Black Sesame Matcha Latte and the Hojicha Latte

Ordered the Black Sesame Matcha Latte and the Hojicha Latte -- both were yummy! I'm a huge black sesame fan and the flavor definitely comes through, plus the matcha itself was so good. It's one of those drinks where you just want to keep drinking it and the taste never gets old. Went early around 10, ordered easily at the kiosk, and the drinks came out quickly. The hojicha latte was solid too, though if I came back again, I'd probably try more of the matcha drinks first!

I was skeptical that this place with good given the name but surprisingly the Matcha here is very delicious! There are a lot of different flavors to choose from and I've got the pistachio Matcha while my friend got the mango Matcha with Boba. I was very pleased that they had pistachio flavor since I don't see it super often at other stores. Both were a perfect sweetness and very delicious (I asked for less sweet for reference). The Matcha flavor also comes through and the drink has a good amount of earthiness to it without being bitter. The inside is relatively spacious and there are often students doing work on their laptops, as well as groups of friends, chitchatting given the location. This is a great spot if you're ever in the mood for matcha in this area of Berkeley! Would love to come back.

Made a special trip for the Kinako Hojicha Latte (only available during restaurant week, 4/2-12) only to find it sold out on 4/4! Bummer!

Three stars because I made a special trip to get the Kinako Hojicha Latte (only available 4/2-12 for Berkeley Restaurant Week) and it was sold out on the morning of 4/4. That disappointment aside, I couldn't have been happier with my less sweet Kyoto Fog. But why spread news of the Kinako Hojicha Latte and its limited time availability if you don't actually have it?

Pricey but very good matcha. I like all of their different flavors! My friend got tiramisu matcha, and I got ube (but I was eyeing the white peach or black sesame as well.) Lots of seating, but it's likely taken up by college students. One bathroom stall so expect a line. You order at a kiosk and service is pretty quick! The ube was sweet and flavorful.

Decided to give this location a try and it was a lot bigger than I thought! Love the amount of seating they had so definitely a great place to study or catch up with friends. I got the double matcha which I wished had stronger flavor of matcha but the cream was super yummy! The pandan matcha was a bit watery. The mango matcha is pretty heavy, more of a dessert matcha imo. The purple rice is pretty thick but again the cream on top is super yummy. Parking is pretty hard to find but it is Berkeley:) Would recommend to try if you're looking for a new matcha spot!

Binge is one of our favorite coffee spots! We're happy to see that they've opened another location in Berkeley; one that's much bigger. This was our first time visiting their new location and it was very spacious! Even though the shop was much bigger, it was still full of people; almost all of the tables were taken when we walked in. We ordered for pick up and were able to find an open table. We took some flicks of our drinks and tried some food items we purchased; pandan waffles and popcorn chicken. The coffee we had tasted great, like always. The pandan waffle was nice and chewy and the popcorn chicken was crispy and flavorful.

Binge Coffee House opened 4 months ago where Feng Cha Teahouse once was. Interior renovated, place looks clean, brightly lit, full of happy laptopers drinking their libations. Many people ordered on a kiosk. I ordered at counter since I didn't have Credit Card with me. Briefly saw a menu somewhere. Sips: su da Viet coffee (5.95) small size, less sugar. -came in under 5 minutes. So surprised. Still tasted pretty sweet. Forgot to order less ice. Luckily ice was small crushed pieces. When it melted, didn't affect taste of coffee. Level of saltiness surprisingly ok. - still had a semi bold coffee taste. Offerings: Matcha, Viet coffee. Banh mi, pandan waffle. Yelp suggests Binge for patrons who like Mind Coffee. Advisory is so bogus. There's nothing similar between the 2. 4.5 stars Semi-worthy. Rounded up to 5 for great service. Quality: very good: no shortcuts observed. Quantity: reasonable. Similar to others. Lines may be long. Service with drinks is fast.

Matcha and coffee flight for the thanksgiving season ~~ Drinks: Black sesame coffee was surprisingly my superior choice revealing a nutty cookie like taste. The Vietnamese coffee was strong yet perfectly sweetened without too much milk. Now, I am pleased to be open minded toward black sesame anything haha. Banana Coffee I appreciated its real banana purée which authenticates the flavor paired with the cheese foam. However it did not surpass socal Phin Smith's banana latte in fountain valley the cardinal hub of Vietnamese coffee. We had our own matcha flight ranking: (1) Pistachio, (2) strawberry shortcake and (3) ube. Pistachio Matcha was well executed from the foam to matcha portion. Ube Matcha was good but I wished for more ube taste even tho it was bright purple. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha was eye pleasing with adorable teddy grams on top and thru the drink elevated the marrying twist between them. Noted that some drinks offer varying sweetness baseline min levels such as no sweetness or 25%, ceremonial grade matcha is used for drinks and itty bitty ice. Food: The popcorn chicken as a snack was great! Good quality pieces that were not overly oily nor salty. The spicy option entailed a spicy ketchup not a chili seasoning coat on the chicken. Service: we ordered on kiosk but an employee was attentive cleaning tables and garbage duty. We appreciated orders were regulated to ensure proper pick up. Overall: we will come again when visiting the sibling at UCB

