Since my initial review over 7 years ago I have likely visited Mast Landing OG location over 100 times. This was definitely one of the first breweries I frequented often. For a while I did not miss a single new release. While I may not come here as often I still would recommend it as a must visit brewery in Maine and one of the best in the greater Portland area. Their taproom has grown in size by a lot since my first review, as they have moved the brewing aspects elsewhere. They have also since opened two other locations, first in Freeport then in South Portland. Thankfully my favorite beer from them is still their flagship beer called Gunners Daughter. It's a low ABV (5.5%) peanut butter milk stout. Mind you despite being a peanut butter stout they do not use nuts so those who have those allergies can still have it. It's even more popular now that they have hosted special Gunners Daughter days with special variants released for years now. Including yesterday during our most recent visit here. They even released for the first time a Double Barrel Aged Version at 18% that tasted so good! They do a huge variety of style beers though with lots of IPAs available plus lagers, sours, stouts, porters, and more! Check this place out if you are a beer lover! They do also have options for those who are not beer lovers too though. Also they frequently have food trucks. Always had friendly service with a smile during every visit! read more

Tucked in behind Profenno's in Westbrook sits Mast Landing brewery. Accessible from Mechanic street or Main St. Mast Landing offers ample and well lit parking. Signage is clear, handicapped access, with an industrial decor with artwork of forest animals. Two sitting areas in this tasting room, close to the pours and in the back section which offers games such as darts and cards. Close caption TVs as well. Electric stove with charger may sitting area amidst tables and chairs. Great selection of crafted beers for all kinds of tastes. I've been a Gunners fan since their inception so I went with the flight of Gunners Daughter; Nitro, Imperial, Fudge, and Pumpkin spice. Nitro is the original and even though the imperial cost a dollar more for the pour, it's still the best. The Imperial left no impression on me at all, not worth the up charge. The Fudge did have a heavy chocolate presence as did the pumpkin spice. Husband had the Champ American Lager which was lighter. He enjoyed two mugs worth. read more

Keeping on theme for the day with my duo of reviews with breweries with "Mast" in the title. This brewery, Mast Landing provided a pretty good beer experience. I'm not always on board with fruited sours but this one wasn't too bad at all. Steve and I shared the All The Way Up: Passion fruit and Tangerine sour. It was fairly sweet involving those two fruits but it was still an enjoyable drinking experience. I do like tangerine and citrus in my beer so that was accepted with ease. Passion fruit is a little more unusual but in the end the two blended together made a pretty solid fruited sour with nice flavored layers. read more

I've been here twice in the last week as I feel really safe in their cozy igloos which you can reserve for either 1.5 or 1.75 hours at a time with up to 8 people in your party. My first visit was with 7 for a friends birthday and my 2nd visit was today with my parents (86 year old mom and 95 year old dad and 32 year old son)...we were allowed to bring our own food so we got Profennos pizza and enjoyed a couple of Mast landing IPA .I loved Canyons and Gemstones and brought home a4pack. Great service and amazing covid safety precautions. Cant wait to go back on the 28th. I've found my winter haven! read more

Large brewery with outside seating in the summer. They have a good mix of different kinds of beer. My favorite are the sours and they typically have a couple on draft. No food but they have a food truck most of the time. Great location for a big group! read more

