I came yesterday Sunday February the 15th. Had a appointment. Waited a hour just for the front girl to tell me that i cant make a donations cause I have tattoos. Never heard of this. Ive given blood plenty of times. Then she tried to tell me i need 2 inches of visible skin on my arms. Never heard of that either. The policy states that you have to wait 4 months after getting a tattoo to come back and donate. No where does it say anything about not being able to donate with tattoos in your policy. Thinking about donating? Think twice with this place. My first time donating the staff completely screwed up and stuck the needle too deep into my arm, then a literal teenager in a white coat came up and pulled the needle halfway out of my arm. This resulted in the needle shooting out of my arm and blood started running down my arm. I started feeling nauseated from the blood loss, so they called a nurse and this lady looked like she hated her job, like it was a chore to come out of her office to help. She did stick me right the first time though and hooked an IV into my other arm to pump me with saline because of the blood loss. This resulted in me feeling extremely cold to the point of shivering uncontrollably and it felt like I was being exerimented on like a guinea pig. I had to go see the nurse and wait half and hour to stabilize. The girl who helped me told me she "wants to quit" and that "she hates it" The first girl who initially stuck the needle in my arm was chewing gum, and I asked her if she went to medical school for this and she told me "no, they train you here" which explains why the staff are so useless. They're literally kids who don't know what they're doing, entrusted with sticking needles into your arms and playing with your blood. Today I scheduled my second appointment (after the disgusting bruise finally healed from my first visit) which took 3 weeks. Everything was fine until I got sat in the chair, an incompetent, air headed blonde girl just stood around chatting with the homeless looking guy next to me with a bubbly attitude all while ignoring me, I started getting frustrated because she was tending to other people all while ignoring me even though she called me over to sit down. In retrospect I think she wanted to avoid sticking a needle in me because she didn't trust herself to do it. Which is alarming enough but then some black kid wearing a HOODIE over his head with a lab coat slapped on top came over. I already had a bad feeling about this kid because i sensed the lack of professionalism from the start. Sure enough, he didn't even get my veins bulging enough before he went to sticking the needle in. He basically just guessed where my vein was, and it HURT even more so than any other time I've ever been stuck with a needle. He asked "do you feel any pain?" YES. Then he started to move the needle around in my arm, pulling it back and forth in and out of the hole. I was not going to let this idiot continue so I asked him to take the needle out. He looked puzzled, and said "well you aren't getting the donation then" to which I replied "yeah I'm not donating today" He seemed insulted by this, he should be glad I didn't make a scene and tell him that he sucks and to get someone else but sadly, there is no one else. All of the kids on the floor suck balls. The nurses are the only ones who can stick you right and you'll have a miniscule chance of complications. These idiots on the donation floor though? None of them look competent or professional and they all seem to be community college kids who just got the job. This is only a job to them. You'll have to sit there and wait while they chat with eachother in front of you, trying to work out when their next break will be because they can't stand working and would rather be in the back somewhere hiding away doing nothing. Absolutely awful incompetent, brainless staff. The patients here range from regular people who look gullible, poor people down on their luck, obvious drug addicts or just trashy people. Alot of black people and the whole vibe is just desperate and gross. I could use an extra $100 but my god if it wasn't such a pain in the a*s to do this it would be fine. Somehow every time I come here I regret scheduling an appointment. They had me go and get a doctor note saying if my foot was healed and I gave them a paper saying it would be healed in a month if that. Went in today for my first ever donation. Upon reviewing all information online of their website nowhere did it say I would be denied or discriminated against for being a veteran with PTSD. First responders, Law Enforcement and Military we are higher risk for PTSD but to sit there and not identify this immediately prior to appointment I wouldn't have wasted my time. Past surgeries- if surgeries are disqualified from 10+ years ago, you need to say so on your website. As a Veteran advocate across the U.S. I have already and will continue to inform my fellow veterans to stay away from BioLife, to refuse someone for PTSD without a logical, reasonable or educational reasons is beyond ridiculous. read more

My very first visit I was there for 4 hours. I had an appointment and it seemed like every walk-in was ahead of me. The staff was not clear and concise on showing or explaining how things work at this facility. I was in a constant state of confusion on what I'm supposed to be doing. Once I finally got into a chair to donate after 3 hours of waiting around, the phlebotomist butchered putting the needle into my right arm giving me a hematoma. They told me I wouldn't be paid for my time there unless they try taking plasma from both arms so a Different phlebotomist put a new needle into my left arm. And after this terrible experience they ended my session early because of my insufficient plasma volume. Even though it was such a bad experience, I went back today because I really need the money. I had no appointment because up until this point people haven't needed one. There was a ridiculous amount of walk-ins on my first visit. Not to mention I've been dropping my boyfriend off at this location 2 times prior with no appointment and he got in just fine. So I was surprised when I walked in today and a worker at the front counter said we need appointments. The first time I was there a nurse said that I don't have to make an appointment unless I have to do a physical with my donation. Clearly none of these employees really communicate with each other or really know what's going on. He scheduled us appointments because of all of the confusion. Mesquite, TX location Everyone is friendly enough but the staff are not all on the same page. One says, we can't tell your iron levels. Then why have you sent me home a few times saying my iron was low? Nobody knows the payment plan. One person told me the week doesn't start over, but that was a lie when my payment didn't go up. Horrible