The donuts are still beautiful and food good but their service has really gone downhill. Two girls at the counter chatting when I walked in. It took a moment to get their attention. I smiled and commented on the donuts and that broke their gossipy reverie. One immediately walked away like she couldn't be bothered to work, only a paid gossiper. There was no one in the store other than me. She rung me up with a flat attitude like she just got out of jail and was miserable. Her name is Bre. I ordered a dirty chai. With two other items. She wouldn't give a to go box like they usually do. It came off super cheap. She told me to just cover it with a lid even tho I told her I had a dog in the car that would eat it and it was chocolate sprinkle. Traditionally they stop and make the coffee and then move on to the next guest. She was in a really bad mood so she kept taking donut orders until about 5 guests deep. Then she got 2 other coffee orders so she stopped to make coffee. About 10 to 15 minutes after I paid for my other order she makes my dirty chai. A kid and a mom are right by the counter. The kid grabs my drink and spills it on the counter and on the floor. She sees this. It's right in front of her. She says oh no that's not yours. Then she wipes it off and tries to pass it off to me like I didn't see. I said no, you're not going to re make it? She goes no, it's not my fault he spilled it. I was like I want a refund. She goes why. I'm like the drink spilled and you didn't even offer or try to remake it. This place had really gone downhill. Service is awful. The donuts look nice but they've been sitting out and are stale. The same with crossaint I had. I would not go back here anymore. Awful experience. Drove out of my way to come here today. Visit 5/12 around 12:30-ish I typically go to small mom/pop shops, like SK Donuts in O'side, but because my high school junior is doing an IT school required internship, down on state, I figured we stop here to maybe treat him to after he had lunch. Entering: Never greeted let alone not acknowledged until it became barely. As someone who has worked all types of jobs, going as far back as when I was a teen myself - this is important. The two youngest ladies, at the register, were deep in their gossip that I doubt they noticed we walked in; only customers. I tried to get their attention but to no avail until I walked over and stood in front on them where their conversation had to be cut short. One of the young girls look a smidgen annoyed while the other was trying to rush to get my order. Quality of goods: I ordered a chocolate chip cookie, to share later with my girls and orders sometime raspberry for my teen son that he could enjoy later on break. The cookie was huge, yes, but nothing that beats the moist and chewy cookies I make myself at home, which I can't currently do since my kitchen is beinf remodeled. Hadn't been here for a while, so we wanted to try it again. Ordered the jalapeño, ham and cheese croissant and it was the bomb! Flaky layers with plenty of kick! It was suggested we try the brown butter doughnut so we did. My wife and I had mixed reviews. We'll have to go back and try it again. Whenever we travel to Carlsbad, we spend Wednesday afternoon at the Farmers' Market in Carlsbad Village. On our second lap of the booths, we visit The Goods for coffee and a doughnut and a short rest at one of their tables. The waitstaff is helpful, pleasant, and attentive even though they are very busy with customers and restocking doughnuts. One goes to the counter for order, payment, and pickup as in many coffee shops. It just feels local and we enjoyed the nostalgia and the respite. It is easy to find but on Wednesdays you will likely have to park two blocks away. read more

Definitely deserving of the name! This place has The Goods!!! The donuts were delicious and still warm. Tried the seasonal lemon berry. The inside lemon filling was tart and sweet. And the berry topping was divine! The apple fritter was perfectly cooked with sweet chunky apple filling. Only warning is it's very sweet - as a donut should be. Almost ordered another but glad we didn't as 1.5 sweet treats was perfect - filling and sugary. The staff was friendly and helpful. Was pleasant to sit inside and enjoy the sweet treats. But I've had my eye on some donut shops up there for a while so decided "will travel for donuts," and visited the farthest one away first. The Goods has a unique selection of flavors and many overall options. The key lime pie filled donut caught my eye since I rarely see this flavor, and am a sucker for a meringue topping. Got the passionfruit guava per employee recommendation and the brown butter sea salt. The toasted meringue on the key lime pie donut was scrumptious and I enjoyed the tartness of the curd filling. However it definitely tasted like quality lemon curd, not key lime. The guava passionfruit was a miss because there was so little filling and I didn't taste any assertive passionfruit note. I did like the cream cheese fruity frosting on top but there was just too much plain doughnut left over so this one didn't deliver for me. But the overall winner was definitely the much humbler looking brown butter sea salt. The crumb was extra moist, and the flavor notes were harmonious. read more

