Vinaka cafe is a local coffee shop located on the second floor at Carlsbad Village Faire. I love The decor is very artistic which gives the shop a very pleasant and cozy vibes. I like the oversized world map that decorates one of the wall. They have a nice kids corner. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have sandwiches, salads, bagels, croissants, burgers, ice cream, sundae, coffee and espresso drinks The staff were attentive. I got the ice oatmilk latte and it was REALLY GOOD! I highly recommend their coffee. The location is a bit hard to find. They are located on the second floor of this shopping area in the Carlsbad Village. The inside has an indie vibe, a bit dark for me. The tables outside were nice but a bit dirty. I got a bacon, egg and avocado sandwich. It wasn't overpriced and was quite delicious. I opted for no cheese but it would have been nice if it came with some kind of sandwich spread. Without the spread, the sandwich tasted a bit dry. Service was good. There is free parking at the plaza. read more

I wanted this place to be my go-to spot since I'm nearby. But, my postive experiences have been up-n-down. It's very chill and cozy when you have somewhere to sit. On the several occasions I've been there, I can tell it's now very popular...especially to those working remotely. My husband and I stopped by this café over Labor Day weekend. It was fairly busy, but the service was still prompt, which I appreciated. I ordered a matcha latte and he had a mocha frappuccino. Unfortunately, my matcha was clumpy and not fully dissolved in the milk, and my husband didn't enjoy his mocha either. We also noticed that many of the younger staff members were behind the counter preparing drinks and food, which is fine, but a few of them had their hair half up/half down. This raised some concerns for us about cleanliness and hygiene. Overall, while the café is conveniently located and fine for a quick stop, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Honestly just one of the few cafes that can do that balance/blend well. Really great vibes inside the cafe as well! All baristas are welcoming and kind. Your typical, artsy and cute coffee shop located upstairs in the village faire, a hot chocolate with whipped cream ran me about $4.50. After I ordered I saw a list of delicious seasonal drinks as well that I would've possibly opted in for one of those but settled for my hot chocolate. A chill coffee shop in Downtown Carlsbad by the beach! I did not get any pastries or food, but the enjoyed the drinks! They had a seasonal menu right by the cashier which I almost missed, but saw it while ordering and got a drink from the seasonal menu too! I ordered the Spring Cleaning from the seasonal menu which was a macadamia nut blended mocha. It's a powder with limited caffeine, so I added an espresso shot to my drink and got it iced/blended. They got my order wrong, but after bringing the drink back they were able to make me a new order which was correct. The taste of macadamia nut were very light and I was expecting a stronger nutty taste. This could possibly be because I added espresso to my drink. The matcha green tea and the chai tea latte (substituted whole milk for oat milk) were both delicious as well. Make it a point to come here everytime I visit my friends in Carlsbad because their blended dirty chai is one of the best I've ever had. I love chais that are creamy and sweet rather than spiced and watery, and they hit the mark here, at least for the blended one. This time my boyfriend tried just the blended chai and I got our usual blended dirty chai and I like it with the shot of espresso to cut the sweetness a little. It's a really sweet and creamy drink. Honestly more of a dessert than anything. The prices are also pretty high but it's quality and the cafe is adorable. The workers have always been so kind and efficient. I come here sometimes for the coffee which is usually enjoyable. Today 10/24 @6pm I visited to study and sip a warm drink. Unfortunately.... Two workers were talking and ended up talking out loud about virginity? Honestly... what the heck. This young girl and guy who both work together were talking openly about this. As a customer, it was very uncomfortable. Clearly, not a family friendly establishment. It was the first and last time I'll go there to study. I am surprised I don't have a review for this place already. I went on one of the first dates with my now wife there and have been going to vinaka since I was a kid. I moved away from Carlsbad 5 years ago and recently was back and had to stop into my favorite coffee spot for a white out. Me and a friend stood at the counter with nobody in line or around for 3 solid minutes while one employee was making a sandwich and another was walking to him leaning against the counter. They both made eye contact with us my friend said hello to which we got no reply. My favorite local Carlsbad cafe! Since high school. Great coffee and tea drinks. The ambiance inside is always cute and surf vibes / boho and i lovee all the plants. They still sell icecream and have great sandwiches. The service is also great, with a smile and patience for everyone asking for the bathroom code (which is a shared bathroom [separate mens and women's] between multiple businesses). Waited 15 minutes here for a watered down mediocre chai tea latte. Absolutely not worth the $8 I spent on the small 12oz watery chai. There were 4 people behind the counter working, and only 1 person was making drinks. The others were standing around on their phone like they had nothing to do while there were at least 5 customers waiting for drinks. The pace of the guy making the coffees was ridiculously slow, and he only made one drink at a time, making it go even slower.
