It was very unexpected of them to be so kind and concerned about the quality of the job. So I have chosen to change my rating from three stars to five. "Badger Brothers Moving of Madison Wisconsin was the company I chose to pack all my stuff from two bedroom house and then load it into a UBF trailer, and I was impressed that they were able to get it all into a 15 linear foot volume with 8 feet width and 9 feet height. There were two workers and it cost me about $2700. I would recommend writing a check because then you save several percentage points from using a credit card. I was told I would get a receipt in my email but I never did so I'm glad I wrote a check each time. The men who did the hard work were friendly and clean and personable and respectable. The only major drawback was that although they said they would be using tiedown roping and that they would have on hand ratchet straps to keep everything from shifting, they did not use either one at all anywhere and so stuff shifted and caved in transit because the trailer's bulkhead is not designed to keep things in place and I told them that. So an antique wardrobe got a hole in its crown. I think I can just patch it but still it's pretty crappy that they said that they would keep things from shifting and then they didn't even try. It could just be that they used the stretchy plastic cling film tape multiple times as a replacement, I don't really know, but I think that it's bad that they lied about it. I'm hoping that nothing else is super broken but time will tell as I unpack. I am also hoping to find the little pegs that are needed to hang shelves in bookcases because no one gave me a pack of "don't lose this it's hardware that's important" do dads. Oh, and the crinkled rice paper lampshades that go on my IKEA floor lamps got demolished because of everything shifting in the trailer. Apparently they didn't think to take them off and collapse them to put them in a box. For almost $3000 they could've done a whole lot better with just a little bit more care. For that reason, I can't totally recommend them unless you watch them like a hawk the whole time."

Having managed several successful small businesses myself, never before have I experience more…read moreunprofessionalism in my 20+ years of experience. First, their response time for getting back to you with a quote is horrible. And when I finally received a quote, it was not in writing. Second, when the day came for them to move me, they showed up late with a truck that was falling apart. Parts of it were rusting, one of the rear tires on the double axle was flat and hanging on the rim, the gas tank had a piece of plastic stuffed in it to function as a gas cap, and the truck failed to start when they tried to back it up to the storage unit. When the employees called the owner, he cussed a blue streak on the phone and hung up angrily. When he called his employees back again, his attitude was less than professional. The movers themselves were talking about how the truck was unreliable as well. They informed me that the owner would be there in 20 min and I told them to call me when he got there. The next call I received was not from the owner but from the moving crew that had been talking about how unreliable the truck was. I asked them if the owner brought another moving truck or trailer, and they informed me that they had managed to start the truck and were ready to move me. I told them I wasn't comfortable with them using that truck, to which they replied, "F^&K you then." The owner failed to call me at any time to inform me of what was going on or how he planned to complete the move. As a result of their poor customer service, I have now incurred additional storage fees. As a result, I cannot in good conscience recommend this business.

First let me say BUYER BEWARE! As I searched for movers I found the cost to be nearly $2500. Until…read moreI came across Rockford Family Movers. They were nearly half the other quotes. I asked why and Steven said that they had little overhead and were a local family company. I did some research on yelp and google and found every review at 5 STARS!! They are definitely NOT 5 STARS! We tried to support local while saving a few bucks. Don't do it. The movers showed up in a U-Haul, not professional looking at all, just 4 guys one of whom was the owner Steven Eisenach. They took a crazy amount of breaks. Every few minutes was a smoke break. I had to ask them not to smoke in the truck while loading our furniture. Plus they threw their cigarette butts all over the yards and drive ways. In all it took over 10 hours for a 3 bedroom home to go 10 minutes away. After the move we noticed many dings and gouges in the furniture and other items. During the move I noticed a gouge in our downstairs oak door and pointed it out to a mover. I got a shoulder shrug and a "wow! thats bad." After the move we had to repair and paint many scratches in the walls at the old and new home. The worst came as we unpacked. I left my garage tools to unpack last in order to get the house up and running. When I finally got a chance to unpack the garage I noticed many tools missing. I ended up losing many hand tools and some power tools. I have a 4'x8' peg board normally loaded with tools. Now it barely has anything at all. I am finding more tools missing every day. I did reach out to the movers via email and voicemail and have had no response. My wife did some more digging on the company and found a few things. She found that Steven reviewed his own company. And with as many 5 star reviews we believe that most are friends or family. She also found 1 Google review saying pretty much what we say above. They had a couple of tv's go missing. Makes for an interesting read. https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/112013538562282514718/reviews/@42.329958,-89.0485609,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m3!8m2!3m1!1e1?hl=en-US And finally, my wife found a news article on Steven Eisenach. It claims that he was arrested for stealing over $17K in jewelry while working for another moving company. She explained the process and answered all of my questions along the way. I wanted more than a refresh of closets and shelves. I wanted my whole house organized, starting in the attic and moving through the garage and the basement. I knew after the first session that I had hired the right person. Annette and her team have a really efficient system and were so supportive. They made quick work of what I found super overwhelming. In the end, my attic is EMPTY! My basement has storage space to spare and the laundry room is now a laundry room and not an overflow of random items that don't have a home. Everything I need is neatly categorized and labeled in our garage in the correct types of containers. Decorating for the holidays was easier than ever this year. Annette is a true professional.
