Let's start from the beginning, we had a broken washing machine. Turns out a sock was stuck in the drain. He cleared it and said he needed to get a spring to fix the machine. Came back the next day with the spring. There was some other issue with the motor (couldn't have done a full diagnosis day 1?). Didn't get the job done the second appointment. 3 days to fix a washing machine? I mean c'mon. I don't have the time to sit around all week for 3 appointments. So here's what drives me nuts. This guy spoke to my wife like she was a child and criticized how we took care of our dog. Call me crazy, but I'm leaving my pit bull in her crate when a random person I don't know comes into my apartment. Telling us we shouldn't have spayed her, too (literally the first thing this idiot says to my wife when he walks in the door). This guy even said, "Wanna come home with me puppy?" It's a good thing my wife wasn't here when he said that, she hated this guy more than i did. So unprofessional and just rude. Advice: Only hire this guy if you have A LOT of time and patience. read more

Absolute scam artist! This guy defines the term shady. DO NOT USE HIM! I can't stress this enough! He came to repair a commercial dishwasher, and first thing he did was turn it on, despite the fact we informed him it was leaking. Needless to say, water everywhere, and he spent the next 45 minutes mopping. He charged us $175 service charge, downpayment, whatever, and never returned. We've given him a dozen opportunities to refund our money for the job that never got started, letalone completed. Every time I speak to him, he pretends to not know who I am. I've let him know that this review will be going up, and talking to a lawyer for that refund is my next step. read more

He also gave us suggestions to prevent future issues with the refrigerator and ways to deal with it if there are any other problems. I called this company since it has good reviews in Yelp. However, I had a completely different experience and received a terrible service. My washing machine stopped working in the middle of a wash and the remaining water won't drain. Jerrry (from this company) came and asked me questions about the machine and after pushing some buttons couple of times, told me that the pump should be replaced. He charged me $154 (includes $25 for parking!) and said that the pump replacement will be additional $400. I called another company (A Appliance Source Inc.) the next day and they fixed the machine for $120. The pump was perfectly fine. read more

Jerry was supposed to fix my refrigerator. He was prepaid for a service call and the cost of the "a heater" for my fridge totaling $89, not including labor. When he arrived I asked him a question, "why do I need an external heater?" I was on the phone with him when I asked the question. He says," wait, I am walking back to my car." Did not come up to do the job because he was pissed I asked a question. I am customer and if i wanted to ask him 20 questions, that is my right. He then blocked me from calling and when I had to call him from different numbers, he said "someone from my office sent you a check." Four months later and still NO REFUND. Had to replace the dishwasher and washer/dryer, and the oven still isn't working properly. He called yesterday to see how everything is working. He said he could replace the boot of the washer (bc of mildew smell) but I don't know why he didn't do that the first time he was out here. When I first called him, I told him what the problem was and sent him a photo of the serial and model #. He told me that he would go pick up the boot at a store and replace it. But when he showed he didn't have the rubber and told me how to clean it out. Well, cleaning it with bleach still didn't remove the moldy/mildew smell. I don't want to mess with it anymore so I just got a new one. The dishwasher had wheel not aligned. He is the one who pulled it off the body and rigged it back together. I didn't know that it was him who pulled it out bc he blamed my husband. In the end I spent $145 for nothing! I feel like I got scammed. Do not use this guy! read more

Called for repair to Sub Zero wine fridge, came on wrong day, but luckily was home. Cleaned out hair/dust from behind grill, and proceeded to do the same with the adjacent main fridge, seemed like a good idea. Said many service people scam by just cleaning and charging for parts. I had to leave for work and he left soon after having promised the wife he would return the next day to recharge the coolant/gas - and charging $200 FOR TWO HOURS OF CLEANING/FIDGETING. Last we heard from him. I don't know if its an outright scam - he had very few tools - but $200 for nothing is a scam. read more

