I was having a battery replaced on a 2012 chevy volt they charged me over 2k and my car still is not running. I understand they have to charge labor but the job does not require more than a couple hours of work. I talked to other shops after and the highest one was 1k for a COMPLETE install including fluids and programming. They would not work with the price and though they are nice people they charge way to much for the work that others charge below half that cost. Below is the quote for installation from another shop just to show they over charged me by 1400.

Overcharged my granddaughter for a sensor that had two screws to remove and change. 858.65. The code came on saying this sensor but a dirty air filter can trigger also. She drove home from college and the light came on so I changed filter and solved the problem. I talked to Chuck and he said that was reasonable! Can you believe it?

I went to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change on North Freeway in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Presidio…read morelocation. I have been going there for years. Normally, I pull into line, they know what they are doing, and everything goes smoothly. This time was completely different and honestly the worst service I have ever received there since they opened. As I pulled into line, the technician asked me, "What does this truck use?" I was shocked by the question. It uses oil, specifically Full Synthetic 5W-20. I then explained something they should have already known. My Ford F-250 Super Duty uses a specialty oil drain valve system. You do not remove it with a wrench like a regular oil plug. It has a cap that unscrews, then a special fitting screws onto it, and a wire mechanism opens the valve so the oil drains safely through an orange PVC hose into the oil receptacle. I specifically warned them not to put a wrench on that valve because it is a specialty plug, and if they damaged it, they would be paying to replace it. Immediately after that, another technician wanted to perform the light inspection. I told him I had already checked everything myself, but I let him proceed anyway. He checked the low beams, high beams, left and right blinkers, brake lights, and tail lights. Everything worked fine, exactly as I expected. Then he moved on to checking the tires. He kept looking around the driver's door frame trying to find the tire pressure information on my truck. He looked and looked and still could not find it. Even then, he still seemed confused. I then asked him what the actual tire pressures currently were. He told me he could not check them. I was stunned. I explained that all he needed was a tire pressure gauge, something that looks like a pen that fits on the valve stem and pops out the PSI reading. Simple. Easy. Apparently, he did not even have one. At that point, I suggested they pull up the previous service records because all my information should already be there from prior oil changes. The technician admitted he did not know how to access the records. Meanwhile, another technician was already preparing to pump oil into the truck. I literally had to yell, "Stop!" because I wanted confirmation that they were actually putting Full Synthetic oil into my engine. I demanded that he read the oil specifications out loud before pumping it in. He recited the specs back to me, but I still had to take his word for it because they would not physically show me the container or label before pumping it into my truck. Afterward, they checked the dipstick and showed me the oil level. Then came the pricing. I pulled out the Valvoline discount certificate they emailed me, valid through May 24, 2026, for either $35 off or 20% off service. They scanned it, but then I got hit with an upcharge of around $12.50 for extra oil. Here is the scam with these oil change places: they know exactly how many quarts every engine requires, yet they conveniently structure their full service to include one quart less than what many trucks actually need. My truck requires 6 quarts, but their package only includes 5 quarts, so they automatically charge extra for the additional quart. In my opinion, it is a long-running upsell tactic used by quick oil change businesses to squeeze more money out of customers. Then they handed me the service reminder sticker. I looked at it and immediately noticed something was wrong. The next oil change was listed at only 3,000 miles. I said, "That math does not add up, and that is not the specification for Full Synthetic oil." The technician then admitted that they now put 3,000-mile reminders on everything by default unless the customer specifically requests otherwise. That made absolutely no sense because Full Synthetic oil is designed for much longer intervals generally 5,000 to 7,000 miles minimum, and in many cases 8,000 to 10,000 miles depending on driving conditions and manufacturer recommendations. When I pulled out of the service bay, I stopped and asked the technician guiding vehicles out how long he had worked there. He said only a couple of months. I asked him directly if he understood the proper change intervals for Full Synthetic oil. First, he said 5,000 to 7,000 miles. Then he corrected himself and said 8,000 to 10,000 miles. I told him exactly; so why are customers getting 3,000-mile reminder stickers? He admitted that was simply their default setting now unless customers requested otherwise. I told him I had been going to that location nearly since it opened, and today was the worst service I had ever experienced there. The old crew used to service vehicles quickly, professionally, and confidently. They knew what they were doing. He then told me many of the experienced employees had quit or moved with management. I told him I remembered the old employees. I could go on with all their mistakes, this is enough.

