Hot garbage. Ordered take out. The grilled prawns literally looked they were thrown into the togo box. The garlic butter was not closed properly, crushed, and spilled all over the bag. The only napkins we got were the thin papery ones that come with the togo plastic cutlery. They didn't absorb any of the spilled sauce. The prawns were rubbery and tasted like they were burnt (not lightly charred). The cavatelli looked good, but was overcooked, mushy and had zero flavor. The Pat LaFrieda sausage was bland as hell. Came here for a business lunch. I had a reservation for 12 pm. Arrived at 11:40 am. There was no one to greet me. Spotted a cook but he said they don't start serving until 12. I worked at the bar until then. We had meatballs and rice balls for appetizer and the eggplant Parm and mixed salad with chicken for entrees Meatballs were delicious. Eggplant park was ok. First of all - absolutely anything on the menu can be made gluten free. And it's delicious! I came here with a friend who is gluten free and we both had delicious meals. We split the tiramisu for dessert (adjusted to be gluten free) and it was delicious. They have a lunch price fixe menu for $25.99 with a glass of wine, entree, and appetizer - an amazing deal. DEFINITELY going back! In terms of COVID- Outdoor dining is a 3-walled structure with a roof, with the tables inside. There's one open side, but in a lot of ways it feels a bit like indoor dining, but we went around 3:30pm and basically had the place to ourselves. Stopped in for lunch upon arrival to NYC why we waited for our room at the Bernic. My wife is gluten-free so it's difficult at times to find good choices, especially in Italian food. This place did not disappoint. Everything on the menu can be prepared GF. I had eggplant parm and my wife had penne pasta with eggplant and marinara sauce. They actually promote GF options with it being highlighted in BOLD at the bottom of the menu so that everything on the menu can be prepared GF. This cozy spot is next to my hotel. Very sweet and attentive waitstaff. They start with a bread and hummus offering. BF's mom was in town for town and was staying around E51st. I looked around the area for a nice spot for us to grab dinner and settled on Bistango. Making reservations on OpenTable was super easy and when her flight was delayed, I was able to move it 30 minutes back via the app with no problem. We ended up only needing an extra 10 minutes, but by then it was too late. They have a nice fish tank in the lobby as well as plushy couches to sit on while you wait for your table though, so it ended up not being so bad. We were offered a drink menu while waiting as well. Once we were seated, our waitress came over right away and introduced herself and offered us water. We did have to ask for bread though, after we ordered. We both had their arugula salad and the butternut squash ravioli. Both were really good and I definitely cleared my plate. We opted out of dessert but had tea and coffee after dinner. The prices are about what we had expected for the area, so the bill wasn't awful, but it wasn't exactly cheap either. However, if you're in the area and need a nice and quiet place for dinner, I'd recommend Bistango! read more

The first question asked by waitstaff was if there were any allergies. Being gluten and dairy free, I greatly appreciated this! The menu was easy to navigate and I had so many options. Chose the eggplant ravioli with marinara sauce, and it did not disappoint. So delicious. Their gluten free bread was awesome too, and was served with olive oil and garlic. The place is a solid performer with decent service and being able to accommodate the dietary restrictions for some of our group. Came here during a company lunch and it was so delicious. We came here on a Thursday around 11/12 and the place was relatively empty. There's a rooftop bar but we didn't get a chance to go. We ordered several appetizers for the table and a personal favorite of mine were the rice balls that were seated in a plate of marinara sauce. For the entree I had the lobster ravioli and for dessert I had the tiramisu. I also had a bite of my friends chocolate lava cake and it was sublime. For me if is not the best is one of the best restaurants in the area. Great food, well presented with generous quantity's. Very friendly service with balance drinks. I was blown away! Not only are the prices great for Midtown, but the menu has plenty of options. Your first brunch cocktail is $4 with purchase of an entree, so I chose the Bloody Mary. There was the perfect amount of spice with horseradish and it was very refreshing. Before our meal they gave us a plate of bread and hummus to dip. Yum!! I ordered