Our visit to Bistro Saint Dominique was nice, but nothing special. We were hungry after a full day of sightseeing and ended near the Eiffel Tower. It was raining so we thought we'd just go to one of the restaurants that we'll pass by on our walk to our hotel and stumbled upon this little bistro. They had a good amount of people eating there already and we thought we'd just follow the crowd and checked it out. We were quite starving so we decided to go for something easy and picked off of the meal deal they had going on (I believe it was 3 course meal for 30 euros) and you had a limited amount of items you can choose from. Per usual we were started off with a basket of bread and butter (which was fantastic, literally my favorite thing about every restaurant in France) then proceeded to our starters. I forgot about the names of the dishes but one was a meat mixture with outer breading and the other was a stew with mushrooms and eggs. The mushrooms and eggs tasted okay, nothing remarkable and we ate it with the bread which made it good. As for our main dishes, I got a white pasta while my husband got the salmon dish. The pasta was okay, a little on the drier side and per usual, a bit flavorless. My husband's salmon was also quite flavorless so he was picking off my pasta for a good amount of the dinner. We definitely have different tastebuds as Americans so I just attributed it to that. Overall, my husband and I's favorite were the desserts which were crème brûlée and chocolate pudding. Our last meal in Paris before we headed back home could've been better. Sadly it wasn't meant to be. A star for their setup, and a star for their friendliness, but everything else was average. Food took over 35-mins to arrive, and it was very mediocre. The Angus steak listed under their "Exceptional meats" section was the worst steak one can ever have. No seasoning whatsoever and the béarnaise sauce was exceptionally forgettable. The pasta with lobster was throughly enjoyed, but the kiddie pasta lacked butter. I'm amazed this place has good reviews. I can't comment on the food, but I've never been treated more rudely at any dining establishment in my life. I've traveled to multiple different countries and haven't experienced anything like this. I've also been a server at a restaurant myself and would've never considered treating a customer the way we were treated. We walked up to the restaurant and several servers were around but nobody spoke to us despite them not being busy. There was no clear place to check in so my husband started roaming trying to find someone to help us after waiting an inordinate amount of time. Finally someone made eye contact and my husband kindly asked, "Is there a table for two?" We were met with a sarcastic, rude comment about how we didn't greet him properly. Amazing! Was suggested this place while on our trip to Paris and I think the service made this place what it is today! We visited end of September during Fashion Week and they treated us as if we were the celebrities in the area. The staff is friendly and the location is ideal (5 min from the Eiffel Tower). When you're that close, you come to expect poor service and mid food. The service was adequate and the food was relatively good (not insanely good, but not insanely priced, either). It was a really "not bad" dining experience, but more towards so-so than towards wow. Four of us. We had a variety of plates: Sausage, shredded beef burger, duck and braised beef. Each dish was ok. Like home cooking really. I wasn't overwhelmed that the mashed potatoes were a box of flakes with water/milk/butter added. However, the fries and fried potatoes were really good. The service is French, as to say, not friendly nor attentive, but just around you enough to let you know you are bothering them. Would I go back. No. Was it terrible. As an American in Paris I had to have at least one cheese burger and friends, chocolate cake and cheese. Let's start with the burrata. The tomato confit with the creamy cheese was perfect. The cheeseburger was interesting. It needed alittle more salt. The cheese didn't add anything. The fries were a mix of crunchy and soggy but they hit the spot after drinking a lot of wine. The chocolate cake...was just ok. The service was great. I enjoy europe..no one bothers you a million times. The only part I didn't enjoy was sitting next to a guy who was smoking. AMERICANS BEWARE! Food was awful. Nearly everything was flavorless and if there was flavors... it was not good. We ordered the onion soup, skate, croque monsiuer, and angus steak. The steak was ordered medium rare and was served well done. The skate was all bones and the flavor was way off. The croque monsiuer was cold in the middle, cheese was not melted at all. Service was fine, the staff is clearly working too many tables. I think I saw two servers for the entire restaurant. Ambiance is great... and maybe that's what got us in this case. read more

