I discovered a great place for BBQ. I asked the hotel front desk for recommendations, but they didn't have any so I reverted to YELP to select a BBQ restaurant. Here are the positives and negatives of Billy Sims BBQ: Positive Friendly employees - As soon as I came through the door they said hello and welcome. They talked to me throughout my visit and asked if I enjoyed my meal when I left. Food - The BBQ was very good. I had the three meat combo with brisket, pork and sausage. Everything was very good with the perfect amount of smoke flavor. And the baked beans very good. Portion Size - I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size of the three meats. It was a lot of food. Price - With the excellent quality of the food, the large portion sizes, unlimited soft drinks, $17.75 is a great deal. Most places would be well over $20. Negative Cleanliness - The restaurant looked dirty. The tables and floor were not clean and there many flies.

I've always been by this place, so today we tried the place out. Usually a good sign, when a place…read morehas to have supplemental parking across the street. But in this case, the place was an overall disappointment. - Best item of the night: the homemade rolls and apple butter. Rolls were absolutely great. - smoked meats: first off, it appears they use some sort of electric smoker. So, the char and flavoring isn't there. Then, everything I had, was well overcooked. Any kind of spice forming a good bark is really missing. - pit beans: these appear to be something like Bush's beans doctored up a tad. - potato salad: This side actually tasted pretty good. However, they have a fine cubed cut to the potatoes etc....so the texture of the potato salad, could throw some people off. White gravy: never seen gravy like this....that was super water-like thin. It didn't taste the worst by any means. But getting a chicken fried steak.....it would be odd....as the gravy lays in the bottom of the plate.....doesn't have that cling or scoop up the gravy, as you eat a bite of chicken fried steak. I wish I had better news to report on this place; but I don't.

Went down to Joplin for a colleagues birthday and she mentioned Big Rs had good pie. At that point…read moreI didn't even care what kind of food they offered. When I pulled up the restaurant looked very small. It's not huge by any means, but it's bigger than it seems from outside. When you walk in you're greeted at the hostess stand. And front and center is their cooler full of pies. We were there slightly before noon, and we're seated immediately. The menu has a nice selection without being overwhelming. I decided to try the pulled pork plate with Suzie Qs and Baked beans. The pulled pork was delicious and dipping it in their house bbq sauce made it even better. I wasn't a huge fan of the baked beans, but I can be pretty picky in that regard. The Suzie Qs were seasoned well and fried nicely, but man if that's a half order I'm scared to see a full order. It was already too much for me to finish. I did make sure to leave room for the pie though. They had quite a few varieties to choose from, but I'm a sucker for a key lime and knew I was getting that from the start. It was creamy and tart and I ate the whole thing. Since key lime pie traditionally come with a graham cracker crust, I did steal a bite of my colleagues pastry pie crust and it was SO good. Flaky and light, it melts in your mouth. I would come back for the pie alone, but it doesn't hurt that their BBQ is good too!

You may want to call ahead if you're interested in a specific kind of meat, today they were out of turkey (darn pandemic supply chain problems). Like much of the country we are having a heat wave, let me tell you they have great air conditioning! If you're hot, come on in and cool down! Oh yeah, there is great food too. We were in for lunch, my wife had ribs and a salad and I had a smoky sandwich with fries. Let me say they have really great fries, lightly seasons, nice and crisp, not mushy or soggy. The meat was flavorful and smoky but not over-smoked. You could still taste the meat and it did not need to be drowned in sauces. RibCrib serves their soft drinks in large oversized branded soft plastic cups they encourage you to take them home if you wish. They offered to refill our drinks as we were getting ready to leave which is common in the south and midwest, some places in other parts of the country would not offer it or make it inconvenient if you ask for a to-go drink. Here it's assumed you would want one and free as it should be. The server was casual and friendly, not pushy. Just enough attention. You can see into the kitchen somewhat which I always think if fun

I have never in my life saw ribs like they gave us. We did it online order the ribs did not at all look like ribs the mashed potatoes and gravy was somewhat all right. Didn't care for the white gravy on mashed potatoes tasted kinda bad they sent me a email want me to give them feedback and I did an honest one I won't eat there again. They had the nerve to send me a 11 cent refund that was just downright disgusting kind of like a punch in the face I didn't ask for any kind refund for the mail anyway I should've took pictures of the ribs and it cost $41 for the meal
