Everyone is friendly and have never had an issue. At times it can be busy and running a little behind, but that's where we, as donors, need to make sure we have ample time to donate. Have seen many rude, impatient people when having to wait in line for as little as five minutes. I don't understand the entitlement people think they deserve. Don't enjoy going there? Don't go. I accidentally hit no on the questionnaire when it should have been yes, I immediately knew what I did the second I did it but there was no way to go back to correct it. I was then told I needed to wait to see the one nurse on staff. There were a number of people ahead of me waiting to get physicals, etc. so I had to wait my turn for this quick fix. Absolutely ridiculous! This needs to change so other personnel can correct issues like this?! read more

On February 3rd ,2026 I went for my first time to this location to donate plasma. After going through the process I came across the last step which was getting my physical done by a lady. She welcomed me in her office and was told to get on the table for her to start( I have physical therapy limitations) that had prohibited from me getting on the table and was looking for assistance either by her or something like a step stool, but she didn't offer for any help not even physically assisting me. She stated there was no stools in the area and that at the very minimum I should try to get on the bed, these where also the same beds used for the lobbies that ifni cant get up in the office the lobbies would be the same. Then she proc not tell me that do to my phys diagnosis I wouldn't be able to donate because that diagnosis neeeds for plasma to be used as well. I stated to her I've had it all my life and 10 years ago I had given plasma with no problem. overall the experience was sadning considering that couldn't even something as simple as a step stool ( I'm 5'3) that step stool could have made a positive impact, but she didn't even bother going the extra mile. I've been a donor for over 6 months. When I first started I was in and out in an hour. Totally different story now. I now wait 10 minutes to answer the questions, another 20 minutes to get checked in and another 20 minutes to get back to the beds. Oh, also, the time you wait to even begin the plasma donation, at least another 10 minutes. I usually go to the Sun Ray Shopping Center location in St. Paul. Completely ridiculous. They have lowered the donor cash, have fewer employees and upped the number of donors they take per time slot. It's defiantly not worth it. I gave 2 stars because the employees that are working are generally nice. read more

I've been donating at Biolife for 5 almost 6 months. For the most part for awhile things were ok. The waits are better because they cap now, but let me tell you, they have so many rude employees and they do not hold back on their rudeness, it's appauling. with that being said- the ones that are nice, are amazing. So many issues that they make the customers fault and inconvenience them. Numerous times they have stuck me incorrectly, wiggled it around asked someone else to do it and by the end I had a bruise- and they would tell me that. Instead of noting the account that this happened and there will be a bruise - they make you see the nurse every single visit until the bruise is gone, which adds on a ton of time to your appointment and to end up being there for over 2 hours easy. There have been times that I have waited in the chair ready to be hooked up for 40 minutes- no exaggeration- that makes the appointment to donate going on over 2 hours. Today I went in and I have dry skin on my elbows which was marked in the computer for me to see the nurse- which I always have and have had- I saw the nurse and she said she would take it out of the system - so I went back to the line and waited- they guy I got was so rude - no eye contact and not even a hello and when he spoke he was rude and I told him that. Then he sees the dry skin on my elbows and makes a face and starts to tell me I need to see the nurse. I tell him I already saw her right before him and it should be in the system and he said " it's not so you need to see her" and I said " you can have her come over because I'm not waiting in that line again" and he said no and then I was upset so my pulse was 103 due to that and I asked to see the nurse to make sure that note was put in and corrected as it was supposed to and the guy said " you can go over and wait and do it" I left.. They treat people badly. Did I mention I was there today for this visit for 55 minutes and NOTHING was accomplished. Biolife should remember, good word of mouth spreads, but 1 bad word spreads faster. Very unfortunate because it's for a good cause. This was the Moundsview MN location read more

Could have saved an hour of my time if they told me up front (or somewhere on their web page that details eligibility requirements) that anyone 66 yrs and older needs a physical release form from primary physician. They knew my age at registration but never said anything up to the final meeting with the nurse. They put me through finger poke, vein inspection, timed health screening questionnaire, etc. Over an hour after I arrived I was finally told I couldn't donate due to being 67 yrs old. Since it burned up their time too I'm assuming they're hoping your so invested by then that you'll get Dr's clearance and return. Seems deceptive at best. read more

