What a joke!!! Decided to leave after 5 holes since marshall wasn't doing his job. I am No professional by any means and wouldn't even consider myself a good golfer but when there are five groups backed up at one hole there's a problem. Worst part is the marshall kept driving by the group that was causing the back up and wouldn't do anything about it. It was two couples in two different carts sharing clubs so they had to follow each other to every ball every 10 feet to swap clubs. On the bright side the cart girl was very nice so that made the five holes that I played somewhat enjoyable. Lesson learned I guess what to expect for a $34 round. Cancelled next weeks reservation and will not be back. I would like to give Nellie the General Manager some props as I was contacted almost immediately after this review was posted offering me a free round to make up for todays experience. Not sure if I will accept it as I wasn't looking for any sort of refund, but the contact and offer is much appreciated. read more

Played golf yesterday and I actually really enjoyed myself with my wife and daughter. Our 4th did not show up, and we went out with just the three of us which was great, and it really did not seem crowded yesterday. We play here quite often. I would even consider myself a regular, my complaint is halfway through my round. I got a $10 charge on my credit card. I asked about it and it was for the canceled 4th person. I guess that is their policy, but I still did not appreciate it. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way, so after the round, we did not have lunch there we went elsewhere. read more

Decided to hit the golf driving range and the business says open at 6am. I was waiting for 15 minfs for them to open. Young guy walks in like not a care in the world. I have heard complaints from other people who play golf their. Change in management is really hurting your business and patrons. Decided to go to Brea Creek, since they always open on time. I'm a regular here and the course is a pretty good value for the money. Definitely need to work on the tee boxes. A bit of constructive criticism for the staff in the club house....muti-task please. The bartender won't even acknowledge your existence until it is your turn. A simple "I'll be right with you" and/or "what would you like" would allow them to consolidate movement and serve more people faster since most people either have to get to the first hole or continue their round on the 10th or 14th hole. Finally - Your breakfast burritos are the bomb! :). Please go back to the old salsa which had nice roasted pepper flavor. The new ones are way to watered down. read more

My buddy and I have been playing here every Sunday for over 2 years. It was cheap and the staff was friendly. UNFORTUNATELY, the best employee DON quit last week because of new management. My buddy and I would go out early and pay after. All was good for as long as we've been coming here. We would always pay afterword and nobody ever had a a problem with it. THEN last week apparently it was not okay. We heard through a friend that the new female manager chewed out Don for letting us go early like we always have. That led to him leaving. 50% of the reason we went to Birch was because of his amazing attitude and realizing that we were all out there to have fun. Great dude. Also, last week when we paid afterwards we were treated poorly by this female manager. Super rude and advised us that what we've been doing for 2 years was unacceptable. Treat your customers and employees better Birch. We won't be coming back unless Don gets his job back. If you read this Don we are so sorry your management sucks. Do better Birch. read more

The course is a little rough around the edges and apparently nobody fixes their divots but we still love this little course in Brea. The staff without exception are friendly and kind, the range is good for lounging, having an adult beverage and hitting golf balls and the restaurant and bar is outstanding. The course is actually a bit of a challenge especially if you struggle with par 3s like I do. It's perfect for a quick 18 after work and some dinner and drinks after the round. This is my weekday go to and I do not ever see that changing. read more

This golf course is amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the golf course was beautiful and very well taken care of. It shows that the staff​ loves where they work at and everything was just outstanding . The food was cooked to perfection and the service was amazing. They took care of us like we were family. Thank you BRIAN for inviting us back! We had a good time. It was a fun experience returning to finish the game cut short nearly two months ago. It looked like the course is in great condition given the season and time of year. The renovations and new design have been growing on me over the years. Mostly par 3's but a few par 4's are sprinkled in a 18-hole round. The putting greens really were challenging to read depends on the ball's lie and green's slope. Water hazards only on the back nine. Good little executive course for practice. GOLFER TIPS: Keep up the pace of play. No marshals on the course, but c'mon follow golf etiquette and rake the sand traps pleeease. If you plan to come here and play during Summer 2019, I recommend splurging on the golf cart or start walking VERY early in the morning. Pack plenty of water and sunscreen. Their golf carts have an ice chest; only thing missing is the ice so bring your own ice if you want. read more

Our Golf Club just completed our first tournament at Birch Hills. All of the participants enjoyed the course (23) and unanimously asked for the club to return to Birch Hills next year, perhaps twice. The course was in good shape and fun to play. Due to the length of the course you can expect to complete it in 3 1/2 hours or less. Each of the staff members we encountered were customer service focused and a pleasure to deal with. This included the Pro-Shop Manager, Starter, Ambassador wait staff in the Café. We could not ask for a better experience and we'll be back for another round. read more