The guy seems very knowledgeable on the phone. He said he was on his way at 3:00am so I waited and waited and waited. I was so tired, but I stayed up to wait for him. They were easy to get a hold of and come to our place, but that is where any positive ends. He charged us $114 for pressing a button. It's $89 just for him to take a look (which is crazy expensive), then he pressed a button and charged an additional $25 for his ten second fix (no parts were even included in this). I had an appt for jerry to come look at my fridge and when he showed up I was uneasy because of how aggravated he was in general. I was so uncomfortable in my own house. STAY AWAY! My tenant needed their refrigerator fixed. I called a number of companies and this was the only one available at the time we needed. He stated he needed my tenants to pay the bill and I could reimburse him and I told him no, that I would pay the bill once the work was completed and my tenant confirmed the refrigerator was working. Jerry stated prior to fixing the refrigerator he would call me to make sure I wanted whatever was wrong with it fixed. He called me and his phone died - went ahead and fix the refrigerator without my consent or me knowing how much it was going to cost me. Upon completion of the work I asked Jerry to send me an invoice and he stated he would send me a picture in 10 minutes. Fast forward a few days, Jerry calls me demanding a credit card number OVER THE PHONE and I stated I still haven't received the invoice. Jerry then stated if I didn't give them a credit card number he would go to the property and take the parts. Please do not waste your time with this company, they are inconsistent and charge prices that are different as stated on the website. Oh and I'm STILL waiting for the invoice. read more

Made an appointment to install a dryer. He was able to fit me in that afternoon, which I thought was great timing. The 2-hour appointment window was nearly up when he called me to let me know he wasn't going to make it. I get it, things come up. We rescheduled for the next evening. I took off work early so I could make it home in time, as he couldn't move the appointment back half an hour. That was fine, could have planned better on my part. But then he never showed for another 2-hour appointment window. He did eventually call (half an hour after he was already a no-show), but he already showed that he wasn't interested in my business, so I'm going to find someone else. I know it was just a dryer and pretty small potatoes, but I was still had an appointment and was going to pay for his time until he completely disregarded mine. read more

Had an issue at a rental property that the stove worked but the oven was not. Was referred to BIRD Appliance from a co-worker, so glad Bernie told me to call Jerry. I called and spoke to Jerry, he explained the service call charge and what it included, he also explained to me that if I needed any repairs a portion of the service call charge would go towards the repair. Asked Jerry if I could call him right back as I needed to confirm a time and date with my tenant, called up my tenant and asked her what would work for her....called Jerry back and confirmed the next morning between 8:00am-9:00am. He was there at exactly 8:00am came in diagnosed a part in the oven that needed replacing, he went got the part and was complete and the oven was up and running by 10:00am the same day. I am definitely using BIRD Appliance again!! I even recommend him to my mom who was having an issue with her oven as well, and once again he was to the rescue for my mom as well!! Their customer service is terrible!!!! I was told they guaranteed their work. I have a bill for a still leaking dishwasher. I called to state my dishwasher was still leaking and he offered to order a few parts. I had to call back 8 days later since I have no call back about the parts status. He stated hed call back later....no call. I called two days later and spoke with him, he said my number was in the truck and would look in to the parts again and would call me back promplty in 15 minutes. no call. i called again two days later and got an answering machine and no call back. terrible terrible follow up. i would not ever refer to them or use them again. i own a building and could have given them much future service. he also made inappropriate comments about women and payments when i said i would pay vs my husband. read more

We have used Bird to fix several appliances in our home (refrigerator, dryer, and washer). Jerry has always gotten back to us quickly and been upfront when he needs to trouble shoot to figure out the issue (which he needed to do with our dryer and took several visits and ordering an expensive part, which he told us about). My washer stopped completely draining and then stopped draining at all. I was sure it was the pump, a fairly expensive part considering the age of the washer. I decided to have it fixed and called Bird Appliance, explaining the problem and giving my unqualified diagnosis. Bird Appliance said they were on a call in my neighborhood but would not be done there till around 7 PM, they could come after that call or the next morning. I chose the next morning and he was right on time, calling,as I requested, rather than ringing the bell . He looked at the washer, determined what the problem was, and fixed it, all for less than the wholesale price of a new pump which I didn't need. He could have easily agreed with me and put in a new pump and some extra cash in his pocket. He is honest! As he repaired the washer he gave me a ton of pointers on keeping all our other appliances working properly. The best part? I have dogs in my house and worry about service men coming in, even though I remove the dogs from the area. He LOVES animals, all types! Will use him for all my appliance repair needs in the future. read more