I was pretty nervous going here because of the poor reviews other people had left. But after donating, I can honestly say it was a 10/10 experience. I didn't have to wait very long at all~ and even if I did, it is totally understandable having to wait a couple of minutes. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. As long as you treat other people with respect, they will treat you the same. My plasma 'technician'~ I believe her name was Deborah~ was amazing and super helpful. She explained to me what was going on, what to expect, and overall had a great demeanor. The women that initially helped me out front~ I can't remember her name~ was really awesome as well. They over book appointments so you stand in line and then you wait another 30 minutes to get stuck and they are way under staffed

I've been donating for several years. Most of the people are friendly and helpful most of the time. Sometimes it is slow and takes too much time. I have had some really good phlebotomists. Unfortunately they seem to be low-balling on the $ with no bonuses lately. read more

This place kept some of my personal medical information, not to mention my SSN on their private system for 13 years even though I never made a donation. Something about that just doesn't feel ethical. when being told that I would need a form filled out by a PCP (even though there is a note in my medical chart that states I can donate blood or plasma with no complications) the nurse was very rude and even admitted that they could've lost the form since I never came back for a donation in 2011. In addition, while trying to inform the nurse of the note on my medical record, I was told to be quiet so she could google if I was allowed to donate... she seemed more like an administrative assistant than a nurse. Very unprofessional. The staff is 50/50. In the hour and a half, I sat in the front lobby. I observed either very friendly staff or those who were annoyed by the very existence of patients coming in. In my opinion, biolife needs to focus on quality of care instead of how many people they can schedule. I'm sure the clients and employees of this company would greatly appreciate it if they did. read more

Classic bait and switch tactics. I understand the initial large payment was a promotion and I wouldn't continue to receive that much. However what they do lately is offer you an amount for the week, I schedule appointments, then before I can complete my second donation, they decrease the amount. In one week it went from $130 to $115! This is a huge scam! read more

The staff overall are wonderful. The pay for donating should be more. When they do a book test they tell u it takes about a week for the results. I have been waiting 3 weeks and nothing yet. You call and no one answers. You leave a message and no one returns your call. I have to drive there in person to get any info. That is not good customer service. read more

You allowing walk-ins making me wait 55 minutes to be process and get to a bed while I show up 2 min early for my appointment is going to drive me away. The intro bonus was aggressive and got me in the door, but with the way things operate here I don't think I will stay past the first 8 donations. The nicest aspect of bio life allowing appointments is what makes you special. If walk ins are allowed and you have a line of 20 people punishes those who planned ahead. I still have 3 donations left.... Also the arm mat things are super light weight and move all over the place. They don't compare to the nicer heavier ones at telecris. Minor issue, but I can't imagine staying here after a nearly hour long wait With an appointment. I hope leadership reads this and adjusts how/if they accept walk ins going forward. So.. I updated their business; and this is from what I experienced at this location. It is posted on their old page as well. Alright; this was my first time ever donating plasma.... I was late to my appointment too, they were really friendly!! Since this is your first time; I would recommend planning ahead. MUCH AHEAD, and leave ample time. I came at an early time; so going through the registration process was rather quick, in terms of how much I needed to do, however if you come around noon, expect to take more than 3 hours to register and to donate. (This is how long it took me; 2 hours registration, 1 hour donation.) Bring your photo id and social! The staff explained everything very thoroughly; all the processes and things that I had to do because I was a new donor. They give you ample attention because you are new. You also have to go through a physical. So... I'd recommend: wearing a sweatshirt, bringing headphones and something to keep you busy. Phone or book or something. Because you cannot move when you are donating and you cannot sleep, eat or drink in the donation center. My donation process was pretty swell; pretty quick, and don't forget a coupon!! Even with everything going on right now with COVID, these guys are doing such an amazing job! They are busier than ever and even when I had to call about a question I had, I did not feel rushed at all and the woman on the phone was very sweet and informative. There has only been one time when i went in to donate and one woman was a little rude and the needle hurt a little more than it usually does when she inserted it in my arm. However, everyone has bad days and I didn't want to let that effect my review of this place because almost everyone else I have talked with has been nothing but helpful, sweet and professional! Don't go here if you have any mental health history (including depression anxiety!!) I got poked and done paperwork for an hour before answering a test saying i had a mental health past, to which a nurse cautiously lead me to a back room and had someone give me papers to bring to someone knowing the extent of my mental health history. I go to my therapist, declined. I go to my PA, declined. Recently ive been needing to donate again, and after giving me the wrong fax number (sending off my mental health history to who knows) later saying the allina health clinic doesn't do mental health work (even though they did before, when biolife itself declined it). the person on the phone suggested someone who knew my history. Like a therapist. that already got declined. Or a psychiatrist. A multi hundred dollar visit that i haven't had in years. If you have any mental health history, you should probably just lie on that part of the test lest you be treated like an bomb and given the runaround. (i forgot to mention how many calls i made to this place trying to tell them my situation, all of which lead no where.) read more

