All I needed was a transmission fluid change, and I was referred here by a regular customer. I called up the place and said I had a Toyota, and before I could finish my sentence to tell her what I was looking for, the lady said "we don't work on Toyotas." I asked her if there was any place she recommended, and she said "a transmission shop that works on Toyotas." Had some issues with the transmission in my vehicle, called around to a few local shops who said they were booked out a couple weeks to even look at it. Both places recommended Bill's when asked. Overall Bill's had my vehicle less than a week and repaired the trans for $800. (AutoLab in Southgate claimed the trans was shot and needed to be replaced for almost 3K) This work was done about 6 months ago and I haven't had any issues since. He ended up finding a great new transmission for me and he even drove hours to pick up the transmission so he could have it done as fast as possible! Well called a head to get pricing on rebuilt transmission. For my vehicle it Was 1600 plus Tax. For a 4L85e in a 2500 HD dropped off truck in morning he called to confirm it needed transmission . I know I'm a mechanic but mainly work on locomotives 7 days a week so when he called he said yes teams is slipping 1800 I said what happen to 1600 as quoted he didn't know what to say I said ok I need it fond are you going to rebuild or put one that is sitting on shelf he said we have one on shelf I said I happen it's a 4L85E not a 4L80E he said they are the same transmission just depends what year it come from WRONG. The 4L85E replaced the other the 4L85E is stronger and can take a lot more torque and can pull more that's why they put it in the 2500hd and 3500 HD. My car's transmission failed on the way to Detroit airport. Had to tow it somewhere. The tow-man kept suggesting that I took it to Bill's transmission. Since I wasn't familiar with the area and had no expert opinion, I listened to the nice man. Long story short, Bill repaired my car's transmission ASAP. They told me all there transmission they build shift hard... since after going here I heard nothing but horror stories from this place. I had the clutch go out in 09 G8 GXP and Jeff (the owner) quoted me $500 to swap it out with me supplying the parts and true to his word that is all he charged.(good price) In a few days the clutch started to fail (bad parts) and instead of charging me to do it again he just swapped it out. Now I figure he did this at his cost as he would not be able to charge back the supplier as he did not go through his internal channels for this. Great shop to work with and I will for sure go back any time I need transmission work done. They have a customer for life. read more

My transmission has been slipping for about the last 4 months and decided I needed to get it checked out. Took it to Auto Tech Clinic and another shop, and both said to go to Bill's Transmission. I brought it in last week and talked to Don the shop Mgr. and he gave me a quote. I dropped my car off at 9am and was told it would be ready possibly today. The owner, Jeff Cruse, said they have many transmissions ready to go for more popular models. Found the employees and owner to be very friendly and truly felt comfort in knowing 2 different people said to come here and they truly know what they are doing!! Don't think you can stay in business for 40+ years if you are not a great repair facility. Just want to thank all involved for getting me back on the road on time and on budget. read more

Not too impressed, 3 years ago they put a tranny in my 09 Malibu for $2,400 or so. Here I am 3 yrs later and about 50,000 miles needing another tranny. The quality of work the shop did was good but the p.o.s. tranny remans they install suck. read more

Initial impression: good job, good business ... as time goes on, my husband has called and brought back his truck several times and his transmission still isn't right. They cant figure it out so, they are done helping us. That's what you get for $1500+ Look elsewhere for your transmission needs, they can't figure it out! read more

This is a three year follow up, for an $ 1100.00 rebuilt trans, was it worth it? my wife an i took the the trans' out of the truck and put it back in after a one day service repair turn around ....i haul a lot of wood and scrap with this truck and at first i did not think that a one day fix would hold up but they have proved me wrong .....My options were $200 no guarantee, $400 30 days ,$600 with a 90 day guarantee from a scrapyard who do not know the real condition of the trans. or the the rebuilt from bills for $1100.00... in which i also bought a new torque converter which people sometimes do not replace and regret it later .....I do not normally write reviews but in this case i felt compelled to do so and do a follow up 3 years later ....I really run the crap out of this truck which has 252.000 miles on it, it's not pretty but its mine.Also i would not have invested this money on this 2001 dodge ram if the rest of the systems were not in ok shape ....this is my review think of it as you wish....thanks for reading this and i thank you again bills trans, sincerely.....frank read more
