The space is nice and the Italian pop playing through the speakers adds a sense of ambiance. But the night started off on edge with one server rudely brushing past us as she was leaving the restaurant as we waited to be seated for our reservation. Once sat at our table, we felt rushed and on edge as our server seemed he was put out waiting on us. We were looking forward to a relaxed dinner and good food, but beyond the appetizers, the prosciutto was very good, the evening fell extremely short. The food was delicious, but the portions were way off. My husband's meal was so large he couldn't finish it, while I had the smallest plate of pasta I've ever seen. It looked like an appetizer. My food was good, but I was left hungry. Our dessert was also huge. I don't understand why my plate was so small. What's worse, is that we were celebrating our anniversary and there was zero acknowledgement from the staff. Not a single person said, "Happy anniversary", even though my husband made sure to let them know. This could have been an amazing date night. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine, that Mike brought out on a cart and decanted for us. The decor was swanky and upscale. There was jazzy cocktail music playing in the background. We ordered the caprese salad and it was the best we've ever had. The heirloom tomatoes were sliced paper thin. The pasta was homemade and absolutely delicious (both the tricolor fettuccine in truffle sauce and the anglotti in sage butter sauce). What ruined our evening? The service. Our server, Luca P., basically ignored us all night. We never got the complimentary bread until the end of the meal when we finally got tired of waiting and asked the busser for it (the Italian bread was delicious, fresh out of the oven, but the 3 accompanying butters were underwhelming). The portion sizes didn't make any sense. My husband only had 8 pieces and I had so much I only finished half. We've been to Italy, we understand European plates. But if someone had come to check on us, my husband would have ordered more food (or Luca should have mentioned the small portion when he ordered). Since it's supposed to be a fine dining establishment, we expected to have a manager check on us. That never happened. Fabulous Ambiance: 5 Service: 5 Food : 5 The food was just amazing! I had a gnocchi dish's it was outstanding the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was full of flavor and just so good. Foodie Alert! My friend had a little girls' night at La Stella, and we experienced such amazing service; the staff was very attentive and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect, very relaxed with live music. The guest musician did a fantastic job covering various songs. We ordered the Agnolotti Pizzicati and Bronzino. I live at the Atelier, which is just up the street from this restaurant, and I decided to stop in by myself for a cocktail and a meal. I sat at the bar, and my bartender was Paco (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly). He was exceptionally great his service was phenomenal. I ordered the calamari, which was very good. I typically prefer my calamari a bit more crispy, but this was still perfect and very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it. I also ordered the branzino, which was delicious and very filling. For dessert, I had the tiramisu. It was served in a beautiful martini-style glass with cocoa powder on top. It was very good and beautifully presented. Everyone was nice, pleasant, and kind, which is why I am giving this restaurant five stars. The ambience was lovely, and there was a live male singer whose songs were enjoyable. Paco recommended a very smooth butter Chardonnay which I enjoyed. The Espresso Martini was good and the lamberts! The location is unbeatable if you're heading to the Dallas Symphony, super convenient and easy to get to. We were seated in the middle section at a table and with the noise level it made it pretty tough to hold a conversation throughout the meal. We started with the polpette della Nonna (wagyu meatballs) and the u'purp (char-grilled Spanish octopus). The meatballs came alive once we paired them with the truffle ricotta butter from the table side bread, that combination was genuinely good. The octopus, unfortunately, fell flat. It lacked seasoning and just didn't have much going on flavor-wise. For entrees, we tried the branzino, the agnolotti pizzicati, and the scaloppine di wagyu. The branzino was decent but not memorable, it could've used a little more depth, possibly just some salt. The agnolotti pizzicati was the clear winner of the night, the wagyu filling and pasta were delicious and easily the highlight of the meal. The scaloppine di wagyu, however, was over-salted and arrived covered in peas, so we sent it back. Overall, the food felt inconsistent with some hits, some misses, and a few dishes that just needed better seasoning. The convenience to the symphony is a big plus, but the food and noise level have room for improvement. read more

