We had a phenomenal shrimp fried rice formed into a tower with a runny fried egg on top. Looked great - nice portion, tasted even better at $28. Our second entree - a coconut fish stew with a basil coconut sauce had tender shrimp, large cod pieces and U 30 scallops. Best part - Tarranova toast for dipping the tasty broth ($29) Our great waiter suggested the smashed fried potatoes with creamy dip. For $15 they will feed 2-4 adults. The wine and beer (excellent value - the Continue Italian Pilsner on draft) were reasonably priced. My only complaint is the 3% credit card charge before tax. Bring cash. I came to NY to visit family. They brought me to Fin & Brew, as they are regulars. It was a gorgeous fall day, crisp air, and sunny. So, we sat outside in the sun. The views are spectacular! You're right on the water (Hudson River), with hills on the other side covered in fall colors. The service was great. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We were well taken care of by the staff. The menu was brunch. I ordered the pasta with shrimp. It was amazing!!! It was so, so good! Some of the best pasta I've had in a very long time! My husband and his sister both had the fried rice. They raved about it. They both loved it. My sister in law had the eggs Benedict. They were also delicious! She was the only one who finished all of her food. The portions are generous. We had a lot of leftovers. We also had a few drinks. I had the passion fruit cosmo. It was delicious! My SIL had the cucumber martini. We all shared a bottle of white wine with our meals. For dessert we ordered a "Tipsy pumpkin". It was delicious! It had 4-5 different components and everyone was better than the last. How is it that I haven't been to Fin & Brew before? I feel like it is such a lost opportunity. I'll have to make up for it going forward. And.... The view.... I had PEI oysters and little neck clams with horseradish, vinegar, lemon and was offered Tabasco by the chef. They were all very fresh and tasted great with perfect chews. I then had the beer mussels, which were cleaned well, cooked well, and had a great beer sauce. Definitely dip-worthy sauce. The sushi is like high-end NYC-quality sushi. I had a spicy tuna roll, which was fresh and had a kick. I was so impressed with the freshness, I decided to give them the real test by ordering Ikura sushi and Toro sushi. Both were spot on, great tension in the Ikura, and a meltiness with the toro. The beer selection was also well curated. I enjoyed my Timontorne maibock. The chef came out to speak with us and talk us through how they source and prepare the food. He was extremely passionate about his menu, the sushi, food quality, and whether we enjoyed the meal. Great time there Sunday night. Had a 5:30 pm reservation and was seated quickly. Started with the Cool Hand Lager and shrimp cocktail, then tried the Donkey Korn Lager with the brick chicken. Everything was wonderful, including my server Leah who is lovely. Asked if I wanted any dessert, but instead of something sweet, I opted for another Cool Hand Lager and sat outside and enjoyed the cool weather and the view. It was a good decision to come by here. Great view from the top. We were blessed with beautiful weather on todays visit. The menu is quite limited. We came in during an after meal time meaning just right after our lunch. So we opted to go for light meal ...sushi, clams and sangria were worth the try. Maybe an off night but from time we got seated didn't feel welcome. Server was good but a lot of pin-balling. Just in case you wanted to know, don't come earlier than 5 as entrees were not available and were reiterated by person seating is and waitress. Meh is the best description I have for this place. First, the hostess tried to seat us away from the window with an amazing view. The restaurant was almost entirely empty. I had to request the other table. The menu is a kind of fusion thing. Some of the dishes seem very interesting. It fails in the execution. The shrimp cocktail has a Japanese spice blend on it. It's a nice idea that fails when you pair it with a classic cocktail sauce. It doesn't work. The dish needs a different sauce. Also, the shrimp was overcooked. In fact, all the seafood was overcooked, except the scallop in the Fisherman's Stew. The stew is another good idea that fails in the execution. For $29 you could strain all the woody bits and seeds out of it to make it more pleasant experience to eat. Also, the portion was small. just seafood and the broth, although they said there were potatoes in it there weren't. And there was only 1 scallop in the dish. The Mussels were beautiful, large and a little over-cooked. The beer sauce in which they were steamed was not pleasant. It was bitter and sour. It washed out the mussel's flavor as well as the flavor of the bacon and herbs in sauce. It needed balance. The Onion Baddies were the best thing on the table. They were crispy, tasty, well fried and came with a sauce that was perfect for them. They were great. And that amplified the disappointment across the rest of the dishes. If this side dish can be interesting, well prepared and delicious, the rest of them could be as well. The service was another disappointment. A little too eager and a little bit of a push for the upsell. Also, a little slow when the place was empty. As it got busier, the service got worse. 15 minutes waiting with dessert menus is too long. read more

