I'd imagine this place is packed on a weekend. I ordered the fried green tomato biscuit and a side of veggie sausage and a house coffee. Husband ordered the Filthy Animal, Mimosa, and espresso. My son took me to Biscuit Head for breakfast. I had never been there so I was happy to go. I got the biscuits and sausage gravy. My son got the raspberry french toast special. Even though the place was busy we had a table right away. I got my coffee and we sat down. Our food came quickly. I was surprised to see my gravy sort of an orange color. My son's food looked delicious. I tried my food and it was good. I gave part of mine to my son and he reciprocated. His french toast was yummy as was the bacon. We were super excited to eat here based on a recommendation and our love for biscuits. We arrived at 1:00 and they closed at 2:00. The girl at the front greeted us as if we showed up at 1:57, sped through her words through a fake smile and cut me off when I spoke or looked at me like I was the biggest inconvenience ever. My food was cold at this point and the girl who said she was getting my eggs was just standing around. We got up and approached and VERY kindly said, "Hey, I'm so sorry to bug you but my food came and was missing the eggs and I've been waiting for like 15 minutes now -- my friend is already done with her food and we have a tattoo appt to get to." She was like, "Okay do you want a new one?" I said yes. They did bring me out a fresh one but the vibe was so off from the second we arrived to when we left. We were stoked to check out this spot this past weekend as we'd never been to Asheville before and a friend mentioned this place as a must. I think we may have just had an unlucky first visit, but for a $40 breakfast, we weren't super impressed to be honest. Pro: I will say that the staff was friendly! Lattes were good as well! Con: Our food was brought to our table within 5 minutes of ordering which was a welcome surprise as we had had a bit of a drive. However, the dishes we ordered were totally cold (ie refrigerated cold) despite being dropped off within minutes of placing our order. In hindsight we should have given the restaurant the opportunity to make things right - but serving up cold fried green tomatoes and cold poached eggs on one of their specialty Benedict's just sort of irked me and I was ready to leave. Our coffees came out about 5-10 minutes after our food. I should note that the person who brought them out was apologetic about it. Again, the staff was nice. The lattes were the best part of the meal. I don't think we'll be back, but it's cool that so many tourists do have a good experience here. Long lines on a Sunday but moved reasonably well for the size. They let you order up front only after a table is freeing up. The cashier was cool and made good chatter. Wow! I had looked for places before we got to Asheville and found biscuit head but wasn't convinced we should go. Someone recommended it while we ate at market place last night, so we decided we would try it. This may be one of the best things we have eaten so far, and we have eaten some great food. Coming in, we weren't sure we were in the right place, it looked more like a building you'd go to meet a realtor in lol. But inside was cozy, the staff was super friendly and fast. There was a small line out the door but we were able to be seated quickly and got our food fast as well. And when we did we were wowed. Both our biscuits were totally original and delicious. My gf had the mimosa chicken biscuit (?) and it was sweet and she loved it. I had the bologna benedict I think it was called, which was also super delicious and one of a kind. Side of sausage, which was a square chunk, delicious and unique as the other dishes. Food is subpar, mediocre, pseudo-southern breakfast fare. I would hope that the biscuits were homemade, but honestly, I also wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. Definitely not very good biscuits or anything close to the kind of normal quality that can be gotten all over the South. For a place that calls itself Biscuit Head, the biscuits are shitty, simply put. I say that it is "pseudo-southern," that it poses as this authentic southern restaurant, only because they make such a big deal out of being southern themselves. It just seemed completely fake. For example: I ordered home fries and the waitress told me they didn't have any mayonnaise or ranch, which is ridiculous for an ostensibly "southern" restaurant. Many, many people eat home fries with ranch in the South. Instead, she insisted that I try out their "jam bar." I just looked at her: do you, reader, want some strawberry jelly on your home fries? I don't. And at that very moment, the waitress was setting down a plate with cole slaw on it for my girlfriend, which obviously requires plenty of mayonnaise. What kind of southern restaurant doesn't have ranch or mayonnaise (and it should/must be Duke's)? More importantly, what kind of restaurant in general doesn't have mayonnaise in the kitchen? It's laughable that they want customers to actually believe that. All in all, this restaurant felt like a kind of bad imitation of the typical southern breakfast joint. Don't waste your money. It's all hype, with no real knowledge or delivery of quality. Like everything else in Asheville now, this restaurant caters to tourists who don't know any better, and capitalizes off of a real tradition of Southern cuisine it can only imitate in an amateurish way. read more

The food was disappointingly simplistic, with no accoutrements. Biscuits were dry, and should, at minimum, have come with a small, sample sized gravy side. There was no service, apart from actually bringing the dish to your table. Having to serve myself coffee, at a restaurant, as if i were in a gas station did nothing to help. The chairs upon which we were seated, were similar to those used in an elementary school, albeit slightly smaller, and were cold, hard, steel. The ideal chair for getting people OUT of your restaurant quickly, because one could not possibly be comfortable sitting on them, I am a smallish adult, and the chairs were so small, I could only sit on the edge of my cold, steel, child sized seat. Despite having eaten my entire meal, i was left hungry once finished. Overall i would wholeheartedly recommend ANY of the countless other restaurants in the area, before embarrassing myself by recommending this one to people i like. Probably one of my favorite breakfast spots in Asheville. It's a must stop visit. Even with a line around the corner, we were able to order our food and get a seat within 30 minutes of getting in line. Their jams are a must try, the rosemary peach is my absolute favorite. Anything on the menu will be amazing. Definitely take a look at the rotating bacon, I tried the Korean BBQ and it was amazing. So excited to dive into our food we didn't even get a chance to get a picture of how good everything looked. read more

The staff seemed happy and I could even hear some cooks in the kitchen singing and appeared to be in great moods. Yes they have a wide variety of jams but as for my actual meal I thought it was going to be better. Overall, I really enjoyed the flavors of the fried chicken and the biscuit. This all comes at a great price point too. My issue here is texture. The biscuit tastes great, but it falls apart everywhere. You can't butter/jelly a biscuit. Eating a sandwich is impossible, as the biscuit falls apart and your filling goes everywhere. And its ANY two sides!!!!! Meaning you can pick two veggies or two meats or one of each! I got the fried catfish and fried chicken, all for $9, what a steal! Also added a side of one of their gravies for $2. Got the mushroom medley and it DID not disappoint. The gravy legit made everything better. Tried a few of their hot sauces, my favorite was the banana buffalo. All the flavor of buffalo with just a little heat. The biscuit was amazing. The catfish was great, big and juicy, surprisingly. Chicken was a slight let down. Fried chicken is not their strong suit. I regret not trying their sausage pattie, because it looked delish. Total was $16, including tip! Way cheaper than the Lord's chicken haha. So which location? The original on Haywood is fun to head to. Down 15 minutes to Hendersonville Road and the BH we took my brother to. Arrived at 12:20, plenty of parking and there was ONE person in line ahead of us. Pure joy! The most open (or maybe less crowded?) it doesn't stress me out. Multiple clean Ikea high chairs, plenty of room between tables, a patio area that was enclosed (hello winter). We finished our meal and oldest asked to explore. Telling him to be aware of servers carrying food I had no issue letting him check out the area. So it's up to you. If you want the nostalgia of visiting the first location and don't mind the line, head to Haywood. If you just want to try their amazing food and crowds give you anxiety, Hendersonville Road is it. read more
