I used to donate twice a week at CSL in San Diego, and the bar they set is way too high for BioLife on Good Homes Rd in Orlando. Yesterday was my first donation with them, and the first time I saw a trail of blood dripping down my arm within the first five minutes of the donation process. Another lan technician came by to switch the needle from the left arm to the right, could not find the vein the previous technician found, and my donation was ended immediately without blood being returned. No accountability, either...they just talked to me like it was MY fault while the other techs have zero customer service skills or professionalism; they were shouting at me from across the room and loudly talking amongst themselves about break time and weekend plans. The worst plasma place to go and donate, they have employees who don't focus on the donors, always talking about their plans outside of work. Distracted while they stick your arm. Some of their employees aren't very experienced with all "vein" types. From the director down to management everyone could use some training. The male "manager" with long brown hair is a distasteful person with little to no patient or customer service skills, the head phlebotomist (light skinned balled guy with glasses) I believe he needs some training as well. I could name more employees but those 2 specifically were the guys I spoke to on my last visit who were very rude and disingenuous employees. I left CSL Plasma because they switched to new machines which between the machines, the long set up it was taking between 2 & 4 hours to donate. Biolife started out well but they've become increasingly unorganized and taking longer to donate to the point it's not worth it. I donate because I'm healthy and I can not for the $. I've been coming to the Orlando center for over a year on and off. When you get your initial promotion, be sure to schedule while you're in the chair. My first time coming the staff was very informative and make me feel safe. Considering donating? New Donor? Some types from a seasoned donor: -Give yourself a minimum of two hours to donate. An hour to donate and an hour to check in and wait. -Stay away from late appointments and lunch times if you can avoid. -Eat and hydrate before. -Upload any promotions prior to donating -You can request a phlebotomist (Miryan and Summer are awesome) -Bring a blanket or wear warm clothes. -Checkin is a small prick, donating is a bigger stick but not bad. A customer complained stating that he'd driven over an hour. He said I can't control what corporate does and who they schedule. We have to go home and we have to be finished by a certain time. It's not our fault." SMH. And I JUST witnessed him nearly get into an altercation with a super friendly donor. I witnessed everything and there is something not right with this guy, Sebastian. Management should address and watch security footage. Please please PLEASE consider giving management/supervisory authority to individuals like Miryan, Summer and a lovely black lady with a beautiful Afro puff, I wish I knew her name. I appreciate they're professionalism, safe and swift service. I appreciate the new machines as they get you out quicker but you definitely feel it. I wish they would stock the center with hand soap and paper towels in the bathrooms. Also, masks would be great for clients and hand sanitizer at the questionnaire and vital station. Biolife Plasma Center - they opened a new Center at John Young, much closer to me than the one I used to go - at Good Homes. Everything is new and pretty clean. The technicians are friendly and work hard to keep the line that grows moving and the thing is that, there's only so much they can do. The lines are insane ! Why you -mangers- open so many slots at the same time if you don't have enough people to make it happen? Why the technician that checks the vitals has to be the one who leaves a donor waiting while they have to, also be the front desk? I was there for 55minutes and still have 9 donors waiting to go to the donation chair in front of me... You mangers can do better. read more

After making an appointment, I was asked to sit in the waiting area for 20+mins where I was never requested. I had a feeling this would take a couple hours, given it was my first time but there were MANY people there and it was not an inviting experience which was already nerve racking considering people were going to be poking and prodding you shortly thereafter. I have been donating for almost a year. Tge customer service is horrible. The office staff could care less. You feel like you are part a mill for money. I had an appointment scheduled to donate, but now they say I need a physical because my last one expired. no one tells you anything. my last appointment the customer next to me was throwing up and they proceed to put stinky vomit paper towels in the trash can next to me. I had to sit in a bed for over 35 minutes before they even addressed me. Everyone pushes you off to some else and no one answers your questions. very few of the phlebotomists even speak to you like you are a person. Just go and donate don't expect ANY customer service. Don't even bother. Your time and donation aren't worth any money to them. Although they sell plasma for 5-10,000$ you'll only be given 40$ each donation. This place profits off of people's bodies and then tries to act like this is all for a good deed. The staff would only care if you keeled over and died so they could harvest your organs for profit. Honestly doesn't matter when you book. (Day of the week or time.) Just be prepared to stand for no less than 2-2.5 hours in a walk in freezer. You'll be waiting in at least 4 separate lines. Once to do paperwork, once for testing, once again to be seated, again to be to be hooked up, and again to be disconnected. I don't think I've ever made it to the donation chair in less than 1.5hrs. The worst part is waiting an additional 25min to be disconnected AFTER you've completed with your donation. Makes it hardly worth the time it takes to donate. The staff up front seem to be rather nice and enjoyable, but the people drawing blood in the back and their management aren't the friendliest and seem more inconvenienced by your donation/visit. Common excuse you'll get is that they are understaffed and busy. COVID was 3.5yrs ago. Time to get your staffing and operations under control. Where do I post to complain about the loss of time. I get your notifications popping up on my phone to come in. I scheduled and arrive. After 30 minutes of waiting to be screened, I'm told you cannot accommodate me or the other 4 remaining donors. Wasting my time for the 2nd week in a row! What gives what kind of BS y'all shoveling? Why would I ever refer anyone to your device when you can't accommodate your current donors. Y'all should STOP sending notifications and promotions that you cannot follow through with. People are nice, wait is excessive, plan to spend a minimum of 2.5 hours there. Mgmt needs to hire more personnel. Now about my last visit. The tech must have missed my vein or went all the way through because the machine kept stopping. The tech appeared to be very knowledgeable about what was going on. He had to readjust the needle in my arm a few times. I think that's where things went wrong. I have the biggest bruise that went to my forearm and part way up my bicep. Now I have to wait till it heals. Is it their way of keeping some ppl away? It really didn't hurt much during the process but was asked a few times during the process. My experience is exclusively with the Good Homes Rd. Orlando location. Note that even though you HAVE TO make an appointment (no walk-ins), you will ALWAYS be there a minimum of 2 hours - even when the line is moving "quickly"! The staff is very hit-or-miss on whether you will be treated nicely or like cattle that is ignored and processed. And despite arriving at the designated time and waiting at least 2 hours, they may tell you that "if you're not in a donor chair by 7pm, you'll have to leave." They don't care how long you've been waiting or how far you drove to get there, they simply tell you to leave. read more