I visited Mast Landing Brewing Company for an event. The location is clean, modern, and spacious. There is a wonderful grass area with seating for when the weather allows. The staff was professional and courteous. The various brews seems to make everyone happy. I'm really feeling the breweries outside of Portland these days, and Mast Landing deserves all the recent accolades they're getting. It's a cool spot doing cool community events. And it sounds like it's only going to get cooler as they physically expand their operations - I can't wait to see what's in store with that! Also, Wes Anderson likes it here.* The staff here rock; always so friendly and engaging and helpful. Love both the interior with its ship and sea details painted on the wall, and lower exposed ceiling strung with lights; and the exterior space of the brewery, which feels like your neighbor's patio. It's got large communal tables outside, cornhole, and there's the occasional food truck that backs into the space (check their website for details on the when and who of that). Three notes about their beer: 1. Gunner's Daughter is my favorite. It tastes like a chocolate-peanut butter whoopie pie. I will *always* get it when I come here. It's got that heavier, thicker stout feel to it so it's not an ideal summer drink, if I'm being honest, but maybe they can start serving it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? 2. Love hoppy beers? Green-To-Green. You're welcome. 3. I've been told that the strawberry shortcake session IPA (called "Paper Plates") will change my mind about IPA's as it's more "strawberry shortcake" than "IPA." I guess what I'm realizing here is that dessert + beer makes me happy. This brewery is fantastic in every way, from a plethora of draught offerings to the new location in Freeport. You can actually see their sign on the building driving North on 295.There is a large outside seating area with picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and is dog friendly. The inside is industrial but very chic and comfortable. The beers are so good. They have plenty of beers on draught (16) with rotating taps. I love IPAs and they had 7 on tap today!! The Windbreaker is a wonderful New England style hazy IPA that was very flavorful, thirst quenching and delicious. Always a raucous place to go for a fun time and amazing brews. read more

Ok so simplicity is the word here with this little brewery and I love every. single. thing about this one. I am a fan of breweries that make great beer and let the product do the talking rather than the glitz and glam of the surge of the craft brewing world. I will tell you now though that the peanut butter milk stout is one of the best beers I have ever had and I will tell you now that I have had a ton. I loved how creamy and smooth it was with the after taste of eating a peanut butter sammich. The staff was super friendly and were ready to answer any and all questions I had about the wares of their trade and we were also able to rock out some cribbage standing at the imperfect yet perfect hand made tables. The industrial/garage style feel to the place (which seemed to be surgical clean) gives it definite charm and I will be back for some more in Westbrook indeed. read more

Great beer, wonderful staff and laid back atmosphere. A neighborhood brewery that is a hidden gem in the center of Westbrook. The selection of beer is great. You can find a beer for almost any beer fan at a party. The fridge is fully stocked and next to the "bar" where you can buy a taster, swag or beer to go. I have come here to shop and I have also come to taste and hangout. They have locally made snacks to eat while you sip on a delicious beer. If you haven't tried Gunner's Daughter, I would highly recommend it if you like stout and don't have a peanut allergy. It is different, but I find it so delicious. I can only imagine how many calories are packed in this creamy delicious dessert beer. The staff is knowledgable and friendly even when the line is out the door for special releases. They are calm and cool :) In nice weather they have a neat little court yard in the back and they have big tables and benches if you stay inside. It's cozy and a cool hangout. The ONLY downside for me about this company is the parking lot. It can be difficult to find parking in the lot, but there is plenty of parking around Main Street and it is an easy walk. I highly recommend Mast Landing. I just wish they could take over the corner and expand to accommodate more people :) Cheers! read more

Met up with a friend on a Saturday at the one in Westbrook. The girls working didn't know anything about the beer, when I asked about a few IPAs. One girl it was her first day, but the girl teaching her had no idea she just said "do you want to try it." The four star is only for the beers. They need to have a food truck parked out front as well, no food is no good. I'll end up drinking all day! The space is so big! If they got live music it would probably draw more people in, especially since they don't have a great amount of outdoor seating like the breweries in Portland. read more

My crew and I decided to give this place a shot after a letdown at another brewery. Though I can't rave about the brews, they did offer some decent options. The IPAs were enjoyable, but none reached greatness. The atmosphere was low-key and surprisingly calm compared to the usual brewery buzz. Mast Landing has a few knockout beers, one of them being gunner's daughter. If I were blindfolded and you waved that beer under my nose, I would guess it's a bowl of Cocoa Puffs. Tastes like that plus peanut butter. So good! The other one that really stands out to me is paper plates, a strawberry session. Very bright flavor. What I admire about Mast Landing is their variation, and they do each style well. Nothing I had was bad, but certain beers were more memorable. The tasting room was packed but oddly quiet! So we were glad to see some outdoor seating. We got a few small pours and hung out for a while. I really enjoyed it here. We got some stuff to take home, too. read more

