We went some friends here and had a great time! I got the burger which has a kind of sauce poured over it. The sauce makes it hard to eat like a normal burger. Unless you are trying to get really messy it's easiest to eat it with a fork and knife. However the burger was very tasty and I would order it again. Everyone else seemed to like their food! Parking in this shopping area can be a little tough and we had to walk a little bit just an fyi I would recommend and come back!

Had a great meal at Frenchie in Dallas. We started with the bread and cheese puffs, which were perfect for sharing. I had the branzino for my main, it was cooked just right and full of flavor. The service was really nice and attentive. Plus, they surprised our birthday guy with free birthday treats, which was a sweet touch. If you're looking for tasty dishes and a welcoming spot in Dallas, Frenchie is definitely worth checking out.

I had the opportunity to visit Frenchie for the first time recently and had a pretty good time at dinner with my friends. Frenchie as been on my list for a while and I was excited to check it out. The interior was very chic, polished and clean. It looks like a great place for brunch or lunch as well! We were a large group of about 8 girls and we were able to easily make a reservation, get a large table to accommodate us, and pay with separate checks. For drinks, everyone ordered a variety of cocktails and wine, including the Frozen Espresso Martini, which was the best! I asked our waiter for a mocktail recommendation and he suggested the Pasteque Cooler. I am a fan of fruity drinks and unfortunately, this one did not hit the spot. It is made with lime, watermelon and cucumber, and all I could taste was the cucumber, it was not sweet at all. However, I would love to try the Frozen Espresso Martini during my next visit! For appetizers, we spilt the French Bread & Butter and the Gougéres. The bread and butter was a classic French baguette and was actually a little dry, but the butter was excellent. The Gougéres are cheese puffs and were actually very light and tasty. For our entrees, I ordered the Cajun Salad and everyone else ordered either the Beef Tartare or the Steak Frites. Our waiter told us the chicken was overrated, however, I actually really enjoyed the blackened chicken in my Cajun Salad! It came with the blackened chicken on top of lettuce, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers, all topped with Dijon mustard dressing. It was a light but delicious salad the the blackened chicken was actually my favorite food of the night. My friends enjoyed the Beef Tartare and Steak Frites as well. They said both were good, but smaller portions than expected. Overall, it was a pretty good experience and I would be interested in returning for brunch or lunch instead. I definitely want to try the Frozen Espresso Martini and check out their dessert menu. I could tell the staff was still working out some kinks, as it is a new restaurant. I hope to see how this place develops in the future. I plan to give it some time and hope to be back pretty soon. Thank you so much!

Stopped in for a happy hour drink and they let us sit at a small booth, which was nice and comfortable. Had a nice glass of wine and finished up as the dinner crowd was starting to roll in. Seemed like a very nice restaurant, we'll have to come back for dinner.

Service is what you could improve upon. I was in for a third time for lunch. Our server was nice & I complimented her earrings. We had Gruyère mushroom burgers, fries (always good), & pavlova. Problem was she utterly abandon us after food was served. No beverage refresh, no requested mustard ever showed up. No help at all. She finally showed up to give us the check. There were 4 tables occupied, not a busy lunch time. What gives?

Great new french restaurant in Preston Center! I made a resy and came with a friend for dinner. We were greeted and seated pretty quickly. The ambiance is lively, and very cute. French bistro vibes, not too formal and not too casual. It's definitely on the louder side, not a place for a quiet intimate date. The menu has something for everyone's taste. Greta cocktail and drink menu as well. What we ordered: 1. salmon carpaccio- very good, my fave. 2. chilled shrimp and avocado- the sauce was a little too much, creamy and not your typical shrimp cocktail. 3. steak frites- came out a little over cooked. 4. beef tartare- large portion, yummy. 5. broccoli rabe- cooked perfectly. 6. raspberry and strawberry sorbet- so good! Our server was friendly and attentive. I would love to come back and try other dishes soon.

