Binny's must be my favorite liquor store, and I'm especially convinced of that after my visit here today.  They have a huge and diversified inventory; knowledgeable, helpful, and abundant staff; and conveniently they have locations all over Chicagoland.  I dropped in here only because we were running grocery errands in nearby Chinatown, and they blissfully had exactly what I was looking for.  A couple weeks ago, I saw at the Niles store a nice Beluga Russian vodka (my favorite) holiday gift glass set on sale for $24.99, along with a 750 ml bottle. I passed on it and have regretted it ever since.  I recently looked up several Binny's locations in my Park Ridge vicinity and no stores had any left.  On a whim, I called this store from Chinatown, and lo and behold, Bryant tells me they have 2 left and sets 1 aside for me, yippee-yahoo!   On my visit, I used their convenient and covered parking lot in the rear.  An escalator takes you to their second floor and typical large and well stocked display floor. I was greeted in a welcoming way at the top of the escalator by their security guy Mike, who was dressed in full and intimidating SWAT gear, and also a Mel Gibson look-alike, ha.  I was thinking as well as saying to him, wow, are you like the regular security guy here, and yes he is.  I asked him if this South Loop area gives the store any problems, and he goes "naw, not with me around",  ha!  Well, after our engaging and fun little chat, I asked Mike if he wanted to be featured in my Yelp review, and he happily and proudly obliged so I have herewith a masked and unmasked portrait of the man. I cannot speak for the actual store itself, but their shipping/delivery service was an awful experience. The shipping associate claimed they had made 2 attempts and gave me options on how to proceed from there. i explained twice that it went to a completely different city and even screenshotted the tracking information. Delivery was attempted in Normal, IL and I live in a completely different city (I did verify the correct shipping address). She kept giving me the same scripted answer about how they attempted twice, etc and I would receive a PARTIAL refund in 3-5 business days. She refused to acknowledge, take any accountability, or even simply apologize for their mistake. This was the first time I used Binnys delivery service and that will be the last as well as any recommendations from others if asked. Very disappointing experience. read more

This place is like the Costco for liquor! Don't think I've seen such an expansive selection anywhere in California. The staffs were very attentive and guided us to the shelf filled with Malort which was recommended to us by locals and prob one of the most disgusting liquor I've ever consumed. Talk about an alcohol/wine sensory overload here. I happened to notice this place when we were across the street having dinner so thought we'd check it out. First thing is this location is all upstairs and you cannot help but notice the armed security standing at the top of the escalators. We just laughed but really we weren't sure of what part of town we were in or if all locations are like that. There are so many aisles of everything you can think of. Tons of wine and even a wine cellar to top it off. Everything is broken up by styles so it's easy to find the area that you are looking for. Of course, Ben was there to look for local beers. The one thing I would say is that though they do have a large selection, they do not have a large selection of single beers to pick from so you can try multiples with a full commitment of a 6 or 12 pack. They do have some that you can make a 6 pack of your own for $10.99 but none were priced individually so have no idea if you must always get 6 or not. With the smaller selection we did have a little trouble finding 6 that we truly did want but we made it work. They also have things there for snacks or whatnot if you were throwing a party and even a cigar humidor so really is a one stop shop for most of your needs. read more

This store is huge. It also has a large parking lot, which is good and useful in this area of the city. They have a tasting room, which is really cool! I wouldn't mind giving that a try sometime. I've used the one-hour pickup here, pre-pandemic, and it worked really well. The manager was nice. I'd shop here again if I were in the South Loop, which isn't very often. read more

Friendly staff, we were looking for a bottle of cognac as a gift. Since i do not know anything about Cognac, i had to ask for advice on what to pick. I also picked up a bottle of Woodford reserve because we want to share the bottle with the in-laws and friends. I am glad we found this store as the whole transaction was quick and easy. read more

