Bar Sardine was delicious!! We went for brunch, and it's a cute spot in Snider Plaza with tons of parking available. The restaurant is pretty intimate and tables are close together, with additional seating outside. The service is super friendly and finds a great balance between checking on the table and letting the customers take their time to chat and look over the menu. I just wish our server mentioned there were additional drink menu options written over the bar, because I preferred those choices to what was on the menu! On the topic of cocktails, I tried the the nuit en rose spritz, the limoncello spritz as well as the pina colada spritz. They were all delicious, freshening and while the cocktails are definitely pricey, I thought there was enough alcohol in the drinks to make them worth it. For food, we ordered the honey truffle brie baguette, the frites, and the quiche of the day which happened to be goat cheese and spinach. WOW!! The baguette transported me to heaven, so good!! The truffle is strong though, so only order if you like that flavoring! Frites were crispy and easy to grab by the handful, definitely worth ordering and splitting with the whole table. I enjoyed watching the bartenders throw cups around and put on a show for the guests, and the strawberry mocktail was very good. We sat outside for dinner service, and had a hard time getting attention from our waitress. We also ordered the aioli dip set and they forgot about it but the fires were cold by the time we saw our waitress again. The pasta of the day was very good. We were so excited to be able to try this spot! Our reservation was at 4:30pm on a Sunday. We booked the reservation a week before and it's either 4:30 or after 8pm. Here's my very long review: Food: My boyfriend found the spot because... he saw a review that their burger is awesome here. I know, I know... a French spot and we're here to try their burger LOL. But to be honest though, their burger is EXCELLENT! We asked for medium rare burger steak and it came out so perfect and so seasoned! I know it's a little unconventional to order a cheeseburger in a French spot, but you really have to! For appetizer, we had the honey truffle baguette. It was very well made and the saltiness of the truffle mixed with the honey and well baked baguette. To me, 1 is more than enough. The second one indeed felt like a lot of flavors already. Moving on to the next course, the cheeseburger. I already mentioned how amazing the burger is at the beginning of the review. Next, we had the linguine of the day - and by the way I have to mention, it was recommended by an old couple who just finished their meal, we knew we had to try it. I would like to trust my own judgement and I believe the clam was fresh because I tasted the freshness and the taste of a clam. Overall, it was such a treat! Last but not least, the profiteroles. We saw the old couple that I mentioned earlier ordered this dessert. I heard there's vanilla ice cream and my boyfriend love chocolate. We both knew we had to order that. It was AH-MAZING!!! I had been wanting to try this place for a while. I came in with my friend for lunch, and we were seated right away at our reserved table. This cute little restaurant is very tiny, so making a reservation is a must. We tried the Gin du Moulin as our cocktail of choice, and it was not only pretty but very tasty. I only wish it was bigger, the cup did seem small for a $20 drink, but didn't really mind it too much. For our meal we had the famous cheeseburger and shared a side of truffle fries. Excuse me!!! I wanted to love Bar Sardine so bad, but honestly....I was a bit underwhelmed! I've had Bar Sardine in my must visit list for a while. It looks so quaint, has a lot of hype, and I love a good French bistro. So....I had some spare time and made a lunch reservation for one a few days prior. I was looking forward to it! On arrival, I love the cozy French bistro vibes and my server was very nice and welcoming. I started with a delicious house-made strawberry lemonade and French onion soup. The soup was the first let down. The broth was very bland and didn't have the rich caramelized onion flavor that makes French onion soup so delicious. This was disheartening being that Bar Sardine is a chef-led French bistro and not just a random cafe that happens to have French onion soup on the menu. Next, I had the Croque Americane and Frites Diane. Although my server was super sweet, timing for the soup and entree wasn't great, so the sandwich and fries came out just a couple minutes after the soup. It ultimately worked out since I didn't enjoy the soup and only had 2-3 bites. The presentation of the dishes was wonderful, everything looked delicious, but the fries and sandwich were both lukewarm/room temp at best. Not sure how that happened, but it made for not a great meal. The Fries Diane sounded great, but there wasn't much gravy on them. The gravy was the best part, but just barely there as you can see in the pic. The sandwich was pretty good, but again lukewarm at best. Which makes a grilled cheese not very enjoyable. My issues seem like things that can be rectified easily....except for the lackluster French onion soup. So, I would possibly give Bar Sardine another chance, if I happen to be in the area, but I can't see myself intentionally making a beeline for Bar Sardine again like I did for this first visit. read more