Let's be clear, you are 'donating plasma' and will be 'compensated for your time'... Translation: you're selling plasma. Don't act like you're the hero who's only intention is going out of their way for the greater good of humanity. You're there because you're getting PAID. So don't expect catering and special treatment. If you want cookies, a pat on the back, a special sticker telling the world how selfless you are, and to be coddled and complemented, then you go truly donate to the American Red Cross or some other non-paid (not compensated) organization. If you're on time or a little early, drinking plenty of water in a day (not just slamming down as much as you can 30 mins before go time- being well hydrated speeds the plasma donation process), taking care of your body and eating right (think protein and iron, this matters!), are respectful and patient, and remember that you are a cog in a well oiled machine to which everyone (donors and techs) needs speed and accuracy, then your 'donation' process should be fine. Yes, selling plasma is uncomfortable and takes time, prepare for that. Use the restroom (they can't just stop the machine, pull the needles/tubes, then hook you back up after... again, slamming water last minute is moronic), grab a book or text a friend to distract you for the 30-60 or so minutes (maybe more, we are all biologically different) that you'll actually be hooked up to the machine. And please use headphones, respect your fellow donors. It can get cold in the last bit of the process when they infuse room-temp saline back into you so bring a little blanket, your coat to drape over you, or just be ready. Yes, it gets busy at times. You might be subjected to -omg!- waiting. So maybe scheduling your donation after work when everyone else is, might take longer. And you probably can't squeeze this in on your lunch hour unless you're prepared for the possibility of being late. The techs are kind and respectful, but they should not have to tolerate rudeness and impatience. They are humans just like you and your mother should've taught you that you'll get what you give. So smile, and they do too. Sorry that was so long, but I feel Biolife has been misrepresented. Some of the previous reviews seem to discredit Biolife for what it is due to negative personal experiences that sound largely like donor error/expectations. $80 to donate 2x in a calendar week (M-Sat). That's your selling price. If you feel the 'compensation for your time' isn't worth accepting your compliant roll as a cog in a machine, then go get coddled at the Red Cross. Enjoy your cookies, I'll take the $80. read more

I have been a Biolife Donor going on 11 years now, and had a very frustrating situation arise today. I regularly donate at the Mounds View location in Minnesota, and truly enjoy the staff there, including the manger, Nicole. When I went to donate today, I was referred to the front desk while completing my questionnaire. The front desk reported the issue would need to be discussed with the nurse. While talking with the nurse, I was notified that I am ineligible to donate, and would be deferred today due to test results from my labs not being available. When I asked why they were not available, it was reported that due to the recent winter storms in the southern states, test were delayed. I had my first blood sample on 2/11/2021, and then another on 2/25/2021, which was abnormal, but thought nothing of it. Apparently a batch of tests where lost due to the weather, and the new results are not here in time for me to donate. I get that things happen, and tests are delayed, but I was told that there was nothing they could do, and they were "very sorry". I would just have to wait for the test results to come back, before I could donate. The part that really frustrates me is that I continue to see a focus on the recruitment of new donors with the current and long term donors being left in the dust. You see $700 bonus for new donors, and even a $150 incentive to bring a new person to donate referred by you. Now that a long term donor has an issue that is out of their control, there is "nothing they can do". I would hope that a company that relies on returning donors would take care of some of their long term donors. I do want to say that the manager at the Mounds View Center, Nicole, was very compassionate with her apologies about the situation, but I do not want this frustration to fall on deaf ears. read more

Have tried to donate 3 times, Been turned away for various reason makes it really difficult to donate and sick of wasting time coming in.

