For a public course, you get what you pay for. There are divots in every green and the grass is ok. It is great for starters, as it is a smaller course. There is not a ton of spots where you can lose a ball and it is manageable to walk. Overall, you are getting what you pay for. read more

Have played this course with a friend twice. I am fairly new to golf (6ish months of playing), but I find this course to be a great place to practice irons (with a few holes that are long enough to use the driver/hybrid). Greens are in great shape compared to other courses I have played. Staff is friendly, and make you feel welcome. My friend and I have played with a few randoms, and they all have been great to play with. Also, this course has a great rate of $16 - $22 depending on the time of day. read more

Played today, Sept 3rd. All I can say is HALLELUJAH!! They FINALLY fixed the sand traps!!! They have all new soft sand!! Thank you a million times over. Made my day/round so much more enjoyable....considering I landed in 5 bunkers . Because of the grade-A sand, i got out of very bunker, first try, and I even made a sand-save. Birch Hills is trying their best to fix the green problems (excessive divots) but still a major problem...you can't blame them, though as they get a ton of newbies that play here. FIX YOUR DIVOTS PEOPLE!!! IT TAKES 4 SECONDS!! Anyway, thank you Birch Hills for listening to your customers. read more

Great local course to play, and an awesome course to work on some short-game shots. I play here at least once a month and always enjoy my time. Some of the greens can get a little rough, but it's so affordable that it's very easy to get over that and have a great day. read more

What a delightful day. Fun golf with friends during perfect weather. Good pace of play. Then a yummy snack and beverage in the Treehouse afterwards. Overall, my daughter and I had a pleasant experience at Birch Hills Golf Course. Everyone is extremely friendly, from the staff in the pro shop and restaurant to the starter outside. They have marshalls on the course to help players stay on pace, and the golfers are nice and easy-going. The course itself is in good shape and for a very reasonable fee with a cart. Of course, you can walk if you so desire. As a seasoned golfer with a single digit handicap, I would strongly recommend this course to work on your short game. We plan to return soon. I love this little course. It's has a good clean look and feel. The staff has always been nice and helpful. They have great food and a nice full bar. The course is always green and in good condition. They have been doing work on this course for a bit but they are finishing it up and I like the flow. It is a very short course there are many holes 100 yard or around it. I really like playing when I only wanna golf for a few hours. I highly recommended going and try it this place out! Definitely need to make Reservations to play! read more

We live in Costa Mesa and bypass the local Executive Course here to go to Birch Hills. Great value for the green fee. Nice clean carts and great course to play. Clean facilities. All in all great place to play a round of golf. You will not be disappointed. read more

We played on the 4th of July. As we were about to complete our round approaching the 18th hole, we were told by a worker that they were closing early. Pretty upset as we were not notified of the early closing prior to playing that day. We've played at Birch many times and have been repeat customers, so experiencing this was very disappointing. One of the workers did offer to refund us for the last hole for closing early which was nice, but overall we were really disappointed as we couldn't finish our round. The condition of the course has deteriorated. Some tee boxes do not have any grass and the ground is too hard to put your tee in the ground. Just left a bad taste and will think twice when returning in the future read more

Great little par 3 course. This course is great for working your iron play. Fairways in good condition, greens are little fast and have breaks to them. Our party had a great time. Will definitely be look to play 18 here again. read more

Driving range is horrible. Over half of the balls are rotten and don't accept large basket due to lack of balls. I'm a regular and 4 out of 10 times the range is closed without a notice and never have enough balls. and people are so unfriendly. So frustrating... maintenance here is terrible. Not recommending to have a membership. read more

This is a nice course for general players or just an easy practice day if you're more advanced. The pars are 3 and 4s. I play there almost once a week. This isn't a challenging course for advanced golfers. Yes, there is sometimes a wait at each hole on busy days because there are clubs there and players who don't know golf etiquette but if you expect it then you don't get too aggravated. I hear the food is decent there (I've only had a hot dog and it was very good). They also have a "rewards" club you can join which saves you a bit on the fees, and when you get enough points you can earn a free play. They are also associated with the Brea Golf Course (only a 9-holer) so if you join the rewards club I believe you get a discount for being member there too. No complaints about Birch Hills. read more

This review is for the driving range. The range itself is decent and the prices are ok but the balls absolutely suck. They are old, wet and sometimes caked with dirt. They need to seriously throw away 3/4 of the balls in rotation. The only reason I come here is because it's the boy 5 minutes from my house. read more

This used to be my favorite course but due to different policy of the front desk, we stop playing here. We used to play at least once a week but every time we go is a risk if they will give us a cart. i feel like you need to beg for the cart that you paid for. They will have 2 players using the same cart even if you don't belong to the same household. For the price that you paid for, go somewhere else that will give you individual cart without any questions. read more

First time playing the newly arranged course. It was a bit disconcerting but not bad. People need to fix their ball marks on the greens. They are in bad shape. The golf shop & club house, resturant are beautiful. People who work there are wonderful. read more

Went ahead and emailed Nellie the general manager about our terrible experience and of course she did not respond. These people have no sort of respect or empathy. 0/10 would NOT recommend. Terrible management from Christina a "manager" there. She said many things under her breath or would completely dismiss or speak over us while talking. She sarcastically said "I love this job." Great 18 holes. They have a very unique course layout. Greens are decent. Bunkers are pretty consistent (loose / slightly firm wet sand). Many short and long Par 3's with some Par 4's scattered throughout. Perfect for anyone tired of the traditional course layouts. I will definitely be back soon! read more

Birch Hills Golf Course is a decent little executive course. I can say this, even after donating 5 balls to the massive lake on the back nine. It's good for kids, but expect to be under the watchful eye of the marshal if you do have a youngster with you. The course was not in very good shape. Divot marks were all over the place. I would have expected to find the course in better condition for how much the round cost. The cart cost was also pretty steep. I would go back to golf with relatives in OC, but I probably won't be making the 2 hour drive just to golf at Birch Hills. read more

My POV today is from the grill side of the house. I was driving by this afternoon and felt like a hot dog for lunch. Ordered a bacon wrapped dog with all the goodies. Apparently the top shelf dog consisted of a pretzel bun, salty over cooked dog, same with the bacon, packets of basic condiments and a tall Stella Artois. The highlight of my lunch was the homemade crinkle chips. All this for only $14. Come on....... I don't mind paying for good food but this was surprisingly sub -par PS....... when will you finish what I think should be a putting green???) read more

This place is awesome! From friendly and personable staff members like Christina who is every where and remembers what you like to order to the starter Don who is awesome and can remember the stories of your last round. Staff members like them make it pleasurable to play here with my family and friends. We play 1-2 times a week here and are all rewards members . I have read some reviews of long wait times on the weekends. This has not been our experience. We play every Sunday for the past Two months and Two times a month on Saturdays. Our rounds usually take 2-3 hours. The food is awesome, everything we have tried here is very tasty especially their burgers. Great place for beginners or advanced players who want to work on their irons and putting. We will continue to play here and bring our family and friends. read more

The course was nice and the staff in the clubhouse and around the course were friendly and welcoming. The TREE HOUSE BAR & GRILL was absolutely awesome. Carianne and Peggy provided excellent service, and the kitchen staff served-up DELICIOUS burgers! We had a group of us get together to celebrate a friend's retirement and birthday. Peggy was our server and was outstanding! Everyone raved about the food and I will go back soon as much for the food and beverage as for the golf! read more