EDIT: 6/3/24: Spoke…read morewith Dave. I have no doubt that they can do a good job, as seen with these other positive reviews, but in the same manner that they are professionals in this field, I am surprised they did not find anything wrong with the master cylinder, which does have a direct influence on the clutch. Dave mentioned multiple times that his men did not find an issue with the cylinder at the time of inspection, so "technically" they did their jobs. I should point out, that Dave also said that they test driven it by 10 miles. 10 miles and no issues apparently, yet 2 miles of our struggle before the car gave out. I attached 2 new photos showing the odometer. Unless the paper printed on the day I picked up the keys aren't up to date (and if so, why was I given paperwork that's not up to date?) I am hesitant to believe the car was test driven. With the complimentary oil change + 10% discount on next repair offered, my boyfriend is very open to bringing his car back and if next time the car is properly serviced I am willing to update the reviews. ***** EDIT (Morning of 6/1/24): Tried calling your "24/7" assistance listed on your website. It's just your company's phone number sending us directly to voice mail. We need the car today. My boyfriend is missing out an annual event he wanted to go to deal with this matter. He can't even drive it to a different repair shop as he can't change gears anymore. Getting it towed, which is costing us unnecessary fees too!! Unbelievable!! ***** My boyfriend drives a manual car and was in need of a new clutch. He hesitates in bringing his car anywhere but Redline in Arlington. Since it's far, I suggested that he give other auto repair shops a chance, something he hasn't done before since he knows that finding a good mechanic is hard. Same here, but we wanted to have hope that his car can be fixed properly in Fort Worth. We thought wrong. Upon arriving, the men were very nice. Because their customer service skills were great, we assumed they were going to do a good job. My boyfriend even spoke fondly about Ichiban Autos even before repairs started. The men at the front were also responsive, informing us of the costs, labor, & parts that need replacement. Take a look at the photos for the amount of things replaced. Cost? Over $2k. And because Ichiban closes on the weekends, you'd think they'll make sure their Friday clients would be ensured that their cars would be drivable. Unfortunately, not us. As my boyfriend was flying back from a work trip, we couldn't get his car till 10 PM, long after Ichiban closed. At 10 PM, we retrieved the car, excited to drive it when... HIS CLUTCH IS LOOSE! Both of us tried it and it feels wrong. NO resistance on the clutch pedal, and he couldn't put the shifter into gear! How is this acceptable! He managed to drive the car off premises but as he got closer to my apartment, literally 2 miles away, he had stopped because he couldn't change gears anymore. That's right, 2 MILES by 11 PM, my boyfriend and his car remain stuck on the side of the road, parallel parked at some street and praying that he doesn't get towed. I did not pay over $2k just to retrieve a car that's not operating properly. Did anyone even test drive it? You guys had the car from Wednesday till Friday. Called me at 9:30 AM stating it's ready, and I didn't even come till 2 PM to pick it up, giving you guys plenty of time to test drive/check for any errors/tighten any loose ends. Since Ichiban is closed, our night, our weekend, is ruined. I really wished I could've given this place 5 stars, the men were nice but the service we received is unacceptable. A simple clutch check/test drive would've signaled to you guys that something is off. Ichiban Autos, we are extremely disappointed.

Once they began work, Ray kept me updated about progress with daily phone calls. I had most of the recommended work done and still walked out with a smaller bill than I would have had paying for one of the two repairs at the other place. I'm very happy with the work they did and will be giving them more work in the future.
