**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Tour (which I will shorthand simply to the Lighthouse Tour) has been one of those "backyard adventures" I've been wanting to go on for the longest time. Eventually, I was able to partake in said adventure with my friends, Nate and Chops. Afterwards, I have to say that even for a probably "one-and-done" for a tour, it is definitely worth every penny spent. This tour was everything I wanted and loved, and it delivered. First and foremost, the actual business building for the Lighthouse Tour is nothing you have to worry about. According to all the tours, you will meet up at the Sands Space Museum and take a charter van to multiple locales on the tour. Before we get to the actual tour I partook in, it should be noted there are numerous tour options such as the museums alone, the lighthouse alone, or the full experience. Prices range from $35 (lighthouse only) to $65 (full tour). I went with the latter which includes numerous museums, historic launch sites, and the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse. It should also be noted that the more you do, the longer the tour. The full tour is four hours long. Please take note the things you need to check before the tour such as wearing shoes if you plan to walk up the five floors of the lighthouse, small bags allowed with small closed-contained foods and drinks only. Finally, you need to fill out a clearance check as all the stops, with the exception of Sands Space Museum, is on the Cape Canaveral Air Force Military Base. With those in mind, the full tour - known as the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse and Space Flight Tour - is all the stops if possible. I say "if possible" because some stops may be closed for maintenance or upgrades. For us, The Sands Space Museum, where the tour stars, was closed for renovation. However, the museum is free and not on protected property so I can go back and check it out. We visited four different launch sites, three museums, and the Cape Canaveral lighthouse. I personally loved the lighthouse and Hanger "A" which housed some of the larger historic rockets and jets that have helped bring NASA and the U.S. military where it is now. I personally was surprised that the first drone was used as target practice. I can't really detail everything I saw or this would become one my longest reviews, longer than I usually do. Just know that, like I said earlier in the review, for a possible one-and-done, it is worth every penny. However, if you really want to make sure the tour is a one-and-done, pay for the full tour. You'll have enough time to visit everything within the four hours, and if anything is closed, they'll take you to the Canaveral National Seashore, which was amazing because it is literally almost "untouched" by tourism. I will give this tour four out of five stars. I am not going to say consistency will earn the fifth star because only a super fan will take this tour numerous times... or work for the tour company. I will say that the lacking star has to do with the price. It can be high overall especially if stops are closed for some reason.

Great experience an excellent adventure for all in the family. Make sure add to you agenda.read more

We did the Mondo Tour with A Day Away Kayak Tours, and it was truly an unforgettable experience…read more Our guide, Brandi, was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and made the whole tour feel relaxed and fun. We saw so many incredible things throughout the trip. There were bioluminescence cone jellies, bioluminescent dinoflagellates ("dinos"), birds, a gator, and several manatees. The highlight was getting to see a mama manatee and her baby. It was such a special moment. Brandi shared so much interesting information along the way and had the perfect go-with-the-flow attitude that made the whole experience even better. You could really tell she loves what she does and cares about the environment and the wildlife. My husband and I enjoyed the tour so much that we both said on the way back that when we have kids someday, we want to come back and do this tour again with them. Thank you, Brandi, for helping make our honeymoon even more perfect. It was an amazing experience and we learned so much.

I am writing to share my review of the "Clear Kayak Bioluminescence Tour" that I took on May 23,…read more2026. The experience was unfortunately very disappointing. We saw no bioluminescence, which was frustrating given that we were told other tour operators warned their guests they might not see much. While we followed your specific instructions to cover ourselves in baby oil and DEET to prevent bugs, we saw no bugs either. Furthermore, the equipment was poor quality; the kayak had no foot pedals and felt more like a rowboat without seats, making it incredibly difficult to kayak the long distance in the wind. It appears that bioluminescent viewing is not ideal until mid-summer, yet you still had approximately 40 people signed up and charged $80 per person for a tour where guests saw nothing. I expected more transparency regarding the conditions.

It is so beautiful and remote and full of wildlife. The best part... it's free! This is a beautiful driving trail designed just for soaking up wildlife. Our favorite part of coming here is rolling down the windows and counting the various birds and alligators. At one time we counted 13 alligators in one drive. It's fun to see who can spot the most. The drive takes less than 40 minutes but if you really take your time and stop in the sections reserved for pulling over and parking you can spend hours here. There are various spots with viewing towers to overlook the reserve. There are also interpretive signs explaining the bird species in the area. I would highly suggest taking a detour next time you go to the Kennedy space center and taking a drive here. Also some advice is to bring drinks and snacks for the car because you may grow hungry on the remote drive.

While attending a conference…read morerecently, I needed a little bit of an escape and decided to head toward to coast to get my nature fix. I ultimately only chose to come here because it was the closest place with manatee viewing. I made the drive from Orlando, and made my first stop at the Visitor Center. If you have your America the Beautiful pass, you're all set, but I didn't get a new one this year, so I paid $10 for my visitor pass. Cin at the volunteer desk was super helpful and showed me where I should go. I ultimately decided on the Black Point Wildlife Drive - a 7-ish mile drive that provided some great opportunities to see various birdlife. If you're a birder - which apparently I've become - you'll enjoy this. I saw a variety of species almost immediately, and I bet there are even better times to come through this area to see larger flocks during migration. I took my time on the drive and enjoy the quiet and relative remoteness of the place. After that I headed east and then north to check out the Manatee Observation Deck by the Haulover Canal. I stayed here for a short amount of time, but didn't see anything. So on Cin's advice, I went back toward the Bairs Cove boat launch. And boy was this a treat. There were no people when I first arrived, but there were definitely manatees. After a while, a few other people showed up just for watching manatees - not to put boats in. One lady put her feet in the water and manatees came up and booped their noses on her feet. It was incredible to see these creatures in the wild - some of them mothers with little ones twirling around by their sides. The skies started to turn black, and while I personally missed the rainstorm, it was time to pack up and head out back to Orlando. I'm so glad I made the decision to come here, and I highly recommend it for any of those who are nature-lovers!

We felt like we were with family while on our tour because they were so kind, caring and fun to be with. I surprised my husband for his birthday and he enjoyed it so much , he said it was the highlight of his day. Our kids are already planning our next trip. They said they loved Mike and Jody so much they wanted to go to the zoo with them one day. Lol. We saw Dolphins, manatees, puffer fish, an alligator, pelicans, and herons. The boat "One Love " was comfortable, very cool and provided great shade. We had great tunes playing too. It was a wonderful experience and we will not only be back but will send others.
