The building and entrance is unassuming. Once you walk in, it feels like an old time diner. It is a clean place and the breakfast tastes amazing. The bacon is cooked to right crispness, the sausage is flavorful, and the pancakes are deliciously fluffy. The service is great and they are nice. You can tell this is a mainstay in the community because they know their customers by name and jump right into service and conversation. So as I said in my check in yesterday. We were at a hidden gem. Honestly we spend a lot of time in the Harrisburg area. Between friends and family on the west shore and east shore, we've been to a lot of restaurants. The funny thing is we probably drove by Bill's hundreds of times. Then we'd go on Yelp and look for a breakfast place and this was always a top choice. Yesterday we pulled the trigger. Holy Cow! This lived up to expectations. First off go into this knowing it's an old school diner. This isn't like so the known diners in the area where the menu is the size of a children's book with hundreds of choices. This is a place that has a small but excellent menu. So we came in sat down and looked at the menu. Our waitress was super nice; my wife got a glass of water and a cup of coffee, and I got a Diet Pepsi. My wife asked for another minute or two before we ordered because she still hadn't made up get mind between the Western Omlette or the French Toast. Me, I was ordering the Bill's Hungry Special. It's breakfast you either go big or go home ha. We placed our order and enjoyed the atmosphere. I love the ceiling in this place, it's small things like that, which help make it stand out. We got our food, my wife loved her Western Omlette, I was totally happy with the Hungry Special. Where else will you get Two eggs (I got over easy), home fries or grits (I got home fries), two pieces of bacon, sausage, toast, and two pancakes? Now, where else can you get that meal for that price with stellar service and quality food? The answer is nowhere else, yes Bill's makes an awesome breakfast. This is now our go to breakfast spot. Great! The food was absolutely amazing and the service was very nice and the whole place had a comfortable homey feeling. I would have absolutely given this place 5 stars, but there is one little problem. Flies. There was a fair amount of flies that buzz around but it was ok. They only really stay around the lights and don't come to bother you often. It is rare that you will have to shoo them away. They only come to bother you once you are done with your food. Overall, it's an amazing place. I recommend it to you and I would go back again. :-D read more

This is your classic greasy spoon, hole in the wall establishment. You'll get a cup of weak diner coffee, and a nice simple uncomplicated breakfast. You'll average less than $5 for most of your breakfasts. The food is not "out of this world" but who cares. You get everything you need without breaking your wallet. If your from out of town, expect everyone to look over their shoulder to see new faces in town. Friendly staff. Worth it. read more

Cute hometown diner with a good cheap breakfast

I ordered the eggs, bacon, home fries and toast breakfast special; and a side of pancakes. The eggs were excellent--a perfect, delicious over-easy. The bacon was undercooked. The pancakes tasted like the fryer hadn't been cleaned in a year. They tasted burnt, but they weren't. The home fries were THEE WORST I have ever tasted. I can't explain the horror. They too smelled burned. They tasted like the oil had been in there since the fryer had last been cleaned. I would go here for eggs only. The servers were nice, the service was a bit slow, and dirty plates stayed around for a very long time, piled high on the counter and on the tables. I really wanted to like this place, but I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Went there for the first time this weekend with a group of 6 and we were pleased. The food was pretty good diner food, large portions, and food came out fast. Our waitress was a little strange and there were a couple of things they got wrong with our order, but she apologized and fixed the problems. It's a lot cheaper than many other brunch places - my bill for me and my boyfriend was $13. Don't expect fancy or all-star service, but if you want cheap diner food this is a good spot. read more

Bill's will always be my number one favorite diner. It's cheap, fast, and good. Service is slow (the waitress's are getting older) but I love it. Even though it's "right smack in the middle of main street" there isn't a huge sign saying Bill's or anything like that. A LOT of people pass it and that's why not very many people know about it. It doesn't catch your eye, but it will always be the homely hummelstown diner. read more

Quiet and unassuming, this is a great little place for a Sunday morning breakfast. Plan to bring your paper and relax with a cup of coffee. The staff are friendly. The company is quiet. And the food is tasty. No need to spend a bundle, this place is very budget friendly. The portions are satisfying but not over the top. I personally recommend the eggs benedict. Bills Restaurant is a quaint little restaurant tucked away in Hummelstown. Their menu is short and simple, and the food is delicious. Coming from the city, the service is different than we are used to, but it wasn't bad service, they just run things differently. Cash only ! read more

Small, inexpensive, tasty! Service (Sharon) was fantastic. Small-town diner feel, assuming that's exactly what it is. No surprises. Kids ate all their food, chocolate milk flowed for them, our sandwiches were good too. If you're hitting Hershey Park this is 2 miles from Hershey and a great alternative to some of the food places run by the hotels and park. Parking free behind the building. Went here on a fall Saturday based on the reviews I read here. Was glad I went! Packed at 9:30am, but we were able to grab a table for four. The servers are older seniors with lots of spunk. Loved them! The food came out quick and hot... pancakes, scrambled eggs w/sausage, chocolate chip pancakes and homemade creamed chipped beef. Not one complaint at our table! And the bill was just $21 for the four of us! Just 2 miles from Hershey on Main Street, it's a quaint little hometown place that seems to be a favorite of the locals. Been to Bill's Restaurant twice now with my friend for brunch since they closes at 2PM everyday. Both times we ordered the same thing we ordered before: she had the Western Omelette and I had the Eggs Benedict. Both times the food and the service were excellent. This is a quaint, friendly restaurant with a vintage feel. Their menus offer many options at very reasonable prices. I will continue to patron here in the future. read more

What a cool place!!!! The servers are like your grandmas and as sweet as can be!!! The prices are mind-boggling low and the place looks like it is from the 50's -- gorgeous tin ceiling and walls. I had the Baked Oatmeal even though I wasn't quite sure what it was -- it was like having a spice cake for breakfast -- yummy!! My husband had eggs, scrapple and toast, etc. and of course loved it. Food was good, prices were fair, but our waitress was very rude! We asked for water for our two grandchildren and it was brought to them in regular plastic containers with no lid and straw like everywhere else that we have eaten. When my 5 year old granddaughter spilled some of her water, the waitress came over to clean it up I told her that I would do it, she insisted that she would. It was not a lot of water and it did not run of the table. Later I heard her complaining to another customer how our granddaughter spilled water all over the place! read more

I could be selfish and tell you its bad and stay away in fear Bill's would become to popular and thus spoiled. This is a hometown place where patron's often bump into someone they know. When Hershey and all its establishments are overrun with tourists Bill's is a place for the locals. With its 14 tables it is never noisy and overrun like the big name restaurants on Chocolate Ave and around Hershey Park. The staff is primarily senior citizens which is great, they get your order right and prompt. They don't have their face shoved in their cell phones. The food is simple but good and the prices can't be beat. So if you've never been there please go down the street to a big name and wait in line to get served while my friends / family and I relax at Bill's. read more
