I understood that the location could not take in a "Fremont bird" asked her kindly if there are any recommendations of what my next steps would be and she straight up told me "No I can't help you." I hung up and received a message to contact the same place for help and again, was met with the same rude tone from the lady. "Yes you called earlier no we cannot take your bird." lasked her what I should do for overnight care since all of the sites near me are closed and again refused to help me. I am left dumbfounded with the lack of assistance, care, and actual work being put into this. Why hire this person in the first place?

These will last you about a month. My friends are so amazed when they meet the bunnies, when they pick up the rabbits and the bunnies just snuggle. Even after we got our bunnies I was still able to contact them if I had any questions. The bunnies settled in quickly and they are both in perfect health.

The website was really easy to navigate - one of the first things you see is a page with pictures of available rabbits. It also has detailed information about the business and holland lops in general. I bought my chinchilla lop, Felicity from here and a couple of months later everything is great. She loves our other lop and has an amazing personality; loves to sit on laps, enjoys being pet while resting in her spread out position, no chewing/digging, etc. I couldn't have asked for a better lop! On top of this, the breeder, Jannette, was great; she genuinely cares about all of her rabbits and makes sure that they're bred well. It's really easy to contact her, you can send an email through the website or give her a call/text. She gives all new owners a big bag of hay and a container of pellets to help you get started. As a bonus, all of the rabbits already have cute names so you don't have to spend time thinking about one! I would definitely recommend One Stop Lop to anybody who's looking for a furry friend. I'm definitely coming back if I ever want to add a third lop to my family!

The owners answered all my routine questions beforehand, and then kept anxiety at bay with regular photo updates during his stay. Nicole was especially amazing, sharing great tips on music and videos to keep him calm. Remarkably, my bird looked better when I picked him up than when I dropped him off! Previous boarders left him looking dusty and shaggy, but here he was pristine and happy. I'm thrilled to have this gem so close to home. I've already booked my next trip with zero travel anxiety!

After my Siamese Sarabi died from FIP (got her free from a "breeder", wanted to rescue her!) my…read moreheart was broken. We'd only had Sarabi for 18 months but they were loved filled. I was looking for another Siamese and happened upon a picture of a sweet grey tabby but didn't think much of it. While my husband and I were out in San Jose one day we stopped at the local pet store for some cat food for our Nala. I just by chance happened into the rescue area and there was Elisa, and "Chica" the grey tabby I saw online. Mind you, I was looking for a Siamese, however when I saw the tabby I picked her up and it was over. I turned around to my hubby and he knew, she was mine. I filled out the paperwork and went to visit/pick her up a few days later from her foster home. "Chica" renamed IzzyBelle or IzzyB (or my nickname for her was Mama) wasn't quite a year we think, small and Elisa said was a "silent meower", Elisa lied! Once Izzy settled, she never stopped talking! Sadly I lost my girl yesterday, after 8+ years (she was 9 we think) she's waiting for me on the other side, she's not in pain and she's fat and sassy like she used to be. I had a wonderful vet give me and her the chances to try and then a grace filled passing, on my shoulder tucked under my neck like she liked to snuggle in often. Once my Nala passes, our hearts are healed and the threat of any leukemia "germs" from Izzy are gone, I will be back to Unconditional Love for a new kitty friend. Please patronize rescue places, the kitty that is yours will find you, no matter what you think you want, they'll find YOU and your heart will be theirs forever. In my grief I tell you this, let a rescue come into your heart.

Having been raised in a household chock-full of pets - cats, bunnies, horses, a younger brother…read morewith ADD, and even a parakeet - my mind was set on adopting two cats of my own as soon as it was financially feasible. When that day came, I checked out Unconditional Love's website based on a friend's recommendation, and after finding out I'd be supporting a rescue group, I eagerly submitted my application. A few days later, I received a call asking if I could swing by their next adoption fair so they could show me some cats they thought would be great matches. I'm pretty sure I screamed "YES!" before Elena, the volunteer-slash-foster-mom on the other line, could even finish asking the question. Upon my arrival to the adoption fair at the Pet Food Express in Los Gatos, I quickly remembered that I suck at making decisions, especially when it comes to cute, fuzzy things. Thankfully, without my having to ask for guidance, Elena and Renee, another wonderful volunteer, introduced me to Kona (Cleo) and Ellie (Lorelei), who instantly turned my heart to mush. Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances, I was unable to take them home immediately. Though the weeklong wait felt like years, this time was well spent. Unconditional Love got my girls socialized, and organized their medical records, chip information, and adoption forms, making the pick-up seamless. Perhaps most importantly, they saved two cats whose lives got off to a rather rough start, and let me give them a forever home. There are no words to describe the joy, silliness and love they've brought to my life. Unconditional Love's $100 per animal adoption fee does not begin to cover what's owed for that. *And now, as an added bonus, I am going to step on my soapbox for just a moment to discuss my take on the breeders vs. rescues debate.* According to the ASPCA, between 3-4 MILLION dogs and cats are euthanized nationwide each year. The vast majority of these animals are perfectly adoptable, but due to overcrowding, they don't get that chance to find their "forever" home. If you are wanting to adopt a pet, please consider: A) rescuing instead of buying from a breeder; and B) getting your pet spayed or neutered to prevent more overcrowding in shelters. If you do, you'll save money, be more likely to get a healthy pet, and most importantly, you'll feel better because you're saving two lives - the pet you adopt and a homeless animal somewhere who can be rescued because of space you helped free up.