Enjoy the wine by the glass. Started with oysters. Pretty good but not great and expensive at $4.50 apiece (a dozen is more than several entrées); and no cocktail sauce with horseradish. Table bread is available but at eight dollars for four slices. Steak Frites was very good. French fries are exceptional. Chicken entrée was very good as well. After finally getting a reservation at bar sardine, we were so excited to go. Although expensive, it did not disappoint. We got the dirty martini and aperol spritz 2.0 which were both extremely well-made. I'm not normally a big aperol fan but really enjoyed the drink. We additionally got the regular fries with the aioli dip trio. The fries were extremely well made, and I enjoyed the dips. The places on the smaller side but feels intimate and we really enjoyed the setting- there is a lot attention to detail in their designs. We had a fantastic dining experience at Bar Sardine tonight! The weather was perfect for sitting outside and they had French songs playing making you feel like you are on the streets of Paris. Our server was outstanding--attentive, funny, and truly made the experience even better (I wish I could remember her name!). The food was just as impressive as the service. We started with the truffle honey brie baguette and the truffle frites, which came with three different aioli dipping sauces. The fries were perfectly crispy, the sauces were a fun addition, and the baguette was absolutely delicious. For our main course, we shared the lobster ravioli, and it was nothing short of exquisite. Adorable and intimate bar in Snider Plaza, the ambiance in here is on point. I had the fluffy margarita, which was unique and refreshing. It's a small space so I wouldn't commit to being a walk in for dinner, we walked in for drinks around 10pm on a Saturday and were able to be accommodated. After reading other reviews, I feel compelled to mention that the server who greeted us initially when we walked in was pretty standoffish, she immediately let us know that the kitchen was closed and we would not be served dinner. After iterating multiple times that we were not there for dinner (we just had dinner next door at Jack and Harry's), we let her know we were just interested in drinks. We started to worry that the place was closing imminently and asked her what time they shut down. Not until 2am she tells us. Reluctantly she eventually tells us we are able to get a seat at the bar if we could find one, luckily, our party of four was able to grab some seats. Not sure why she didn't offer to seat us at any of the many open tables they had that remained empty during our visit, overall we felt a little unwelcome. Very cute and intimate dining. The reservations open 30 days in advance on OpenTable, so I recommend booking in advance- I booked this reservation 3 weeks in advance. There are only about 10 tables inside and about 4 outside. They do have the bar open but there's only about 6 stools available. This is located in Snider Plaza where parking can be very hard, but you do have the option to go all the way down to the parking garage by Ramble Room and park there and they will validate your parking. No valet available. We started off with the Truffle Frites and aïoli Dip Trio, these made a good pairing and they both were very flavorful. I got the Fluffy Pinnapple Margarita, in my opinion it was a little too much fluff and a little bitter, but it was fine. For my main course, I got the Lobster Ravioli which came with about 5 raviolis and a good little amount of Lobster. It was seasoned very well and tasted fresh (as fresh as you can get in Dallas Lolol) and my friend got the Tuna TarTar (small version) and she loved it ! Very disappointing. Went for lunch and ordered the pasta salad which the menu claimed had artichokes, mixed veggies and burrata. Sadly the artichokes were no where to be found, the burrata was just mini mozzarella balls and the mixed veggies was tomatoes, lettuce and olives. I've eaten in some of the best restaurants around the world, and Chef Elliot is the real deal -- among the very best there is. The food is soulful, precise, and deeply authentic. I was incredibly excited for Bar sardine but unfortunately had a somewhat mixed experience. I went for a friends birthday and the interior was one of the cutest I have seen in Dallas. The restaurant is super quaint - only about seven or eight tables and is dimly lit with great French ambience full of real burning candles. The menu beautiful - very small and well laid out. Everything on the item list looked delicious and I was super excited to try the dishes. Our service unfortunately was terrible, and for a restaurant of seven tables, I was shocked. We had to book the table a month out since it's such a popular destination so I had really high hopes for the service. Each time we wanted to order, we had to beg our waitress to serve to our table and she did not offer anything to order besides main entrees, not even drinks. As for the food, I highly recommend the bread service - the bread is exceptional. The french fries are solid classic and I would encourage you order them with the dip trio, which was a very unique flavor combo. My table ordered the bucatini, the burger and the chicken. I was pretty disappointed with the chicken as it was a super small piece of flat chicken for $30. The value really should've been $10 for the amount of food I received. The bucatini and burger were well-received by my group and the chocolate mousse was delicate - a nice mix of sweet and salty. We popped in here for lunch on a Sunday. My husband and I had heard about this place, but also knew that it was next to impossible to get into for dinner. So one Sunday we tried to see if we can come in for lunch and luckily they were able to see us. It is the quintessential casual French bistro. The place is the size of a postage stamp and only has about 10 tables. Now I understand why it's hard to get a reservation. We split a few items. The Niçoise salad was fresh and delicious. But the two stars that we had that were incredible were the watermelon and feta salad. The watermelon was perfectly sweet and the feta was deliciously salty. Totally worth it. And the Fritz Diane, which were shoestring potatoes with a Diane sauce, which is creamy mushroom. Was utterly decadent with huge shards of Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. now we have to make reservations for dinner because I wanna try it out at night. It's not a fancy place.
