Stopped by Billy Can Can for dinner before a Stars game on Thursday and my husband and I both really enjoyed the experience! The cocktails are strong and the food is flavorful and delicious - will be putting this in the regular rotation moving forward whenever we find ourselves in Victory Park. I'd made a reservation for 6PM so we'd have ample time to eat before we needed to be at the 8:30PM game, and when we arrived the hostess greeted us and we were promptly led to our table. We were seated in the darker back room which had cool decor and a nice ambiance! Taking photos was a bit of a challenge in the dim lighting but luckily there was a candle on the table, haha. We ended up starting with a cocktail each; my husband ordered the Smoke Show which he enjoyed, and I got the sweeter Cloud Hunter which was equally strong but had a creamier finish that I liked a lot! The apps we ordered were decent - my favorite was probably the Pulpo Negro, which was charred octopus in a dark purple sauce with avocado. The tuna crudo was very excellent but the flavors of the dish were a bit too overpowered by the chili oil; I ended up scraping about half of it off each piece of tuna so I could enjoy the other flavors as well. The deviled eggs were very interesting, though the toppings on each piece were a little on the stingy side for the price point. I liked the pickled seafood and the mustard seeds on one of them a lot! For our main, we split the skate sandwich which was delicious, definitely my favorite bite of the night. The fish is fried crispy and had a great flavor and flakiness, wasn't too over cooked, and paired really well with their house sauce and slaw. Brioche bun was also buttery and held up to the wetness of the toppings! The fries were just okay, they tasted a little over fried in my opinion so not as potato-y as I normally like. We had enough room for dessert and opted to try the coconut lime pound cake. A great decision, I loved that the pound cake came out warm, and that it wasn't too sweet! It was super soft and moist and paired really well with the different textures on top, the crisp coffee toffee wafers and the lightly crunch meringue, and the flavors played well with each other (loved the tartness of the lime and the smooth sweetness of the coconut). Servers were all very good about checking up on us and topping up waters/removing empty plates! I was impressed with the service given how packed the place was for a pregame evening. I don't very often get asked if I want it with Rye or Bourbon and here they do. Perfectly made Rye old fashioned. Appetizers looked great. We tried the dueling sausages. One sausage was with seafood. Not my favorite, nor others. The other was very good. I may try one of the other recommended appetizers next time. Main entrees with Steak frites, fish of the day, corn ravioli and chicken. All were done perfectly. The corn ravioli was comfort food from heaven. Steak was done to perfection and fries were perfect. I personally always enjoy a good mayo based sauce with my fries in this scenario, but had a little mayo in this case. The fish of the day escapes me now, but it was incredible. Perfect char, tender and sauced very nicely. My fiancé shared with me, so I enjoyed the rest of it immensely. The chicken was done very nicely, tender and flavorful. We had coffee cake for dessert. Very good, including the ice cream. I was very pleased with the food, the service and the ambiance. Punching the air right now because it took us way too long to try this place out. We go to Cinepolis in Victory Park a lot and every time we walked by, we would say "we should try that place out" because we have heard from multiple people how good they are. Thank you, Shelby, for finally getting us to come in lol. This place is so cute! Dined here at 8pm on a Thursday and although it wasn't a full house, the vibe was definitely there. I think it helped that there were more people at the bar but I enjoyed our little quiet booth overlooking the street. The music wasn't too loud and the restaurant was well-lit. I'm not a big fan of "too dark I can't see what I'm eating" and "music so loud I can't hear my friends talk" type of restaurants so the setting of the restaurant was perfect. The food: My favorites were: the maple glazed carrots, cornbread and banana pudding Least favorite: baked oysters - only because I'm not a big fan of baked oysters but my group seemed to like it! I recently had the best roasted potatoes of my life at a restaurant in LA.. and I think I may have found the best maple glazed carrots of my life here. He (Isaac) also facilitates a food tour as well and has a love for trying different locations, and has been in Dallas much of his life, so I easily accepted the suggestion . . . and glad I did. I wanted to visit a location that offers top-quality craft bar options (and I did add "no matter the price"). The pricing here was VERY reasonable, and the service at the bar was friendly and attentive, and the drinks were, well, Fantastic. I enjoyed my visit and would readily return myself if I lived in Dallas, but I was only visiting for the Eclipse weekend. It is a location I can very easily recommend to others. Go! Enjoy! My partner and I really loved our meal here. It was a last minute decision to grab a meal before our movie, and there were reservations available at Billy Can Can, conveniently located across the street from Cinépolis! We started off with some cocktails. I'm quite picky when it comes to drinks, but the love letter was delicious. We also got the smoked fish dip to share as an app, which was the perfect size and didn't leave us feeling too full before our entrees. For the entree, I got the wagyu flat iron which comes with a bed of broccoli rabe. My steak was so tender and cooked perfectly at medium/medium rare. My partner got the filet which he LOVED. We shared the Brussels and carrots as our sides. The carrots were a particular stand out. So yummy! Finally, we ended with dessert. We went for the baked Texas (essentially a baked Alaska) which was just okay. Next time I would probably go for their coffee cake option. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Such a great experience at Billy Can Can! We went to celebrate a birthday, and they were kind enough to include a "Happy Birthday" sign at our table. The food was very good. We ordered three appetizers: Assorted Deviled Eggs, Snapper Ceviche, and Scallop Ceviche. Although we recommend the ceviches over the deviled eggs, the portions felt small for the price. For our main entrees, we had the Bone-In Pork Chop, which was juicy and a generous portion; the Red Snapper Al Pastor, which was a big hit for the seafood lover in our group but came in a very small portion; the Butcher's Steak Frites, which was a solid, classic meat-and-fries dish; and the Wagyu Flatiron, which was very flavorful and tender. We also got a side of their famous cornbread and it's famous for a reason! To end the night, we enjoyed the Peach Cobbler Empanadas and the Baked TX. Flavor-wise, I preferred the empanadas, but the Baked TX definitely wins when it comes to presentation and photo opportunities. Just a heads up, they do charge for everything, including sauces and even a single habanero pepper. The star of the show was our waiter, (Luis) so attentive and kind, and he patiently answered the 300 questions we asked! Shrimp ceviche was a little spicy (the good kind) and came with spice dusted chips. Deviled eggs were also a hit. I had the pork chop--which seems to be the meat to master these days. A year ago I'd never have voluntarily chose a pork chop assuming it's dry and boring. This was far from it. Juicy, flavor packed and the rest of the plate balanced everything out--grilled peaches, roasted peppers and the corn. We ordered the cornbread just to try it. I went there on a Tuesday date night with my boyfriend, we're always in Victory Park and have been wanting to try this place so I'm glad we finally did! We got there about 30-45 minutes before closing so we skipped appetizers and went straight into ordering entrees. I got the Long-Bone Pork Chop and oh my goodness, it was so good! It was so tender and juicy, and the items that it was plated with (collards, some ground mustard, and a small topping of an arugula salad) all tasted AMAZING TOGETHER!! Like after tasting that I don't think I'll ever have another pork chop that has sides and juices that pair so well together! Also on the menu it's said that broccolini will be on the side, I think maybe the menu just hasn't been updated so beware of that (luckily my server told me this ahead of time). Also the portion size was really big too, so if you're getting sides or a heavy appetizer you probably will only finish like half! My boyfriend got the Wild Boar Lasagna, he said it was really good and had a unique flavor profile! The meat was shredded instead of your normal ground meat in lasagna, so he liked that difference! It was definitely a smaller portion than mine, he ate it all in about 30 minutes lol. Our Brussels were really really good, and the portion was pretty good! Would definitely get those again! This place is awesome! When you go inside you feel like you've been transported to a saloon in South Dakota bit with a modern twist. The service was fantastic, our server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu and offered to change the first cocktail I tried which was a little strong for my tastes. The second one I had was great and my husband liked his, we also split the duelling sausages appetizer which was delicious. However, the mains we fantastic we decided on the skate wing fish sandwich and the wild boar lasagna both had incredible flavor as the fries that came with the sandwich were seasoned to perfection. For the most part, I loved my experience at Billy Can Can. There were just a few small things that are keeping me from a 5 star review. This was our anniversary celebration and M had made a reservation many weeks in advance. The menu looked fun and I was excited to try this spot. Parking was pretty easy, with validated parking in the garage. But I believe I learned about this from a Yelp review and could not easily find the info on the restaurant's website. We walked in and checked in with the hostess, and we were seated immediately at a booth. Our server introduced himself and shortly brought out our water. He seemed really good at his job, but I felt like his attention to our table diminished after another party was seated at the next booth and started inquiring about expensive liquor. We started with a dozen oysters. I asked about the paloma style and our server recommended doing half paloma and half naked. I preferred the naked because some of the paloma ones were very tequila-forward. I had one that had a bit more grapefruit and that was nice, but the others weren't as balanced. The oysters were enjoyable but I was hoping for more flavor (think kumamotos) at the price point. They also only brought us 11 oysters, and I had to awkwardly point out that we were missing an oyster. The chicken liver paté was probably my favorite from the entire meal. It was savory and sweet and our server caught that we were almost out of bread and offered us more. I probably could have eaten this paté by the spoonful. When we were just getting into the oysters and the paté, our salad and cornbread came out. Our server saw this and sent it back, because he had coursed out our meal. This was fine, but after we were done with the first items, we sat without any food for a while. I almost would have preferred the items too early over what ended up happening. When they did return to our table, the cornbread was so lovely and the endive salad gave me a chance to eat a vegetable I rarely eat. The endives alone were a bit too salty but having both the endive and the pear in the same bite was a treat. As you can see in the photo, the salad is quite small. I thought it was a bit too skimpy at $14. Onto our mains. I enjoyed my bouillabaisse. Again, it was on the salty side--and I love my salt--so as much as I wanted to slurp up all of the broth, I could not. But everything in it was very tasty as a result. I really enjoyed the toast that came with the dish as well. M said his pork chops were ever so slightly overdone for the requested medium, but not to the point of wanting to bring it to our server's attention. He said he loved the appetizers but his main dish was not as good. Even though I enjoyed my bouillabaisse, I would agree with his assessment that the appetizers were more exciting than the mains. For dessert, we got the café mocha, which I LOVED. The cake was nice and moist but that ice cream! Thinking about that coffee ice cream makes me drool, and there was really nice textural contrast from the peanut butter cookie crumble and the caramel corn (I think technically it was sorghum?). I felt like service was great when we did get attention, but there were times where I felt a bit neglected (esp. after that other party was seated as mentioned above). But overall, a great dining experience with some standout items. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas! It has such a fun theme of an upscale saloon, and I love its meat-heavy menu. For apps, we got the beef tartare and snapper crudo, both of which had such a great balance of flavors. Would definitely order these again. Then for our entree, we split "Today's Big Table Steak," a NY strip with bone marrow butter (which is as good as it sounds). We added the brussel sprouts and broccolini for sides, and they were perfect! We topped off the night with the coffee cake. The ice cream paired so well with the cake, and each of the components came together to form the perfect bite. While the food was delicious, the drinks weren't anything to write home about. I got the cinnamon bear, which came in an adorable jar, but lacked any depth in flavor. Knowing the menu rotates, I'm hoping the next rotation will have some more variety. The only downsides: 1. Parking can be a hassle on event days. 2. The hard booth seats are really uncomfortable, and the angle places a lot of pressure on your lower back.