If you're trans, don't bother. Everything was fine and dandy until that came up. Suddenly I'm not eligible and need paperwork from a doctor to prove that I don't "engage in risky sexual contact" when that was already asked in the 30 minute survey taken prior. HRT wasn't the problem either, since testosterone is on the list of approved medications. TLDR; Got denied as a donor because I'm transgender. read more

Went in to donate did the questionnaire, when checking my vitals my heart rate was 48 (needs to be 50) the nurse helping me said that i qualified for the athletic pulse meaning i could donate do to the nature of my physique but still wanted my to go sit for a couple mins which i was fine with. Untill 40 mins later still waiting for someone to take my pulse as i watch people who entered after me start leaving while i was put on the back burner as later appointments were being handled before my appointment. Unprofessional and dont care whos time they waste. read more

The new center is horrible! Not worth the time or money, no one tells you where to go or what to do and the new process is just a bunch of lines to wait in...and wait you will. The employees do not communicate with each other or the donors, no smiles don't expect to be treated like anything more than a bed to be filled. My time has been wasted for the last time! read more

I visited BioLife and everyone was super nice and friendly up until the point where I had to remove my coat. After removing my coat both the person helping with my paperwork and the lab tech jumped back. I have a full sleeve tattoo on my left arm and after seeing my tattoo they wouldn't touch me. The woman helping me was still really nice, but the atmosphere change with everyone. It was if i removed my coat to reveal a giant sore. The manager refused to speak with me and I was only allowed to talk with the nurse on staff. I was told their policy requires both arms to meet their standards to donate and my left arm disqualifies me due to the ditch area not being "clear". The techs have to be able to visually inspect the area and are unable to do so if it is colored in ink. The website only states "A recent tattoo may affect your eligibility to donate for a period of 4 months up to 12 months, depending on the state in which the tattoo was applied. You may be eligible to donate if your tattoos are older." Biolife not only wasted my time, but treated me like I was diseased. read more

Horrible experience. Towards the end of my donation i needed to go to the bathroom, bad. Multiple staff would not let me, even though i was clearly struggling. I could not sit still, so the needle popped out of my vein, filling my arm with saline. I noticed this when i got to my car, being that my upper arm now looked about double its normal size. I immediately went back in to see if if i would be ok. I talked to the nurse and she said i obviously had a hematoma, which she asked if she could show to other staff as they have never seen one this big. My arm was in so much pain i had to call in sick to work. A couple of weeks later and it seemed to be getting worse. I went back in to talk to the nurse and the center manager. I had extensive bruising, on both my lower and upper arm. The center staff confirmed that they were in the wrong, they should have let me use the restroom. I requested to be compensated for my lost day of work. The "manager" said she could not approve this, but would bring this up to her boss. After two weeks with no follow up, i went to their web site to file a complaint. Another two weeks with no follow up. So i called the center and talked to the person in charge. She had not been informed of this situation! I retold the story and she refused to compensate me, citing the waiver i signed before the donation. I said i understand the waiver, but she should take care of her client, at least some sort of goodwill gesture. She said she would talk to her staff and find out what happened and follow up with me. Im still waiting on that call, but im not holding my breath. Go someplace else, biolife only cares about their bottom line. Too much can go wrong and they will not take care of you. Iam still mortified, i dont think i will ever donate again i was so embarrassed and hurt. read more

Good location, friendly employees, beds kept clean. Busy during rush hours so it takes a bit longer then. Have a lot of promos for referrals and new patients. Parking can be tough at times. Free wifi and easy online scheduling. read more

I donated at the St Cloud Biolife and it was a much better experience than this clinic. They didn't seem to understand what was going wrong when the machine had problems. All they would do would tell me to keep pumping even though doing so made it more painful. They didn't investigate the problem and I eventually stopped going. I never had these problems at the St Cloud location. read more