Absolutely loved the banana matcha from Binge Coffee The banana flavor was subtle but so good with the matcha -- creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. You can tell the ingredients are high quality, and the balance of flavors was perfect. Definitely one of the best matcha drinks I've had lately. Will 100% be coming back for this again.

Amazing Vietnamese coffee! I got an egg coffee and it came with a generous amount of egg cream. The coffee was thick, perfectly sweetened, and strong enough that I decided to let the ice melt a little before drinking more. Really appreciated that they filled the cup to the top and that there wasn't a ton of ice. Their vegan ham banh mi is also solid. It's nice that they even have vegan ham, since tofu often tends to be the sole vegetarian option for banh mi. I ordered on Snackpass and my order was ready before the stated time.

I was really surprised to see yet another Binge location open up in the East Bay! I usually get their coffee drinks, so this time I went for the Melon Matcha to see what the rest of their menu has to offer. If you've ever had a Melona, or a Korean melon bar, imagine that melted into a shake and then mixed with matcha! It's absolutely delicious and super refreshing. The bitterness of the matcha adds a nice twist to this nostalgic flavor. I am really glad that even though Binge is expanding and opening multiple locations, the quality of their drinks has stood strong. The ease of ordering, at all of their locations, but especially this one, is streamlined by having multiple ordering kiosks. I believe his location has 3-4 ordering kiosks and you can order at the counter as well. Since the space is so large, it's perfect for studying for a bit or even a good spot for "working from home"! We came during their soft opening & honestly, I can't wait to see how they continue to grow. I already love how this location has Berkeley themed cup designs!

$9.25 for an almond milk matcha es muy cara...BUT considering it's a pretty tidy space with plenty tables, free wifi, plenty of seating, and it's walking distance from UCB makes this place worth a try. The pumpkin Pie cream has a hint of pumpkin purée in it and topped with pumpkin spice. With fall drinks it's always a toss up of how much pumpkin they load up into your drink but it had just enough flavor not to overpower the matcha. The matcha itself was a nice color and went down pretty smoothly. I got 75% sweet which was barely sweet imo but it was good enough for me.

This place is amazing! The best matcha in Berkeley, if not the whole Bay Area. Their matcha is sweet and the flavors are so unique yet refreshing. An absolute treat to visit. I love this place it gets me through hard weeks every time I haven't even been here a month and I already came here three times (my wallet is crying but I come out happier ). I loved the mango matcha and the white peach matcha! Sooo refreshing and yummy! I would pass on the blueberry matcha tho... Other than that lots of love and I'll definitely be coming back My friend said the banana matcha tasted really good toward the end! She liked the strawberry matcha as well! And my other friend said that the ube matcha was yummy... so basically everything but the blueberry Also love that they have a fridge for your online order so if you come a little late it'll still be fresh, cold, and just as delicious! read more

Binge has such a great variety of flavors and I definitely recommend their matchas with flavored cold foam! My personal favorites are their Kyoto fog matcha (earl grey matcha with matcha cold foam), cookie butter matcha (matcha latte with cookie butter cold foam), and egg coffee. My only complaint is that you can't adjust the ice level in their drinks :( read more

Really kind and thoughtful staff! Had the pistachio Matcha and it was delightful: strong and well blended Matcha with options for either whole milk, oat milk, or other adjustments to sweetness, etc. The pistachio layer was just the right level of sweetness and creamy texture with a little bit of crunchy pistachio on top. This one will become a regular for us. Also love the seating that they have which isn't always available around campus like this. An odd comment, but I also like the crushed iced over large chunks of ice, which they seem to do really well with their drinks. read more

If you're even remotely into matcha, Binge is a must-visit. They have a variety of matcha flavors from classic ceremonial-style to inventive flavors like pandan, ube, and pistachio. There is a perfect balance between the creamy matcha and fruity add-ons. So glad they opened a location on the south-side of Cal, I can't resist it. Not to mention this is the perfect place to study or chat with friends. Plenty of seating area with outlets and a cozy interior. Highly recommend Binge! read more

