For my four year Anniversary milestone, I already had my mind made up in advance to celebrate at this very restaurant. Couple of factors that influenced me was the opportunity to be immersed in the Highland Park neighborhood while enjoying dinner at an upscale restaurant and of-course dining on fabulous cuisines. Although I was late for my reservervation due to work related matters, upon arrival, the hostess greeted me with the utmost warmth and cheerful attitude which was appreciated and led us to a beautiful table overlooking the dining room. Once we sat down, I quickly noticed how beautiful and enchanting the restaurant looked. Walls were adorned with beautiful art pieces and the ceiling was draped with glass chandeliers which add to it's charm. I felt taken away as if being in southern France. Ironically our server came by to greet us in a seemingly european accent and proceeded to take our wine order and went over the daily fish and entree specials. Despite the delicious and memorable descriptions, i already had my mind made up. For entrees, i ordered the Tagliolini pasta which incidentally had all my favorites including wild mushrooms, sirloin steak , hand cured pancetta and goat cheese. It paired nicely with the Merriman Pinot which by admission, i had several of. Moreover, despite being on a low carb diet, i just couldnt resist the delicious warm sourdough bread and butter which teased me endlessly which i graviously succumb to! Service was absolute perfection. We had numerous visits from both the service and management staff alike ensuring we were enjoying our anniversary dinner. The high point of the evening was when they served their signature house dessert accompanied by sparklers which was a classy touch! Needless to say, we were blown away by the gesture. Brunch at Bistro 31 is okay. The vibe is very "snooty highland park" which is to be expected. The prices are moderate, which is surprising. But the menu and the actual food are both just fine. If you need to impress out of town friends with a last minute brunch reservation, go to Bistro 31, take them shopping around Highland Park Village, then hit Honor Bar. The most memorable part will not be brunch. read more

My wife and I love French food and Bistro 31 is a hidden gem! The tables are packed close and has a French bistro feel to it. We felt like we were back in Paris! The food is amazing and priced fairly. The staff is very attentive but a little too attentive for my liking. read more

Where do I begin? In theory I could want to withhold a star for the fact I felt like second fiddle to my son, but that in itself should bring this up to six! Stephen, our server, is an absolute gem. Menu suggestions were on point, a mocktail the size of my sons head served, and helping to keep a young grade schooler content so mom and dad have an equally enjoyable experience in a place not geared for most kids (full disclosure before you rush in with your kiddos, our guy is a bit of an anomaly with dining out). We dined on the burrata watermelon salad (with balsamic reduction added as suggested), the seasonal soup - cucumber pea gazpacho with the slightest hint of (cayenne?) spice that left a nice tingle mouth feel, lobster bisque so creamy the spoon might stand in it (in a good way!), octopus salad, some raw fish I didn't eat but my husband loved, and a crime brûlée with the perfect crust and a touch of raspberry at the bottom which was a delightful surprise. Suburban life and Covid isolation have dulled my dining expectations to good food and polite service. Thank you Stephen and Bistro 31 for reminding me that a meal out is an experience to be SAVORED, both for the palate and the mindset! Counting the days till my next Dallas outing so I can get my hands on that Carpaccio! read more

I had a wonderful business dinner here with an amazing client. The service was awesome and the food was exceptional. I ordered the filet and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Dover Sol was amazing and the presentation was impressive. This is fine dining worthy of the Dallas food scene. read more

We showed up an hour and a half early for our reservation on a packed and cold Friday night. The General Manager Michael smiled like we were doing him a favor by coming early. He squeezed us into a cute table by the window. The meal and the service were excellent, the wine was amazing. I am only sorry that we were too full for dessert. I am not in Dallas often, but am already looking forward to my next visit, which will certainly include a return to Bistro 31! read more

I've been coming to lounge 31 for the last 4 years and the girls they have working now are absolutely low tier. I tried to pay the rest of my tab and the girl tried to get us "blacklisted" I asked her for a receipt of our tab to see what the rest of the charge was for and she made us leave, asked her manager to "never let us in again" because I asked for a receipt. I don't wanna talk to the assistant manager I want to talk to the founder and main manager of the institution. Fed up with the behavior of HP village at this rate. read more

We stopped by without a reservation on a busy Saturday evening and were seated quickly and without issue. We had amazing service throughout our meal by all the staff. The food was absolutely amazing. The octopus and lobster bisque were some of the best we've ever tried and the desserts prepared by the pastry chef, Nancy were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back when we are in Dallas again. read more