Well-stocked and the best customer service I could ask for! Creating a home bar and getting into craft cocktails has been a fun hobby that my boyfriend and I have picked up in the last year, so needless to say, we have made our fair share of runs to Binny's in the last 12 months. I'm writing this review to especially give a shoutout to Miguel! All of the employees are so helpful and knowledgable, but Miguel in particular spent a lot of time teaching us about different rums on our last trip. He provided a wealth of information and recommendations based on the current liquor markets and his past family experiences. He even gave us a small sample of a fancy rum for us to try, which was so thoughtful. He recommended that we try making the same daiquiri/cocktails with just switching out the spirit so that we can start training our palates to notice differences and discover our preferences. I love that this store generally has very detailed descriptions under each product. It really helps when making decisions or when you don't totally know what you're looking for. There's something that makes me happy about coming up the escalator at Binny's. It opens to a huge variety of alcohol!!! First, there's a private parking lot, which makes accessing the store easy and convenient. Second, everyone that works here is extremely kind and helpful! They helped us pick out a wine to which I had no idea where to even begin. They also offered to have our wine chilled prior to leaving which is also a huge plus. Great selection, average prices. You can so many cool things here!! The prices aren't great but there are liquor samples sometimes which let you discover new things. Binny's is the Best! This liquor store has everything you need to make your day complete. They have a deep, deep selection of beers, booze, and bottles! I came in for Malort, and they were quick to show me where it was. They even had a comical sign under it doing their best to describe the booze. They have a good selection of local breweries, from all the favorite places. I was amused that they even have tequila bottles in the shape of baseball bats. They also sold local snacks, like the famous Chicago popcorn! Woot! The store is located up on the second story of the building, where an escalotor takes you up to the liquor land above, like a shiny bottle shimmering in the clouds. Chicago's a cold, windy city- this is the place that can warm you up on the coldest of days! The staff was friendly and fast. Excellent liquor store in the heart of downtown with its own parking lot. It is such a convenience when you don't have to search for parking in downtown Chicago. It's rare, but this is one of the places you can park worry free. Stopped here to stock up for All Star weekend, and was amazed at the size and selection of this place. One tip, make sure to sign up for a Binny's card before you go. I did this about a week before my trip, and it saved me about $15 on an $80 purchase. Definitely was well worth it. The staff was very friendly and talkative on a Friday afternoon that had a very large crowd. I would be very surprised if there was a better place to purchase liquor in the downtown area than this place. read more

DRINK UP Binny's owns Chicago when it comes to loading your fridge or bar. This is not the largest location Binny's owns but it serves a purpose when supplies are running low. Binny is the ultimate liquor store to visit. On weekends you can always find a wine or spirit tasting going on. Who knows you may find something you like. We found a spicy whiskey that we really liked once plus they gave us a discount too. This location has several store features: Gourmet Grocery & Cheese Shop, Walk In Humidor, Wine Cellar and a Tasting Room. What goes great with wine? Cheese, Olives and Meat and that makes Binny a perfect place to pair your alcohol with. Then at the end of the night you want to retire with a fine scotch and a nice cigar. Yes Binny has you covered again. This store not only has a great selection of spirits but also great items to serve with them. I highly recommend you join the mailing list and you will find out about all of the great beer and spirit events they have. Some are free and some have a nominal fee. You might even meet some famous people like Master Brewers or Spirit Masters. You just never know. They also will email you when they have great sales too. Alright Bunny's (as you've been so affectionately nicknamed thanks to autocorrect), we need to talk. STOP CLOSING THE BAR DURING HOLIDAYS. That's dumb. I'm more likely to spend more on alcohol if I've been drinking beforehand. Otherwise I'm like "eh, Bunny's isn't always that fresh and I'd rather support my beer guy" but after a few at the bar I'm like "man, I want it alllll" and I can't be the only person with no impulse control (for buying booze or stuff off amazon, not for bad things that throw you in jail unless you're a privileged white boy) when I've had a few. Also, everyone I know thinks your bar is just for show. If that's not an indicator as to how often you've got it closed, I don't know what is. As for the selection and staff? It/they're all good in my book. The cashiers here are actually some of the nicest of all the Binny's I've been to and surprisingly, the beer guys here aren't condescending. I've overheard them talking to people and they're quite nice, which is what I like to see. Your bartender (I would say plural, but you seem to have run them all off) is also very nice. The parking lot is terrrrrrible, but it's definitely more manageable now that there's an additional lot you can park in, and there's always street parking behind the store (on Clinton? This probably my favorite Binny's out of all of the ones I have entered! Like most of them they have almost every spirit and beer that you can think of. I like walking into this place and taking the escalator up to purchase alcohol. They usually have celebrities promoting there new line of alcohol. I remember coming here a couple of years ago and they had Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Melfi from The Sopranos) here promoting a new wine. Good spot to buy some good drinking material! read more

I have spent far too long as it is staring at the ever-changing selection of stouts, so let's not get me started on the red wines... I have been lucky to have been helped by very informative & savvy staff at this Binny's. In fact, I was once crouched in an aisle, searching through IPAs & a staff person over-heard me express the need to find a decent one. He walked right up to me & handed me a six-pack. "Best we have in the store," he said with a friendly smile. The parking lot is a little tricky & tight, but it is easy to zip in & out once you are accustomed to the lot. Just pull in the little "alley-way" on the right of the building & surprise! A parking lot awaits you. Been going here for many years. Wine staff are pretty good. Checkout clerks pretty bad--for various reasons. But...recently bought a "Mixed case" and when I got home realized I had not gotten a mixed case discount. Emailed to find out why and was told: I only had ten bottles of wine, the Armagnac and Calvados didn't count towards the discount. LOL. They need to be a little more clear on that when defining "mixed case". read more