I started back with golf after a 10 plus year layoff after retiring in January 2021. I chose Birch because it is well suited to broad skill levels. In March when I started back, the course was struggling in terms of upkeep and needed a great deal of repairs. Apparently, Brea had taken management of the course recently. It needed a lot of work. I have to say I am impressed with the progress repairing and upgrading the course. In March, there was more dirt patches than grass. This situation has markedly improved. I hope that Brea will keep putting resources into this property. On the issue on customer treatment, most of my fellow retirees that work there feel more like friends (no comment on the gen Zer's). Although, the restaurant has had staffing problems at times, I have been very happy with the food and service most of the time and make it a point to eat there several times a month. Since my retirement in early 2020, this has become my favorite fun place. I am usually there three times a week. For my skill level, this course is perfect! For low to intermediate level golfers like me I highly recommend this course. Oh! Be sure to join the players club. Best money I ever spent! read more

A lot of par 3 holes. The fairways are nice when the grass is kept short. The greens have a lot of divets and are very patchy which makes it very hard to predict the path to the hole. The poorly manicured greens are the reason I gave it four stars. read more

Today the course was especially tough with some impossible pin positions and many mud areas. The green speeds were not "amateur" quality - more fast than expected. Still some of our amateurs managed net par. As usual the best parts of BH are the courteous and friendly people who welcome you there and the kitchen/servers who make great foods and serve you with a welcome attitude. I'm asking myself again why I paid for the rewards membership? I don't recommend this course. No Customer Care. No appreciation for customers. Don't waste your time calling the "Pro Shop" they never answer the phone. Only course I know that doesn't ever answer the phone. I went down to the course to see if it was open or what was going on. Once I got there I went into the pro shop and saw they weren't even busy. Then I proceeded to call the pro shop while standing there and heard the phone ringing, the shop attendant looked at the phone and just let it keep ringing, rude! If you're wanting to speak to GM Nellie Green you might as well save your time and energy with that as well, she's never available and doesn't respond to messages, rude. Again no customer care. All golf courses have a 24 hour cancellation policy but this is the only course that still charges you even when you call ahead of time and cancel every other course I've played where I've needed to cancel has never ever charged me, Birch Hills is the only one, again no customer care. This course use to be a full length 18 hole course then they built a bunch of houses making it into an 18 hole that's the length of a 9 hole course. If you like hitting your wedges on every hole this is the course for you. read more

My son and I are both members at Birch Hills golf course and Brea Creek which is the same ownership. Birch Hills has a very nice little restaurant in there and the staff is helpful especially the girls working there. They work very hard and they're very pleasant. Mike at the front counter, who collects the green fees is very pleasant and easy to deal with not to mention some of the others that work there. The course itself condition wise is about a six out of 10 but what do you expect? It's just a public course but it's still very nice for working on your short game. And lately the pace of play has been really good the last three rounds. The greens could be a little fast when you're putting so be careful, but all in all I feel a great place for the money. read more

The customer service is lacking, the course closes early all the time, the kitchen closes way to early, is always out of items and they got rid of band night. It feels like the employees are miserable there and it's not managed well. It would do well to have a complete overhaul of management and properly trained employees and a huge uptake on customer service and community needs. read more

Pretty good for what it is. Tiny pitch and putt course with a couple of par 4s that play like long par 3s. Don't really need driver here even to reach the greens on these par 4s. Greens roll really fast which was nice except players here do not repair ball marks. Great course for kids, seniors, and anyone new to the game. Because the high number of beginners be ready for the longest round of your life. 5 hour pace on Saturday on a course that should take less than 2 hours. I still enjoyed my round here and I'll be back to introduce beginners and my kids. Won't be back to play a normal round for myself. read more

Came here for the first time played 18 holes with a good friend. Great positive energy from all over the place. The staff was really friendly and the food was really good I got their normal burger and my friend got the bbq bacon burger. The patty was so juicy placed on a brioche bun, and the fries were cooked to perfection which made it crispy. You can go up to the drive thru and order your food there as well. Also, you can take your food and drinks with you on the course. There is an employee that drives around in a golf cart full of drinks and snacks. She was super friendly and helpful. Always have a good experience here. Not a championship course but some good par 4s to get ur driver out and always in good shape. It exceeds my expectations for value and conditions. Place is clean and all the employees are nice. Pace is always good, it backs up in the first par 4 but normally wide open after that. The driving range is nicer than most (balls r a little tired) but nice range with mats etc. cool little counter bar with more seating inside and patio for at least 20 or more.