the Bistango Benny and was in heaven. Poached eggs and crispy prosciutto on a bed of polenta with rosemary hollandaise and a side of potatoes. I went with the red snapper that was lightly baked in parchment with lemon, basil, and thinly sliced red onions and potatoes. The delicate fish was subtly seasoned and well prepared. My friends and I dined for dinner and the staff were so nice and attentive it was an amazing experience. Hatsboff to them. The menu was relatively small but I found exactly what I wanted. All items are impeccably presented in a timely, not rushed manner. The waiters went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable, but not to the point of annoying while you're in the middle of a dish. Portions are not huge and I would dare to say just the right size. I always prefer to leave a restaurant with a good feeling and not so stuffed I can barely walk. It was quiet inside which was great since were dining with friends we had not seen in years. Acoustically the location is partitioned in a manner to increase privacy and keep noise level way down. A friend and I came to Bistango for dinner. We hadn't seen each-other in several years and we're looking forward to a leisurely dinner to catch up over. First when we arrived our reservation was not in the system in spite of my confirming it via text the day before. Fortunately it was early enough that it was a non issue. We had the option to sit inside or outside and we opted for outside since it was a pleasant temperature. Within a few minutes of being outside it was clear that we had made a mistake because when the wind changed a very pungent sewage aroma filled the air. Simultaneously my friend attempted to order a drink-- they were out of it, he then ordered another drink and they were out of that. By this time we had been seated for about 15 minutes and the sewage was becoming unbearable to we asked to move to a table inside. After checking with the manager we were escorted to a table inside (of the empty restaurant). At this point we thought the evening has had a nice reboot, the restaurant had the third drink my friend ordered and we were on our way.... And then we noticed the gnats. In our wines, on the wall, on our plates and no matter how many we killed (or how many died in our wine glasses) they did not stop coming. We were literally swatting the entire meal. I am generally a pretty easy going person but this time when the staff checked on us to ask how things were going there was no strength left to smile and say "everything's great" because we were killing gnats. I think we each killed at least 10, 5 died in our wine, and we couldn't catch the others. Though the food we ate was tasty the experience was pretty much the worst one I've ever had. It was definitely not the leisurely catch up we were going for but more of a "shovel good into your mouth as fast as possible so we can leave". We actually had a debate as to whether it was better to stay outside or if our move inside was the right call. Thankfully we were not charged for the untouched glasses of wine with dead gnats (though we were almost charged for the beer that they were out of). read more

As anyone who is interested in my reviews can see, I am generally generous in my compliments and light in my criticisms. We ordered drinks and appetizers, 2 of the four of us ordered the night's seafood special offering, plus a beef dish and one chicken and usually I would detail better exactly what we had, but my memories of the night - - the thing that overshadowed the food - - was being asked to leave. Our quiet party of 4, 2 middle-aged parents and two 30 year old "kids", having finished our meal, having paid our more than $300 tab was sitting and visiting in a 1/2 empty place, it being mid-week and nearing 9 pm. With 1 empty table to our left and 4 (maybe 5) to our right along the wall, plus a few scattered tables in the interior, we were shocked when out waitress approached us about 15-20 minutes after paying our bill and said, "We have people waiting for this table, so if you're finished....." It was weird, since very obviously NO ONE was waiting. Like obedient and chastised children, having been put on blast, embarrassed, but not quite sure what we'd done wrong, we quickly left. One of those things where we were all too shocked and unprepared to respond and it wasn't until we all got in the Uber and were like, what? Did we just get asked to leave??? I mean wow, wow, wow. Wish I'd not been so stunned, so I could have just asked, my goodness, are you kidding? Huh? I get it - - do not camp out on tables at busy times when others are waiting. It's not the library. If you're not ordering, it's unfair to sit and