Note to the traveler: if you're coming here via public transit and get off at the CTA station, you're in for a little bit of a hike. And I would DEFINITELY recommend doing this walk in the daylight hours because you're in the middle of some weird industrial area, with only a gas station and some cabbies in terms of population. It is freaky, especially if you're coming from out of state and are unfamiliar with the area in general. Otherwise, though, I have no complaints! Boyfriend and I had wanted to buy (and ideally ship) a bunch of local beers home to California and we had been told that this was the BevMo of the midwest and they might be able to do so. Of course, with our luck, we were told that they can ship anything to us in California -- except beer. Which was, of course, the only thing we wanted to ship back. All the same, we ended up buying roughly $70 in local brews (Off Color, Southern Tier, Yabba Dhaba, Victory, etc.) to be bubble-wrapped and packed away tight in our checked luggage. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the store is pretty big -- I would be willing to bet that their collection is a bit more extensive than other locations. They also have a pretty neat "build your own 6pk for $9.99" shelf for beer, which was a highlight for me. We need more stores like that out here on the west coast! read more

This new Binny's location is located in the old premises of a two story book warehouse with the retail space on the second floor. Entry is via the parking lot behind the store (which can get tight). Aside from the extensive wine selection, they have a good selection of spirits with some of the lowest prices in town on discount brand, but not as wide of a selection as Sam's on the high-end stuff. They have tons of gift sets along with a few giveaways (w/purchase), so it's a good chance to get some branded glassware to go along with your hooch. The only downside I see is that they have a very narrow selection of cheap beer along with the expected import/craft offerings that include a wide selection of bombers. The tasting bar has some of the best prices on craft beers with most from $4 to $6. You'll want to get a Binny's card when you check out for the first time if you don't already have one to ensure getting all the discounts. read more

Be wary now have to use ghetto entrance! Staff has always been friendly and very helpful. I don't know much about wine and there has always been someone to help a novice like myself pick out an excellent bottle which generates compliments from those who do know what they are talking about. I've visited this location several times and have always been able to enter via the door on the street. Today it was locked with directions to enter via the entrance by the parking lot. I asked why the ghetto entrance today and I'm assuming the Manger ruffled his feathers and said that is their main entrance. This is Chicago! One of the great things of this city if you don't need to drive and since it's a pain to do so I don't! That being said if you are not in a car this means walking through the ALLEY to get to the "main" entrance. I don't care what time of day it is, I do NOT want to walk down an alley!! Based on his attitude, I have to assume this will not be a temporary thing so it's time to find a new liquor store which has a SAFE entrance! read more

Came into the store stocking up for the Super Bowl, specifically looking for tequila. Was completely clueless but an employee named Jim was called to help me, and he was an encyclopedia of knowledge on tequila (as well as other liquors). I was impressed by his expertise that went far beyond the Patron vs Don Julio range. He recommended a Herradura Anejo that fit the bill of a smooth tasting tequila that had a lot of nice notes similar to much more expensive brands that I had tasted in the past. I've been going to this Binny's for almost 4 years now, and recently started buying a lot more Bourbon as I've only recently started enjoying it and am building a collection/exposing myself to different types. My experience for the most part has been great and I think they've got pretty competent staff manning the wine department. Jim from spirits is also amazing! On my visit today, they had a table with few bourbons that I've wanted to try with a sign that said "One bottle per customer". Having picked up two different bourbons, one of the staff members, in an extremely condescending tone asked me to "read the sign". I clarified that I have just one bottle each and again he asks me to "read the sign". Not completely following his logic, I asked if customers were limited to just one bottle from the entire table. Now, I haven't experienced this in the past and I don't have a problem with that if the sign was clear or if he had just told me himself. His tone definitely put me off, but I was content with trying just the one new bourbon. What put me off is that after I moved away from his line of sight, he proceeded to narrate to his colleague how I picked up two bottles, laughing for a good five minutes without realizing I was in the aisle right next to him. On confronting him about it, he lied about laughing at the sign (in the most non-believable way possible). Suffice to say that I will not be visiting this particular store again. I'm perfectly happy taking my business to a store that may be priced a little higher, but values my patronage. read more

Binny's made (over?) serving our wedding guests a breeze. After stopping in the Binny's on Grand to hopefully place our order for our quickly-approaching nuptials, we learned that we must call "the guy" at the South Loop Binny's. We had already chosen our wines/champagne so really, it was figuring out how much of the hard stuff to order. Delivery was timely (and completely affordable), they give discounts for cases, and after initial contact, the gentleman at Binny's was very responsive. That's great when you don't order your liquor until two weeks before the wedding. (ooops!) My one gripe? We didn't have nearly enough hard liquor for our guests. We ran out of gin, bourbon, scotch, and rum. The good news? Our guests switched seamlessly to vodka and beer. I should have known better. Our friends like a drink or twelve. Even better? Anything unopened and undamaged may be returned to the store. I would definitely order from Binny's again for a large party. Only next time, I'd pay closer attention to the kind of people I'd be serving and order double what he suggests if they like the sweet nectar. Face it, my friends (and family) DO! read more