Bistro is absolutely wonderful!! The best! I've been dining there for several years and when it came time to plan a venue for a wedding reception/dinner, Bistro 31 was the obvious choice. Manager Michael, Event planner Marquee, and my party's personal "director" Stephen made certain that our celebration evening was flawlessly executed. To welcome our guests upstairs, yummy appetizers and Prosecco were served. I had provided gold sanding sugar to rim the flutes and Stephen made certain they were exactly as requested. Our low cocktail tables had candles and my bridal bouquet was in place when our guests arrived. After about 45 minutes, Stephen then directed us all downstairs to our reserved tables. It was stunningly set just as I had discussed with Marquee the month before. I provided linen napkins, napkin rings, candles, and Place cards with a seating chart. Marquee had set up a meeting with a florist, Cynthia, to do the centerpieces. They were both fabulous to work with from start to finish. I was delighted to walk in from my wedding ceremony to see it all come together. Now.... the food!!!! Wow!!! Was it ever awesome!!!!! Our guests were singing chef's praises the entire evening. Delivery, temperature, etc.. was all perfection. Lobster bisque and salad for starters... then entrees. Some had the chicken ... OH MY SOUL. 3 of us had it because Stephen said it was his favorite thing on the menu. Of all the times I've eaten at Bistro, I've never ordered the chicken. I've been missing OUT! Thank you, Stephen for the great advice. It's just unbelievable. So moist, perfectly seasoned. Like no chicken you've ever tasted anywhere. Some guests had steak, others had fish. Rave reviews from everyone. On everything. Wine service was exactly as we had planned with Michael earlier. By about 8 pm, every seat in the entire place was taken and the noise level had reached fever pitch. However, Stephen's % attention to our tables, made it seem like we were the only guests in the house. When it came time for us to cut our wedding cake, Stephen was right by our side to assist. ( Michael and Marquee had given me the name of the most fabulous pastry chef.... Arielle's Pastryworks. Wowzer!!! She is a Star!) Stephen even took great pictures of us while we were exchanging bites, as our photographer was already gone. One of the many highlights of our special evening, was a surprise visit from Mr. Lombardi, Bistro's owner. He shared cake and champagne with us and our guests. What a great way to end a perfect evening. On Sunday, we went by to gather our "stuff" and the rest of the wedding cake ; Stephen had everything cleaned, boxed and waiting by the door. He had even boxed the remainder of our cake and refrigerated it overnight. Then, he loaded it all into our car. No where else I know of offers this level of true personal caring service. Kudos to Michael, Marquee, the entire staff, and especially Stephen at Bistro 31 for an extra special night to remember. You guys are simply the best! Love to you all!!!! read more

Great service and very clean and organized restaurant but the tiny fettuccini pasta that costs $40 couldn't fill up a 5 year old. The food was very generic and quite bland. I could've bought a better tasting pasta for less than half the price all over DFW. read more

First time coming here and will definitely be back! The food was excellent. Their pastas were super good and they cooked our steak to perfection. The staff was great as well. Ken was our waiter and I would definitely recommend asking for him. He was super attentive and we came for our birthday and he came out with two deserts at the end for us! This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants! read more

WONDERFUL! We hosted a bridal brunch here and I couldn't be happier. All the food here is good. Try the tuna with avocado and mango to start. To drink you have to order the Bistro 31. Their signature drink is lip-smacking good. Service was impeccable. Of course we gals, all dressed to the nines, drinking and noshing, and snapping pics, and opening gifts were quite a handful. But the servers did a terrific job taking care of us. Ray and his team were a huge help. He made sure all the little details were taken care of: like the side table for purses and gifts and the perfect balance of menu options and the constant refill on our drinks. We all had such a great meal and such a great time. Thanks to Bistro 31. read more

