Solid food. Ordered the popular mix biryani and it lived up the the delicious delicious hype. Flavorful, filling and enough for 2 meals! Good amount of meat, delicious sauce (should ask for extra and spicy). The chicken tikka masala didn't really do it for me- it wasn't what I was used to flavorwise. It lacked to me this silky, creamy and melt in your mouth sauce and chicken I associate with. Part I think it's cause they use white meat, and the sauce wasn't curdled, but it wasn't smooth. Also, the copious amounts of food coloring to make it that crazy red color didn't jive with me. Shrimp curry was fine, not the tastiest I've had though. their mango lassi, for $2 was THE BOMB. Tasty, creamy but not overly where it's filling. 2 things that bothered me- the ventilation in that place is nonexistent. I waited in there for my order, I regret because my clothes and yes even my skin reeled of oil. It was off putting. Second, saw one of the cooks come outside of the restaurant go to the side of the building to grab what i presume was ingredients from I think a wooden crate? You know that thing people say about hole-in-the-wall dining? It's totally true. Bismillah is easy to miss. Easy to drive right on by, and you'd be making a mistake if you do. This is hold-in-the-wall dining at its finest. A tiny food counter tucked inside a small strip that probably used to be a gas station. The environs are maybe a little gritty, and there are only a handful of worn-out seats and tables to sit. But again, make no mistake, go get some food from here, and eat it in your car if you have to. You'll find a selection of delicious known quantities on the menu: samosas, soups, gyro wraps and shawarma, kebabs and what not. If you're THAT KIND of diner, I suppose these folks will also make you hamburger. But why would you do such a thing? I had a biryani rice dish with chicken and mutton. It was deliciously spicy without being overbearingly hot. I saw a lot of foot-traffic coming into and out of this place while I was there. Among the things I saw, the chicken tikka masala looks like a total winner. And the gyro looks positively delicious. There is no soda fountain. You'll find soda, bottle water, and bottled juices in a small self-serve refrigerator next to the register. There's a ginger drink in there that is nice and tart and sharp. It is, as the man behind the counter says, "nutritious and helps digestion." That fellow seems to have a really good rapport with some of his customers. It has no curry, no onion (unless you count the onion in the side salad), and mine didn't even come with sauce--either in the dish or on the side. While the rice itself is nice and aromatic, that doesn't make the dish biryani. * Their bone-in meats (e.g. lamb, mutton) are carelessly chopped, leaving sharp-ass bone shards hidden throughout the food. After being stabbed in the palate by one of them, I had to eat the rest of my food with extreme care. * Their curries are OK, but the options with bone-in meat have the same issue with bone shards. * The restaurant is filthy and looks like something out of The Walking Dead. That being said, the food is truly amazing. My family got take-out from here and had the samosas, mutton biriyani, fish curry, and a chicken special, and loved every bit of everything. A friend of ours recommended this place off of Buford Hwy, right before the intersection of Clairmont Rd. It is hard to find, but it shares a building with Bismillah Supermarket next to QT and is on the far left side. Small parking and very limited seating inside as there is only one booth and one small table with two chairs. I would recommend getting it to-go if it's too crowded, and this place gets BUSY. A friend of ours ordered food for us, so we got the samosas, chicken shawarma, and our friend ordered this dish that had crispy shells that are served with a filling. I also tried their mango lassi that they make and package themselves! They are mentioned as one of Yelp's top 50 places. Compared to the Halal Guys down the street on Buford Hwy, their meat is marinated in this red sauce and are shredded. Mine was mixed with rice and PLENTY to eat. I was so full so fast. The mango lassi was good and not too sweet. It tasted like they actually used mango, not that artificial flavoring. They have their own green and red sauce at the tables that you can spread over your food. I definitely like their green sauce, almost looks like tzaziki sauce and it's not spicy. If you like spicy, try the red sauce. I can definitely see myself coming back again! It was delicious for a reasonable price. It doesn't look like much, it's a little hole in the wall, but they make great authentic Bengali food and are so friendly and welcoming especially to regular customers. The real definition of a hole in the wall. I honestly wouldn't have recognized the place if it wasn't for checking out a Yelp picture earlier! It's located on Buford highway, adjacent to its co-owned Bismillah Supermarket. There is a small parking lot serving both the cafe and supermarket, and since most people come for pickups, you shouldn't find an issue with parking. On