Belleflower is now celebrating their 5th anniversary and I still remember being impressed during our first visit 5 years ago today. As you likely remember we were still dealing with the dreaded pandemic back then. Belleflower has preserved through that and blown every expectation out the water. You could easily make an argument Belleflower is one of the best if not the best brewery in Portland and Maine in general. They nail the IPAs and all variations of them but also can do every other style very well too! In particular for this celebration of their 5th anniversary they released a fruited sour aged in barrels for around 5 years and a double dry-hopped DIPA and both are incredible well made beers! They almost always have a food truck option nearby including a fan favorite of mine, Ironclad Eats! Today they had Smokin Dads BBQ. If you are a beer lover living in or visiting the area you must visit Belleflower! You will have friendly staff welcoming you and will taste some world-class beers! It was our first time coming to Belleflower! Friendly staff. Fun vibe. Great drinks. I absolutely loved the Witches' Chant, which is a sour. It's always a hit or miss for me when it comes to sours and this one did not disappoint! We were able to order food and have it delivered, which was a plus! I had a Spaghetti which was a large pour of lager with a shot of Aperol. Decent drink especially if you like the taste of Aperol. Personally, it's a bit too bitter for me not in spritz form. Still one of the "newer" brewers in Portland Belleflower has quickly made a name for themselves brewing multiple styles and of course soft, juicy NE IPAs. I've been drinking their beers on distro for a minute and wanted to get to the source so I stopped in on road trip. Got there around 5:30 on a Saturday and caught the tail end of what appeared to be a very busy afternoon. There was zero room inside the smaller tap room at first but some space opened up after around 1/2 an hour. There was plenty of parking and it was free; a big plus in Portland. There is also a large amount of outdoor seating for the nicer weather. The servers were all knowledgeable and friendly. The beers were all good throughout the different styles. Nothing was truly outstanding but nothing was off putting either. A solid all around brewery. Overall, it's definitely a place I would revisit on my next trip to Portland. read more

We went to 5 different breweries while visiting Portland and this was our hands down favorite. I was suprised to love a dark beer so much, but the chocolatey stout stole my heart. While I am a big fan of flights -- which they don't do -- we made up for it with the half pours of beers they offer. Peefect for tasting and exploring! Like most craft breweries in the Portland area, the offerings are heavy on the IPAs, which sadly I'm not a fan of, but they had several other creative options including a couple of lagers, a couple of stouts and a porter, a couple of sours, and a vanilla chai blonde ale. There are also several guest beverages for those who aren't a fan of beer (?!) - vodka drinks from Mast Landing, hard ciders and red and white wine. In other words there is something for everyone. Love the plentiful parking, the variety of seating options (though I wish there were more cushy options), the pleasant service, and the chill music. Wow, what a place. Only reason for four stars instead of five is that they don't have a regular food program. But man, are their beers fantastic. The space is very relaxed, the staff is just as fantastic (Katie was great), they have half pours for easy tasting, they have easy parking, and they have nice outdoor seating too. But the beer. Superb. The Star: very bright and citrusy, very drinkable. The Sun: similarly citrusy but creamier. The Moon: slightly less citrusy, creamy, malty, balanced. Among the best I've had. We could hear the music as we parked. A local band was playing cover songs (think Tom Petty) in the parking lot. Everyone was just taking it easy. Good vibe here but it's a little pretentious and hipstery (if that's your vibe.) We felt a little out of place so it was a one beer and done kinda place for us. But hey, has parking, clean, designed like a bakery inside. Has a chocolate store two storefronts over- we hit that up for sure! (People do tell us this is the best beer around... My first trip to Belleflower was back in 2021 during my first proper trip to Portland, but for one reason or another I didn't get to writing a review for it. That's about to change though, as my brothers and I visited Belleflower again during our most recent trip - I feel my experience this time was built on my first visit, so here we go. Belleflower is located in the Eastern part of the city, in an area that contains several other breweries and wholesale operations of businesses that have their main brick-and-mortars in other parts of the city. The setup of Belleflower was similar to other breweries I've been to - large and open with several tables inside as well as an outdoor area. with more seating. The decor is sparse, but that comes with being a brewery. I did, however, notice a small selection of merch/souvenirs which was a pleasant surprise. I'm not a big beer drinker, so I went with a cider which was quite good. I think it had notes of a fruit in it which spoke to me. Service was super friendly, and overall I had a good experience at Belleflower. If you're doing a brewery crawl (as there are several in the area), this one is worth a stop in. read more