Finally tried this cute, newer place which has only been open a few months, I think? The decor is beautiful and it's in a prime location with plenty of shopping nearby. With that said, there's obviously still some kinks to work out but this place has loads of potential. We came early ~8am and there was plenty of seating available so we could sit anywhere. We ordered a few things for the table to try and the big hits were the croissant and the Avocado toast. They bake everything in house and I would for sure come back for more pastries. The rest of the food took a little bit longer and was pretty standard. I was slightly concerned that the fire alarm went off twice (with the first one being for at least a few minutes). It would've been nice to have some acknowledgement from the staff as everyone wasn't sure if we were supposed to evacuate or stay seated or what. I did the latter in hopes it was a test but communication is always key. The drinks definitely took longer. I love love love that the barista checked in on how my matcha was since he hasn't had to make many and it was delicious. More importantly, it shows how eager the staff is to keep improving. I will definitely be back to try it again and to try some more items!

Nice upscale restaurant with ample parking. Its slightly pricey for what it offers, but the flavors are not bad. I would recommend the fish they serve, theres no carbs with the dish so they would suggest you add a side.

    Burger Au Poivre

Had dinner here last night. Overall, a good experience--but there are still a few kinks to work out. That said, I'm stoked to come back in a month or so and see how things have progressed. For reference: two people, two drinks each, two apps, a burger, and a Cajun chicken entrée came out to $200 after tax and tip. That's pretty standard for Dallas, but at $100 a head for upscale casual dining, I do have certain expectations--especially when it comes to consistency and quality. We started with the salmon crudo and the escargot. The salmon was excellent--fresh, bright, well-balanced. The escargot, on the other hand, could've used more garlic to really stand out. For mains, we had the Burger Au Poivre and the French chicken. The burger was packed with flavor--definitely one of the more unique burgers I've had in Dallas (and I've had plenty). The drawback? The bun. It was a bit tough and stale, which prevented it from soaking up that peppery au poivre sauce and really becoming something special. I ended up ditching most of the bun and using the fries to mop up the sauce instead. With a fresher bun, that burger would easily go from a 6 to an 8+. Unfortunately, temperature was an issue across the board. The au poivre sauce was lukewarm at best, and the French chicken--and its fries--came out the same way. Big flavors, but lacking heat, which dulled the overall impact. Still, I'd absolutely go back. If this were a $120 dinner, I might not nitpick, but for $200, it's fair to expect tighter execution. The menu is solid, and I'm already eyeing the classic burger, steak frites, and some of the salads for lunch. This spot is within my 2-mile circle, so I'll definitely be back. Just hoping they work out the kinks and it becomes a place I crave as much as Il Bracco, Hudson House, or Claremont these days.

We were waiting for this restaurant to open and we were not disappointed! As French people, we found it really pleasant to rediscover the French atmosphere. With tables, chairs and colors. The menu is very varied and offers a lot of choice. We ordered the country pâté as an appetizer, steak tartare and mussel fries as a main course, then a chocolate fondant and café liégeois for dessert, and everything was delicious! In addition, the staff gave us a really warm and attentive welcome, the waitress was very attentive and smiling, and the managers came to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed throughout the dinner. We recommend it and we'll come back!

It's dark, moody, and effortlessly romantic, with a live pianist playing throughout the evening. It's the kind of place that feels intimate without being stuffy, perfect for a date night. The service was honestly some of the best I've had in Dallas. My water never dropped below two sips from full, the team was that attentive. It became amusing (in the best way) how on top of everything they were. Our waiter, Rene, was outstanding. He provided stellar recommendations from starters to entrées, drinks, and desserts. I trusted him enough to let him choose my glass of wine to follow my cocktail, and he nailed it. He also walked us through the menu in detail, which was incredibly helpful as first-time guests. The food absolutely delivered: * Shrimp St. Martins - Five jumbo de-veined shrimp in a rich, butter-like sauce that was decadent without being overwhelming. * Frisée Aux Lardon Salad - Rene thoughtfully split this tableside and served it onto individual plates. The dressing leans heavily Dijon-forward, so order accordingly if you're not a mustard fan. That said, the bacon was some of the best I've ever had: thick, slightly sweet, and perfectly cooked. * Sea Bass Ratatouille - Served over a tomato sauce, it was flavorful, well-balanced, and not too heavy. * Rack of Lamb - An extremely generous portion (which I happily helped my date finish). It was boldly seasoned and on the saltier side, which I personally loved, though I understand that may not be for everyone. * Affogato - A simple but perfect way to close out the meal. Between the romantic atmosphere, top-tier service, and excellent food, this is easily one of the better dining experiences I've had in Dallas.