the inside, the place is really small with two tables and a few more chairs. Luckily, both tables were empty and so we claimed the seats right before ordering to make sure we had the table haha. We ordered a few different biryani plates which we shared, along with samosa appetizers and mango lassi. The meat samosas were excellent! I would definitely recommend tacking one onto your order, as they were cooked to order and were loaded with meat and onion filling! The biryani came soon after and we tried the following: Chicken shawarma, Gyro, Beef, and Mutton. The biryani rice was great as it had a perfect blend of spices, was cooked well, and was garnished with parsley and cooked onions.The gyro biryani also came with a raita (yogurt type) sauce on top of the rice. While this was also tasty, I would probably order it separately next time so that I could pour it over the rice, as some of the rice became mushy while I was eating. I wasn't the biggest fan of the mutton as it was more fatty than usual, but the rest of the meats were all good. It's hard to rank them in order as they were all good, and so I would recommend you try them all! Yes, this place is a hole in the wall. Yes, there is no dining fanfare. Wow. Everything tasted great. My party was searching for something (anything) available after 10PM and we came across Bismillah Cafe on Yelp. What a gem of a find. We ordered Burgers and Fries, Hot Wings, Chicken Samosas and a roast chicken biryani platter. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Only regret is not ordering more hot wings and samosas ! The facility looks kind of like a small kitchen, and only has two booths for dining in... but it was ranked #20 out of 50 top places to eat in Atlanta, and I can see why. Food was awesome ! I had a great experience here! I heard great things about this place, and a friend of mine recommended that I stop here while in town. The outside of the place is unassuming (I ordered takeout, but I am not sure if they do indoor seating), and prices are very cheap for the quantity of food. There is range from typical American fare (burgers, wings, etc.) to Indian food (Biryani, chicken dishes, etc.). The hot wings were delicious, and I loved the Biryani. Bismillah Cafe is a tiny restaurant on Buford Highway serving Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Bengali, and halal cuisine. The food is authentic, affordably priced, and delicious. This business is a true hole in the wall and a prime example of what makes Buford Highway great. Bismillah Cafe is in the same building as Bismillah Super Market (grocery store next door), located just north of the Buford Highway-Clairmont Road intersection and before QuikTrip, on the same side of the road. The building and parking lot are dumpy. The restaurant/cafe has a separate entrance from the supermarket. Its nondescript storefront and entrance are located on the far left when facing the front of the market. Seating inside consists of one booth for four, another for two, and a couple stools at the ordering counter. Outside, there are four two-top tables on the sidewalk, the wooden chairs a mish-mash of used, worn furniture. There's also a random van bench seat. You could theoretically "dine-in" here with a small group, but seating is hard to come by during peak times. This place is divey to the max and primarily functions as a take-out joint. There is no restroom, but there is a sink. The compact open kitchen features two spits with rotating meats plus a deep fryer, stove, and flat-top griddle. The menu has a decent variety of food including appetizers like samosas, soups/stews (e.g. haleem, chatpati), wraps such as gyros and shawarmas, biryani rice plates, curry, and seafood (e.g. fried whole tilapia, rohu, and ilish/hilsa). You can order salad versions of several of the wraps, including beef kebabs, and the kitchen also serves burgers, fries, and wings. A small self-serve fridge with canned soda, bottled juices, and bottled water is located next to the counter. All food is served in/on Styrofoam boxes and plates with disposable plastic silverware. Samosas are $1 each. Wraps are anywhere from $4-7 each depending on size and combos. Biryani and curry dishes are $6-9 each depending on size. Most drinks cost a buck or less each. Credit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). Some of Bismillah Cafe's most popular and staff-recommended items include the samosas, gyro wrap, mutton biryani, and chicken tikka masala. All are terrific. The samosas are fried to order. I like Bismillah's version because the pastries' exteriors are lighter, thinner, crispier, and flakier when compared to the samosas at many other Desi restaurants. They have both meat samosas and veggie samosas. Admittedly, I don't know what meat is in Bismillah's meat samosas. It's either beef, lamb, chicken, or a mixture of all three. The meat(s) are minced and cooked with onions, lentils, and a variety of savory spices. There's a bottle of house samosa sauce (chutney, deep red/brown in color) floating around. I think the samosas are tasty enough on their own to not require much, if any, sauce. Watch