I've been here many times, but after my most recent dinner I feel compelled to write a review. One simply cannot go wrong with Bistro 31. The food is always solid, but more than that, the service is always friendly, very polished, and attentive; and the manager, Michael, charmingly works the room. I just simply adore this place!!!! Came in for a late lunch on a Saturday and as always not disappointed. My only regret is that I came in late a missed the lunch menu. Was really looking forward to their lobsters salad. Oh well! Instead had the Spaghetti Chitarra with Lobster Bolognes... what a treat!!! My husband had the Tomato bisque soup and the Chopped salad with shrimp, it looked delish. For dessert we split the Pear and Mascarpone Tart, Blueberry Compote, Pecan Crumble with Vanilla Gelato. Absolutely love this place for being what it is. Mature, authentic, stellar and delicious all while being very approachable. Old school in many ways and that's a great thing. Fantastic cocktails all your classic favorites, excellent wines. This isn't a cheap restaurant so expect to spend a few bucks. The beef carpaccio appetizer is quite good for an appetizer, the burrata salad is a great shareable it's so flavorful and fresh with the amazing marinaded heirloom tomatoes, cheese and olive oil. I had the honey glazed carrots and tried the roasted Brussels, both excellent. Grilled salmon and the risotto are fantastic choices and highly recommended. Valet parking is right in front next to The Honor bar, simple as it gets. Spend some time shopping in the world class village before or after. All the top brands you'd expect from Somewhere like Highland Park. Situated in a beautifully maintained outdoor space. read more

Came here for Saturday brunch after Thanksgiving and it was only about 1/3 full at 12:30pm. Sat on the lovely patio and had absolutely superb service. We were checked on multiple times by staff and management, which was appreciated since we had a group of 8. The food is phenomenal, but could use a little perking up on the presentation. Fantastic menu with a chef who clearly knows how to combine flavors. We were offered a croissant basket and I'm so glad we gave in, because the croissants were AMAZING, especially the almond one. Solid, foamy cappuccino. Pasta specials were a bit pricey considering the time of day, but high-quality ingredients justified the price (scallops, crab, etc). The brunch menu itself was $12-19/item, which seemed reasonable for such a nice restaurant located in Highland Park Village. I ordered the salmon benedict, which had beautiful, purple beet-marinated smoked salmon. Superb alternative to the utterly blah Mi Cocina (which had a line out the door for some reason). Their cocktails are overpriced though. $19 for a Maker's Mark cocktail? I'll have water.. read more

We went to dinner here for a friend's birthday. He lives in Highland Park and likes to eat at HP Village since it is local for him. We have come here several times in the past. The dinner was delicious. The staff was very attentive. My wife had the Bistro Salad and I had the Chopped Salad to start. Both were very tasty. My wife elected to the Salmon Risotto that was off the menu. I tried the Roasted All Natural Chicken. Both were very tasty but not too overwhelming in richness given that this is French food. The flavors were light and delicate. We finished off with Desserts which included Nutella Tiramasu and Pear and Mascarpone Tart. It was very tasty but not too sweet. We all paired our dinners with a glass of wine and the Wine List is more than adequate. The great thing about having dinner at this place is that you can upstairs and have drinks in a lounge environment. There is music playing. Some folks are having drinks while others are have sushi. You will probably run into someone you know there.... It is great price point for HP Village. Will most definitely come back again. read more

It is not one single item that was not perfect during our visit to Bistro 31. The maître d' was efficient, kind, and knowledgeable. Our waiter, Erwin, spoiled us rotten with recommendations for drinks, appetizers, and main entrées. Goodness, I cannot even say how special we found our visit to be. Every delicious nuance and attention to detail was provided. We had a variety of foods and enjoyed all of them. The staff and management were in top form. I am probably very biased here because this has been one of my favorite restaurants since moving to Dallas in 2013 . The manager , Michael basically got us hooked at the first 'hello, welcome in!' in 2013 . Every time we go there, it's like going to Michael's home to dine. That aside, the food is delicious and obviously, with Michael and his team, the service is awesome! Five stars!! read more

The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.

