Stood at the window for over 10 minutes. No acknowledgement what so ever. Yes, they were making others drinks but to ask if I've been helped or if I had been taken care of would have been just fine. Got here at 3:15 and stood at the window waiting to be served, but no one ever came. The "open" sign was still up. If the place was closed early, I understand but please don't leave the open sign up. It's frustrating to stand there thinking you're open when you're not. read more

Simple and nothing fancy. We got a hot dog, a chicken wrap, and a chocolate milkshake. The hot dog was perfect and my husband enjoyed the chicken wrap (Greek style). For an unassuming food shack, the service is outstanding at Billy Goats! Whether you are on the East end of the island to take the ferry, visit Fort Gaines, pop by the aquarium or just go to the beach, please stop by here and have a meal! There is picnic style seating underneath the cafe, and if you walk behind the cafe a very pretty view of the bay. I had a hot dog, $0.50 per topping which is a little high, but for $4.50 I can't be mad. My chocolate malt didn't have enough malt for me, but my son had a coffee flavored chocolate malt which was absolutely delicious. A friend's gyro looked delicious and fresh! It's nothing too fancy but it is high quality and seems pretty clean inside. The two ladies who run the place are sweet as pie!!! (I do wish they were wearing masks, but they do work behind a window and only with each other, and I don't know what Alabama's official policy is on masks, so I am not subtracting for this on my review.) read more

This is a great little place located by the Ferry launch. We were out riding bikes and stopped by for sandwiches and drinks. We both had the brisket sandwich special on Texas toast, chips and a drink. It was a very nice brisket with pickles, onions, and a tangy sauce. My husband and I both agree the brisket was good enough to stand alone and the sauce wasn't needed. We enjoyed it very much sitting in the sun on the short pier next to the shop watching the Ferry come and go. Watching the birds and having a great time. After we shared a chocolate shake that was just delicious to top off a fantastic little beach lunch!!!! read more

We stopped at Billy Goat concessions while on a recent vacation in Gulf Shores, AL. We had taken the Fort Morgan Ferry over to Dauphin Island to see Fort Gaines. We didn't realize how far the restaurants were from the fort. Since we were walking we decided to give Billy Goat Concessions a try so we would have more time left to explore Fort Gaines. We had a couple of tasty chicken wraps and a cold beer and were soon good to go. I was happy to see that the wraps were made to order and not prepared in advance. They were large and very filling. I was waiting on the ferry and was plan on just getting a snack. After looking at the menu I decided to get the Cuban. Before I ordered I let a local fisherman go in front of me. He said you need to try the Smoked brisket po boy if you hadn't ordered yet. He said that's all I ever get! I took his advise and got the sandwich. I'm glad I did too! I tell you what that was the best sandwich I've ever had!!! The only bad thing about it was...I wish I had ordered one for the road became it was absolutely delicious. This property is open. I had a shake while waiting for the ferry. They are on the thin side but very flavorful. There restrooms consisted of a porta potty that why the 3 stars. I hope they get construction on new bathrooms. They had a sitting area also to look out over the water while waiting on the ferry. November update. Hubby got the garden salad and added brisket. Fresh and fantastic! I got the pulled pork tacos and the nice girl said she didn't have a slaw because it hadn't liked very good that morning so she'd gotten rid of it. No problemo because the taco was amazing!!! They're open year round which is very important because we only visit Dauphin Island in the fall and winter. Don't skip this place! read more

We were trying to find a place open while touring Dauphin Island on Christmas Eve. It was the only place open, and we ordered cheeseburgers for a snack while waiting on the dairy. They were thin and just the right amount. Two cheeseburgers and two drinks cost us $18.00. read more

We made daily trips here for the soft serve ice cream while on vacation. It can be a long wait if a lot of people from the ferry are ordering. The staff is friendly, and the ice cream was delicious. After our last few visits we're lowering our ratings and expectations. Ice cream and shakes are good, but the food is inconsistent probably because of cheap ingredients more than anything else. For example, the chicken can be just horrible. In the gyro, the chicken is cut into long, perfectly square, pieces. It's as though they came out of a mold or something. I guess there's some kind of cutting machine that does this, but it looks like fake meat. Worse yet, large sections of it are what I call "zombie chicken". It's just tough and completely inedible. Between the odd appearance and the tough texture, it's just horrible. Maybe microwaving has something to do with it. Regardless, it needs to be fixed. I hope they address this because it is a nice option on the island for riding a bike to and eating casually outdoors by the water. I guess we'll stick to ice cream and skip the food for a while, though. read more
