I was really excited to try this restaurant. I love French food and there just aren't a lot of spots on LI serving traditional French cuisine. First impression walking in was that it was a pretty space with coffered ceilings and beautiful lighting. After were seated and ordered drinks our waiter returned to let us know that they were unable to make a Kir, a classic French cocktail made with crème de cassis. I consider this odd for a spot marketing themselves as a French restaurant and cocktail bar. So I ordered a cocktail with something called Italicus. When I inquired as to what that exactly was, I was simply told it was a liqueur, which was the obvious assumption...& when I asked what kind of liqueur it was, the waiter had no idea. Let me save you the pain dear reader and tell you that it's a bergemot liqueur that is floral and more sour than sweet. Moving on to the meal. Food was good but not great with a few misses. The cheese plate was tiny and not up to snuff quality wise for the price point. There are so many AMAZING French cheeses. Maybe a collab with a local cheesemonger would be helpful? The mussels in mustard sauce were excellent but please, for the love of all that is holy, serve them with bowls instead of small plates so that the sauce doesn't go everywhere. And also, give the people bread to lap up all of the delicious sauce. We asked for it but it never came, sigh. The Coquille was tasty with a delicious sauce but the number of scallops served in the dish appears to have dwindled from 5 to 3, which was not noted on the menu or mentioned by the server. I cannot stand a bait and switch so L'Etoile if you read this, when you post photos of dishes on your official socials, then that is the dish I am expecting to receive. You clearly see 5 scallops and not 3 on their IG posts of this dish. My entree was a nightly special, fluke, but the first bite was full of bones so it went back. Looking back at the photo, it also looks like it's just sitting in butter. Dessert was also a disappointment. I love crepes flambéed with grand marnier. They should taste primarily of rich, buttery caramel and sweet orange flavor, with a boozy warmth from the flambéed liqueur. The sauce should be decadent and slightly caramelized. Unfortunately, the sauce on this version was so sour and tart with none of the buttery caramelization. It tasted like tart orange juice. Service was just alright. There were only two servers for the entire dining room. Initially it was fine but once the space filled up, we couldn't get another drink, our water glasses went unfilled, and when I had a problem with my entree, my dining partner had almost finished their food before I could flag someone down. As I mentioned, I ordered one of the evenings specials but my first bite had three bones!! Not acceptable at the price point of the dish. They did remove it from the bill. Three stars for the cocktail, delicious mussels, and coquille, and Gratin dauphinois (although if you're a purist and expecting thin slices, you won't get them lol).

We had such a great first visit to L'etoile for Valentine's day! The staff was excellent and our waitress Julia was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. All the food was amazing- from the french onion soup, lobster bisque soup (that had a full lobster), and escargot. For our mains we got the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and the NY prime strip steak with french fries! The restaurant is so beautiful and we had a great evening! We will definitely be coming back!

The server was amazing, explained each part of the menu. The ambiance was perfect. The food was mouth watering good. Everything we choose was perfectly cooked (or raw) exactly how it should be

The shishito peppers were blistered just right with great flavor and a little kick. Simple, but done well. The smash burger was the standout. Cooked perfectly with a great sear, juicy inside, and topped with melty cheese and pickles that balanced everything. Add the truffle fries and it was game over. Crispy, flavorful, and generously seasoned. The Greek salad was fresh and bright, with good quality feta and olives. A solid, refreshing balance to the heavier dishes. Service was exceptional. Attentive without hovering. The decor is warm and stylish, great energy without being too loud.

The free bread is good and they did give us more when we asked for it. It also came with some olives which my husband loved. The corn muffins were also great. The mojito was only mediocre and the Guinness ok. The filet mignon and branzino and accompaniments were very good quality, with the steak and fish perfectly cooked as we ordered them. The sauces though were bland and uninteresting. The lava fudge cake didn't have real fudge and the cake tasted stale. The ambiance was very nice though and the seating comfortable with booths and comfortable chairs. Overall fun nicely decorated spot but don't think I'd go again.

The vibe feels upscale and relaxing, great scenery, and a perfect summer dinner setting. The drinks were refreshing and the jumbo shrimp dish had great flavor and looked just as good as the photos. The staff checked on us but moved a little slower because it was busy. A little pricey, but you're really paying for the beach views, ambiance, and overall experience. If you want the best scenery, outdoor seating is worth it....just be prepared for it to get warm before sunset and also you're not allowed to walk on private beach. Overall great experience and I recommend for the views.

I however DID NOT like that they automatically added 20% gratuity on the bill for 2 people. This was a turnoff. The tip should be based on the service you received or for large parties

I had the wedge salad and asked for it to be chopped. Done. Then I had Chicken Marsala. My husband and friend had salad with salmon and the roasted chicken. Overall, the food was delicious! Service attentive. I'd go back but I'd take someone with whom I didn't want to have a conversation - too loud. Haha Otherwise it would have been a 5 star review. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed her birthday. The waiters came and sang "happy birthday." My wife brought cookies so we ate cookies and ice cream. Great memories for our family! The Market received high marks for excellence in food and service! If you're in the North shore of Long Island the Marker restaurant is a must. Good food and safe travels! My favorites of the night were the pastas and steak. We were lucky they allowed us to book a large party dinner, so my photos of the food are all "family style" servings. If Parmesan is too strong of a flavor for you, you may want to avoid the cauliflower since it is soaking in the sauce (delightful for those who enjoy it). Pastas were all handmade and interestingly shaped! My favorite was the Maltagliati, thin al dente ribbons sliding through a light flavored seafood sauce and tender succulent chunks of shrimp :) Everyone else chose the Gramigna as their favorite-- the curved thick ridged pasta reminded me of bucatini, which worked well with their ragu-like sausage sauce. The Garganelli had a long twisted penne-like shape but was not as al dente, a tad overcooked. It had a tasty vegetable-forward flavor. For entrees, the salmon was either poached or sous vide, making it very tender and moist which was a big contrast to the herb-crusted skin. That part mostly tasted burnt to me. The steak came pre-sliced, and it was tender but also had a nice chew -- perfect! The taste with the peppercorn sauce and mushrooms was really nice. Would definitely get that steak again, and I don't even like meat that much! And for dessert, the chocolate cake was a little dry even though it sat in a puddle of vanilla sauce. The crostata's green apple filling was sweet and tart, yummy! Things I think could be improved: the sizzling shrimp and salmon both had burnt/charred parts. Could be part of the charm, but it took away some of the enjoyment because it just tasted burnt. The small space was filled and busy all night, and it was a little loud as well. Their service was excellent; waiters looked polished in their white outfits and acted the part. It made for a lovely outing-- the birthday boy announced Gioia was his new favorite Italian restaurant! Definitely try this cute little spot out. I will be thinking about the pastas and the steak :D
