Our go to coffee place. Always tons of regulars here. They offer a wide variety of teas (energize and immunity ones are spectacular) for me and my wife really loves their blended vanilla drink. The fruit smoothies aren't my fav, but their chai is phenomenal. Pastries are also really good. Ample outdoor seating with occasional singers outside playing guitar. So glad I stopped by this coffee shop! I always appreciate one that roasts their own coffee beans. I think it makes them stand out and much more unique than the others. I tried one of their summer specials, an Iced Banana Maple Latte with soy milk. I loved how bold and intense the flavor of the coffee was without it being overwhelming; however, I did not taste the banana or maple flavors at all. It just tasted like a straight up sweetened iced latte. Don't get me wrong, it's a great latte. But I guess I was just expecting to get more of the banana and maple flavors, especially since I was pretty excited about that flavor combination. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance was great. I love that they have their roasting machine right where people can observe and watch the process if they wanted to. They have ample tables and chairs indoor, and a few outdoor as well. I'm pretty sure I'll be coming back here. I'll probably try the Caramel Cream Latte next time. read more

Hot cc chocolate is amazing.. it's slightly on the sweeter style and very good. Tried with regular milk as well as with oat milk. Tasted great in both. Unfortunately they don't have butter croissants. Chocolate croissants were meh!! Very chewy. Also, almost all bakery items were sweet (chocolate/almond croissants), pastries, tarts, cake slices etc. only item that I noticed which wasn't sweet was the bagel with cheese cream. I Would love to see a few more non-sweet items. read more

Love this place for delicious coffee! They roast their beans right there in the lobby. They have great selections, including sugar free options. The espresso is not bitter and subtle and you may customize to your liking. They have plenty of fresh hot and iced teas as well. The lobby is spacious and clean with readily available outlets. The parking is not bad and it's easy to get to. The staff were kind, quick, and had awesome recommendations. Highly recommend to try at least once! read more

I'm always down to try new coffee spots especially local small businesses when I'm in a new area. Saw La costa while scrolling through Yelp and it was the closest to where we were so we tried it out! I love the look inside... super clean also lots of coffee/tea decor. The ladies helping were really nice and helpful. Sadly what I wanted was not available but I was not disappointed with my iced chai vanilla latte. It was sooooo good!!! I still think about it till now. I've had iced chai vanilla latte before but I don't know what made this one so good haha it just hit the spot! Hubs ordered a coconut mocha... he thought it was good too but he wished he had more coffee taste to it. But for me, I'll def come back when I'm in the area for my Latte! read more

Nice cafe in Encinitas!! I was welcomed when arriving, café has a very wide menu a lot to choose from. Has delicious fresh baked goods. The ambience is very quiet and very calm, not too loud . Plenty of seating inside and on the outside patio. Great place to come if you're looking to get some work done or homework. The service is great. They gave me some good recommendations. And I got my drink and brownie immediately after ordering. I had a strawberry banana smoothie with a chocolate brownie, and it was absolutely delicious . Cute coffee shop with cozy, warm vibes! Busy on a Saturday morning, but the line went by fast and there's plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. There's also free wifi which is a huge plus! We all enjoyed our coffee! This is a great, local coffee shop. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee is excellent. Why? They roast their beans in the store. The coffee is always fresh and full of flavor. The owner is always there and very friendly. The staff behind the counter are equally friendly. Some locals bring their dogs. Of course they can't stay in the shop, but there's always a bowl of water just outside the door. As I'm writing this review, I count 6 people working their lap tops. read more

I don't know how much coffee is actually in this but it was yummy! Tasted like a caramel milkshake. A good drink so the people who like something sweet. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Probably waited about 10 from ordering to when drink came out. They were pretty busy so it wasn't too bad of a wait all things considered. read more

We're from out of town so we didn't know what to expect. The service was interesting, I wish we would've received the nice guy working, instead we got a scatter brained girl that could barely take our order and walked away from the register to forget to put my bagel in the toaster. There would be less confusion if they asked for peoples names for drinks. It was awkward when I had the same drink as someone else. The outdoor area was beautiful and cool. I'll give the girl the benefit of the doubt maybe she was having a bad morning. Maybe a better system for picking up food and your drink. read more

