Quick and high quality sushi here at the Ritz Lobby Bar. Nothing says "I might be high maintenance but I'm also in a rush" quite like knocking back high-quality oysters and sushi in a freshly remodeled luxury hotel lobby. It's giving sophisticated speed date and I'm here for it. Let's start with the remodel. It's clean, it's shiny, it smells like expensive hand lotion. You'll probably want to Instagram your drink. Or your shoes. Or both. But pro tip, and I cannot stress this enough: grab the seats by the fireplace. Do it. I don't care if it's July. Those seats say "I know what I'm doing." Now to the food. The oysters are slurp-worthy. Briny little ocean hugs. The sushi is legit, considering you're in a lobby. But let's not beat around the spicy tuna ha! the Clayton roll is the moment. Whoever rolled it clearly had divine inspiration or at least watched a lot of Chef's Table. Come for the oysters, stay for the fireplace, and pretend you're on a sushi-fueled power move. read more

I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the terrible service and overpriced drinks. We sat down at roughly 5:30 on a Saturday evening. The plan was to have a couple drinks and some sushi. After sitting for every bit of 30 minutes with no server coming around we went to the bar to order for ourselves. The bartender was prompt and a pro. The drinks were fine but not worth $22 and up. We then sat down and still no server for a really long time. Finally a server came around and by that time we were ready for another round of drinks. The drinks came in a reasonable amount of time and then the server was just gone. It was at least an hour before we saw her again. We then were able to order the sushi. Another drink order was never offered. The sushi took forever. The place wasn't really very busy either. The sushi arrived in about an hour. THE SUSHI WAS VERY GOOD. By the time we finished it was nearly 10pm. The whole thing just took forever. Waters were sporadically refilled. When we wanted the bill it had been a long time since we saw our server. The empty sushi dishes were getting old. We had to get up and go find the server. Then the process of getting the bill, giving her the cards, and getting the bills back took a long time too. There are several good sushi spots in St. Louis. The sushi was good, everything else was really a pain in the butt. I think I'm good on this place for at least another 40 years! read more

The lobby lounge is amazing at Ritz. Very casual seating arrangements with mix of sofa seats. There is no pressure dining - the server really want to understand what you need and provide that rather than push for more order or drinks. It was nice to be able to stop by even for a snack, fruit or dessert and not feel like pressured to order whole dinner. Fruit platters, desserts and amazing quality. We loved everything we ordered, pizza, burger, and fries, fruit and dessert. Highly recommend to stop by if you're staying at ritz or nearby. read more

Teddy Bear Tea in the Lobby Lounge at The Ritz Carlton is my favorite holiday tradition! The lobby is decorated so beautifully for the holidays. Each guest is served either a pot of holiday tea or hot chocolate. The food is a traditional high tea menu. We had curry chicken salad, ham & cornichon pate, cucumber sandwiches, traditional egg salad and smoked salmon rosette. We also had scones with lemon curd and an abundance of desserts. One of the things I enjoy about the Ritz Carlton is the comfortable environment of the Lobby Lounge. The menu that is offered has something for everyone in addition to the Live Music days they offer. This evening,I opted for the chicken quesadilla, side of Fries and a glass of wine. The quesadilla is delicious! An ample amount of chicken and very cheesy on the inside with the right crispness to the tortilla for balance. Served with Sour cream, Guacamole and Pico on the side. Side of Fries is fair serving size and hard to stop eating. Needless to say, I had to force myself not to eat the whole meal and it wasn't easy. Service was top notch as always. read more

A year since my first review. Opulent is till the one word to describe the Cigar lounge. I come here once a month to exchange lies and brags about all subjects. With a fine group of men older than me. So my lies are newer thus better. Ok background is over let us talk about Fish Taco's. Sweet love of mine they were freaking fantastic. Two fish taco's served with steak fries for $14.00. Dang fine price for the Ritz. The taco was made of white fish, red onions, shreds of lettuce and a secret sauce. Very nice and calm lounge. Good drink selection and food options. It can become very crowded in a weekend, which is a bit tricky if staying there as a guest, because you might not be able to eat at your own hotel. Be sure to plan ahead for dinner. read more

It's a members preferred lounge. The loophole to getting in here is to be a guest of the hotel (which applies to me). Whenever members arrive, the bartender or waitstaff would bring the contents of their locker to their seat. I thought that was cool. The cigar selection is minimal and is roughly 3 times the price of the box price; but that was expected, it being the Ritz and all. For food, I highly recommend the Fish Tacos; they were delicious. The burger was decent. I'll be sure to book the Ritz whenever I am in St. Louis. read more