I had the best experience here! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and i was immediately greeted with a birthday card from the staff! We valeted our car for 15$ right outside of the restaurant but there may be other parking available. We made reservations beforehand and were seated very fast. I had a delicious aperol spritz and my boyfriend got one of their signature cocktails. Our waiter was super friendly and made the experience great! We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and they were delicious and came out super quickly! Next We got cacio e pepe gnocchi and my boyfriend got the wagyu ribeye. Both were AMAZING. Finally, we got a complementary dessert for my birthday and free limoncello shots. I can't recommend this place enough if you are celebrating something and want a great meal. We were lucky that we stumbled upon the restaurant week specials! Everything was absolutely delicious! The Meatballs were pretty tender and with a delicious red tomato sauce (which also goes great with their bread ) The octopus was also very tender and smoky. A nice combination with grilled (?) vegetables and especially tomato and lemon. The pasta was ever good. I appreciate a good house made pasta. Fried shrimp and calamari was a huge position of a very solid classic deep fried seafood. There's also some white wish mixed in within. The service was great and very attentive. If you sit in the kitchen side you can hear what goes on in the kitchen from the guy saying "i don't care" (x9) in a row to a random staff member speaking cross over dialect non native Spanish to the kitchen staff. My husband and I had an intimate anniversary dinner at La Stella and they did not disappoint. The food was amazing, service even better, and the vibe was classy with a wonderful live pianist. We had a lovely time and are so happy we celebrated our anniversary at La Stella. All of our dishes were great, but the star of the show was an off menu risotto I specially requested and the chef happily obliged. Instead of the scallop risotto on the menu, I asked for shrimp and lobster to be added. This ultimately turned into a different and delicious risotto masterpiece that was a first for the chef. On my own so paparadelle Stellaria w a great and generous ragout of wagyu beef. Had asparagus in the side - I like vinegar but this was too acidic. But cooked well. So years ago I traveled Italy in the North West region. I fell in love with family restaurants that were open only at night and served whatever they caught that day. This place reminds me of this. Multiple courses and food that is crafted with thought. I loved the enselata Misto, simple and a great start to the meal. Branzino is my go to fish and it was so amazing. Awful. Service, Christopher, was unimpressive. He did not introduce himself. I had to ask his name. Asked him what the restaurant's favorites were & to provide us some recommendations. He pointed to two appetizers - one being squid. Really? That's the restaurants favorites? He forgot my husband's Coke & my husband had to ask for it. The food was subpar. No big deal. Average. The bread was stale & the three butters? Two barely had any taste to them & one tasted like pimento cheese. There were no bold flavors as you would expect from Italian food. Most were bland. Eggplant parmesan was okay. And since when does an upscale Italian restaurant not offer fresh grated parmesan cheese? That was shocking to not have any. Speaking of not having any? How about not having any gelato for dessert? When we asked the waiter for gelato for dessert, which we saw on the menu, he said it was simply regular ice cream. So the gelato they offer that is written on the menu is regular good ol' American vanilla ice cream. Like What?! One positive that occurred but only after a negative -- I asked for a White Russian cocktail. It was awful. So watered down. I asked the waiter to take it away & instead bring me a Colorado Bulldog. He brought me another White Russian. Not what I asked for but again it was also watered down. Took it back & brought the Colorado Bulldog but again - so watered down. No joke! Not sure if it was the Restaurant Mgr or the Bartender (he should have introduced himself) came over & wanted to make it right which I did appreciate. He brought a rolling cart with all of the ingredients and I helped him make the drink table side. What he was doing wrong was putting it all in a martini shaker & shaking it which is what was causing them to be watered down. Whomever that guy was, I appreciated his efforts. He was a nice & pleasant man. Too bad our server wasn't like him. But look, if you're going to spend this kind of money you except exceptional. Instead it was poor at best. read more

We began with cocktails and an appetizer of PB and J. the fresh figs , jam , salty prosciutto and burrato was delicious. Our waiter Ron had recommended it so we knew immediately we had been partnered with someone knowledgeable of the menu and flavors . We tried this place recently for a guy's dinner and had a good experience. Parking in the area is scarce, but they do have valet for $10. We had a large table in the corner close to the kitchen and were comfortable. The old fashioned and aperol spritz cocktails were tasty. We tried the U'purp (octopus) and prosciutto burrata and jam for starters. Both had great flavor and the portion size was good for the 5 of us. Each of us got our own pasta dish. 2 of us tried the Gnocchi Sardi and it was fantastic. The group favorite though was the Paccheri Al Ragu Napoletano (short rib). We split the wagyu ribeye and the Pluma Iberica (pork loin). We saw another table get it, so naturally, we had to try the pistachio dessert. Delicious. Definitely worth checking out. read more