We stumbled across this restaurant after watching the light show at the Eiffel Tower and it was one of the few places that were open Christmas Day so we chose to eat here on our first day in Paris. They had a fixed menu at 55 euros pp which included an app, main and dessert. The place is cozy with tables near one another and overall the service was nice. The food however was pretty mediocre. We started with complimentary bread and started with a truffle dip and scallops for apps. These were both pretty good and our favorites of the night. For entrees we got baked salmon with veggies and chicken casserole. Both were just ok and the chicken casserole came with a mushroom cream sauce that was pretty plain. For dessert we got fruit (really a fruit salad that wasn't very fresh) and chocolate cake. This spot is in a great area but I would say for food it's more of a tourist trap. If you have the time, it's best to eat elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately, some of the tables are right across from the huge trash cans and with the wind their odor is in the air. The food is mediocre. The stairway which leads to the bathroom is very steep and could be dangerous. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken and empty. If you would like to experience the real Parisian night, full of lights and romantic music in a cozy little Bistro.. Come here!!! Food was excellent, servers are very nice. Tip them at the beginning and you will be treated like a prince. (I recommend you to do this anywhere in Paris) Excellent Champagne (but it should be colder) and great atmosphere. This was a wonderful place for lunch on a Sunday afternoon after church. Our friends in Paris took us here for a great meal. The menu had many options but we selected for the combination menu with drink, main course and dessert. We enjoy our table by the window and were able to catchup without being rushed. By far the most gorgeous cafe we've ever been to. Just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower, you'll find the most aesthetically pleasing space to relax and hang out in. The best part of this space is the stairwell into the bathroom. I've never seen anything so grand and quaint! Let me preface by saying that after walking way too long to find this place since I was lost I was overjoyed that this place had great food & slow but great service!( Being slow in customer service seemed to be a theme in Europe.) We each decided to order off the Prix Fix Menu since the prices were decent. To start off I had a Caesar salad. This was made with fresh iceberg lettuce and nice slices of chicken . I thought the portion was just right, not too big or not too small.To accompany this we also had the fried cheese filled empanada. I really liked to spicy mayonnaise sauce that accompanied this dish. Since I was tired of always ordering Duck confit at other French Restaurants I had the Cheeseburger that was overrun with fries. It was good, large and very hearty no complaints here. I had to share my fries since there was too much. My sister had the salmon with mashed potatoes. This things looked tiny, but she was happy since she was not in the mood to eat too much. For Dessert I had the brownie and scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also had the cup of cappucino to top it all off and I was completely stuffed but satisfied. Besides the unique location of the restaurant in the square I particularly liked the upstairs area where the restrooms were. The staircase was beyond me though. It was a tiny winding staircase that can only have one lane of traffic. The upstairs area felt like someone's intimate living room fit for entertaining. I could see this place being rented out for a private occasion. So intimate even for a special date. Bistro Saint Dominique was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Paris. As the name would tell you, the restaurant is located on Rue Saint Dominique, but is set back from the actual street/all the other restaurants. We opted to eat outside since the weather was absolute perfection, and had a prime view of the fountain/all the tourists taking pictures by the fountain. This was the only experience I had while eating in Paris where I was able to speak French to our wonderful server the entire time, which I greatly appreciated (since clearly I am not fluent and staff usually switched over to English upon hearing me drive the struggle bus to attempt to communicate - it was really nice to be able to practice/gain confidence with speaking only French for an evening). The menu itself was in French, but had English "subtitles" underneath, which allowed my husband the confidence to also find options without having to either have me translate/use Google translate. The staff all spoke English, as we heard them fluently communicate with others