Took myself on a little solo date! Ordered their double matcha from the kiosk and it was just the right amount of matcha flavor. Staff is helpful but not intrusive (which I like). The cafe has a clean, spacious quality to it, and there are plenty of outlets for studying! Great location and a welcome addition to Durant Ave. read more

Matcha was good! 9/10 matcha for me! Good sweetness and not overwhelming! The ambiance has great study tables, but definitely packed so you have to scout to find a seat! They also played really cute cafe/study music to listen to. If you need a quiet place to study, I would not recommend to study here since it is pretty busy and everyone is talking. Overall, great experience and would come back if I'm ever in town! read more

I'm unfortunately giving this location 2 stars. My first visit was great, but my second experience was a disappointment. During my initial visit, the employee on shift provided excellent customer service. I ordered an Americano style matcha -- a nonstandard request and she did her best to accommodate it. The drink turned out delicious and since it's hard to find an Americano style matcha with salted cheese foam in the area, I genuinely thought I had found my new go-to spot. On my second visit, I asked for the same drink, simply substituting milk for water. I even tried to help find a way for it to be entered into the system, since I know firsthand how tricky that can be. Despite this, the staff told me they couldn't accommodate my request, even though it had been done for me not long ago. The inconsistency left a sour taste in my mouth and I ended up leaving without ordering. The drinks here are pretty tasty, but you may experience inconsistent customer service quality. I understand if there are firm policies around substitutions, but that didn't seem to be the issue in my case. I hope the customer service and consistency across staff can be improved moving forward. read more

4.5/5.0 stars. I love Binge; Binge has redefined my standards for caffeinated beverages, now I want cream tops for all my drinks. It would be nice if their menu is more flexible though. I loved the tiramisu matcha but would've loved a tiramisu cream top on their Vietnamese coffee. read more

I love the matcha here, although it is on the sweeter side. I recommend the Ube Matcha and the Pistachio Matcha. I have heard from my friends the matcha quality is subpar compared to other spots nearby but I don't think thats necessarily the case. The service is quick and efficient, you receive your order 5-10 minutes after ordering. The space inside is nice but loud, many students come to study so it is difficult to find a spot! read more

Tried the banana matcha and thought it was pretty good! Though if you're not a fan of cheese foam (slightly salted flavor) you may not like it. It tastes more like a banana bread cream top. Honestly I had much lower expectation for the matcha but it was honestly not bad, I would consider coming back again. Jsut hard to find parking there read more

I usually get a iced matcha latte with oatmilk and boba - the matcha is great quality, and they don't skimp on it like so many other places. I enjoy the fact that they offer a nondairy option, though it would be nice if they also did the foams (pistachio, etc) in a nondairy milk. The boba has been a bit inconsistent, though. Some days its a little undercooked and hard in the middle, while other days its too soft and barely noticeable in my straw...if you're able to get any at all (they are often out in the late afternoon). Seems like they still have a few kinks to work out, but they are still fairly new, so I'll come back in a few weeks to see if things improve. read more

I love Binge Coffee House!! I have been going here for months now and was pleasantly surprised to see a new location on Durant Ave. This shop creates delicious coffee and matcha creations, along with tasty sandwiches and treats to grab. I am glad that the quality is consistent between locations. This spot is cute and super close to campus (even closer than downtown!) and I can see myself studying here. Service was quick and very friendly. Definitely check out Binge if you're looking for a tasty drink! read more

I used to go to the Downtown Berkeley location but since the Durant one is closer to me I've been visiting this one on the regular. I love Binge no matter the location. The drinks are good and always consistent - it's my go-to speciality coffee spot in Berkeley! The owner and staff are also always really nice to me. Been an early supporter of Binge and I have no plans of stopping :) The Durant location is bigger than the Downtown one. It's a bit too loud for studying or taking meetings, but a great social spot! read more

The matcha here is really not good, you cannot taste any matcha flavor at all despite the deceiving green color. However, the coffee here is worth trying as it is pretty good, though often too sweet. I like the binge house coffee. You should order ahead on Snackpass and just pick it up once you get there. There is a lot of seating for studying. read more

Pistachio Matcha was great White Peach Matcha was coo Regular Matcha Latte was better than most Matcha spots Double Matcha Latte was even better Props to this place for having an accessible restroom, places these days expect customer to not use the restroom (wtf) I'll be back to use the restroom and order another round of 4 drinks. I love it so much that I visited 2 days in a row. We ordered binge house coffee, strawberry matcha latte, grilled pork banh mi, popcorn chicken and bbq pork banh mi. Everything was delicious. Popcorn chicken was fried with garlic and basil..... instantly brought me back my hometown. You know they do something right if they open this second store in walking distance. I am so glad that I tried this place. I am sure every time I am in this area I will try to visit this place. read more

Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience.