You know what I'm talking about if you've been going to Highland Park Village as long as I have (not to sound too elitist or anything, don't get the wrong idea). But this is a great social spot that feels concurrently open and intimate. The covered patio is primo real estate for brunch, and the main dining area is perfect for just about anything else. The waitstaff is not accommodating in the traditional sense; they go above and beyond to the point where it feels like they researched who you are when you made a reservation in order to better serve you. It might be a bit much, but if you're game, so are they. The cuisine is on the upper echelon side of the kitchen. They don't need to disguise the flavor with copious amounts of sodium, so kudos there! Overall, the dishes are deeply satisfying without beating you over the head with how clean and well-rounded they are. Just wanted to share my experience with the Company. What basically happened I left my job, where I've already been employed to start training at Bisto 31. I was on and off training for 10 days and then the management told me they'd call me, but nobody called for another 6 days. Overall I've spent more than 2 weeks with no income. I've also experienced this situation when on training. Stephen, the server, who seemed to be upmost respected by the clientele and team, out of a sudden unexcitingly for me at all had an anger attack and screamed at me heavily. At that moment, when he was screaming, he seemed to me that he looked as he was going through heavy withdrawals and was not feeling ok. As far as I've understood the management treated that as if it was a good norm, as noone apologized or made a comment on that as if it was very normal there. Tolerating this behavior as a norm by the Company of Alberto Lombardi, and blocking the opportunities of young and ambitious immigrants, is very interesting... My mother died, in Eastern Europe there is a war and I have nobody here being with no help and no support very easy can find myself homeless. I recently enjoyed a delightful Christmas Eve luncheon at Bistro 31 in Dallas, and it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of my meal was the Dover sole, which was nothing short of superb. We had an extremely disappointing and humiliating experience at Bistro 31. After dining at the restaurant, one of the staff members recommended that we visit the bar upstairs. We initially approached the wrong entrance, where a security employee told us he could let us through in exchange for money. We offered $20, but he demanded $40. We refused, took the money back, and went to the main entrance. At the main entrance, we were treated disrespectfully and were ultimately denied entry without any clear or reasonable explanation. The entire situation felt unprofessional, discriminatory, and completely inconsistent with the level of service we had previously experienced at the restaurant. The hostess came back after some time and apologized that she forgot to hand us our menus. Our waitress didn't seem to have much personality. Not friendly, not terribly informative and generally no nonsense. BORING. Bread Service was just "ok." The fancy butter was much better than the bread that was made across the street at bread club. I can't remember a single dish being outstanding. We ordered the crudo, beet salad, croquette, crystal shrimp, pork dish, orchiette pasta dish - all "meh." The one thing that I do remember is ordering the branzino and finding several fish bones present. Any single one of these miscues should be enough to tell you that this is not a Michelin one-star worthy restaurant. The only positive things I recall about the experience was that the cocktail was very good and that the manager was amusing with his anecdotes about being a personal chef for Novak Djokovic. But the thing that makes me most upset is paying good money with the expectation that this is going to be a fantastic meal, only to leave extremely disappointed and angry. I don't think anyone in my dinner party felt that this was a memorable experience from a Michelin star restaurant, and all three of us have dined previously at several Michelin star restaurants. There is a lot of room for improvement. We shall wait to see whether the Michelin guide will uphold this rating after a year goes by.

The decor was perfect - almost old style Italian. The live entertainment was a guy playing the classic guitar and he was super. The food was not bad at all. So you have to understand that no one cooks as good as I do or my sister; the food coming out of our kitchens is what we grew up with. That's why most of the time we do not go out for Italian food, but with that in mind, for this place, the food was good. So now for my recommendations: bread should come with the meal complementary PERIOD! When the bill came we were shocked to see we were charged for 2 orders of bread. Yes the bread was elevated- a very delicious garlic type of bread with some Parmesan melted on top but that's not what we wanted. We wanted basic bread that you sop up all the sauce with. All the waiter said was "bred for the table?", so we were not expecting the garlic bread. But if you do order it from the starter section, I will say it was fantastic. Also, please carefully read the menu; many items that usually come with your entrée appear to be à la carte, for example we were charged over 80 bucks for six salads. Apparently they did not come with the entrée, however, when the waiter came around to take our orders, we gave the entrée name and then he asked "super or salad?". That would lead one to believe that that came with the meal, but apparently it did not. Also, when we ordered the calamari appetizer, he brought two orders. We found this out when the bill came. For a party of six, we had four cocktails, one iced tea and one water, six entrées plus the bread we had to pay for and six salads. We did NOT order coffee, after dinner drinks, extra wine or dessert. The bill was over $500. The waiter had added a 22% tip. Yes I understand for large parties tip gets automatically added, on but he was not worth 22% and now I am gonna get into that. My brother-in-law was the designated driver. He was not drinking. He had his whole family in his vehicle so no, he did not want to get into an accident. He ordered an iced tea half sweet the waiter gave him a difficult time mostly because he didn't order a cocktail and it became embarrassing. So overall ambience five stars; Food three and a half stars ; Service three stars-I don't like having to pay 22% gratuity for a smart mouth.
