    Nachos with MIA chili.
    Steven P.

Lots of issues here. I will start with the good: The waitress was very nice as was the additional help. Now everything else: We ordered the cheese croquets. This might be just the taste, but nobody at our table liked them. Also - and this seems to be the specialty of the house - they were not particularly warm. We also ordered the nachos with the brisket chili. The plate was huge and the nachos were pretty good. Unfortunately, the chili was largely a rumor. Now for dinner. Oh boy. First the staff, including our waitress, brought us food for another table. We didn't realize it right away, because the other table ordered a couple of items we did. Then we did get our food. We had a couple of the brisket grilled cheeses. These were tasty, but again, with precious little meat in them, and not hot. We had a smash burger order - COLD. Two mushroom truffle burgers - also cold and one was severely undercooked. We were going to a show so we suffered with it. The fries were a hit by the way. I ordered the salt caramel gelato. I've had similar many times. This was overly salty. I was very excited to go here, but unfortunately, quality flew the coop at Birdsall.

We found this little gem of a restaurant after a four hour hiking in the bear mountains. Let me tell you, we were starvinngggggggg. The reviews look great so we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I was first grasped by the arty theme, some unique carving and paintings on the wall, give you a Wild West feel. We were immediately waited and did not have to wait too long for our food to arrive. In terms of the food, I absolutely loved my double patty smash burger. Juicy and yummy. The appetizer lentil soup was soothing, perfect for a Fall day.

Best bar in Peekskill. Great beer selection. Great bartenders. Nice art on the walls. Live music on the weekends. Nice patio on the side of the bar. And the food is amazing! You have to try the SMOKED chicken wings. Fall off the bone tender.

Cute local spot and surprisingly not busy for Sunday brunch. They have a $30 prix fix menu for brunch that includes a beer, bloody mary, or mimosa, appetizer and a main. Great value! The chicken liver mousse was decent and the biscuits with Memphis style gravy was ok. The gravy tasted cheesy, which I was not expecting. Like a lot of small businesses now, there is a fee that they clearly state on the check if you pay with a card. Service was great!

I walked into Birdsall House on a Thursday night with my wife. This place looks so unassuming. The inside feels like a bar like atmosphere. The menu seemed interesting. The food was really terrific and worth every penny. The service was quick and very friendly. I would definitely comeback here again. The bartenders are really nice and they make really great drinks. I tried one of the local craft beers that they let me sample. It is a place I would highly recommend.

Highly recommend Birdsall House for great craft beer, decent cocktails and delicious food! I recently tried the vegan seitan gyro and the vegan cauliflower wings. For house-made seitan made at a non-vegan establishment I was pretty impressed! It is a bit spongey but super flavorful and if you're vegan dining with non vegans I think you'd be satisfied. The cauliflower wings were delicious and even my non-vegan husband loved those. Next time I can't wait to try their jackfruit crabcake Po' boy! The cocktails were OK- not bad just maybe a bit bland. The wine on tap was delicious and you can't go wrong with a draft beer. The inside is a bit outdated but the patio is delightful. It is on a busy street so can get noisy. Overall I think if you're vegan Birdsall House is definitely worth a trip. Update* I also recently tried the vegan jackfruit po boy sandwich and it was also delicious! The vegan remoulade was perfectly balanced and had a little kick!

The perfect smash burger doesn't exi-- Yes It does, and it's here. I'm not typically a huge burger fan but this was so so good. Two patties, good amount of cheese ratio, and a yummy sauce inside. Melts in your mouth! All of their sauces are house made: the ranch & mustard were my fav. Also, these fries are just about the most perfectly salted, crispy but soft fries out there. So so good

Amazing food, attentive service and artsy atmosphere. Great find for a road trip. Highly recommend both the beet salad w the date purée and the best Reuben sandwich and fries I have had in a while.

I like this place. Nice outdoor seating and great service. My beet and quinoa burger was so delicious and the fries were yummy. The house made ketchup was a refreshing change as was the house made mustard. You MUST try the house made pickles too--really really good. Overall a very pleasant luncheon experience.

I enjoyed my bourbon bacon jam burger (to go) even though the bun was much bigger than the patty (which is a pet peeve of mine). The fries were delicious! There are signs outside by the parking "1 hour parking". What if it takes them 40 minutes before they realize you're NOT waiting for the Metro North train! Which has its own waiting area. Didn't know if I was supposed to order at the counter, where there were a few people floating around by the cash register, and they would bring it to me, or a waitperson would eventually show up. Part of the problem is they have two outdoor seat areas, a bar area, a bistro area, and a main dining room, that has to be covered. They also sell a lot of small items to people getting off at the Metro North train station. The portions are smaller than expected. The steak sandwich comes with fries, but some pickles and coleslaw would be a nice addition; because there's not much meat in it. Even trying to settle the bill as a major operation. I definitely would not return.

BeanRunner Café - A Peekskill Gem!…read more I've been to BeanRunner many times, and it continues to be one of those unique spots in Peekskill that has its own personality and vibe. This time I stepped away from my usual order and tried the Mediterranean Salad, and I'm glad I did! It comes topped with grilled chicken and is served with pita slices and hummus. Everything worked together perfectly--it was fresh, flavorful, filling, and just really good! My usual go-to, though, is The Hurdle--turkey, bacon, Gouda cheese, sesame ginger dressing, lettuce, and tomato on panini bread. I definitely customize mine : no tomato, extra bacon, no dressing, and I prefer it cold instead of hot. So good! I also had a mocha with an extra espresso shot and extra chocolate , while my daughter and my mom enjoyed breakfast. What really makes BeanRunner special is the atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside, and the whole place gives me a cool Brooklyn lounge/café feel. Inside, you have beautiful authentic brick walls, plants thoughtfully placed throughout the seating areas, and curated artwork displayed on the walls--some of which is even available for purchase. Smooth jazz and R&B playing in the background just adds to the vibe. They cater to and strongly support local artists and musicians which is very cool! There's also a back patio, a quieter separate seating room away from the main floor, and outdoor seating with umbrellas. The outdoor area gives me a little Fort Greene/Lafayette triangle vibe, which I really enjoy. And BeanRunner is more than just a café. They have live music on weekends, and from what I'm told, they have a GOOD time! They also host poetry slams and open mics, which adds even more character to the place. They serve desserts and smoothies too, so there's plenty beyond coffee and sandwiches. The location is tucked back on Esther Place in Peekskill, across from the large Assumption Church building, and that may honestly be BeanRunner's biggest disadvantage. I truly believe that if this place weren't so tucked away, they'd be packed every day. Great food, great coffee, beautiful atmosphere, music, art, plants, indoor and outdoor seating--BeanRunner has a little bit of everything. Definitely a Peekskill spot worth discovering! 5 stars from me!