experience... for a week now I'm having issue with staff taking correct BP. Thursday I got denied donation bc my reading was 101, I set for 10min , second reading 122, my watch showed 93. I spoke to cari she was of no help. Then coming out of the bathroom I overheard staff talking about me , asking if she still here or left . So I turned around to give them peace of my mind . Your equipment or lack of training how to do reading shouldn't affect donors . Saturday I come again , first reading 109, I requested supervisor, second reading 87, but Kris puts my temperature 98, instead of second reading , puts 3rd reading 87... and I still get denied . Even with 98 I should still be allowed . Kris was of no help , told me sorry but nothing I can do . Today May 6, 2021, the Bio-Life Arlington, Texas the needle sticking was very painful by the phlebotomist, then after they adjusted the needle two or three different times because the machine kept stopping. As I was about 100 ml away from finishing the plasma donation the machine stopped again. The phlebotomist said we have to switch arms and finish, I said NO! Then she said it will cut the donation payout. I said NO, I'm NOT WASTING more time or going through any more pain. After that, I had to see the nurse and wait 30 minutes since I didn't get saline. If I didn't wait, the manager said they could ban me from donating again. Bio-life policy doesn't care about the pain and discomfort they put you through due to the needle stick that hurt. It was not just a quick pinprick that stung. It felt like I got stabbed. Even the manager has no sympathy, it's all about policy and supposed safety. Though nevermind my pain, discomfort, and WASTED TIME I'm all for want to do good for someone that could use blood plasma. Yet when Bio-Life causes me pain and doesn't understand why I don't want to WASTE more time and go through another needle stick in my other arm. And on top of all that, they cut my payout. This is WRONG of Bio-Life Not sure the money is worth it. Also, beware the WAIT TIME is long, they are understaffed, and Bio-Life is habitual about saying you need a blood spee because your protein was low. If you are looking to donate plasma, please read my review because this is my first time coming to attempt to donate. I went with a friend, and make sure before you come to your actual appointment, make an appointment online or via the app. Once you have your appointment set up, you come on your actual day, and if it is your first time make sure you a lot at least 2 1/2 hours. The whole process from when you check in as a new person, get your blood checked, your weight etc., then donating the actual plasma does take around 2 1/2 hours. So if it is your first time keep in mind this is going to be the process. First you get checked in, you'll get your temperature checked and you must be wearing a mask, you cannot come in with a face shield. They will reject you. Although they do have mask to provide but that may not be the case when you come so make sure you have a mask. Next, you will have a person who will identify with either your Social Security card or a passport and your ID. It must be a drivers license. They will ask you your address confirmation and a few other personal questions. Once you are done with us screening you go back into the waiting room where someone then will get your blood pressure, get your finger pricked, and your weight. After you're done with that you'll then go into a room with an actual nurse practitioner or I believe is a nurse, who will then give you a physical exam. They will ask you really personal questions such as what kind of health concerns do you have, what kind of surgeries have you had in the past and etc. After you were done with that, you are now ready to give blood, what you have to do is you'll lay down they're going to find a vein, now the needle does hurt but the process does not. Please keep in mind that you must be hydrated and have eaten a very hearty meal before you come. They do offer snacks before and after. They also offer water. Once you are in the donating process with the needle, keep in mind it'll take about 45 minutes. Once you're done keep in mind that you will be coming back for at least seven more times to collect the total amount that they promise. For example you may need to come seven times for the total of 500 or $600 that is advertised. There are days where you get an extra 50 or $60, and you do get extra money for referrals. This is a time we're donating plasma and blood is really needed so I hope my review help somebody who was really interested in what the processes when you come inside. Also I want to note that if you have any heart issues kidney or liver, you may need a doctors Letter stating that they approve you to donate. read more

This is the worst location you could go to. I had friend tell me to go to Burleson instead, but wanted to give this a try because it's closer to my location. I got there at 9:15am and didn't leave until 3:30pm. They have the slowest process system I have ever encountered. I showed them my social and it took them three hours alone to get that in the system. After already pricking my finger and completing my physical, they told me they couldn't take my plasma because I have a SERVICE DOG with paperwork!!! They said I could have someone come pick the dog up so I could finish my process. Keep in mind the dog has been there already for 5 hours without any issues. This African America lady told me I have 10 min to have someone pick up the dog. The friend was in the parking lot, even though asking a service dog to leave is already inappropriate, she said after 7 minutes that I can't proceed with my appointment after being there for SIX hours! She said I can start my process back over on Thursday without my service dog. I'm expected to spend another 6 to 7 hours in two days to start this over due to them being against my service dog and lack of attention she had with the dog already being there. I was told that I would have to go through all the screening procedures, including the ~weeklong wait to check if any medications will disqualify from donation. I'm not sure what changed 2 years ago but it's so inefficient now. 9.5 times out of 10, you arrive for you appointment (you have to schedule online), only to find a line for the screeners, once past there you get to wait in another long line for at least 30 minutes standing next to ropped off beds. Why did you guys remove all the machines when clearly you have the need. Then it's incredibly infuriating to watch the phlebotomist stand and have conversations while you are waiting. No one has any sense of urgency, I'm not sure if this is bc of a lack of good management so they just don't care or they are just crappy employees. I've gone to other places and they are way faster and more efficient, unfortunately they aren't a convenient drive.