Sometimes, after a particularly harrowing Saturday afternoon at work, a coworker and I just look at each other and say "Let's go to Binny's." It's a grownup version of free samples at the grocery store. Wine tastings, tequila, whiskey, all are set up with sampling. Pick your poison. Is it in the form of fine Italian grapes? Hop brewed pleasure? A bit o' the bubbly? Perhaps a good cigar is your passion? Binny's has it all. Not to mention gourmet cheeses and chocolates to go along with it. The staff members here are very helpful, friendly, and I cannot stress enough, extremely knowledgeable. When I could not find, and it turned out they were out, of my beloved Kasteel Rouge, a staff member pointed me in the direction of a very tasty organic strawberry ale. Be sure to sign up for the Binny's club card. With this card you get the sale price on items, plus you can rack up points for future discounts. The cashier will be happy to sign you up for it, I'm sure. This particular location also has something that is a rare find in Chicago. It's called a parking lot. It would really help me if they added one of those big wheels you see at casinos and they would just spin it and let me know what I'll be drinking for the next few weeks. Bourbon aisle is nearly as confusing to me. Loaded with just about everything under the sun, including Buffalo Trace's White Dog that took a bite out of me in Louisville. Hard to choose just one of my Bluegrass buddies here and I tend to opt for small batch and single barrel two punch. Rows of wine to choose from. A walk in humidor for cigar lovers. There is a big bar set up with many taps to pick from. They also have a gourmet cured meat and cheese counter too. On this day it was just some Buffalo Trace and lots of beer. New Belgium's Trippel and folly pack, Sam Summer, Rogue Dead Guy, and the Spaten sampler with Optimator and Franzikaner. I said I was indecisive right? Maybe next time they'll have that wheel for me. read more

Another Binny's, another winny's. Every liquor, wine and spirit known to mankind, with plenty of local brands to boot. Well-organized and staffed and this location is quite spacious with ample parking and very little commotion or chaos. Located just off the crazy shopping strip of Big Boxer Roosevelt, but as soon as one turns off onto Jefferson (one way, north) the traffic and angst melt away. Pull into their designated parking lot (avoid insane Manny's Deli valet drivers, if possible), pop into their second floor perch....and peruse the millions of bottles readying and willing to provide stress-relief, good times and fun, fun, fun. Or drunkenness, to each his own! After picking up a few bottles of champagne for a bridal shower, I meandered over and remembered to buy a bottle of scotch for my dear friend who watches my dog...often. The selection is extensive at each price point, and after finally choosing based on label, I was on my way. I'll report back if it was a bad choice. For the record, most champagne over $10 is a good choice. Life lesson right there, friends. What else? *An entire cheese counter with snackable snacks. *A full service bar encased by floor-to-ceiling windows. *Friendly/helpful staff that will assist with loading your car (for big orders!) This is the place to buy cheese in Chicago. The wine selection here is good - with reasonably priced wines consistently in stock. The selection of top-end wines is slim, especially Australians. But this is THE place to buy cheese in Chicago, thanks to Gary, the best cheese monger in Chicago. I know a bit about cheeses, and have been ordering cheese shipments from my favorite NY cheese store (Ideal Cheese, 1st Ave) since returning to Chicago. Gary not only has a great selection, he's knowledgeable, doesn't bluff, and is teaching me more about cheeses. Call ahead and be sure Gary is working when you go in. read more

Binny's is the Library of Congress of liquor stores. Good luck making a choice, as there are so many different varieties of every type of alcohol you could likely ever want here. You can purchase single bottles of beer to try them before moving to the four or six-pack. And there are so many to try from all over the world. You might as well grab three or four for sampling. For God's sake, don't come here and buy Bud/Miller/Coors Light. There should really be an ordinance against such behavior. They even have their own parking lot, so you can avoid The King's evil pay boxes. Some are lucky enough to be able to walk here. Always worth making a special trip here. read more

I worked a Chivas Regal tasting tonight at this location. I thought I'd see the same old things I always see at Binny's. To my surprise, I really liked this place. It's located on the second level of the building. Parking is on the first level, and there is an escalator up to the store. A convenient cart escalator assists those with large liquor purchases. The best part about this Binny's is the bar inside. There is a bar called The Tasting Room. It is over to one side of the place, almost in it's own world, but still open and connected. The employees seemed to be very helpful and friendly. I would definitely shop here if I was in the area and needed some booze. read more
