Our garbage disposal stopped working and was leaking. Called our home insurance company to get a plumber referral. That plumbing company was slow to respond and after almost a week later had to call the home insurance company for another referral. Betty from Billy's Plumbing and Rooter replied quickly and set up an appointment for the following morning. The plumber was scheduled for between 9:00am-12:00pm. He showed up at 9:00am. Frank was friendly and professional. After he determined that the garbage disposal couldn't be fixed, he got authorization from the company to install a new disposal. We were connected to Billy's Plumbing and Rooter by our home insurance company, and are so happy they chose this company! We had a valve and hose that needed to be fixed in our powder room sink, an issue in our guest room bathroom where cold water wasn't coming through, as well as a shower leak in our master bathroom. Fernando was so fast and efficient, fixing the guest room bathroom in record time and quickly diagnosing the master bathroom leak as a valve issue. The powder room sink required a re-visit because our water shut-off was stripped, and he returned after it was repaired and fixed in what seemed like five seconds! Big fan of this company. Honest people and respectful of your house and time. I've needed them a few times and have never been disappointed. They give a small window to show up and call on the way so you're not waiting for hours. They even clean up at the end! Side note because it's quarantine time, they also came in a mask and wore it the entire time. Another company came out (not plumbing related) and the crew took off their masks once starting. *long review* TL:DR They are great call them up. I stumbled upon Billy's via a home warranty claim. Like it typically goes the water heater goes out on the weekend and you have to setup a home warranty claim. As many home warranty customers have realized often you get some crappy companies that come out. I have had my share of this with every house I have owned and somehow the water heater has gone out with every home in the first year. I called my home warranty company 2 days later cause no one called me and I found out their website didn't create the claim that I had submitted online. Needless to say they assigned it to Billy's and said they should contact me. Surprising within 30 minutes Susanne called from Billy's and was able to send someone out that day to check it out. He showed up took pictures and said the office would contact me. That night they had sent over the estimate and sent it to the home warranty company. My service charge is $75 so I was shocked on the estimate that came in at a lot more so I called. Susanne explained it was code issue and of course I didn't believe it so headed to Google to fact check. Sadly she was correct and I now needed all those extra items. I then questioned the price so went and got 2 more quotes and asked the home warranty for the cash out price. The 2 quotes came in higher than Billys and one didn't want to deal with the permit. So the decision to move ahead with Billy's was straight forward. They had been honest with me even though I doubted everything they said. Billy's came out the day after I approved the work and did the install in couple hours. Everything was cleaned up, all the parts quoted are there, everything that was to be done completed. The staff that I met were all nice, professional, and took the time to explain things. I actually had another employee show up the day prior go over tankless options, pros and cons, and that was a great dialog. All in all it was a great experience and I went into it questioning them because to the reviews I had read. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I have a home warranty and Billy's was randomly assigned to fix my leaky sink by my home warranty. After waiting 4 days after I placed the repair request, I finally called Billy's and asked them if they were going to schedule an appointment. I told them my name and my address and they looked it up and said "oh, we spoke to you yesterday". "Um, no you didn't" I replied. "Yes we did, you said you were never home so it would be difficult to schedule a time for repair". "False, I work from home so I am ALWAYS home", I respond. "Oh, in that case, we'll send someone over". They send someone to access the situation and determine that I need a new faucet, so they will need to come back. They check with the home warranty and then say that it will cost me $415 out of pocket in addition to what I paid with the home warranty to remove the sink from the wall. "No", I say, "I will remove the sink from the wall". So my husband and I do the simple job of moving the sink away from the wall (it's a pedestal sink) so that they have access. They come back and say, "Oh, the leak is actually from the wall". Yes, that is why I put in the repair request in the first place. So they tell me that I need to place another order with my home warranty in order for them to fix THIS SAME issue. I call up the home warranty and put in another service request. They proceed to half fix the problem but they need another part, so they will have to come back. During this time, we discussed how they need to hook up all the pipes and make sure that their repair WORKED but that I would put the sink back up to the wall (which require me to put in three bolts and some calk around the edges). Okay, I