Just had the 1/2 chicken/house salad combo ($20 after tip). The lady told me it was the last 1/2 and I've had the chicken there before and it was pretty good so I went for it. I walked 30 minutes to get there because I don't have a car and like to get my steps in for the day. When I got home and tried it, the top skin of the chicken was like jerky and the rest of it was dry as cardboard. Even the let and thigh were dry. Absolutely TERRIBLE. I'm not even sure why they would sell something like that. It's like going to a restaurant and the cook burns the crap out of your food and serves and charges you for it anyway. Money is tight these days so it sucks getting ripped off. The quality of this was soooo ridiculously bad, I could only give it one star. Quality pricing too for the sandwiches.They make the sandwiches fresh on the spot- stays open pretty late so a good spot for grabbing a late night sandwich. Nicely sauced sandwich with good fresh bread and reasonable amount of stuffing but not overstuffed. Has been hit and miss sometimes with their sandwiches but the roast beef and the turkey ones we got recently were delicious. Tasty cookies also at the checkout to grab for the sweet toothed sandwich lovers. Then night I went to grab a sandwich I asked about the rotisserie chicken but they only had 1/2 a chicken that might have been there for a while for the new batch of chickens were half roasting. I enjoyed the size of the sandwich until I bit into it. The entire fillings kept coming out and I realized that I couldn't tell what flavors I was tasting. There were too many flavors going on in my mouth. I mean, to some maybe that would be fantastic. Then I didn't like eating it all apart because I couldn't eat the whole sandwich together. I'm grateful that there is a sandwich place that fills a sandwich however for my own preference I like a sandwich together not fallen apart. I love sandwiches so much and when my friend found this place nearby, I was absolutely over the moon to try something new! I debated a custom make-your-own but instead went for the vegan "Vegetarian Bite" sandwich. The sandwich came with sundried tomatoes for tang, pickles for sour, delicious roasted peppers and avocado, plus hummus on a wheat roll. It was thick and dense and so full of veggies, I ate the entire thing in one sitting. Between the rest of us, we got a turkey wrap, a turkey dutch crunch, and the chicken gouda sandwich, and everyone was so happy with their dinner. I'm surprised Bite is opened until 2am! We came on a weekday around 5 pm and ordered 3 sandwiches. 1. Gooda Good $10.99 (chicken, gooda cheese and pepperhouse sauce on dutch crunch) 2. Vegetarian bite $9.99 (avocado, roasted peppers, button mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, red onions and hummus on wheat roll) 3. New Yok New York $11.99 (pastrami, bacon and swiss cheese on sourdough roll) All of the speciality sandwiches come toasted. There was also a tiny sign that said if you pay in cash, there's an automatic 3% discount (I think it was 3%...or 3.99%). Not sure if that's truly the case because they told us the amount even before they knew what form of payment we were going to pay with. When we said cash, the amount remained the same. I asked if my sandwich could be made with a different type of bread, which they were initially happy to accommodate...but then told me that they were running low on bread and unable to make the adjustment. I appreciate the effort and understand, but how do you run low on bread if you close at 2am? Regardless, our sandwiches all tasted pretty basic. We ended up making our own spicy avocado pesto sauce to spread on the sandwiches in an effort to get more flavor. Gravitating toward the Tendernob is something local know better to navigate, but there are small rewards like this compact spot that serves salads, wraps, and lots of hot sandwiches. Two women toil in here tirelessly, and there's really no place to sit inside. That means dealing with the vehicular fumes and gawking foot traffic out on the sidewalk on Sutter. I was fine with that as there was nobody else dining al fresco on the "patio". It was a big amount and could have been shared and dressing was good. Just very run of mill - almost could have gotten a better salad off a grocery shelf. Also got a custom sandwich ( no avocados available!) with roast beef, bacon, cheese, veggies and mustard. Good but nothing amazing. I just polished off a sando I've never tried here (Chickenapolis). I was looking for somewhere in the Uber Eats app to send feedback. Nope, nothing. Thought about calling them but then decided they're busy, they might appreciate it but ultimately they're just trying to get the orders out on time. So, here we are back on Yelp where the owner (Ike with no relation to the other one if I remember correctly) can spot it. I first reviewed this place way back in 2013. Hard to believe. I've been many times since but I immediately fell for the Gouda Good with jalapeños and was reluctant to try anything else. Eventually I tried the Sleeper with jalapeños and was astonished to find it was nearly as good. So, being one who sticks to what I know it's been a variation of those 2 over the years probably once a month or so. Today, I bit the bullet and finally dared to try something else. I ordered the Chickenapolis because it looks like a Greek deal and I love wheat bread so it seemed a little healthier than my go-tos. Wow. Just wow. That was a fantastic sando. Perfectly crunchy wheat roll / bread with the wonderful rotisserie chicken and excellent, superb feta, sauces, kalamata olives and veggies tucked in. I only write reviews these days when I'm left giddy from a meal. This is one of those times. Used to be a big fan of this place but, everything is getting sloppy now. Sandwiches are getting smaller but prices are always increasing.. You see few roaches here and there and come on I can't even eat a salad without worrying about chipping a tooth on chicken bones!! Once again very very disappointed!! Friendly staff, open late and fantastic food! My friend and I popped in before a concert and after looking over the menu decided to split the meatball sub, known here as Vinny's bag of donuts. This sub was delicious, perfect ratio of sauce to bread to meatball and perfect for sharing. I also grabbed a giant pickle-which was awesome- and was going to take one home before the concert security looked at me like I was crazy for having a whole pickle in my purse (I really like pickles). However, my whole Bite experience was a great one! It's a small space so try to have your order ready when you go in.