We needed some brunch/lunch on our drive up from NYC to Shokan, and I found this place on Yelp. The reviews don't lie; this restaurant is the BOMB. Also prIces are super reasonable, at least during brunch, and you get pretty good value on money. Chef Jon Anastacio is so friendly and came out to chat with us. Our server Kerri gave us excellent service. The restaurant was very accommodating to my food intolerance and triple checked to make sure I could eat everything. This is a racist restaurant. The worst for NYC. We had hiked and spend the day around the area. It was late -6pm. We came in out of the rain and the hostess asked if we had reservations and of course we did not and she said we would be better served downstairs and there was a wait till 8 pm. We pulled up Fin & Brew on the app OpenTable and found open reservations starting from 6:15pm through the rest of the evening. As we waited at the bar, we noticed a couple of people that came after us were seated before us, and they had later reservations. We had to make the host aware that we were still waiting and that she was seating people before us. As for the food. It was sub-par for the prices. Very sub-par. Granted, I will say that their Bordeaux was very good. But as for the food, I asked for a medium steak, and I received medium rare. The steak was very chewy. The side of potatoes was an extra $14. So I didn't order those, thankfully. The appetizer (pork belly stir fry) was good, that's about it. The desert was just ok I probably won't be back for the food. I was among a party that was turned away at 6pm with claims of having no tables available until 8pm. The hostess told us that the pub downstairs was more "kid friendly". We were looking forward to dining at Fin & Brew so we pulled them up in the app OpenTable, it allowed us to make a reservation for just 15 minutes later and showed availability throughout the rest of the evening. I hate that I had to explain to my young children that sometimes people will take one look at them and refuse them service. The hostess that turned us away later explained to us that she is the manager. I am beyond disappointed and would never recommend visiting this restaurant. read more

After getting boxed out of New Years Eve dinner from Tarrytown north, my small group found Fin and Brew in Peekskill in far northern Westchester on the Hudson River. While we could not enjoy the Hudson River views on the stormy foggy night, we could enjoy our fantastic last dinner of 2022. Mike, the Executive Chef who came out to introduce himself at the end of his artfully prepared five course dinner received high praise from the four of us. Absolutely love this place. Great view, super nice waitstaff, and delicious food. It's a really nice special occasion or date spot. I like to sit outside because it overlooks the water, but inside is lovely, too. Their sushi is delicious, as are the brick chicken and the salmon. Love their cocktails. The best thing about this restaurant is the view! I visited with friends during brunch and sat by one of the windows to be able to see the Hudson River and the marina. I love the location of this restaurant but I would highly recommend using GPS because it is in the middle of nowhere in Peekskill. I was satisfied with the service because the staff was attentive and professional. The brunch menu has few options, I order the hash with smoked brisket but the meat was a bit fatty. I don't have any complaints about the cocktails they were We'll balance. I will definitely visit this restaurant again but next visit I will get seafood. read more

Came to Fin & Brew on Valentine's Day after realizing the place we intended on eating at were fully booked. This was our second time dining here, and although the first time I'd have to say wasn't really memorable, they definitely impressed us this time. First off, loved the venue both times. As for the food, the Valentine's Day pre fix menu was pure deliciousness. The first course was oysters, followed by probably the most delicious hummus dish I've ever had. I literally couldn't stop eating it. For the main course I got the salmon which was perfectly cooked...crispy skin, seasoned, all that goodness. Sadly, only disappointment was the red velvet cake dessert which I had high hopes for but didn't meet my expectations considering how good the other courses were. If you enjoy amazing fusion dishes that follow local food availability and thus change with the seasons (along with a few to-die-for standards like their shrimp cocktail and well-doctored half-shell oysters), followed by out-of-this world desserts served with beautifully artistic flair, then this is the place for you. Over the past couple of years, I've been here with large parties and just couple dining, and have been uniformly treated with delightful service (modern, sense-of-humor, letting-you-in-on-a-secret style, not traditional stuffy, exacting, intimidatingly pedantic style). Last night was no different, even though the place was practically bursting at the seams with diners, including an out-of-town celebrity group at the big round table under the quirky giant mural of a giant octopus attacking a ship --take that, giant octopus, I had one of your relatives for a delicious appetizer! But more on both these things later. Chef Mike runs the kitchens for the whole Factoria compound with flair and heart, and still makes time to ensure that either he or his sous chef Sarah (or sometimes both) visit each table personally. This is a great choice because they both exude energy, warmth, and passionate creativity, and their visit elevates the diner's evening rather than being an interruption. They gladly answer any and all questions, so you get the chance to learn how his or her family background, life experiences, and training, the local market availability, all play into the delectable artistry that arrived on your plate this evening. You also never know