They have food trucks so you can also get a bite to eat. As we aren't familiar with the local beers the service was great in angering questions on what is popular. This was one of my top 3 breweries while visiting Maine. If you are a fan of IPAs, they have a really great selection and some phenomenal DIPAs. I also tried 2 of their stouts, which were really good, but beware, they are strong! I do wish they served flights, but you can opt for a half pour. We ended up visiting twice to try more of their selections and to take some cans to go. They have an outdoor seating area and plenty of room inside. The beer: tried 4 NE IPAs/double IPAs. All of them were pretty intense but I loved that they were nuanced enough that they had discrete flavors. On first sip, they feel a little assertive but with subsequent sips they mellow out and you can catch more subtle notes. My favorites were 'Into the Kaleidescope' and 'Wild Winds'. A group of us did a brewery crawl in the area around Fox St.. Based on discussions, Belleflower was the most anticipated brewery of those considered, and in my opinion, rightly so. The entire time we were there, which was more than an hour, the line for drinks was always - ALWAYS - out the door, even though it was a fast moving line. There's reasons for this, namely, the beer is that good. But there's also a fun atmosphere both inside and outside, not to mention the food trucks. Their beers have great names too. Their Secret Clubhouse, a chocolate, marshmallow, peanut-butter (see, it already has all my buzzwords) was my favorite beer of the day among all the breweries I visited and one I'm willing to go out of my way to find. This is a great little place for some really good beer and a cool vibe. If I am not mistaken, there are some ties to treehouse brewing in MA and they are spectacular when it comes to tasty IPAs. New additions to Portland's already robust craft brewery scene are always exciting. When I found out about Belleflower Brewing, I had a good feeling it would become one of my favorite spots in town. Now, months after their opening and a couple of visits later, I can say that -- indeed -- this is my type of place. The vibe at Belleflower Brewing is similar to the one at the nearby breweries around this area, and I mean that in the most positive way. They offer indoor seating and outdoor seating, food trucks are often around, and their beers are crafted with thoughtful ingredients. The result is a phenomenal experience, both in terms of their ambiance and the beers they produce. As a huge fan of IPAs, theirs are some of my favorite ones. My friends have also raved about the stouts. The beers to me just have so much soul. You can tell that those behind Belleflower's liquid creations truly put their heart into the brewing process. The staff and service here is also top-notch. They are knowledgeable about each beer, its notes and ingredients, and therefore they give damn good recommendations to those of us that are amateur drinkers. It's hard to explain exactly what's different, but the flavors! Wow...the descriptions are 100% accurate. Our favorites buys from their list of offerings in November were: Hexology - "The first sip brings bright hop notes, flavors of grape and pineapple candy, rounded out with lychee and papaya, and some lingering hop bite" - YES IT DOES!!! Faerie - "Pouring cranberry pink and moderately hazy, the aroma consists of cranberry-orange relish, pink lemonade, and light pomegranate followed by flavors of fresh-squeezed orange juice and assorted Starbursts with bright lemon acidity." - IT ABSOLUTELY DID!!! YUM!! Finch and thistle - "pouring pale golden hazy with aromas of big papaya, kiwi, pineapple, and stone fruit that will make you long for summer." YES INDEED, we bought enough to carry us through the holiday as we look forward to Summer and drinking on the Belleflower Patio. We cannot wait to go back. Belleflower Brewing is one of the newer breweries that have popped up in the last few years in Portland. They have a nice spot with easy parking. Love the outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas and what not for warmer weather seating and also some nice beautiful indoor seating with live edge slabs style tables and chairs. Staff was friendly. Lots of options to choose from. Had the "Finch and Thistle" NE IPA and "Devils Chair" DIPA. Each were hazy and a fruity, but the Thistle was my favorite. I like that you can get a nice smaller beer glass that is full but only a "half pour" for half the price- that way It encourages me to try two beers and get more than just a little sample size! LOVE Belleflower Brewing! You will also love it if you appreciate good craft beer, specifically NEIPAs. Belleflower is producing some of the haziest, juiciest IPAs in Maine. As a new business with so few reviews I feel compelled to comment on the one star review because "there isn't a waitlist system to contact you when your table is ready." The vast majority of breweries in Portland do not have this. So yeah, great review. I visited Belleflower on opening weekend and was very impressed. First, the pedigree is incredible. The owners are from Lonepine and Trillium. It's the perfect marriage. And they have a system I wish all breweries would adopt...you scan a QR code from your table and can order and pay on your phone. Someone will bring your beers out. As I stood in a 20 minute line to order at Definitive Brewing today, I really appreciated this system. The IPA was fantastic. It's the only beer I had, but it did stand out from the dozens of local IPAs. This is a new brewery with big potential. I'm excited to go back! read more