at different tables, and the accommodation of the French/English menu is a welcomed plus. We noticed, as we did everywhere we dined in Paris, that making the attempt to speak French, even if it's just to say hello/ask for a table, went a LONG way in terms of service. The couple next to us came in, barked that they wanted a table outside (in English), and were still treated well, but not as warmly as my husband and I were. In keeping with our Paris dining tradition, we ordered a bottle of Bordeaux, then settled in on our entrees (starters). My husband started with the oven grilled French onion soup, that he said was the best of his entire life, and I began with the tartare de thon (tuna tartare), which was so fresh, so beautifully plated, and incredibly seasoned. My mouth is watering right now at the thought of that perfect, raw tuna deliciousness. For our main courses, my husband went for the pasta with truffles and ham, which was essentially an elevated, beautiful macaroni and cheese with truffle and pieces of ham. He devoured the entire bowl, and said it was incredible (he resisted from licking the bowl, so props to him as well for that restraint). I kept a similar theme from my entree, and ordered the tataki de thon, a huge portion of seared tuna with rice and a beautiful soy glazed sauce. The portion size was perfect, the food all fresh, and throughout the entire meal, the service could not have been better. Not wanting to leave just yet, we ordered the chocolat mousse noir, which arrived in a jar, and was the most amazing consistency. I'm not usually a big dessert person, but this was my dream dessert - not too sweet, but still delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the Bordeaux. Honestly, I will recommend Bistro Saint Dominique to everyone - I cannot say enough positive things about this dining experience. The duck was tough, but sauce flavor was very tasty. Escargots were decent. Ordered the Steak for 2; thought it was $35 total, but missed the part that the cost was per person. So we ended up with a 110 Euro dinner bill; my bad. Steak was tasty and cooked to medium rare like I requested. Located in an upscale part of Paris roughly ten minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower. We came here on our last day in Paris to get something quick to eat. Our croissants, coffee and orange juices were all extremely fresh. The service was extremely quick, the food is very well priced, our servers all spoke English and were very friendly. I can't say this for a lot of the restaurants we visited in Paris, so great job! Bistro Saint Dominique is also a great place for in door and outdoor seating. They also have free wifi. The server will give you the password when you get a menu. My wife and I are looking forward to coming back in a few months. read more

Is it me? Is it just Paris?? or is the service in Paris reaaaally slow?? We got seated upstairs as soon as we got there with no wait... so OK. off to a good start. We got our server right away and within 10 min, we have decided on a set menu and our order was put in. I thought it took a bit long for each course to come out. Whenever we asked for water or asked for service it took a very long time to get their attention or they would forget what we've asked. We ordered a bottle of wine which took about 30 mins to come out so we were sitting at an empty table for 30 min as we sipped on our small glass of wine which wasn't refilled until the end of the meal... anyway, our 3 course meal consisted of Fois Gras Pate which was a bit too salty for my taste, a perfectly Medium Rare Ribeye steak and Brie Cheese for desert for 25euros. Not a bad deal at all~ I also tried escargot that my boyfriend ordered... it was delicious, but I've had better in the US. Great deal, good food, but nothing too special. We did our impromptu New Year's Eve dinner here. The plan was to hope and pray that the Les Cocottes line wouldn't be too dastardly of a wait. Instead, the restaurant was unfortunately closed (dang you, random Internet forum!) and the wait at Cafe Constant looked unbearably crowded. A block away, Bistro St. Dominique was happy enough to take us sans reservation, and we were promptly seated outdoors under the protection of some lovely (and quite warm) heat lamps. The prix fixe menu was a pricey but not wholly unreasonable 49 Euro, which we happily paid for some good food, general warmth, and good company. The menu was solid and actually hit the spot for all of us. Sorbet, cheese, or a molten chocolate cake rounded out the dinner, and left us all satisfied. Judging from the reviews, this place is quite English-friendly, and I agree. Our Service was great and the menu was really easy to understand as English speakers. Our server came and was very helpful explaining our questions about plates and wines. He suggested a very delicious wine which we enjoyed a lot.