Apparently it's a Dallas staple restaurant, having been around for more than 44 years, but it is now in a new location as of 2024. Starting from the moment you walk in you are enveloped in a very moody romantic French bistro. Just inside the front door you are greeted by the hostess. There's also a live piano player who plays live music at just the right volume. Tables are covered in white tablecloths with glowing candles. The booths are especially cozy! If you are looking for a romantic dinner spot this is your spot! The service here is on par and the food delicious! This particular night we started with the caviar service, then moved on to the mixed green salad. After that, honestly I was full so I just had Lobster Bisque for dinner while my husband had the lamb. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, but were too full to move onto dessert, maybe next time!

A French person would have been horrified at this dish In summary over three meals in the last 30 days, the food is hit and miss and the Kitchen is very slow. I love the location but I'm not sure we'll come back to eat at Toussaint. ---------- We mostly enjoyed our meals here. This review is for two visits that we've made here in the last 30 days. Our first visit here was on May 9, following an afternoon concert up the block at the Majestic Theatre. We popped in here about 5:30 pm and we shared a meal. They were able to do a kitchen split of the French dip meal. It was really tasty. The bartender worked the bar and the entire dining room. Must have been short handed that night but he did great. This weekend (May 29), we ended up staying at the Saint Elm Hotel which occupies the same building. We ended up at the Toussaint for dinner one night. We each had the French Onion Soup and we shared the Braised Short Rib dinner. The French Onion Soup was very good. It's in my top 3 of all time! The Braised Short Rib dinner - kitchen split, came out and presented great. Unfortunately, it was not served hot. It was barely warm. We sent it back for reheating. It came back out about 15 minutes later. The mashed potatoes, mushroom and gravy were warm. The short rib was not. We ate it cool anyway as we had a show to get to and I didn't really want to send it back again. That said, the potatoes, mushrooms and gravy had great flavor. The above all said for this dinner - I'd still come back to try other dinner dishes. Not sure my wife would agree.

Oh man... what a let down this visit was for us…read more My wife and I have come here at least once a year for the past 3 years, and we've always loved this place. The food has always been great and the experience was something we looked forward to. That's why we chose to celebrate an early Valentine's Day here -- to avoid the crazy rush and the preset menu. But this time? Completely different experience. We got seated right away because of our reservation, which was great. It took a few minutes for the waiter to come by -- no big deal. I ordered an Old Fashioned and honestly... the bartender needs some help. It came out full of crushed ice and tasted watered down. I sent it back, and the second one was basically the same drink with more whiskey thrown in. At that point, I just let it go. Then things just kept going downhill. After about 20 minutes, we realized we hadn't gotten any bread. We asked the waiter and he said he'd check. Another 10 minutes go by and he comes back saying, "Still no bread," and drops off the wrong appetizer -- we had only ordered a salad. He takes it back, and it's another 15 minutes before our actual salad shows up. Still no bread. At one point, we could literally see him arguing with someone in the back about why we didn't get bread yet. Not exactly something you want to watch during a date night. The food, when it finally came out, was delicious. No complaints there. But it took forever. By the time we were eating, it was about 45 minutes until closing... and we had gotten there two hours earlier. Then comes the payment situation. The waiter brings the check back and casually tells me I gave him two credit cards and he "just picked the brighter one." I look down and he had handed me someone else's credit card while mine was still sitting in the book. That's not a small mistake. Overall, it just felt unorganized and sloppy this time. I don't know if they're short staffed or just getting too busy for their own good, but it was disappointing, especially for a place we've genuinely enjoyed in the past. Hoping it was just an off night... but it definitely made us think twice about coming back.