Well after being told on my app that I'm ineligible to donate they don't give you any notification but after twice of them cutting you for the day and you lose your plasma they don't tell you or let you know that you can no longer donate for another 8 weeks because your body needs to replenish nobody told me that after the first time they cut me because they're wonky mechanical system failed and they had to cut me . Number two they didn't tell me that the second time they cut me for no apparent reason even though my blood was flowing the dumb kid could not get a management to check my arm to make sure I was okay but no they decide they're just going to cut you and you lose plasma and now you can no longer donate for eight weeks so do yourself a favor go somewhere else because these people will just let you believe it's your fault when it's there fucked up system is fucked up and they don't know how to take care of people they don't know how to do management they don't know how to do a damn thing. They would rather you wait two and a half 3 hours of waiting in line even with an appointment to go ahead and waste your damn time and be cut so that you can no longer donate for a long period of time or at all. Note- the nurses are not trained well enough and I HAD BLOOD SPILLED EVERYWHERE!! I was a little skeptical when I first signed up but I really needed money so I decided to. The experience was okay , my first time took 5 hours. I went back for my second time today and had a horrible experience. I was watching a movie when I saw a nurse running over to me . I heard my machine warn the nurses a couple times but thought it was still telling them I wasn't pumping enough . I looked down and there was blood everywhere. There's not enough nurses per donors so no one noticed until there was a pile of blood all over the chair and dripping on the floor. Then to make things worse, they couldn't return any blood or saline back to my body and they decided to poke my other arm! Then of course , this arm started to drip blood everywhere. Also, this needle placement was extremely painful and I told the nurse and she left it anyways. The nurses are not trained enough to be here. I had 3 nurses try and poke my arms and they all failed miserably. No matter what money problems you're having, it's not worth your life. Stay home and stay safe. read more

I was very disappointed, had a appointment at set time, got in there was 25-30 people waiting to get vitals checked and only 2-3 nurses and they talked with each other most of the time I was there. 5-6 people waiting to give blood. Nope. I arrived at my appointment time. Sat there for 2 hours. Finally saw a nurse to complete my physical and then told me I couldn't donate today because they're closing. My next day is off is over a week from now, so I would have to redo the entire process again. So, I asked if I could still use the promotion code that I received from Facebook since it expired before then. She told me that promotion ended a month ago -Even though the company is still running ads for it online and the expiration date is 4 days from now. I told her they wasted my entire night off work and walked out. I had an appointment yesterday. I usually am not the easiest to find veins and I always express that but at one point the manager adjusted my needle mid donation. At that point i noticed that I was bleeding out and on top of that blood got onto my clothes. The best part about it was the bruise that I have gotten today. read more

I really have liked donating at this site. However, with Orlando having a pademic crisis, I am very concerned about not ensuring clients wear their masks correctly. I also want to know if I come and donate again can I ask for only those vaccinated work with me? Social distancing went away. This is very sad for me. I donated blood for about 40 years. I switched to donating plasma as another way to help people and also help myself. I am on a fixed income. But now I no longer feel safe. If your employees don't want yo wear masks outside of your facility that is fine, but then I expect them to be vaccinated. I worked many years as a quality auditor for companies wanting to get ISO9000 internationalquality standrads. You have good policies in place but obviously some of those working there don't feel like it is their job to keep other safe. You are in the medical profession and the number 1 priority ought to be keeping us all safe. I tried to call the facility, doesn't work unless you know some one's name. I came in to Donate on 10/25/2023 and the girl that was attending to me was digging around in my right arm and couldn't find a vein and caused a hematoma and then caused a hematoma in my left arm and caused me a lot of pain and discomfort. Botched job all the way. Awful!! read more

The staff is great. Super friendly and makes you feel comfortable. The reason for the 1 star is to warn you that you could wait up to 2 hours before the donation process. There is a reservation system, but it seems it's not limited. The staff are all working efficiently, but this facility is extremely understaffed for the amount of donors they allow in. I used to love this place, extra money, in and out in an hour. Now it's just obscene. 3-4 hour wait just for vitals, get hooked up, then bandaged. It only takes me 20 minutes to donate and I'm starting to wonder if Uber or something would be more worth it. The line for vitals lately is just crazy and will have only one person taking them. There's at least 50 people ahead of me... if you have kids, forget it. The staff is rude sometimes too, I get they're stressed and maybe overworked but maybe hire more people and don't take it out on your customers. We're the reason you have this job. I had a perfect vein that anyone could have stuck with a blindfold on and the inexperienced jerk pushed the needle right thru it. I had to tell her what she did AND ask for ice. Horrible!! You sit and wait. Then they take you for a vein check! Well, the 2 techs checking we're talking about all of their coworkers and how they just wanted to leave. They had nothing good to say about anyone or the establishment. The male even said that they better not give him another person. I was a phlebotomist and EMT for 8 years.
