10/10 The foundation of a great sandwich is bread. The bread was so good. Soft but with a chew. Stood up to a 30 ish minute ride back on BART. Tons of meat. So much I was worried the ratio would be off. Told a friend that I didn't think it would be good. It would just taste like meat. I was wrong. Coleslaw wasn't too creamy or too sweet. Just right. Only thing I would change is asking for more peppers, they were so good so bright. Waffle Fries were great waffle fries, but the Mick Sauce was beyond great. To me it was like the best tartar sauce I've ever had. