I have an RV cabinet with a unique key, which I lost both of my originals. I contacted the manufacturer and gave them my VIN and after a two week wait, they send me two keys-which were completely wrong. They wouldn't even fit in the lock. After checking out Bill's lock shop on Yelp, I called them up on a Saturday. I took the lock off, and dropped it off at his shop. Not sure what they had to do to figure out my dilemma, but I know they had to disassemble the lock. I picked up two new keys on Wednesday and they worked perfectly! The first time I used Bill's Lock Shop, he referred me to a lock specialist for newer cars that require a special coded key. A few months later, I came back to Bill's Lock Shop to have two keys cut from a piece of paper that I traced the cut with. He cut the keys for me and they worked! How incredible is that? This is for Friday 12/29/18 at 12:30PM. The person at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional. I had to yell across the store multiple times for several minutes until some yappy dog comes out from the back room to stare at me followed by a man who I presume to be Bill. I asked to have a key duplicated and when he said he didn't think he had it, I spotted one that looked almost identical to mine and asked him if that might be it. Looking at me like I was dumb as a rock for exactly 10 seconds, he proceeded to say "do you want to do my job for me?" with a condescending attitude. I suppose I would be this way if I was in a dying industry where automated kiosks at Safeway are replacing my business. In any case, I asked for my keys back instantly and quickly left. I found a place that actually understands a basic concept such as how to talk to a customer. You know, the kind of thing you need to do in order to operate in the capacity of a customer facing role on a day-to-day basis. Step up your game, Bill. In 2018, you can't talk to customers like that if you wish to stay in business. read more

This store so reminds me of the good old neighborhood mom and pop hardware lock shops that were so much more reliable and honest than these modern day key-making machines and mobile-only locksmiths. Real person with real locksmith skills and tools. Bill helped me with a jammed key in a deadbolt which I took apart and brought to his store. Within 3 tugs, he somehow just slithered it out. He said the lock just needed a minor adjustment which he did and he even showed me exactly how to put it together properly when I get home. We needed to rekey locks at our house. Peter was early for our appt. His price was the best. The thing I appreciated most about him was he told me all the charges up front. Some other locksmiths we called and used in the past would give us a range of what it might cost and couldn't give us a hard figure until they came over. I called Bills Lock shop because I was installing a front door lock myself and got 3/4 of the way done then stripped two screws and could not get them in or out of the door jamb any further. He picked up the phone and said he would come by and see what I had done then give a quote and I could decide if I wanted to go any further and hire him. He rushed over (since I couldn't lock nor close the front door all the way) and untangled the mess I made quickly and efficiently then charged me a reasonable service fee. He got the job of re-keying all of Tanforan Shopping Center--that should tell you something. We used Pete to replace the door hardware in a new house (from rusted brass to satin nickel) and in the old house we are preparing to sell (same story). What a joy to work with. If you ever get locked out of your car this is the place to call. It would have cost me around $600 to take my scion to Toyota and have the computer reset. They did everything they had to help me and get me back on the road. And they come to you so you don't have to tow it. I guess having a spare key is very important, but if you don't have one and loose your keys give these guys a call...you won't regret it. They saved me over $400. Very happy with the service. Bill was honest, straightforward and reasonably priced. We initially called a different locksmith (to rekey out door) and had a horrible experience. They came over, took a look, and then proceeded to quote us some ridiculous amount to do the work because we had a "special" lock. It didn't seem reasonable and we said no (whereby then they proceeded to drop the price several times but it still came out high). While they were doing this, we happened to speak with Bill on the phone, and Bill was able to quickly identify our lock and the work needed. Glad to say we stumbled across Bill's shop and fortunately just had to pay the $79 service fee to the other locksmith (our idiot tax. this should have been a red flag but we were in a hurry and didn't do our work). read more

This is the only place I will go to for getting new keys! Bill's Lock Shop is tucked way and a bit hard to find (next to Jack-In-The-Box), but it is worth looking for. I had to have a new key made for a file cabinet, since I lost the original ones. I gave the key code on the cabinet to Peter, and he was able to make a new set for me!
