We found this place for a nice dinner bite. We saw the prix fixe menu and thought this would be the best way to try many different dishes. I started with the escargots. They were fried so a different cook, but perfect flavor and the black garlic aioli was the perfect match. My fiancé ordered the tuna crust and I almost wish I would've ordered that as well. So fresh and flavorful. For my main I ordered the mussels and he ordered the gnocchi. You really can't go wrong with anything at this place. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the bartender was awesome. Great place for food, drinks and great company.

When they said "Olive Oil Cake", I was unsure. But when this arrived, it was as delicious as it looks!

Booked a reservation here for our 5th Anniversary. This was a great place for that special occasion, they really made us feel like guests and were very welcoming and accommodating from the time we walked in the door. I reserved a patio table, but when we arrived, the sun was beating down on that patio and it was fairly warm out there. The hostess offered and indoor table which we were happy to agree to. The menu is short, but offers a great variety of dishes to accommodate everyone. We chose the Prix Fixe menu just because we liked the options and the idea of a 3 course meal. The roasted chicken was amazing. I know, hard to imagine but it was literally exactly what I would imagine would be served in the French countryside. It was gloriously moist, and had a buttery, citrus-y flavor of classic French cooking. It was also served with the most delicious mushrooms I've ever had, and I'm generally not a huge fan of mushrooms. The dessert option was an Olive Oil Cake. I was unsure at first, but the description and the berries put me over. It was great! The portions were perfect, we left satisfied, but not uncomfortable and were able to enjoy a night of music after our dinner. Bonus. The bartender was fantastic and willing to discuss the cocktails and the ingredients at length. Which we took full advantage of. Will for sure keep this one on the short list for future special occasions.

Exquisite, elegant food in a quaint, French-inspired setting with genuinely friendly and knowledgeable service. I went with the prix fixe menu, which included a starter, entrée, and dessert. The first course was the Parmesan soup - a creamy soup with rich Parmesan flavor, topped with sugar snap peas, pancetta, and croutons. It was comforting, flavorful, and well-balanced. For the main course, I had the roasted chicken. It was simply delicious - a tender, perfectly cooked chicken quarter with au jus, mushrooms, a smooth purée, and asparagus. The flavors were clean and well-executed. Dessert was a pistachio financier that was light and not overly sweet. The raspberry sorbet on the side added a nice tart contrast and made for a refreshing end to the meal. My husband had the special -- a ribeye prepared in a prime rib style. It was very tender, with a great crust, and came with crispy pommes frites. He ordered the Pain Perdu - incredible. Salted caramel, gooey and just down right yummy. This was the kind of meal where you take your time, have a good conversation, and leave feeling happy and full.

We were able to be seated on the patio on a gorgeous Friday night at 7:30PM. We were worried about not having a reservation so we were clearly very pleased by this! We just had drinks & an app before our dinner reservation across the street, but we were honestly a tad disappointed that we weren't eating here after tasting how amazing the tuna crudo was! The martinis were very fairly priced and had blue cheese olives-- my favorite! We will most definitely be back for dinner and will be asking to sit in Dylan's section again.

Charming French bistro. We came for dinner right after we had that crazy snowy, icy days. Of course, it took a while to get a parking spot and when I say this, I meant, to drive up an iceberg and hope your car can make it off of it without incident. My husband dropped me off by the door and I came in, was immediately seated (we had reservations), and the waiter came immediately but said he will be back when I told him my husband was still trying to park. He brought waters to the table but patiently waited. The tables were typical of French bistro I've been to in the area which were on the smaller, dainty end. Unless you're in a larger party then you get a normal sized table. I love the vibe of the place, the oversized glass windows, the fanciful curtains, and the overall brightness of the decor. Very refreshing. When my husband finally came, we ordered some cocktails. I tried their french 75 and he, the melon pisco sour. Both were good, solid cocktails. We opted for the prixe fixe and started with the French onion soup. Since this is a French bistro, is it appropriate to just say onion soup? I'm not sure but it was delicious, cheesey and full of flavors. A perfect start to our meal. Also doubled as a sure way to warm up. I then opted for the scallops for my entrée which was served with some roasted cauliflower. Very good. I really had no complaints. To finish off the meal, I had the chocolate tort. Again, chef's kiss. Needless to say, our service was wonderful. The staff were very patient, quick, and friendly. I could not ask for a better experience and I can't wait to return!

You truly feel like you've stumbled into a quaint bistro in France here, the service was impeccable and we felt ever taken care of. You must start with the financiers and French onion soup - both incredible. My boyfriend got the scallops for his main, they had a beautiful sauce with them. And don't skip the dessert!

Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was such a pleasant experience. Right off the bat, this place is fancy so be prepare for the fare. We did the special 3-course meal for $50 per person and it was a pretty good deal, cheaper than if you were to order from the menu. I love the setting and the vibe of the restaurant. It's classy but also cozy and romantic perfect for date nights. I think the food is good but I don't know if I'm fully convinced. The roast chicken was well seasoned but the texture was dry. I wouldn't recommend ordering that. The gnocci was really good! However, would it justify the price? I don't know.

Bistro La Floraison is a must try! It's delectable French food makes it worth making a reservation for. The place gets packed on the weekends so a reservation is highly recommended. We tried the French Onion Financiers - there were delicate and delicious! The duck liver mousse is my absolute favorite and a must try! It's so creamy and doesn't taste gamey at all. For the mains, we tried the Mussels, Parisian Gnocchi and the Monkfish Veronique. Our favorites were the Mussels and the Gnocchi. They were both flavorful and well made. For dessert, we had Pain Perdu which was a perfect end to the meal. In addition to the food, we tried a few cocktails - the Toronto was our favorite! Our server was very attentive and patient with us. She walked through the menu with us and gave us recommendations as well.