can do that, but make sure the sink WORKS! They come back today and I am upstairs deep in the middle of work, so my roommate deals with them. They ask him if I am going to hook up the sink, as discusses, and so I tell my roommate yes and then the plumber leaves. I come down thinking the plumber is still here, but nope, he's gone, and he didn't hook anything. For all this trouble, they did replace the faucet. Yeah. Next time we are doing that ourselves. My problem was a leaking sprinkler. Sebastian arrived quickly, he surveyed my sprinkler timer and plumbing and concluded that the valve was malfunctioning. I requested he replace both valves to ensure their function. He had to get the valves, returned quickly and replaced both valves. The leak was gone and the sprinklers are working properly. If First American attempts to assign this company to you, immediately ask for another contractor. Had a leaking water heater, scheduled to meet contractor between 9-11 am. The person I eventually talked to at Billy's assured me their guy would be there first thing in the morning after I told them that our schedule was tight. At 11:30, called warranty company, let them know that Billy's was a no show and that no one had called or texted. Called Billy's published number (it's the number where customer callers go to die, no one ever picks up) let them know as well. At 12, I get a call with no caller ID and it is Billy's home office (evidently the super secret number that anyone but a customer gets) and they tell me the contractor is running "just a little late" and will get there ASAP. I ask for a little more clarity and wonder aloud why they haven't called DURING THE APPOINTMENT WINDOW to tell me they were running late and they're like, whatever. I then ask, where is the guy right now and what is his number - "He's in Los Angeles and we don't give out phone numbers". Freaking classic. I ask, can you give me a little more clarity, as in, where is the guy and what how far away is he? "I don't know, he hasn't called in". Great, just call me when he is near, or leaves from wherever he is. Next thing, at 1:30, a full 2.5 hours outside of the time window, I get a call from a No Caller ID phone and it is from the contractor. He is at my front door. I tell him to give me 5-10 minutes to get there. He says, "I can give you five minutes, beginning now". WTF? As we speak, I get another beep in from a No Caller ID line and it is Billy's home office. She says contractor has been there 15 minutes. "Funny, I am on the other line with him and he got there one minute ago." She argues, "No, I have timed this and he has been there 15 minutes and he has to go". "So are you telling me that you can show up 2.5 hours late and then give me 5 minutes to meet you?" "Sir, we are going to call warranty company (and lie) and ask for another company to meet with you." The notion that these guys have any intention of honoring an appointment commitment is a joke. Billy's Plumbing was assigned by our home warranty company, First American and I can see other reviews saying this is a combination to be avoided. This was not my experience. Firstly they came out the next day, the flange on our toilet was completely corroded and destroyed and they got approval from First American the following day to do an in slab repair. They came back the following day to actually do the work and instead of having to jack hammer up my tile floor (which would have taken all day) their technician was able to replace the flange without damaging the tile or tearing up the concrete and tile floor, and he completed the work within 2 hours, which saved me aload of money as the repair is now completely covered by First American. The technician who did the work, Edgar, was fantastic and Suzanne in the office was extremely friendly, polite, and helpful also. read more

I called these guys to deal with pipe damage on a water line break inside my house. Two tech arrived, very friendly and outgoing however didn't seem too experienced. One major red flag was when they told me that my water pressure inside the house was low yet adequate however I reminded them that when they arrived I had informed them I had turned off the water to the house to stop the leak. As you can imagine, the rest of the repair work and assessment was a bit off. I'd never call them again. read more

Please. Do yourself a favor and save headaches and frustration. Billy's plumbing is unprofessional, from their customer service to their technicians. Their customer service does not answer phone calls after 4 pm, they'll get back to you when it's convenient for them. Their technicians act like they're doing you a favor, and they don't care about the amount of time you go without water or having you issue fixed. One of the things that separates great companies from bad ones is communication and responsiveness, and sad to say, Billy's does neither. Unfortunately, if your home warranty company picks Billy's for your service claim and anything outside of standard appliance fixes comes up, you should just save your time and go elsewhere. Let's begin with the scheduling process -- they have a phone number you can call, but it's an automated voice machine that just keeps you on hold forever. They can only be reached sporadically by text, responding DAYS after, and if you have to reschedule anything due to life emergencies, good luck. There is miscommunication between the plumbers they send out and the office, and even between them and the home warranty companies. The final letter sent to me by the home warranty company claimed that the problem leak in question was due to a nail in the pipe, but it was not -- it was a drainage pipe that had cracked in three places that I saw with my own eyes as it was carried out by another, much more competent plumber. They also wanted us to cut a hole in our vanity to access the shower, when the problem pipe in question was already exposed under the ceiling. So just BEWARE that whatever they diagnose is not even accurate -- and then the office will be extremely rude and condescending about the diagnosis to you. read more