out because these things are served hot and fresh from the fryer. I am impressed with Bismillah's gyro meat. Sliced and served thin off the spit, the pieces of meat have an ever so slight appetizing and crisp outer texture to them. It's like the slices of meat have been fried for an extra bit before they go into the wrap. Other ingredients include shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, and a healthy dousing of yogurt sauce all wrapped in soft, warm, pita bread from the market next door. The gyro here is outstanding and among the best I've tried in metro Atlanta. The meat is what shines brightest. The mutton biryani is fantastic. The slices of mutton are flavorful and succulent, no gaminess whatsoever. The basmati rice is fluffy, nicely spiced, and aromatic. The spice mixture includes cloves (there are little bits of clove in the rice) and I believe nutmeg and cardamom too. Other ingredients in the rice include fried shallots and fresh cilantro. There's also a side of raw, chopped white onion, cucumber, and tomato. The chicken tikka masala is very good. It is one of several boneless meat dishes Bismillah serves which include chicken curry and fish curry. The chunks of chicken are lean, meaty, and sufficiently tender. I'm a big fan of the rich and creamy (also a little bit oily) chicken tikka masala sauce which is robust and flavorful. It's just delectably mouthwatering and and goes great with both the chicken and accompanying side of lightly spiced (with cloves and other spices) basmati rice. Service is good. The staff I've encountered have been friendly and helpful. Orders are cooked up quick and in a reasonable amount of time when there's a line. Overall, Bismillah is a solid choice when it comes to South Asian food in terms of price (excellent value), taste (comforting), and convenience (fast). read more

This is one of those places that you shouldn't judge a book by its covers. It will be near a dingy little market in a dim ish area that will give you second thoughts. This is a super popular place though as folks were going in and out with to-go orders. The most hole in the wall place has the best food. The maximum occupancy is like 10 to 12 so don't expect to dine here. lol. They have Bangladesh, Indian, and Halal type choices to pick from so happy eating. The cafe is next to the market and is extremely small (like the size of a bed room). There is a table for 4 and a table for 2 and that's all the seating there is. I feel ripped off and I like that place. Mediterranean Grill gives some extra tzatziki sauce and hot sauce though. Order the food to go because you might get robbed sitting outside. Decor Tiny. I love Bismillah and have been coming here for years. Try their mixed grill shawarma biryani, it is my favorite dish here. Their biryanis is mixed with lamb and chicken and topped with a secret sauce. The serving is plentiful. WOW, do not underestimate this place. Recently, one of my Bengali friends recommended this place to me. I drive past it all the time, barely recognizing it. Absolutely, one of the best hole in the wall joints. This place is more of a to-go place. If you are lucky, you may be able to sit at one of the two tables there. My boyfriend & I decided to order the medium chicken biriyani & the medium Sharma chicken biriyani. I prefer the Sharma chicken biriyani because it has a spicy kick to it. Both meals are delicious though! You won't regret trying this place. The green sauce is also highly addicting. This place is way better than the Halah guys, puts them to shame. If I could only recommend one place to eat in Atlanta, it would be Bismillah. This was one of the first places my boyfriend took me out to, so this review is a long time coming and well-earned many times over. The first time he brought me here, I was very skeptical. From the outside, this little restaurant doesn't look like much. It's the definition of "little hole in the wall" and it is a genuine diamond in the rough. The food is amazing. We've only ever eaten the mixed biriyani, always with extra red and white sauce--my boyfriend's order and what we've always gotten. But wow, just wow--it is SO good. The food is always hot and fresh, and they work so quickly! It's truly some kind of art form. Every time we come, we'll order about 10 minutes ahead, and it's ready for us almost precisely on the dot every time. The portions are plenty big and we usually have leftovers for a nice lunch the next day. I'm happy this little joint always seems busy, too. It's not a good sit-in place because it's quite cramped inside, but I honestly don't care. I was going to wait until my conversation was over to eat it but I took one bite and was hooked. The lamb schwarma was cut fresh when I ordered it. It's mixed up in soft rice and has delicious spices. I added a spicy sauce to it and it was even better! I was surprised that samosas cost only a dollar for one! It is quite good but not fresh. I ordered and got it right away from where it sat under a heat lamp. It would be better if the batter was less thick, actually. However, for one dollar, it satisfied my potato craving.