We had a great first dining experience at La Stella. We went on Monday Aug 10th for our wedding anniversary dinner and sat on the lounge side. There were only about 5-7 tables in use. The atmosphere gave the feeling of an old supper club. It was intimate and dark and we loved it. The live duo entertainment was very nice. Our outstanding server Katelyn gave the duo a request song and while they didn't have what we requested, the substitution of the song was great. Because it was a slower evening Katelyn was able to spend a little more time talking with us and recommending food and drinks. I had branzino and crispy potatoes and my husband had a pasta dish that looked liked giant raviolis stuffed with meat. Everything was delicious including the creme brule Katelyn recommended. Wow, this was a last-minute decision on the way to the Dallas Symphony and was one of the best choices we could have made. La Stella Cucina Verace was outstanding in every way from the start. The atmosphere is perfectly balanced between elegance and warmth, and you can feel the passion and authenticity in every element of décor and live entertainment. We decided to stick with drinks and appetizers, and everything was phenomenal. The crusty Italian bread was next level, and the ricotta spreads were delicious. The meatballs melted in your mouth, the fritto misto was light and flavorful though I wish it came with a few more shrimp, and the prosciutto with burrata was simply outstanding. The cocktails were exceptional as well. I decided to drink my dessert and the Pocket Coffee cocktail should not be missed. On another visit, we explored more of the menu and every dish was perfection. The octopus was tender with a perfect kiss of char, the Iberico pork was deeply flavorful, and the Wagyu meatballs were rich and delicate. The house-made pasta was beautifully done and the cannoli, with its crisp shell, creamy filling, pistachio crunch and light citrus note, ended the meal perfectly. Every dish was balanced and clearly made with pride and skill. Ambiance was spot on, refined yet comfortable and never pretentious. The live singer and piano player were amazing, performing everything from old classics to modern hits and even opera, with real talent and emotion. It created such a special atmosphere. The service was just as impressive: Arif was our waiter and was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. Nate, the manager, was attentive, making sure every table got a check-in. Paco Hernandez was extraordinary-warm, charming, and steeped in deep knowledge of the food that made this night so unforgettable. Even at the bar, the staff showed incredible craft and charisma, making it feel as curated as the kitchen. La Stella is high-end dining, and it shows in the prices, but trust us, it's worth it. I loved that it was the tentacle. The flavors mixed with the tomatoes and lemon really complimented the calamari. If I see Branzino on the menu, I'm getting the branzino. Of course it was pre--de-boned. I was hoping to watch them slice and dice the damn thing. It was perfectly cooked. I didn't care for the Spanish underneath. It was not well cooked and hard to swallow. I'd suggest substituting that. read more

Dinner took almost 3 hours, service dragged the entire time, our waitress never came back after our dinner was served, and we therefore had to get up and grab our own to-go container. Food quality didn't match the high prices--scallops and meatballs were served cold, polenta had absolutely no flavor, and salads came out with the entrées. Severely overpriced and not worth it. Both were pretty good but nothing to write home about, I would say they probably aren't worth the high price. The cocktails are all pretty expensive at 22 bucks a piece and the cheapest GLASS of wine was 20 dollars, and all the food was pretty expensive as well. So overall everything was good but it's a lot to pay for just good. The restaurant is pretty nice inside and all the servers and hosts were very good, attentive, and friendly. Charming and synthetic Italian feel to this lovely restaurant. Right next to the Windspear. Great location. The street seemed quiet for a Saturday night- easy to navigate and valet is available for a $10 charge, the valet did seems to whisper- "it's $10 for valet and any tip you'd like to add on" Food: we tried the restaurant week menu. $99 four courses- wowzers, pricey but good portions. I will say we did not get a complimentary basket of bread- subs because we were participating in the RW menu- but even more reason for the $99 price tag- and good cause. 1st course: The waygu meatballs were superstars! The sauce, the flavor, home run! Wish they were piping hot- a little cold- 2nd curse: the rigatoni so flavorful, smoky, creamy, meaty, lush, lovely. Mmm. 3rd course: Branzino- crispy skin, flavorful fish, beautiful presentation Dessert: presentation alone was tip top lollipop! The tiramisu was magnifique! Drinks are pricey but we had a really nice time. Service: immaculate service- everyone was friendly, checking in on us, attentive and prompt. Very sweet people.