Great atmosphere! Its a traditional cigar bar located in the Ritz. You must either be a member or a guest of the hotel to get in, as it is private. The food is good. The bar tenders are great! I am rating this a 5, not because I will continue to come back everyday or join....but because of how much I saw the people enjoying themselves here yesterday. If I could rationalize affording it or using it weekly, I would be in heaven. Very attentive staff, will take care of your every need, comfortable seating, classy people, great TV's, great place to conduct business, valets kept my car out front (was very glad I had it detailed in the morning, considering the Ritz location and clientele). One of my partners/friends is a member and holds court here every afternoon, so i met him for some drinks. He is the mayor of this place which added to the experience. End of story - if you want to hob-knob with the glitz and glamor and unwind in a classy setting, I doubt there are better places in a "Mad Men" type of environment in STL or Clayton. read more

Even though I don't particularly enjoy cigars or the smell of them, I really loved this cigar lounge. Being the Ritz, it's obviously extremely upscale and classy. The lounge is for members and hotel guests only. I really felt like I was in the show "Boardwalk Empire" hanging out in a basement drinking during prohibition, especially since smoking inside is banned in most places but it's somehow allowed in this private lounge. I loved the exquisitely fancy wall filled with cubby's and gold nameplates for each member. I was overall very impressed and hope to go back soon. read more

Sorry to say my first ever yelp review is a bad one. However, my experience at the Ritz Cigar bar was a first. Met some nice gentlemen at the bar who offered to buy my friend, my brother and I a drink. We chatted with the guys about an hour and a half, during which time they ordered us another round - unsolicited by us. At one point, another friend showed up and they ordered him a drink as well. Yet another man approached our group and offered to get us a drink. So by 10pm, I have yet to order myself a drink, or anyone in my group. None of us had even approached the bar. The men who had been ordering us drinks said goodbye and left, and my group decided to stay for one more. I order two scotches from the bartender and handed him my card. He runs it and returns with a bill for $147.00. He had put each drink that each of us consumed on our tab. Even though we had not ordered them, nor did we request any of them from these men. I said, "im sorry, I only drank 2 whiskeys", he responded, "Well Tim ordered 2 for you guys... "Ok so put those on Tims tab?? He took off two of the whiskeys. I said "and what about the other drinks on here, those guys were ordering them." He said, "Well no one else in here is drinking that so its obviously yours." I didnt want to cause a scene so I just paid it and left. Ive never been to a bar where a guy has offered to buy me drinks, and the bartender WITHOUT ever speaking to me runs a tab for me with drinks I didnt order. Did I drink them? Yes. Did I pay the tab? Yes. But a bartender should charge the person who orders the drinks. Otherwise I could order a round for the whole bar and tell him to put it on each of their tabs. If I wouldnt have approached him to order the TWO drinks, i never would have even known I had a tab. Lucky him. NEVER again. Poor etiquette. read more

Upscale as you would expect.......I'm rating the hotel lobby bar along with this....very nice even though I don't smoke.

A great spot for relaxing after dinner, for entertaining clients, or watching a game. All of the food menus of the hotel are available. I believe it is the only place in Clayton which allows smoking. It is a private club, only for members and hotel guests, but they offer a cover charge/day pass of $50 per person to access the club. The staff is very attentive and the members are very welcoming. A fantastic cigar lounge in downtown Clayton located in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Awesome, upscale location with lots of great shops and restaurants around the hotel. Lounge is designed for annual membership holders or hotel guests, so you'll not be guaranteed access unless you are with one of them. However, there are special events and exceptions. One of the ONLY cigar lounges in St. Louis now that smoking is largely banned--this place is one of the best cigar bars anywhere. Many business travelers stay at the Ritz just to use the cigar lounge. Great selection of cigars and walls lined with expensive oak humidor cabinets. Drinks are strong and selection is all top-shelf. Wine list is also solid. You can order from the dinner menu during restaurant hours and they will deliver to the lounge. TVs are great for sports nights and you may see Cardinals and celebrities any night at the lounge. There is a side room that is more light and airy and has a large table for business groups, meetings or your private card game. The only negative is that it is quite smokey, but that's why you are here. Hotel is fantastic old-school charm. Lobby bar at hotel is very nice and has live music on weekends. Great sushi. So you can do the lively lobby bar and cigar lounge all in the same night. Truly a gem. read more

We had family staying here from out of town and at 8p at night after traveling, eating in the lounge seemed the easiest thing to do. My husband and my father-in-law ordered the fish tacos and seemed to enjoy them! I ordered Grilled Medjool Dates. I glanced at the menu, saw the words dates and bacon and just decided that they meant bacon-wrapped dates. Haha! I was wrong! I received a small bowl full of dates that had been cut in half and grilled, bits of cambozola, squares of thick cut bacon and hazelnuts. So, all in all, this was an absolutely delicious dish! How could it not be with all the right ingredients? I have to say that the hazelnuts were the best surprise! Their particular brand of nutty flavor was the perfect balance to the sweetness of the dates. I certainly wouldn't be against getting this wonderful dish again. However, I have to say that I really prefer the date to bacon to cheese ratio that I get out of bacon-wrapped dates (I need more salty to balance out the sweet). read more