I am a die hard SideCar fan, so I had high expectations coming in...especially with the reviews. The Goods is waking distance from the massage spa we come down to Carlsbad for. I dropped my wife off and decided to take a quick 5 minute stroll with my toddler to donut shop. I was impressed with the variety of donuts and type of donuts they offered. We decided to go with what seemed to be their largest donut (at least from my POV), a good ol Apple Fritter ($6). It was nice and warm when they handed us the fritter. I was again impressed by the size of it. It was well worth the price. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. I kept seeing people constantly coming in and out, and not only for their donuts but for some coffee as well. Went in for the avocado toast, left with a box full of donuts Walking the streets of Carlsbad, I noticed this little spot and took a mental note to return in the morning. I thought it was more of a breakfast place, but to my pleasant surprise it's a delicious donut spot! They make fresh donuts right in front of you with gluten free options as well. Don't sleep on the massive cinnamon rolls either, my kids loved it! There was a bit of a line when I went in, but it moved fast and they weren't running out of donuts. There was enough for everyone. I still ordered the avocado toast and was really happy with it. Fresh sourdough bread and great flavor with the avocado and a savory oil drizzle. I read about The Goods from another Yelpie's great review. While my eldest daughter and I were staying in Carlsbad, we had to come here and check out The Goods goods. We arrived about 30 mins before closing time. Yes, they close early like around 4:00 PM or until all goods are gone. It's a quaint donut and baked goods shop with great decor and good inside bench seating. There are outside seating as well. They have a variety of classic and unique donut flavors. By the time we got here, there were limited donuts and other baked goods left. The lady who helped us was very nice and friendly. I asked her for any best sellers. Glazed round was one of them. Seasonal Berry was another favorite. I was debating between the Glazed and Seasonal Berry. I went with the Glazed. I have been wanting to find a Boston Cream Pie. Well, I found a Boston Cream donut so I had to get it LOL. The lady was kind to throw in the Seasonal Berry on the house just so I can try it. Thank you so much miss! I appreciate the sweet gift. Wow, all 3 donuts were amazing! None of them were overly sweet... just perfect! Glazed donut was soft. Berry filling was abundant. Cream filling was quite tasty. We both enjoyed all of them very much. Pricing was about $4 - $5 per donut. Yeah, they are premium donuts at premium prices and that's okay. Since it was a Saturday afternoon, there wasn't as much variety of donuts so we decided to pick a couple classic flavors to try. I went for their vanilla bean and my boyfriend chose the chocolate, and also got a chocolate croissant for breakfast the next morning. I loved how their glaze has specks of actual vanilla bean and their donuts were not too sweet! I was a bit worried about the level of sweetness, but it wasn't super overpowering. I found The Goods through Yelp and knew it was going to be amazing based off the amount of r5 star reviews. The Goods did not disappoint! We went around 10am on a Saturday morning. It was busy, but the line moved quickly. The interior of the donut shop is modern and inviting. It's much "fancier" than most donut shops. There were some inconsistencies between their website menu, instagram menu, and what they actually had in store. They had a variety of donuts and pastries to choose from. Some flavors were sold out and unavailable to get. Some flavors that were sold out came out while we were there. They also have a handful of gluten free donut options. There is also a drink menu with coffee drinks. We decided to try the Samoa, brown butter, seasonal berry, apple fritter, chocolate ganache, and the cinnamon roll. The Samoa and brown butter were good, but not our favorites and would probably not get these next time. They were both cake donuts and a little dry. We would definitely get the cinnamon roll, apple fritter, seasonal berry, and chocolate ganache again. The yeast donuts were fresh, soft, and fluffy. The cinnamon roll had a lot of cream cheese frosting and was the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen. It is great for sharing. I bookmarked this place for a while and finally was around that area to drop by to try it out. Located in a beautiful walkable neighborhood with lots of other shops. Street parking only. Inside was beautiful and spacious. All the donuts were beautiful and huge. Gluten free ones are the smaller ones. I got the brown butter since the worker recommended it's their best seller and I also got the Nutella buttercream cruffin. I also order a latte and vanilla latter with oat milk. Total came out to be about $23 I decided to eat there and when I took the first bite of the brown butter donut it threw me off because it did not taste like brown butter. I kept taking bites to see if maybe I can get use to the taste but I just didn't enjoy it. It started tasting more like almond flavor. I also did not enjoy the Nutella buttercream cruffin. The Nutella buttercream tasted to oily/buttery/fatty to me instead of a Nutella chocolate taste. But those two donuts that I got I did enjoy the actual texture of the dough they are both thick and hefty. Because I didn't really enjoyed those two that I picked out I went to get another donut and I chose the chocolate ganache donut. This was so much better! The chocolate is dark and rich. It is not too sweet and it's not glazed which I like and the dough is more on the airy side, very fluffy. Overall their donuts are alright. They are "fancier" so it's a bit more pricey.