We recently discovered a feral cat has been living in our front yard, under our bay window. I…read moresuppose she turned into a long-term tenant once we started leaving food out for her. It wasn't until I started googling what we should do for feral cats that I learned about TNR. Well, lo and behold, the San Jose shelter's online appointment system showed no openings for two months in a row, and we were starting to see our new tenant mating (oh the wonders of Ring cameras). I reached out to 13th St Cats, and Cassie and Laura helped us our tremendously, first with arranging to loan us a trap and instructing us on how to trap the cat, and getting us an appointment at the shelter when there was a cancellation. We were able to get our feral cat fixed, all in a day's work. I really appreciate the work 13th St Cat Rescue is doing to cut down on the overpopulation of cats, but also to help us care for the cats that are already out there. It was very apparent that Laura and Cassie care very much about the work they're doing. I'm very thankful for them, and for 13th St Cat Rescue.

We went to an adoption event they were having this weekend and we fell in love with a pair of…read morekittens filled out the adoption application so we could meet them. Spoke with the owner for about thirty minutes before even heading inside to meet them to give her the baseline of things that typically raise concerns to cat rescues. We have two dogs, live in a studio, and they would stay in the bathroom while getting acclimated to us and the dogs. We let the rescue team know both dogs grew up around cats and have never shown any issues and they know to go to the door for potty time (ensuring the back door would not be left open for the cats safety). During this conversation I heavily emphasized and talked about my Pitty mix because she is off weird with people and we won't push that but she has never shown any signs of aggression towards other animals. They were very open to our situation and told us they do a "trial" period to ensure a smooth transition for the cats and even if it doesn't work out after the three weeks we can hand them back over with no ties. We were super excited to find a rescue that seemed open and willing to work with us. I have been the pet industry for over six years so I know how finicky cat rescues can be sometimes and was super excited to thought I have found some place different. We spent 45 minutes looking at the cats and they were absolutely adorable and we wanted to go through with the adoption process. We talked to the owner she approved our application and we set up at time for Monday for her to drop off the cats to us. We were told we would be getting a text from the foster that same evening confirming drop off time and sending over some pictures of the kittens. We didn't get anything that night knowing they were running the adoption event through the weekend and they may be busy we decided to send an inquiry email Sunday at around 3:40 pm. We didn't get a message back until almost 9pm on Sunday. The rescue staff knew both of us worked Monday-Friday so meet up would have to be after than. We went to the pet store on Saturday to buy the basic cat necessities and once we got a message confirming the meeting and that we would be receiving the cats we would order the bigger things (cat tree, things for outside of the bathroom, etc.) but given we weren't texted until 9pm the night before everything had not arrived or is now arriving today (Tuesday). When the foster arrived to our home we immediately felt judgment due to the location of our home. Before entering our home the foster asked to meet the dogs we allowed for her to meet one but again with my pit mix she is ultimately nervous around people and it's not worth stressing her out and the foster let us know that was a "concern" for her but ultimately something I didn't feel comfortable stressing my dog out for. After entering the home it just felt like a very judged and invasive process. Under the impression based on the interactions with the dogs she would not be leaving the cats with us she still proceeded to take pictures of our home which we do not know if they have been deleted or not. Ultimately I do not blame the rescue or the foster as I believe they are doing what they believe is best for the cats but I do also want to warn people that the adoption process was very very invasive and left us with an overall icky feeling. They got our hopes up and seemed super welcoming and willing to work with and then completely flipped when it came to meeting at our home and we were judged for a number of reasons. We set up our home for two new additions and still have materials being delivered to our home with no use now. Ultimately we just find it very rude and distasteful.

I can't recommend Laurie's pet sitting (PetsitterGirl) highly enough!…read more I first met Laurie in 2012 when I had two kittens that needed pet sitting. I was traveling for work quite a bit at that time. One of my goals for my cats was that they should be as well adjusted, outgoing, confident and social as they could be. I feel like Laurie has always understood this and I really appreciate that. Laurie has always gone above and beyond to make sure that my cats have fun, eat their food and get the attention they need. When I get home after Laurie has been cat sitting, my cats are excited to see me but they are calm and not stressed. When my cats were younger, one of them broke his leg and needed knee surgery. (I guess he was a little too confident!) Laurie ensured he still received petting and played within his abilities even though he had to be confined to a large crate to recuperation. This past fall I had my refrigerator replaced. On one of Laurie's visits she arrived to find a hose from behind the refrigerator spewing water at full force! Laurie texted/emailed me right away. Even though I was on a plane and couldn't immediately respond, she took action. By the time my flight landed, the water had been turned off, the water had been mopped and toweled up and the situation was as resolved as it could get until I reached home. I was extremely grateful as we had also just had a new wood floor installed. The water damage could have been very costly. I also want to add a summary of the experience my parents have had. They have an elderly kitty (17 years) who is receiving fluids 3 times per week. When we all went on vacation together, Laurie made sure that my parents' senior cat made it to his vet to get fluids.

I thought we were all set for going away, but then she emails to say that she's changed her mind -- she's not comfortable with pet sitting for us since our cat is elderly, and she can't be sure about any potential health problems. Jennifer is not bonded and insured, so I understand her position. However, it left us scrambling for other pet sitting options.
