Love this shop. I've been to several locations and this is my favorite. River is absolutely the best, if you want an excellent skin FADE or to revive your mullet hawk, please see the expert that is River. I asked around and Tina W at the Bird's Barbershop on W Williams Cannon came highly recommended as an experienced stylist who was great with long hair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I made an appointment and came in today with only the vaguest idea of where I wanted to go with my hair. We talked about some alternatives and looked at a couple photos and agreed on a solution[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Tina carefully did her magic and walked me through using Layrite Natural Matte Cream to style it after shampoo. I came last week to try to get a walk in but promptly left after after overhearing the old woman who works by the arcade machine stage whisper to her customer that shes so sick of all the "Mexicans" and that shes so happy that they are getting "rounded up" and that hearing them speak English is "annoying". After reading some of the other reviews I decided to just book an appointment. That turned out to be a good idea. I arrived 15 minutes early and the place was completely empty. I watched three walk-ins get turned away because they didn't have an appointment. I over heard them being told they only have two people working at the shop. My barber showed up a couple of minutes before my scheduled time. I got the $35 Shortcut and it was okay. And by okay it was just a normal cut with a hot lather shave on the back of the neck. I could have saved myself $15 and gone to Great Clips for the same style of cut. Next time I probably will. I can't say that I recommend Birds Barbershop. I wouldn't tell anyone not to go there but for me there's more value in going to Floyds or Gambuzas. If you're just looking for a quick haircut, stick with the cheaper places. I also noted that another 3 customers were turned away while I was getting my hair done. I have to wonder how they stay in business. Those customers probably won't ever be back. read more

For both color and cut, she has always delivered and takes plenty of time to both listen to what I want as well as recommend things that might help me when I don't have her expertise to get me ready every day! I got the worst haircut of my life here Friday and after 10 years and 100+ haircuts I'm done with Birds. The quality and attention to detail has dropped in the last few years as the prices have increased. What used to be a 30 minute haircut has now become a 10-15 minute haircut where you have to remind them to do things included in the price. Too much turnover and it feels more and more like a Supercuts. read more

Not great. Save your money and go to great clips. My first experience was walking into birds on wm cannon on a Friday around 1. The store was completely empty as far as customers so I walked in. I was turned away as I was told they did not have any stylists in the shop. I was also told that I need to book and appointment online. So I went home and made my first appointment. My stylist arrived 30 mins late for the appointment but I didn't mind as I didn't have anything going on that day. The haircut itself wasn't bad but it felt rushed and was never told during my wait that I would be waiting on the stylist to arrive. I probably would have just left. At any rate I decided to give the benefit of the doubt and book another appointment a month later on Friday around 2. I arrived early and got checked in. I watched two people come in after me and get seated with their stylists almost immediately, no problem. I sat and waited. Around 220 I was told by tue blue haired receptionist that they were waiting on my stylist to arrive. I asked if they had an eta for the stylist, but I was told they did not know. I kindly let them know that I had to be home by 3 to get my child and didn't appreciate not being notified when I got there. I believe that they were aware of this but waited to tell me until 220. If I had been told when I got there that the stylist was not there, I would have left. I don't appreciate my time being wasted and no one caring that they don't keep to their appointments. I'll save my money and go to great clips and spend 15$ on the same quality of haircut with stylist that actually show up. I hope your experience is better! read more

Couldn't style my hair.. whatever... but to yoink one sideburn and not match the other or bring it up is laughable.

We were very saddened by our experience with Monica last weekend. When we walked in, she immediately called my daughter's hair a "rat's nest." At that point, I should have walked out, but we continued to explain to her our history with her thick curly hair and what we wanted done. The haircut was not what we asked for (much too short, thinning that we didn't ask for nor did she ask permission, and layers 7 inches above hairline is not a trim). When we left, Monica said "yeah her hair is definitely different" which was clearly not meant to be a compliment. When working with a client, especially a teenager, I would think you would want them to leave feeling better, not worse about their hair. As an educator and a mother, I am really disappointed and crestfallen for my child. read more
