We returned to Birch Hill Bistro. When we first went it was more of a counter experience, but it went through an amazing transformation. Birch Hill Bistro is now an incredible visual, gastronomical, cozy sit down restaurant experience within a market. So great. We felt like we were in a small bistro in Paris. Great design to match marvelous food. The menu has appetizers, canapés, caviar, entrees, and desserts. We had caviar donut and steak tartar canapés and a short rib papardelle to start. Our entrees chosen were Dover sole, sliced roast chicken with mushrooms and truffles, salmon, and steak. Truffle fries , pomme pouree. and sautéed gailan. DELICIOUS. Please ask for the bread. Went to Birch Hill Market for some veal cutlets and what a disappointment. First the guys have zero personality and if you ask a question it's like your bothering them. So I asked for 8 cutlets pounded thin. Walked out with a $55.00 bill ( highway robbery) but I figured you get what you pay for expecting them to be delicious. Get home to find a pile of thick narrow scraps that you couldn't even bread them. I called furious that I paid $55.00 for scraps and since it's by the pound I now know why they were so much. The butcher was rude and stated that he can't control the way the veal slices and I told him He can have the veal back and refund me and I'd never go there again. His response " well if you aren't going to ever come back why should I refund you". Can you imagine! Do not go there they are expensive, rude, zero personality and deserve to be out of business!!!! read more

We can not say enough great things about this place. The food is off the charts, people are very nice and if you ever have the opportunity to have Bryan cater an event for you- TAKE IT. He was more than a chef (and an awesome one at that), he was our go to guy, our fixer, our wedding planner and advisor. We had our wedding at baileys arboretum and if it weren't for Bryan it would have been a disaster. Not only did he make delicious food, he CAME WITH US to help pick out which rentals we needed (saved us a lot of money by only getting what was needed and not extra fluff). He went even further by meeting us at Baileys and helping us figure out a new layout for our ceremony and reception when Baileys decided to put a giant patio where we wanted to have our ceremony (8 weeks before our wedding). Bryan continuously came through for us and we can not thank him and his team for everything they did. I'd give this place ten stars if I could. read more

I go into this Market just about every week. They have everything you could need or want and more. The market is a cute little place and packet with everything you would ever need. I recently went in this morning looking for steaks for dinner, one of the employees Shawn over heard me on the phone saying what I needed for dinner but couldn't find it. Shawn politely interrupted and asked if he could help. He helped me find the perfect steaks that I needed to make dinner for my boyfriend and I, in addition he even got the butchers to marinate the steak for me. He really saved my dinner, and went above and beyond for me. It's nice to go into a place where help is offered and you get exactly what you needed and leave with a positive outlook. Best around. Steaks are cut to order, sausage is made on premises so always fresh, nice variety of seafood; they also have lots of specialty meats like duck, rabbit, etc. Feels like a classic European butcher shop. Clean place, owner works the counter and is willing to offer advice on how to cook things or what sides to pair the meat with. The have a nice selection of prepared foods. It's hard to find an old-school butcher with reasonable prices, but Birch Hill is it. I don't buy meat anywhere else. read more
