Some of the food served to us was miserable. The ribs and brisket were too dry to eat. Pulled pork was OK. Mac n cheese totally lacked taste. The pretzel was quite good. Service overall was lacking (drinks were ordered were never served). The outdoor is very nice but with the disappointing food we left quickly. I am not one to leave bad reviews but this is a place I wish we avoided. read more

Been to this restaurant many times, best smoked bbq in the area hands down. Quality food and the portions are huge ! Service is consistently very good. Interior of this establishment is warm and fitting for the type of place that it is. My favorite is the chorizo diner. Check it out, you cant go wrong. read more

Phenomenal food. The meats are awesome. The pastrami was a shining star for us but everything was great--including the sides! We got fries, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, and potato salad as our sides. All of them were incredible and did not disappoint. The fries were crispy and good, the creamed spinach was lush, the potato salad was made correctly, so so good. I was waiting for the mac and cheese to be boring and it was the total opposite. It had this awesome tang to it. I loved them all. The corn bread, if anything, disappointed because it wasn't fresh. Also, my pumpkin beer had a weird smell to it but my husband traded with me because he didn't smell it. Overall, that food shined. Service was fine. I look forward to returning. I nibbled on the leftovers from our Pig Nic the whole week following our visit! Barbecue everyday? Hell yeah. This visit reminded me what I've been missing out on. read more

I love this place! I think the food is exceptional, and the portions are very very generous. I had the brisket, it was tender and smoky. I'm not a beer drinker but I did notice the extensive listing of brews available. The place is casual, just the way I like it. The waitress was fun to talk to and did everything right with no wait for initial service--we were greeted immediately. And the time it took to get our food after we ordered was quick too. A great BBQ spot located in Mahopac, NY. Ive been coming here for years. They have a grrst selection of BBQ menu items and a big list of drafts and drinks. This spot is known fot their HUGE PORTIONS, their Ribs are fall off the rib and go well with their sauce. I also enjoy their brisket and different side selections. This is a barbecue/smoke spot and those meats are very tasty!!! Took away a star because I got a pulled pork sandwich and the sauces made the bottom part of the bun so soggy I just used a fork. That was fine by me since I mostly wanted to enjoy the meat and my sides haha. I got a side of coleslaw (tasty) and Mac and cheese (not that great unfortunately). The people there weee wonderful but food wasn't that great. True barbecue should have a taste with or without barbecue sauce and this was very bland. The macaroni and cheese was just cheese and noodles with no real taste and the baked beans and cornbread were just OK. I will stick with my original place down in Yonkers. read more

We love this place! Great atmosphere, huge beer selection, friendly, fast service, BIG portions, and delicious food. Better for meat eaters than those (like me) who go for chicken. The chicken dishes I've tried have been a little dry, but my husband the carnivore has loved everything he's ever ordered: ribs, brisket, pork, pastrami, etc. The sides are all excellent. Also--they sell growlers and re-fill them if you have an empty growler at home. We'll be back in the warmer months to take advantage of their great outdoor seating area, perfect for large groups and covered with a "ceiling" of white twinkle lights. read more

Stopped by after apple picking in Fishkill. It was around 7 pm on Saturday. Seating was quick. Drinks came right away, and food came out in reasonable timing. Food was okay. Brisket and pulled pork were a bit on dry side but overall satisfactory. Staff were friendly. We loved the outdoor seating! Lights and the fire pit were relaxing. We will come back again! read more

I love this food - but have noticed that the prices are not reflecting portions. I order the spring rolls every time and I am seeing smaller spring rolls each time For the same price !!! They are getting smaller and smaller each time I order! They are 1 inch (literally) then previous and I got 3 for 10 dollars! This is why I only come here every few 6 months or so. read more

It depends what you get and when you get it last time I was there I had smoked chicken and onion rings. The chicken was petrified completely inedible. The onion rings were absolutely soggy. However usually the ribs are pretty good. read more