chat. But we were 15-20 minutes after paying our bill with at least 1/2 dozen or more tables empty around us at least an hour or more before closing time. #rude #insulting #WUT? #????? Bistango is restaurant on the ground floor of the Kimberly Hotel in Midtown East. I ordered the Roasted Wild Mushrooms Flatbread through Mealpal and had a great experience! For starters, when I arrived at 1pm during the 1pm-1:15pm pick-up I had scheduled, my order was already ready and bagged to go. This was to my surprise, as most of my orders via Mealpal have resulted in me waiting a few minutes before my order was ready. Secondly, when I got back to my desk to eat my Flatbread, the aroma of the truffle oil was so strong and delicious that my coworkers were intrigued and kept asking me where my lunch was from. The flatbread was a rather large size, so I gladly shared. I really enjoyed how they didn't skimp out on the mushrooms. You could tell that the mushrooms were fresh and were thick-cut and abundant. However, what I didn't really like as much was the chewiness of the pizza dough. It was a bit soggy for my liking. Absolutely delicious, so happy we discovered Bistango! You can order anything here as is, or as gluten-free. My husband and I shared one of the gluten free flatbread pizzas, which was very good. For lunch my husband had the gluten free lasagna, while I had the butternut squash ravioli. If you are craving something sweet and salty at the same time, I'd recommend going for the ravioli. I didn't try the lasagna, but my husband said it's the best gluten free lasagna he's ever had. Before our appetizer, they even brought out gluten free bread for him with his own little hummus dish. Very nice Italian Restaurant in NYC. Every year we visit NYC and stay at the Kimberly. Bistango is attached. We always end up eating here for at least one of our meals. The food is very good. Recently, unbeknownst to me, we found out that they serve breakfast and brunch (on Sunday). What a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was outstanding. Service a bit slow, but that is really not too unusual for NYC where speed and attentiveness is not coming even in the most elite food establishments. Do not make a reservation on Yelp because they will claim your reservation never existed. But actually, don't make a reservation here generally because this was an abysmal experience from top to bottom. After sitting in a bizarre hotel lobby waiting for a table that never came, they smashed a vase nearby, placed us outside (in December) by the rubbish bins, and then a dumpster dropped nearby causing us to literally SCREAM. We finally took the hint and left before ordering. A full blown comedy of errors. Don't do it to yourself! Your peace is worth more. read more

I was in NYC for a large conference and went to Bistango with 7 other people with gluten allergies or Celiac's. We all had the meal of our lives! Delicious bread. Tons of options. (I had lobster ravioli - yes, actual ravioli and not pre-made penne noodles with some deconstructed ingredients). The GF desserts were also plentiful. Not just ice cream or creme brulee, but actual cakes, tarts, and full-flavor ingredients. I had a slice of carrot cake that was moist and covered in perfect cream cheese frosting. The waiter told me they have two different kitchens for their gluten free food. I had gluten free bread, appetizers, pasta (Pappardelle!), and dessert! We had arancini rice balls and the tiger prawns for an app which were amazing. Rice balls are hard to find and even my fiancé was raving about how great they were! For dinner I had the pappardelle which was gluten free and my fiancé got a gluten free linguine and clams to share with me (so sweet!). Ive never seen homemade gluten free pappardelle pasta before at a restaurant so it was definitely a treat. The carrot cake and lava cake (both gluten free) were great! Bistango is located in the Kimberly Hotel, on 50th between lex and 3rd. I came here to grab dinner after work during the week, and it was somewhat slow with not many people dinning, but the location is great and elegant. The menu consists of various different flatbreads, as well as a lot of pasta options. What is great is that they have gluten free pasta options, and vegan options . My gf and I went here because of this. They served us humus and oil with bread to start, with again, the option of having gluten free bread. We both got pastas for dinner, and they were very well prepared. The linguini with clams had a lot more clams then I expected, and the white wine sauce was great. I would recommend getting pasta here as it seems that is what they specialize in. Things are priced in-between $20-$30. read more
