The ribs were the star of the show, perfectly smoked, incredibly tender, juicy & packed with unbelievable flavor. They literally melted off the bone. The brisket was buttery tender with an incredible smoke ring. The pulled pork was moist & flavorful without needing extra sauce. The smoked chicken was unbelievably juicy, the house made sausages were outstanding, the smoked bologna was surprisingly delicious, & even the smoked ham completely exceeded my expectations. Every single bite showed the amount of care & time that goes into preparing these meats. The baked beans were rich & flavorful, the coleslaw was fresh it didn't feel overwhelmed with seasonings which is very crispy and just delicious vegetables & every side complemented the BBQ perfectly. I honestly kept eating because I simply couldn't stop tasting everything. Every meat had its own unique flavor, & I kept saying, "Just one more bite." What made this experience even more unforgettable was the owner. I have visited countless restaurants over the years, but I have never met a restaurant owner who showed this level of genuine kindness, hospitality, humility & appreciation toward his guests. You can immediately tell this isn't just a business, it's a passion built with love, hard work & pride. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed & authentic. The ribs lacked seasoning and didn't taste smoked. The Polish sausage had very little flavor. The chopped brisket was dry and under-seasoned. The baked beans were not cooked properly and were unpleasant to eat. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made with Velveeta and lacked flavor. The only items that were enjoyable were the barbecue sauce and the bread. I accidentally found Luke's a few years back and now I'll drive to Coweta from Tulsa for lunch as it's THAT GOOD!! It's honestly some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. I went last week for lunch and got my usual, sliced brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredible, but the pork was AMAZING, something that usually doesn't impress me. I can get a butt nice and juicy, but NOTHING like Luke's!!! Not sure if they brine, inject, or what they do?? The meat is soaked with delicious juices and you can tell that it's inside, not just added if that makes sense. The brisket came off the point, which is not what I typically prefer, but it too was incredible. Go early, burnt ends seem to sell out first. Great portions, I always bring home leftovers. It is a tiny mom and pop place so be there by 10:30 to avoid a line that steadily grows until opening. Lukes reminds me of some of the best small, local BBQ joints you find all over Texas.