The restaurant is an old barn looking place. I get that they're trying to go for the rustic Americana look, but the place looks like it can be better cleaned. The staff I have encountered are very nice. The food here can be very good but it is inconsistent. Sometimes they do a really good job, and other times the food can be semi-cold and you can tell it was rushed. BBQ food requires time and attention to detail. A few times I know they served me food that was made the day before. Their sauce is a thick molasses based sauce. That being said, when the food is fresh, and they take their time; Holy Smoke makes very good BBQ. I don't come here as much as I used to because I got tired of rolling the dice. This place needs to iron out their quality control issues, and they'll have a solid BBQ spot. There's not a lot of competition in the area for them. It can be a good spot for beers and apps, they have a great tap list. Hopefully if you go it'll be on one of their good days. read more

Had dinner. My wife had a full rack of ribs with onion rings ad garlic mashed potatoes. I had the pulled pork with creamed spinach and Mac an cheese sides. Both dinners came with a corn bread cupcake which was flavorless and hard. The food was Luke warm at best. Very dissatisfied. read more

WOW! BBQ in a gas station! Great BBQ!!!!! I'd give him twenty if I could. We were driving by and caught sight of the smoker. On a whim, we decided to give it a try since we're always looking for a good BBQ joint. I still can't get over how incredibly good the food is. We've been back many, many times even tho it's a fair distance from our home. Everything we've had is sooooo good. I always get the pulled pork sandwich with sweet sauce ~ in my opinion, it's the best pulled pork sandwich in the whole world. Seriously! Hubby has had numerous of the other offerings, and hasn't been disappointed with a single one. I'm easy....just give me my pulled pork sandwich!!!!!!!! Hope they stay in business forever. Both locations of holy smokes have never failed me! Been going since I was a kid and always get the same thing. Caroline pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. Portions are hefty and be sure to get extra sauce on side because that's the best part! They've perfected the recipe both in their sauces and slow cooked pork. I get the bread and pickle on the side when getting take out so they don't intermingle or get everything soggy. Order a head though because wait times for pickups have ranged from 20 minutes to over an hour. Nevertheless service is always great upon entering in person. read more

I've been here a few times. I wish there were a few more items that are traditionally sold at bbq places. But the service has always been great. However we did make a reservation one evening and the restaurant randomly closed for an event and we would have never known unless we made a reservation and saw they canceled it on us the day prior. So I suggest always calling before driving down. The Mac and cheese is great. Love getting the corn bread and brisket empanadas! A great spot when you're around the area to come to! They also have a great happy hour! read more

Blue Hill at Stone Barns (2 Michelin stars) and La Bastide by Andrea Calstier (1 Michelin star) are the only two Westchester County restaurants with Michelin Status. Purdy's rugged farm based surroundings on this clear bright morning were a bit unusual for what one would expect. However, once we entered the landmark old house with its original well appointed ambience of 1775 and beguiling aromas coming from the kitchen, we knew we were in for a treat. Menus were not quite ready (printer problem?) upon arrival to our table. Once we received the menu of the day - we knew what to order, plus we were accompanied by a great friend who happens to be a wonderful chef who knew the place well, and she is quite familiar with what to choose based on the well-mannered upper echelon Westchester locals. Here is what we ordered. Firstly, a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our birthday guests. Followed by ... STARTERS: Clam Chowder Polenta Fries Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail MAINS: Wild Mushroom Bucatini Nova Scotia Halibut Scottish Salmon Everything was delicious and well plated. First and foremost, it's a liquor store, but the term "liquor warehouse" is probably better suited for the ample selection of wines, spirits, and craft beers they carry. They even have a Walking Dead themed wine where the labels animate before your eyes if you scan it on the TV show's app! Pretty next level if you ask me! Of course, we were there for the cigars, and the inventory didn't disappoint. They also sell pipes and hookah if that's what you're into as well. The inside is exactly as I expected, a Spacious classic sports bar / Pub with a beautiful pool table, dart boards, flat screens and a large centered bar...the bartender Lori is so sweet!! As the owner saw us and realized we are "first timers", she came over to introduce herself and welcomed us..She is so kind and friendly..and told us all about their events and promotions..(ei: live music, trivia, DJs..) now its making sense why this unassuming sports bar Bar is so special and so beloved by the locals.