Yikes, this place has gone down hill. I was a teacher for six years just up the road and purchased my morning latte almost five days a week. The former atmosphere was lively and fun. The current state is dark, dingy, dirty and the employees all have an annoyed smirk while taking your order. They are impatient with people. I witnessed the couple in front of me asking questions about the store's 100 types of pastries. The girl answering them was short and curt and acted as though they were taking up too much air space. A HIDDEN GEM!!!! I really feel like this is the last place in North County where you can get an actual drink for under $5 like inflation has not hit them lol. I love coming here for the homely ambiance and the fresh smell of coffee inside because they roast it in house. There is a good amount of seating both indoors and outdoors, and it's right next to the Carlsbad Library, which sets up for a perfect day if you like reading or getting some work done. I have always ordered the iced vanilla bean americano, it usually comes out to about ~$5 after tip which is SO in budget. My dad loves the house brew and we just chill when we go in here because everyone is so nice and the coffee tastes so good. read more

Great service, great coffee, and great place to hang out--whether inside or outside. There's plenty of seating outside. My go-to here is the iced Americano. Flavor was great--ice did. It wash down the flavor of the coffee. My kid loves hot chocolate and they offer kids hot chocolate so it's not super hot. Thumbs up on that offering. My favorite local coffee shop! The drinks are delicious and they have an assortment of giant pastries to choose from. The baristas are welcoming and friendly, too! There's limited space to work and even less places to plug in a laptop but it's perfect for folks who want to catch up with a friend, enjoy a good book or get a good cup of coffee. Stopped by here due to being in the area and seeing all the wonderful reviews. The ambiance of the shop is nice, many people working or chatting at 5 in the afternoon. They have bags of unroasted coffee beans strewn about to let you know that they do roast them on site. The are also hand painted mugs on display for purchase that looked amazing and really added a great vibe to the space. When I went up to order the baristas seem more into talking with each other rather than acknowledging me, I got a seasonal drink the honey nut latte, which is a honey and hazelnut latte and a lemon poppy seed scone. I will say that the scone was amazing and definitely worth going back to get it again. The same could not be said about the coffee, it wasn't very sweet at all and because of that I was expecting there to be a good quality espresso taste instead, which there wasn't. It tasted very watered down, not sure if I just got a bad shot or their machine wasn't working but the coffee definitely wasn't the best. read more

I come here for my fix of coffee while waiting for brunch at Plumhouse. Very mom and pop feel, yet it's always very busy. Seats are always hard to find because people like to come with their laptops. There are also tables outside. The cool thing is they roast their own beans. Taste is hit or miss. Sometimes I get a great cup of latte and sometimes it tastes a little burnt. 3 stars for coffee, total 4 stars still though because it's a neighborhood gem and service always comes with a smile. read more

Mixed feelings for sure. Everytime I come here, the seating layout is confusing. Like, they have a giant open space in the middle of the facility while on the edges chairs are crammed in by the door? Very odd. That said! The staff are above and beyond every time and make me feel like they're talking to me as a person. The drinks are pretty expensive like all boutique coffee shops are these days, but they are tasty. Ironically I haven't tasted their flagship coffee, so not sure there! My husband and I discovered this roaster when we were having an extended stay in Carlsbad. I cannot express how ridiculously delicious their fresh roasted coffee beans are. My husband and I have an espresso machine and we can ALWAYS tell the difference between a bag of fresh beans from La Costa and a bag that had been gifted to us by friends from somewhere else. Doug is the owner who is always working away making sure the beans are roasted to perfection and his high standards. Each roast has their own unique flavor profile and we prefer all his roasts black with no sugar or cream to fully enjoy each cup! We've now been ordering pounds of whole beans from here for over 5 years and make sure to ask for a punch card!! It's packed on a Saturday but that makes perfect sense. Really friendly staff that were able to help us get a bag of beans. They weigh and pack them when ordered so nothing is sitting in bags too long. We love the low waste aspect of this system! The owner is essentially roasting beans every day, making sure people have fresh roasted beans always. They mainly do medium and dark roast coffees. The shot of espresso I got was good and would do well with a milk drink. Their pastry display did not disappoint. Packed full of croissants and cakes and other desserts, it made my mouth water. Everything seems well priced ($17 for 16oz of beans, $1 for a shot of espresso, $4 for a big coffee). It's a great local store that serves its community well. read more
