Went on Mother's Day a little after 1:00 pm and I did not expect it to be as busy as it was. Located in Bressi Ranch by Sprouts and other small businesses, parking wasn't difficult. Walking up there was a bit of a line but it was moving at a fair pace. It gave us the opportunity to really read the menu above the register well. There's both outdoor and indoor seating. And both areas were pretty full with a bustling vibe. There were specialty drinks so I wanted to try the Pistachio latte but they were out so we ended up trying the Left Coast latte, Vanilla Bean latte, a plain bagel and Lil Dippers. The lattes were wonderful. Smooth and tasty. The Lil Dippers (mini burritos) were pretty substantial and the plain bagel surprisingly was the best we've ever had at any coffee place. SO good! Great taste and perfect texture. It was unfortunate though that the cream cheese cup that comes with it didn't suffice. It wasn't at all enough for a good ratio. And to think that at one point my bagel was forgotten by the employees. I would've missed out! Overall, we're so glad we went, it was worth it! read more

This location feels cozy from the moment you walk in. Friendly service and excellent coffee & matcha. My one hold-up from 5 stars was the difficulty in finding the shop. I didn't notice it driving around the parking lot. I had to call only to leave a voice message asking where is Bird Rock. I walked around for about 10 minutes until I finally found it. They should have outdoor signs to make it easier to spot while driving. read more

Worse iced matcha latte I've ever had! Coloring is all wrong, sage instead of green!!! looks nothing like a match should look like. They really need to teach the baristas how to make a decent matcha especially when I just wasted $7.75 for colored water. Even Starbucks makes a better iced matcha & that's not saying much. A fun and convenient location of Bird Rock in Bressi Ranch. Really easy to find parking in their large plaza lot and their service is quite fast so lines go by quickly. Plenty of tables to find seating at whether inside or outside. After ordering our drinks, I think we received our lattes literally within 3 minutes. They are always on it! I ordered their pumpkin spice latte and my husband had a regular latte. I didn't think their pumpkin spice latte tasted like pumpkin spice whatsoever but it was still okay. Honestly it was hard to tell the difference between my latte and my husband's regular latte. For us the espresso was quite bitter and acidic but again was still good. I'm testing a new theory...and it's that anyone who is willing to invest in a Slayer espresso machine, they care a lot about their beans. So stop six on my Slayer-theory tour is Bird Rock Coffee roasters. And so far, my theory is testing true. Had it not been for Reddit, I wouldn't have given Bird Rock a glance. This location at the time of writing only has a 3.7 on Yelp. 3.7 is a sign that the wheels are coming off...but in my experience, Bird Rock checks all the boxes. They have a ton of in-house roasts, they care about their product, their customer service was good... I dunno- I see that some people complain about the food but I'm here for what the name on the building says they do, COFFEE. And the Monkey Bite house espresso is delicious. It's some of the best I've tried in North County. I also picked up a bag of their El Eden Peruvian single-origin bean to try at home so that's on me to see if I can get it dialed in. I say, this is worth your time. There are a lot of great coffee shops in North County, and now I can add Bird Rock to that list now too. read more

I ws so happy with what I ordered this time at Bird Rock. I have been multiple times in the past and have been pleased but this time I was very happy. Other than the cashier/server who messed up 2 of my items - the final products were great. I would have given 5 stars but the cashier was really not listening and both my coffee and one of my breakfasts had to be remade because she got the order confused. We ended up waiting way longer than we would have if she had captured the order correctly the first time. Their coffee is REALLY tasted. It's not bitter and it has a great deep coffee flavor. I had decaf and it was delicious, my friend had the regular and loved it. We ordered one Boss Breakfast burrito and one Boss Breakfast Bowl. They gave us two bowls and had to remake one into a burrito. Because they had to hurry to fix the burrito one, the potatoes were a little harder than one would have wanted but other than that the Boss Breakfast was really delicious and really big. Both of us (and we are big eaters) had to take half of our food home because it was to big and hearty. I added soyrizo to the bowl and it was super tasty. I decided to go in & try some of their lattes (The Sandpiper & Honey B Latte) & they were pretty good, creamy lattes. I'd definitely come back and try some other lattes or even their on tap cold brews. Service: 9/10 *I went in around lunch time and they were pretty busy. The staff were kind and helpful onto which lattes to choose from/would fit my preferences. Coffee Shop Vibe: 5/10 *The shop is pretty small & VERY crowded as you walk in. It is fairly loud so it's definitely not a place to have a cup of coffee with a partner or friend - or to even study (as everything is loud). Very busy foot traffic & wouldn't want to dine in. Their baked items are ok, but you really gotta try their burritos are darn good too if you need a light meal. I give BR props for their customer service as their baristas are always on top of it. Love the Bird Rocks in Little Italy and Torrey Pines, and this location is also great. Very roomy and lots of tables inside if you need to sit down and knock out some emails. The pour overs are the best, but on this hot day.. the Nitro Cold Crew was the way to go. Smooth and refreshing. Cooled me down and gave me a caffeine boost simultaneously. To her defense she appeared to be new. She seemed overwhelmed and a bit confused. People were leaving the line and the store. Lost business! There seemed to be adequate personnel that could have assisted. My food was ready and I wasn't call until I glanced up and saw it sitting on the opening from the kitchen. I am dedicated to being loyal to local businesses. I'm retired so waiting a bit is perfectly okay. But many who patronize this location have limited time to order and enjoy their coffee. My friends raved about this place for the quality of the beans so I thought to give it a try while in town. I ordered the white chocolate truffle latte and I would say it was good but not great. The flavor of the white chocolate truffle wasn't particularly prominent to me. While the drink had a bit of sweetness, I really couldn't taste the syrup much. The drink also wasn't very creamy and felt slightly watery. I really love creamy espresso based drinks but this place is much simpler. The staff was very friendly and helpful as always they r renovating the menu they have so there currently is no menu. They have all the classic flavorings like vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, they also have macadamia nut flavoring which is more unique and i've only seen in hawaii. They can also make matcha lattes and chai lattes. They have an assortment of baked goods, happy they had a gluten free option today.