Delightful. Yummy. Great service with a sweet gal who was conscious of our conversation and tried her best not to interrupt while providing high quality service. The food was delicious - we did the fixed menu and I could not have locked my plates any cleaner. I'm not usually a fan of gnocchi but the dish came with so many yummy vegetables I decided to order it. I was so impressed. Their gnocchi was crispy on the outside almost like tater tots and boy was it good. I am still dreaming about the chocolate cake for dessert. I'll be back for another pleasant evening this home-like, welcoming bistro!

Lovely French restaurant on Wydown in Clayton. If you remember Bar La Frère, it's exactly the same as it was back then we had a reservation. It is a very small resto do you'll need one. I suppose because it was so frigid that night, people didn't want to leave so we got seated a half hour past our reservation. The manager was very nice, apologized and sent us complimentary Gougères. That was nice!! They were perfectly made and were délicieux! Our server was wonderful. Very attentive and asked if we had any food allergies. The menu of course is tres Français. We had a bistro burger, Parisian gnocchi and roasted chicken. All well made and came hot to the table. The French onion soup was so good. Rich broth and a crunchy cheesy toasty top. Perfect on a cold snowy night. Very good cocktail and wine list. French 75 was great. You can order from the regular menu or they have a prix fixe menu Tuesday-Saturday. Spritz hour is their happy hour and it's just that for one hour between 5-6. They have build your own spritz cocktails and served by the piece apps. Also a burger and Tour de France (a sampler of all their apps. Great place, fantastic service. Oh and get the chocolate torte! It is heaven on a plate. Not heavy or dense. Just perfect. Street parking with one really small public parking lot so be prepared to hoof it. Cheers!

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars If you're interested in a little bit of French magic in the kitchen, be sure to visit Bistro la Floraison for an evening to remember. Reservations book quick, so you'll want to plan well in advance to secure a spot. Street parking is usually available near the restaurant. I love that much of the decor was retained from the Bar les Frère days. The intimate and elegant dining space make for a great date night. We loved our server, who from the get go, was warm and welcoming. He had a great sense of humor and overall, we loved his presence and appreciated his suggestions for the evening. The restaurant boasts a short menu, but the dishes presented are anything but. You'll come across beautiful flavors and a variety of textures, creating a sort of magic in your mouth. Some our favorites include: - Devilled Eggs: Golden Kaluga caviar, smoked creme fraiche, chives - French Onion Financiers: Almond, thyme oil, comte cheese - Steak Tartare: Steamed egg yolk, crispy shallots, smoked bone marrow vinaigrette, salt and vinegar potato chips - Main Bouchot Mussels: Spanish chorizo, sofrito, white wine and saffron broth, toasted baguette - Chestnut Mont Blanc: Pedro Jimenez sherry, chocolate ice cream, mascarpone cremeaux Tips: Ask for any specials that evening and order it. You won't be disappointed. Cocktails are alluring and will have you lingering around for more.

I visited Bistro La Floraison with my foodie girlfriends and we had an absolute blast over great food! The spritz hour cocktails and fair is the perfect way to start your evening meal. Please allow time for this and indulge completely. The French onion financiers are my favorite item on the menu next to the oysters. The trout toast was also a favorite among the group. For my entree I chose the short rib because I was hungry! It's a filling entree so be sure to bring your appetite for that one. I also sampled my friend's salmon entree. It looked so bleak and simple but was probably the BEST salmon I've ever tasted (I fished salmon and trout on the Great Lakes y'all so that's quite the compliment). I love that the menu changes seasonally so you have to visit every so often to get the full experience. Our wait staff was fun and very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a few good laughs with them as well and definitely will return.

I made reservations, they require a credit card to make reservations so that if you cancel outside of the 24-hour time period or you do not show up, they can charge you up to $25 per person. Fair. I've seen this before in other restaurants. I made a 5:45 pm reservations as it was on a Saturday and I wanted to get there before it got too busy. We were seated on the lounge area. I asked the waitress if there was a way we could be seated at a normal table for dining. She then explained that people have eaten dinners on those tables before and that there's no open tables to move us to. Why, yes. I have also eaten off of a picnic blanket while at the park. I am well aware that people can eat off of different types of surfaces. Anyway, we made do though I was annoyed having to lean forward to take a bite out of my steak. The plate was too large to sit on my lap and I didn't want to eat off of my lap anyway. By the way, the proper table by us was empty the whole time from the time we got there, ordered appetizers, and our main entree, ate everything and sat around for 10 more minutes to finish our drinks. The food was excellent! We started with the crab dip which was true to its name. It had crab meat and topped with some crisp bread crumbs, no fillers. For places who try to pass off crab dips, they should take a page off of High Bar's recipe book. My husband had the chicken sandwich and I had the steak for my entree. As usual, I ordered mine medium rare which came properly prepared. I always get nervous when ordering steak at a non-steakhouse but I trusted my gut and they delivered. My husband really enjoyed his chicken sandwich. It had 2 fried chickens stacked atop one another. He took one off and took it home for later. We both had some cocktails. I love their spritz and the spritz options they have. Our waitress was okay. She wasn't overly friendly or attentive but she took our orders and kind of acknowledged our existence when she had to. The people delivering our food and drinks were nicer. We wanted to take our leftovers home and told our waitress this. She dropped off some containers and the check. We left shortly after. I was honestly hoping for a much better experience. At least the food was still really good!

Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.
