My dumpster was originally scheduled for delivery on Tuesday. After waiting all day, I contacted customer service around 3:30 p.m., spent time on hold, and was first told that my delivery was still scheduled for that day. I was later informed that they could not make the promised delivery and that it would instead arrive the following morning. The dumpster was delivered on Wednesday at approximately 9:00 a.m. The bigger issue is that I paid for a three-day rental, with delivery on June 24 and pickup scheduled for June 26. Instead, the dumpster was removed on June 25 at approximately 2:30 p.m., giving me less than 30 hours of use for a service that was contracted for three full days. Customer service claimed this was because the City of Chicago permit expired at midnight on June 25. To verify that information, I contacted my local alderman's office and was informed that the permit actually expired at 11:59 p.m. on June 26. To be fair, Kevin in customer service was polite and genuinely tried to help. After the dumpster was removed, he initially offered to have the driver return for a 30-minute live dump so I could finish loading debris from my property. When I explained that this was not what I paid for and was not an acceptable solution, he increased the offer to one hour. While I appreciate his efforts, that still was not the contract I agreed to. Ultimately, the company issued a $50 credit, which represented the value of the lost rental day. I appreciate that they eventually corrected the billing, but it did not make up for the inconvenience, time spent on hold, and frustration of having to fight for the service I had already paid for. In the end, I paid for three days and received less than 30 hours of actual use. Although the issue was partially resolved with a $50 refund, the overall experience was disappointing. Save yourself the frustration and aggravation and consider working with a local company that offers reliable service, better communication, and greater accountability.

Needed a dumpster to throw out a bunch of junk during our move. Got quotes from 3 different…read morecompanies and Affordable Dumpsters was the lowest quote so we went with them. The beginning process of reserving a dumpster was painless. I needed a dumpster to be delivered the next day and they had availability. Also needed a permit since this is in Chicago and for an extra $100, they take care of that process. Just needed the dumpster for the weekend so permit for 3 days that's $100, anything over that up to a month is $150. Then the issues started trickling in. I called early the next day to confirm what time the dumpster was coming and they said it could come at any time during the day. There wasn't even a window of time that they could give as they didn't have access to the dumpster dispatch. Thought that was very inconvenient but okay. Next issue was we ordered the dumpster for Friday - Sunday. Said they don't work weekends so earliest they can pick up was Monday but the original rep only charged me for a 3 day permit but I was told I should have been charged for 4 - so they made me pay the extra $50 for their mistake and would not waive it. Since this was an emergency and last minute I rolled with it. Dumpster came at 10am the day I needed it. We were able to complete our move. Now it's Monday and I called to confirm the pickup. Now the dumpster is parked on a city street and in order for them to be able to pick up the dumpster, I needed to reserve at least 2 parking spots in front. I was told it takes at least 1-3 days for them to pick up the dumpster so we had to be on call and nearby to move our cars when the pick up was going to occur. Again, no window was given as to when the dumpster would get picked up. We waited all of Monday and finally customer service confirmed it wasn't going to be Monday but Tuesday instead! So we were not able to move our cars again for another day as Affordable Dumpster charges you an extra $250 if the dumpster is blocked by other parked cars. So we had to be on call for all of Tuesday basically waiting for these people to pick this up. I called a bunch of times to plead with the people to put my pickup as a priority. That didn't help. They basically couldn't do anything. Only the manager had access to try to call dispatch but the best he could do was leave them a message. I realized that is where the pricing difference comes in. They do not own their own dumpsters and contracts out Waste Management to pick up and drop off. This is the reason why they have no damn clue as to when the dumpster would be dropped off or picked up. I would have been better off paying the extra $100 that the other 2 companies charged - and the difference is that I would have known exactly when drop-off and pickup would have been and I would have been able to plan accordingly instead of waiting around and wasting time. Highly do NOT recommend. I guess my bad for not realizing that off the bat. But you live you learn.

The first woman told me that the dumpster would be delivered between 8-10 AM on Friday morning. That didn't happen. When I called at 10:10 AM, another woman told me that it was not written up that way. She told me that they will drop off the dumpster in 45 min, but it was more like 1 1/2 hours. So I took the day off work, woke up ready to go and begin filling the dumpster, but had to wait until after 11 AM to get started. Lost a lot of time. The guy who brought the dumpster out was nice and he picked it up on time. Perhaps he should be the one taking phone calls.