Through different restaurants and various grocery stores, I had been able to try Mast Landing brews without going to the actual brewery, and every beer I tasted, I really enjoyed. This left me consistently itching to get to the actual brewery to check it out. My friends and I decided to come on a Saturday evening around 7/7:30. It wasn't busy with it just being us and another couple in the facility. The minute you walk in, there is dimmed lighting and various wooden high top tables and picnic tables throughout the facility. It really felt like I was at a friends bar in their basement, which was a cool added touch. We went to the bar and the bartender was really nice and answered our questions. My husband ordered the strawberry shortcake beer called Paper Plates that had just been released that day, my other friend got the Dash, and I ordered the Perpetual Rewind. As far as the beer goes, I am a big fan of the Gunner's Daughter (a peanut butter milk stout, and I am not usually a stout fan), Dash (IPA), and the perpetual rewind, which is an IPA that is brewed with papaya and guava! Overall, this is a fantastic brewery that I will be sure to visit again sometime soon! read more

Very fun and small brewery in Westbrook. I like the simplicity of the tasting room, wooden picnic tables inside and outside. The artwork is a conversation starter and I appreciate it :) It's nice to have an outside space in the summer time as well. What I come here for is the Gunners Daughter. It is a peanut butter stout and for someone who doesn't drink beer often, I will say I go out of my way to come here and drink this beer. You can come here and drink beer by the glass or get a flight of different samplings if you so choose. My only wish is that you'd be open more days of the week and for longer hours! I've been in the Portland area a few months now and decided to branch out from Lone Pine. I just got back from Mast Landing and was very excited to crack open the Arizona Sun DIPA. The employee there said it was very similar to Lone Pine's Oh-J...OH was he wrong. I feel like the Arizona Sun is a pretty watered down comparison to the Oh-J. I wouldn't but the beer again, but the service was great! I would certainly stay around the brewery and try some of their stuff, but first impression - beer is so so. read more

Literally I think Gunner's Daughter, their famous peanut butter flavored stout is the greatest beer next to a Guinness that is. Seriously Mast Landing does a great job almost with everything they make. Their stouts, are milky and creamy perfect in all weather. I like their Seavey Island light ale for a weeknight when I don't really want that strong of a buzz. And while I'm not personally a IPA girl, this is one hundred percent the place to go for one, my friends all love the DASH and Tell Tale as their one of the constant on the menu in the tasting room here. Their limited releases sours are good starters or beginners for beer drinkers that aren't used to a sour flavor. read more

Rude customer service! Just stopped by for a quick flight of beers...in Westbrook..The bartender was ok.. No other customers in the building,I"after I purchased a flight of Stout's,I went over to look at the cooler of cans available for purchase,and as well grab a water.. A man,came from out back and immediately went over to my flight of beers,and sunglasses,and slid them to the end of the bar,saying I'm moving your flight so other customers can get to the bar.. Really?? How about next time you ask before you just move my flight of beers and sunglasses.. I find that very rude!! And totally unacceptable! Not another sole in the bar ,my flight and sunglasses was hardly an issue! You just don't reach in and touch some else's belongings.. Not to mention,none of your Stouts on tap were available to purchase... Very poor showing for Mast Landing! We won't be back! Been on my list of places to visit! So glad we were able to stop by this weekend. The COVID safety here is amazing, right down to ordering and paying remotely using your phone. The beer and snacks were excellent- loved that their draft list is synced with Untappd. Staff was great as well. One my favorite breweries in the area. Great variety of beers but they excel at IPA's but they have one of the best pastry stouts in the game in "Gunnar's Daughter" a peanut butter cup porter in liquid form. Large seating area and a sizable parking lot this is a great spot that helps amp up the talk of Westbrook being up and coming. Wish more food vendors can by the place. I have not come out for it but I hear the trivia nights are a lot of fun here too. Highly recommended place. read more