Simply put this company is a RIPOFF! If your warranty company sends them request someone else. I read other bad reviews and thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but that was a bad idea. And before you say it's the warranty companies fault they don't cover xyz, just read on. First American sent them because they needed leak detection and the tech's idea of leak detection was to break the stucco (my husband did give him permission). The leak was right there where I could see it leaking at the kitchen/laundry room clean out. The tech told my husband and me that he either had to reroute the pipe through the garage (not covered) or he had to go through my kitchen which would require us getting a restoration company to come and rip out our kitchen cabinets (at our expense/use homeowners insurance and he conveniently had a company to do this for me ) so he could gain access to the pipe. Well I'm a pretty educated woman and my gut was telling me that he was trying to pull a fast one on us AND the warranty company. In addition to having my cabinets torn out they also wanted me to pay them over $1600 (services not covered by warranty). The problem with this is when I contacted the warranty company I was told that Billy's told them it was a slab leak and they only cover $500 and the $1600 was above the $500 allowance. Well I get that however it wasn't a slab leak ( just look at the picture, the clean out is not even near the slab ) they were just trying to get more money. I had two other plumbers come out and both said they could see the leak and fix it by exposing a little more stucco. If I would have listened to Billy's plumbing I would be well over 6k deep into this but since I went with my gut, a very reputable company fixed it the right way for less than my average electric bill. People please do your homework and don't take what this company says as the final word. If something doesn't sound right it usually isn't. Not being a plumber and looking at the leak I already knew there was no need to reroute a clean out pipe, that's just a little on the extreme side for where it was leaking. It is worth finding your own reputable company and getting a cash out from the warranty company, unfortunately you need to have them send someone out to get a quote and diagnosis but id it doesn't sound right ask the warranty company for a payout. They only pay the contracted rates (what they would pay the contractor they send) but that is still better than nothing when you have someone like Billy's being more than dishonest. First American has been very helpful and after sending them pictures they are looking into it and I will be doing the cash out option. Read your warranty contracts, believe it or not everything is in there and I have had no issues EVER except for this plumbing nightmare with Billy's. It is out of your control if the contractor is shady and lies but that's why you need to do your research on the company and the issue you are having. I would expect a contractor like Billy's showing up as an American Home Shield contractor but I expected more from First American who prides themselves on excellent contractor relations. Moral of the story is all these bad warranty reviews about this company are not because the warranty company doesn't cover anything (like most of the good reviews state) it's because Billy's is lying to get more money from the companies and the customers. My hope is that First American will get rid of them because they really make the company look bad and have probably been falsifying information to get more money for a long time. I can't imagine I was so special that I was the first person they thought they could pull one over on. Nice try Billy's but I'm a little smarter than that. **I would also like to add that you guys look very petty and tacky putting peoples review history up as if to discredit them because of bad reviews. The person comes into fix the issue is very arrogant and has weird response back. By choice I would never call Billy's plumbing and next time when hole warranty assigns them I would take their service. They arrived within the proposed time window and performed the installation along with some modifications to bring it up to code (installation of blow-back, drip-pan with drain, etc) quickly and very cleanly. I called my insurance for a second opinion on a plumbing issue at my home and one of Billy's plumbers showed and but never came back. He said that his team was to call my insurance company and that the issue at my home was covered but he needed to call my insurance. He said that in the meantime he was going to a second call but was going to come back. I never heard back from the gentleman nor his office. Very unprofessional.
