Stopped in for breakfast. This is a typical diner with some counter seating. Service was very good and our meals came out in short order. My Farmers 3 egg omelette was very good and the grits and biscuit were good. Others had biscuit breakfast sandwiches and agreed that their sandwich was good. Overall - the breakfast was good - but nothing outstanding in my eyes. We got a feta/spinach omelet (+ grits) and 2 pancakes + well done bacon. Love their fried chicken. I had it once my first time there, at the end of October. I spent two months in Greenville looking for good fried chicken and all I could say is the whistle stop Café in travelers rest was very good, and gray moon, and Greenville, but I like five points the best! Not surprised to learn upon arrival that this place was absolutely packed. But it's a diner and as such, it has a counter and in my good fortune, there was a space for me. A server with a big smile took my order and before you know it, I had coffee and orange juice. I ordered the eggs benedict and the home fries and crispy bacon. It was a perfect eggs, benedict with just the right amount of lemony Hollandaise sauce. My coffee never stopped below half full. I'm a big guy and there are two other big guys to my left and my right so I have to say it was a little bit tight. But I still had plenty of room to eat. Very fair pricing there. Service was not as prompt as we observed those around us order taken sooner at the bar as we were seated and waiting. they were busy but we did feel like we were forgotten as we had to let someone know we were ready to order. Besides that once order was placed food came out fast and was very good. Waffle 5/5 so buttery! Homefries looked so good I had to try them 4/5 well seasoned just wish they were a bit more well done. Pancakes 3.8/5 I prefer waffle over pancake. Be prepared to wait weekend mornings but the line seems to move quickly. Def recommend! read more

Five Points offers a good old fashioned "diner" experience. Friendly and efficient servers. We were able to get in quickly on a very busy Friday for lunch. Timing is everything. The food was good and sitting at the counter was entertaining. The cooks were slamming and jamming. I had a chicken wrap with fries and my wife had an open face roast beef plate with apple sauce and green beans. The only downside for me personally is the place is pretty noisy. My recommendation is to go to Five Points and get there early! read more

My retired Father wanted to go for breakfast to a spot he had eaten at for many years working downtown. We arrived around 8:30am on a Sunday to find a very popular & busy spot! The benches out front were full of folks waiting on a table. We were told it'd be a 15-20 min wait & received a buzzer - stood & waited. Note that if the parking lot is full, you'll likely not get in very soon. Lots of locals walk in so it can be deceiving just glancing over the lot. Expect a short wait. Tables turn pretty quickly here. When we arrived there was one spot available. It's worth the wait if you enjoy a solid breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's an old school diner type place. If you're solo or just two of you & don't mind sitting at the counter it's a terrific spot. We were fortunate & got a booth in a short wait. Food came out VERY FAST & everything was excellent. We were only in Asheville for a short amount of time, but I am SO glad we found 5 Points for breakfast! I loved the atmosphere. Hustle and bustle and the ability to sit at the counter and enjoy everyone's hard work. My breakfast was so delicious. I enjoyed a little of everything, eggs, bacon, pancake, biscuit and potatoes. The food was fast and fresh, service was great this cute diner seemed homey and I'm pretty sure the owner was working the take out counter which you love to see. Our kids were hungry and having melt downs and the server jumped right in and took our order and the owner stepped away for a second to try to help calm the kids down. Biscuits and gravy were awesome. The potatoes were different never had them cooked that way, but definitely something I want to imitate they were awesome.