Great place to go for a beer with friends. They have a great selection of beer, something for everyone. I ended up getting a flight so that I could try 4 different types. I really enjoyed the gunners daughter. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor. Outside there is cornhole set up and inside there are games like scrabble and trouble you can play. The atmosphere inside if very modern/hip with cool murals on the wall and energetic music playing. I started dancing instinctively. We went around 7pm on a Friday and there were about 12 other people there. Service was great - friendly and quick to assist us. Pricing was reasonable. Parking was easy, they have a lot you can use. They have food trucks on some days. I would definitely recommend this brewery - especially for those who live outside the city and want to save the hassle of going into Portland for a beer. read more

When I think "brewery" I think of concrete, the smell of hops in the air, a slight darkness or dinginess, industrial equipment, and fresh, fresh beer. So you can imagine my surprise and complete getting is when I walked in to Mast Landing Brewing Company! This place is just what a brewery should be, and so much more. They have some of the best beer I've tasted in or around Portland since Allagash. With all of these trendy, hipstery, breweries opening in Portland, I've tried them all... literally... but there is something about the beer at this place that has me genuinely excited. The Gunner's Daughter milk stout, a new take on guiness, if Guinness and a Reese's peanut butter cup got together for a drunken night of debauchery and made a baby, is my favorite. They also have a excellent lineup of IPAs, including the super smooth, yet hoppy, Saccarappa. I'm addition to the beer, they have local art on the walls, tables made of refurbished pallets, an area in the back with corn hole, and very friendly service, which keeps me coming back. Loved this brewery. I don't drink but my bf loves Mast Landing beer so we stopped in after our anniversary weekend on Chebeague Island. He got a flight of beers and I got 5 ounces of Gunner's Daughter. If I have anything to drink, I love stout. This version is amazing. It's got notes of peanut butter and chocolate. A year ago I had a sample of a stout in some random bar in Boston. I'm a peanut butter fan through and through (like it right out of the jar with a spoon fan), so I figured, what the hell, I'll give this peanut butter stout a try. I've never liked stouts but it was just a sample. BOOOOOOM. My world was turned upside down. I found myself ordering a pint (who was I???) only to be told that there was no more left. Bar after bar, any venue that carried it told me they were completely out. I was heartbroken. It was like making a deep connection with a stranger on an airplane, only to realize that you'd never bothered to ask for their number. Finally. FINALLY. I was in Portland, Maine and perusing the beer selection at a 7 Eleven when I saw that they carried Mast Landing beer. Come to find out, the brewery was only a 15 minute drive from where we were staying. Yes, after an entire year we were finally reunited. It did not disappoint. Their IPAs and sour beer were all good, but let's be real, those were a sideshow compared to the Gunner's Daughter. TRY IT. Even if you're not a stout fan and ESPECIALLY if you like peanut butter. The brewery itself is a nice little low key spot and the service was fantastic. If you're a craft beer fan do yourself a favor and make it here! read more

Tried a couple tastes- nothing all that great, anyway , I decided to grab a four pack of an IPA that said it was dry hopped. 15$ and some change. This small town brewery has big city prices. Finally, a brewery in Westbrook! And an extremely cool one at that. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, and there is plenty of space. The staff seems to enjoy their job, but who wouldn't? My husband got the flight- a little expensive in comparison to other breweries in the area ($20 for 5), but they are just starting up so we were ok with the price. I'm pregnant, so I got to watch my husband drink. It was super fun I tried a sip of the peanut butter stout and he had to put it out of my reach to prevent me from downing the entire thing. They also had games and cards so kids don't go crazy and preggos don't murder their beer-guzzling husbands. We will definitely be coming back, probably later this week. read more
