When Birkin came into the picture, we had gone three months without a kitchen because of issues with our previous contractor, and basically had to start over with the cabinet design. When we decided it was time to remodel our kitchen and bathroom we called American kitchen company. We've seen a lot of their commercials on TV so we decided to give them a call. They were prompt and professional. The designer we met with was a pleasure to work with. When she went over the proposal we were blown away. Their bid was very overpriced, almost 3 times what we had budgeted. We knew we had to shop around. I placed a few quote requests through yelp. Birkin was 1 of 3 contractors we had out to give us bids. We have had problems in the past with contractors not returning calls, Birkin was the complete opposite, he returned every call, promptly. In the end we decided to move forward with Birkin Decker Builders. His quotes are very reasonable. He also goes out of his way to help save us money by recommending buying materials online. Birkin saved us over $1,000 on our shower glass by getting us multiple bids - a local glass dealer quoted us $2700 for shower glass - thanks to Birkin we paid $1600 with a vendor based in Vallejo. We are beyond satisfied with the final outcome of our bathroom. The timeline Birkin quoted for the bathroom remodel was twice as long, but given covid-19 we thrilled he got it done as soon as they could. They even took their time and laid down our tile meticulously - the attention to detail was worth the extra time. We called Birkin after the first contractor that tried to put up our backsplash failed to provide quality work. The grout lines weren't straight, the glass tile was chipped along the edges where the tile was cut, the edges didn't line up and is some areas the tile was cut crooked. So you could imagine the anxiety I had when it came doing this project again. Birkin made it very easy to meet with him to discuss my concerns and materials. We have an old home and have approached our remodel in phases using several different contractors. We're using Birkin Dekker Builders from here on out.
