When I first heard of this place I thought it was great Winder was finally getting fine dining but having tried it once all I can say is I loved everything but the food. The decor is lovely and the staff are friendly. The food was just pretentious and bland. I ordered the pork osso bucco and it came out overcooked dry, tough, and bland. The risotto my pork shank sat on was also completely inedible. It had a sour component running through it that offended my senses like they cooked a whole lemon peel (not just the zest) with it. I'll give their lunch a try before I completely write them off but I won't be back for dinner. read more

If you look at the posters of bad reviews here, they leave negative marks absolutely everywhere they go or do not understand that when an ingredient that costs $22 alone, and then cooked and sold for $30-that it is actually reasonably priced. I am happy that there is a place in Winder that actually has a real working chef. They serve good drinks, a good changing menu with great flavor profiles and is reasonably priced. I am always satisfied when I eat here. Solid joint. This place is really the best place to eat in Winder and is about as upscale as it gets in this town. Believe it or not their roasted chicken is one of their tastiest most flavory dishes. And it's a whole bird, small roaster. It tastes great. I've had nearly everything on the menu as I've eaten here a lot. Wait staff is really good and they make great drinks. I'm so happy a place like this exists in Winder. It's more of an Atlanta restaurant in a small, sleepy town. The chef is a cool dude as he's come out and chatted before. Really down to earth guy with some nice recipes up his sleeve. I can't complain about the place as I've been there for brunch, lunch and dinner. They do what they do well and I recommend the place. I went with 4 other ladies for lunch and were extremely disappointed. The fish and chips were ok and the hamburger good. However, two of us ordered the $16 lobster roll and it had no taste at all. It was served on what looked like a hot dog bun and was so bland that even more lemon juice didn't do the trick. We told the waitress and when we were about ready to leave she mentioned that the chef had "apologized" but the way it was handled left us feeling like they thought we were lying. No offer of a discount or comp'd desert ... not even a visit from a manager, To add insult, I posted about our experience on their Facebook page and they didn't have the courtesy to apologize then either. They lost at least 5 diners that day as well as other people that it was mentioned to (our family and friends). When you pay top dollar for dinner you expect top quality food. NEVER again. read more

Wonderful farm to table selection. Met a friend here to celebrate my birthday. We had several small plates: baked Brie, Asian bbq calamari, grilled shrimp and a variety of delicious breads with a side salad. I've been three times now, and every time I'm both impressed and let down. The decor is lovely; the size is intimate; the music is usually good; the food, however, is iffy. Today I had brunch. Before my meal arrived, I was served two small muffins, which were cute and fine. One is usually bran in nature, and the other is a surprise. Today's was just a standard corn muffin, but they were both good. On to the meal, the scrambled eggs were standard but fine. The biscuit, as always, was well-done, which I prefer. It was warm, crunchy, and thick...but lacking in flavor, so I requested some strawberry jam. The crunch on top and bottom really was quite good though, so overall it was a win. The bacon, which they cure there, was burnt but somehow still not crispy; I don't care for chewy bacon, but I ate it. The home fries were decent - nothing to write home about; shoestring in nature, presented in one of those tall bucket-things with lots of added herbs. The sauces that came with the home fries were, I believe: a homemade ketchup with bacon infusion, a garlic aioli, and a srirachi concoction. The ketchup was the best one, but that might have been because it was actually cold; the temperature really added a nice refreshing kick. The garlic aioli was bland, unappetizing, and warm. My olfactory senses indicated the srirachi sauce was not for me. I also had the grits, which honestly just weren't very good at all. They advertise that their grits are "aged," but if that's aged, they need new. Good grits can really set a place apart from the hoi polloi (see Mama's Boy in Athens). I also had coffee, water, and a sangria. You can get the sangria in white or red, and I've had both. They are good, but they do not have fruit in them, which is a real disappointment. Good authentic sangria should have fruit, which soak up the wine and are delicious(ly boozy) to eat when finished with the drink. I will also add that I was nowhere near buzzed. The coffee and water were fine. The last time I went I had the biscuits and gravy, and it was unappetizing in both appearance and taste. I expect sausage gravy to be white, not beige. It also shouldn't be greasy. If I'm being honest, I gave most of that to my dog when I got home. Look. I'm still going to eat there. It's the best restaurant Winder has to offer, and I REALLY want this place to succeed. I just need for them to hone some of their details. Add some milk or something to the eggs for added fluffiness. Get the bacon crispy. Find some creamier grits. Add some fruit to the sangria. Leave the biscuit alone unless you're adding some herbs for flavor (maybe garlic?). My spouse and I had an amazing experience at Bistro Off Broad. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was some of the best we've ever experienced. The creativity of their chefs and their locally sourced ingredients will provide you with a truly unique farm-to-table dining experience (Caramelized Vidalia onion tart topped with balsamic AND gelato....it was AMAZING). Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes and the artistry of the chefs. In addition, our waiter, the bartender, and the restaurant manager were all very friendly and took the time to chat with us about our experience and answered our questions. What an unexpected gem in downtown Winder. My hubby and I went to dinner here tonight for date night. Everything was perfect. We had reservations at 7:00. They promptly took us to our table. Our waitress was very friendly and had great recommendations. We ordered blue point oysters and deviled eggs for appetizers. They were some of the best oysters I've had. My husband ordered the filet mignon and potato puree. He enjoyed it. I ordered the bone-in pork chop with Dijon mustard sauce and sweet potato puree and grilled radicchio. Second best pork chop I've ever had (first is in St. Simon's Island) and the radicchio was ridiculously tasty. Had the chocolate torte for dessert. Delicious! The red sangria was awesome as well. It's okay. I hate to review a place off of one visit but we will likely never be back so it's this or nothing. My wife and I started with the Poutine which was very good, the portion is huge and is enough for a meal on its own. The meal was lost at the entrees for my wife and I. I went with scallops and grits and my wife went with the Porchetta. Mine was rough, the different temperatures of the food was very off, the grits were right under luke warm, the scallops were warm, and the tomatoes were cold so as a combination it was just a mess. It was just not good unfortunately. My wifes Porchetta was odd, the pork was very over cooked, as my wife explained it to me, it was drier than the pork she cooks. We ended up eating about two-three bites each and left. It was a bummer, I was so looking forward to finding another good restaurant in the area. read more

