Griot

Griot fried soft was excellent. Jon Jon was ok until I put the gravy on it and that turt it up. Picklez good to. Great customer service. I walked in on a situation that was handled quite well

Roaches

I'd like to see a health inspector in this place food is great but as far as looking clean...a roach ran across my shoe as if i was supposed to feed it or something as a Haitian myself i wasn't surprised when i seen how it looks in here

One of the best Haitian restaurants around! I'm actually Haitian so of course I'm more critical of Haitian restaurants because I know what good Haitian food is--well this restaurant is it! The food is always cooked to order and so good! I love that the plates include macaroni, sauce, and pikliz. I've eaten everything here before from the tilapia, to the legume, to griot, etc. Today I ordered tassot turkey (fried turkey) with diri djon djon (mushroom rice), it comes with banan peze (friend plantains) and macaroni. Everything was perfect, flavor was great and the portion size was even better. What I love about this restaurant, they are not stingy with food! You will always get more than enough food so you will be more than satisfied! Definitely one of my favorite Haitian restaurants so of course I'll be back.

I've been eating from Bistro for 12 years. I shouldn't have let one employee change my view of the establishment.

So, my fellow food lovers, on the last stop of our Fort Lauderdale trip, we had to make it a good…read moreone! We stopped by Voodoo Bayou, a Cajun-inspired restaurant that definitely did not disappoint. We went during happy hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM (bar area only). Right away, we noticed how friendly the staff was, and the ambiance was absolutely amazing. I also heard they have live music on certain nights, which makes me want to come back even more! Now, let's get to the food. I decided to try the fried oysters, and listen... for my first time trying oysters, I was hooked! They were so good that I ordered a second round. My husband ordered the hickory-smoked wings, and let me tell you, these are a MUST-TRY. The flavor was incredible! Of course, we couldn't leave without ordering their famous beignets. OMG! They were absolutely delicious. If I had any room left, I would have ordered another plate. And how could we order all that food without some drinks? You know me better than that! My husband ordered the Black Magic Lemonade with bourbon, and it quickly became his favorite drink of the day. Then he spotted an Old Fashioned on the menu, and there was no way he was passing that up--he was in heaven! As for me, I ordered the Frozen Hurricane, and let me just say... it definitely did the job! This place has officially made our list of favorite happy hour spots. We can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu. And of course, I'll be bringing all my foodies along for the journey! Until next time, my foodie lovers!

The service was great. We had a very attentive waiter who was really nice and helpful. Unfortunately I don't remember his name now. The best item we had was the beignets. They were amazing along with the ice cream. The first bite had my eyes rolling in the back of my head. Honestly I could have had a plate of those and nothing else. There was a homeless person bothering us because we ate out on the patio. I wish management could have said something. Otherwise, sitting outside was nice.

We love Cajun food, so we were excited to try it, and the gumbo did not disappoint. I was starving and completely forgot to take pictures of the étouffée my bf got, he said it was good, definitely creamier than traditional, which made it a bit of a risk for me since I'm allergic to dairy. I had a Shirley Temple, and my boyfriend had a Bloody Mary that he said was good... although I have to say, the green bean garnish threw me off a little I've seen some wild garnishes, but that one made me laugh. I got chicken tenders with tots and red beans and rice everything was solid. The music was great, the atmosphere was lively, and even with the rain keeping us off the patio, we had a great time. We'll definitely be back to check out the outdoor space on a nicer day.

South Kitchen & Bar is truly one of Pompano Beach's best hidden gems! If you love New Orleans…read morecuisine with a delicious Caribbean flair, this is a must-visit. We enjoyed Sunday brunch on the beautiful outdoor patio with our little dog, and despite the Florida heat and humidity, we were perfectly comfortable beneath the shade of the magnificent tree. It created such a charming and relaxing atmosphere. The Unlimited Brunch absolutely lives up to the rave reviews. The value is incredible, and the food just keeps coming! Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, but our two favorites were the Gouda Shrimp & Grits and the Sweet Potato Waffle--both were pure decadence on a plate. We also loved the flaky biscuits, the sweet roll, the deviled eggs...and that's just the beginning. There were so many wonderful dishes to sample that every dish brought to the table was another delicious surprise. From the creative, flavorful cuisine to the attentive, friendly service, every aspect of our visit was exceptional. South Kitchen & Bar delivered a brunch experience we'll be talking about for a long time, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

I recently visited South Bar & Kitchen for their Old School Saturday Supper event, and while the…read moreatmosphere had its highlights, the overall dining experience left me wanting more. The restaurant is located in Pompano Beach with both street parking and several nearby parking lots, which made parking fairly easy. That said, the surrounding area felt a little sketchy, and as a woman, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable walking around alone at night. The restaurant itself is cute, casual, and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The event was held outside, where DJs kept the crowd entertained with a great mix of hip-hop, R&B, and old-school classics. The music was definitely one of the highlights of the night. Because the humidity was unbearable, even after the sun went down, I chose to sit inside for dinner before heading out to enjoy the event. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. I understand they were likely busier than usual because of the event, but our waiter wasn't very attentive. He told us to flag him down if we needed anything, which isn't exactly what you expect when dining out. Our drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive, and although we were told the bar was backed up, they ended up tasting mostly like juice with very little alcohol. For appetizers, we ordered the crab beignets. They were just okay, but the mustard dipping sauce was actually really delicious and probably my favorite part of the dish. My friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and I had the shrimp Caesar salad. The salad came with much more dressing than I prefer, making it a bit overwhelming. My friend thought her sandwich was decent, but unfortunately it didn't sit well with her stomach the following day. After dinner, we headed outside to enjoy the party. The outdoor deck is built around a beautiful tree and offers plenty of seating, along with a separate outdoor bar, which created a fun atmosphere. One thing that stood out, though, was how slippery the deck was. At first I thought it might have been my shoes, but after hearing several other people mention the same thing, it seemed like I wasn't the only one who noticed. Overall, the entertainment and outdoor atmosphere were enjoyable, but I wouldn't return for dinner. The menu is fairly limited, and with fewer options, I expected each dish to really stand out. Unfortunately, the food and service just didn't live up to those expectations. If you're looking for good music and a fun Saturday night vibe, the event is worth checking out, but I wouldn't go for the dining experience alone.