whether celebrities might show up to dinner, and the people here are always worth watching, celebrity or not. Last night, we learned that the big round seating spot with the giant lazy susan, the so-called "captain's table" (I've sat there with a large party before) was occupied by a group that included actor/comedian Tate Donovan, semiconductor giant AMD's senior vice president Forrest Norrod, actor Sadie Sink, and several other people that Google Lens couldn't identify. They were there when we arrived and were still going strong enjoying themselves as we were leaving. Last night, I started with a delightful passionfruit cocktail and had the Korean fried octopus followed by the wild Hokkaido scallops, and I just about swooned with delight. The octopus was incredibly tender, the best I've ever had, and carried this amazing sweet-savoury-spicy sauce that perfectly tied it together. There was no heavy bread coating, so the octopus was allowed to really shine. The scallops were perfectly cooked and served with a potato strata and delightful homemade blue potato chip garnishes, and a creamy but not too thick sauce that the server poured over the dish with flair from a little pitcher. My table partners had the yin-yang roll, the onion baddies (I snagged one of these, and I'm so glad I did -- indescribably delicious!), and for their mains, the Long Island Duck and the Fisherman's Stew, all of which were pronounced to be excellent. Chef Mike really knows what he is doing with fusion fare! For dessert, we did not hold back, knowing from a previous visit that all the desserts are made in house at the hands of Sous Chef Sarah. We shared the Cherry Poppin' toffee pudding, the carrot cake, and the Rhubarb Rose. Due to a chocolate allergy at the table, we did not get the fourth dessert available, the Choc-Daddy, but the table next to us did, and I do believe I will go back sometime this week just to try it. The Cherry Poppin' was a creative take on a toffee pudding, which substituted sour dried cherries for the usual dates, and brightened the whole thing with Meyer lemons in the sauce. The Rhubarb Rose was an absolute confection of a piece, looking like something out of Willy Wonka, with bright colours, a gluten-free almond cake base piled with poached rhubarb, a decadent vanilla-rhubarb mousse, lime streusel, dots of pure rhubarb ecstasy, and garnished with curled rhubarb crisps -- delicious! The carrot cake was the best I've ever had anywhere, hands down. Chef Sarah delivers nuance, balance, and art with desserts that are decadent but never cloying-- a perfect ending to a simply delicious meal spent in delightful company overlooking a gorgeous view. The current version is still atop an expansive property, with stair snd elevator access from the parking lot. Panoramic views of the cove and Hudson await, whether from the dining room/bar area, large dining room or wraparound patio. The large windows open in garage door style so the bar area can be part of the outside. Chefs Mike and Ryan know what they are doing and the menu reflects a casual vibe infused with flavor and screaming quality ingredients and careful preparation. Raw bar selections reflect the waterside location and our ousters were on point. We had heard great things about the sliced steak and wow did it deliver! CHARMOULA MARINATED SKIRT STEAK* charred sweet potato | oyster mushrooms | pickled pearl onions There are plenty of choices, each a star in its own right. We hear prices have recently increased to mor accurately reflect the cost of ingredients and level if service. We think its worth it! But not to worry, if you are looking for a more budget friendly option, the same chefs champion a casual kitchen downstairs, adjacent to the laser tag, climbing wall and small brewery (yep, Captain Lawrence spinoff on site). My hubby and I came here for HVRW on Saturday evening - reservations were for 5:15. We started with a bottle of Chianti - I did the tasting for it when they uncorked the bottle. The wine itself wasn't very good, it was quite bitter with a bite so we changed our order to the Malbec. Malbec was just okay, nothing I'd ever order again. Both of us ordered the same choice off the HVRW menu: Beer Steamed Mussels, Charmoula Marinated Skirt Steak and Jane's Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream with bourbon maple syrup). Beautiful scenic views combined with outstanding menu selections results in a fine dining evening for all. Our selections included a sushi order of Spicy Tuna Roll as well as the "Ying Yang Roll" (gulf shrimp tempura / seared filet mignon) - both fresh and tasteful. Two wonderfully prepared appetizer orders followed. The "Asparagi Alla Milanese" with egg, parmesan reggiano, italian salsa verde and the delicious Fire Roasted Carrots with a lemon-tahini dressing and picked red onions - a true standout - a must order. Our main courses offered more winners. Two orders of the "Brick Chicken" selection with escarole, cranberry beans, pancetta, raisins, and pine nuts proved to be a mixed bag of pleasure - smiles across the table. The Swordfish Special lived up to its name. The Miso Chocolatey dessert was standard and uneventful. Service was pleasant and spot on early but became distant at evening end as it became a bit of a chore getting our bill (note 3% credit card fee). Got charged a hefty service fee to use my debit card; got ignored at the bar by the snotty bartender (for whatever reason) while waiting for a table (for 2); service was exceptionally slow when we were seated (and it was 'not' crowded) and lastly, ordered coffee to wrap things up only to wait, and wait, and wait for two cups of barely warm (but fresh) coffee.