Don't skip the calamari! Ribeye was a bit small but tasted great. The chicken was fantastic and juicy. The filet was small and delicious. The pasta was plentiful and tasty. The brie was sweet. The calamari was the best I've ever had - don't expect it fried like ones you've had before. The deviled eggs had a mustard flavor. We asked for vanilla ice cream on the peach cobbler - a nice finish to a great meal. If you enjoy seafood, don't skip the calamari. read more

Stopped for a Saturday brunch. Cute little bistro right off the main broad street in winder. Honestly I would have never thought a restaurant like this would be in winder. Based on the quaint location, the inside decor and the food is very upscale without being snobby. The food is definitely chef inspired and farm to table. The prices are high but not totally unreasonable for the fresh, chef created food. My husband and I had slab of bacon for a starter. It was delicious though there wasn't much meat on it. I had the eggs Benedict with pancetta. It was. Wet good. The hollandaise was very rich and a little spicy. My husband had the croquet monsieur which was also very good. Overall, the food was good but it felt too rich. I think we needed something acidic to cut the richness. He had a mimosa so that helped, but I opted for a soda. Because of us have a sweet tooth, we order creme brûlée and strawberry shortcake. WOW. If you're not sure if you'll have room for dessert, then skip something to make room. They were outstanding! The shortcake dessert was especially good with a great mix of flavors of pound cake, balsamic strawberries, gelato, and whipped cream. Creme brûlée was really good too. Wow! Yummy desserts. Overall, 4 stars for the mains and 5 stars for the desserts and great service. I will definitely be back. Would love to try dinner here. Also plan to just come sometime for desserts and drinks. Very contemporary on the inside, with a perfect size menu (not too big, and not tiny). Food was pretty good, I think pretty much everything is made in-house which is a plus. Really good atmosphere! The food was great and the French fries were off the chain! We ordered a side of fries for $5 and are going home with a huge boxful of leftover fries! The garlic sauce served with them is also great! We stopped in for a late lunch around three and sat next to the bar (which is beautiful) our food was out quickly and my marinated mushrooms with French bread tasted fantastic. In a town where your options are limited to BBQ and McDonalds this place is top notch ! Can't wait to come back for supper. read more

The greeting was pleasant, decor was upscale and inviting, our server was very personable and the chef put food on our table that was more than I expected. The shrimp & grits were enjoyed by one of my guest and she gave a thumbs up. The hamburger was said to be delicious by another. My Cesar Salad was one of the best I have had in a while. Been here three times, first time was lovely, we sat at the bar. Second time was nice, service was ok and the food was good. Third time however was really disappointing. We brought my parents in (they were visiting from Ca) our server was inconsistent, she would disappear for long amounts of time, and when we would see her and try to flag her down she ignored us (they were not busy). My Moms Trout and Succotash was bland, everything else was mediocre not on par with what we had previously experienced. We decided to order dessert, we got a classic creme brûlée and the creme brûlée sampler, ALL came burnt. And I don't mean a little, I mean they were black on top!! We sent them back and were told that they were out of creme brûlée.... wow. They took it off our check (better have since we didn't get anything) no one came to apologize, not a manager nothing. I'm no longer recommending this place, my in laws are in town now and we won't be taking them. Hope they improve and we can return. Three stars is only for past positive experiences. read more

The only ones dining. Ribeye had so much fat it was inedible. It came with sunny fries and a salad for $30. I requested a sirloin and I'm not certain what the price would have been for that. Everyone was finished when the waitress returned to say it was cooking so I told her to provide it to go. When I opened the box and cut into the steak at home it too had too much fat. I don't understand why they don't offer an excellent filet mignon. I pay attention to all reviews and allowing the review from 07/14/17 to be posted with "and please don't pay attention to the few people..." is, in my opinion, inappropriate. I can not find meanings for the dollar signs, however, I would certainly give it at least $$$. read more
