First impression was not great.. we arrived about 830 on a Thursday morning and stood there for what seemed like forever.. My sister finally went looking for someone to seat us. We were told the hostess was not in yet so they were not paying attention. Lol We finally got sat down and the hip hop music they were playing was so loud we literally could not hear each other talk. I looked around and the crowd was 95 percent 50 and older ( probably not the best music for that atmosphere and crowd ) I felt like i was at the club on Friday night. Lol. We asked the waitress to please turn the music, she was hesitant but finally honored our request after about 10 minutes. I about had a heart attack when I saw the prices but my brother assured me the portions were hefty and food was great.. he was not wrong I had the Monty crisco breakfast and it was delicious !! The hash browns were perfect. Our waitress was great and attentive. Moral of this story they probably need someone in charge paying attention from the time they open til they close that knows what they are doing. Blaring Hip hop music is appropriate for 20-30 year old employees working there but not for the 50-70 year old crowd that is paying their wages. Food GREAT! Customer service So-So. Love the new location! We were quoted a 15-20 minute wait for a party of three on a Saturday morning and it ended up being more like 5 minutes. There's plenty of parking and seating, and the furnishings are clean and new. We do miss the old eclectic mugs a bit. We ate at Billy Gails for the first time today and it was quite an experience. My hubby and I decided we'll eat light and hust share one meal. We were in for a surprise! Our food came in and WOWZA! They came in huge plates! Smelled good and was presented good. Usually in a restaturant like this that offers big portions, the food was just ok. But everything we ate was delicious! We were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and made sure we had all we need while we were there. We took home leftovers probably still good for 2 people to consume. I will say the fried green tomatoes were good but onion rings were not done. Catfish is a really strange texture. I didn't realize this was the same company as Flat Creek or we would have skipped. If you're a prissy east coast city slicker, maybe you won't like this down home American masterpiece as much as the typical fly-over-state country kid, but being in that latter category, I must say I LOVE it! Granted, just like everywhere these days, they seemingly struggle to find good help. That is, in my numerous trips there with my family, service has been hit and miss. Not all of the servers were top notch, while some were. I won't the establishment them for that, though. Not their faults; try to find a single establishment with good help these days. I recently spent $300 on a date at an over-rated pretentious steak place and received the same quality of service, so I expect every restaurant is impacted by our crumbling society's phenomenon of the missing minimum wage worker. Thus, I'll not dock stars for that. I digress. The food has been dialed in and perfectly prepared, while ridiculously oversized, on each of my visits. It tastes amazing. I leave full. Well, we use to be big Billy Gail's fans but after todays lunch I won't be back for awhile. The signature breakfast burrito was terrible, rubbery and they forgot the cheese. What's a burrito without cheese???? I've enjoyed this signature burrito at both locations in the past and loved it. Husband got the Billes Breakfast hash browns were gluey and his sausage burnt on the end looked like someone had taken a bit out of it. Service was poor, the place was empty and we had to wait to be seated , no one manning the front desk. Lots of employees walking around doing nothing and a manager who strutted around talking to staff about time off in-front of customers. I got the BBQ sandwich with salad and it wasn't good at all. The sauce was too sweet, the bread was soggy from the sauce, and the meat didn't have much flavor. The salad was very boring. Always a good service and good food. They keep the place pretty well clean. Been there a lot of times and haven't had any issues.

Fun atmosphere and ample portions. They're having problems finding good servers but that's pretty much everywhere.

I personally love their catfish platter but the last three times we have gone, my poor hubby's food has been messed up. 1st time, he couldn't cut through the pancake, it was crazy hard. Second time his bacon was very undercooked and eggs broken, last time his hamburger bun was black. Instead of taking the whole burger back, the server left the meat and he had to wait 5 min or so for a new bun, by that time his meat was cold. Pretty inconsistent with the quality and preparation of food. I've only ordered catfish and it has always been very good. read more
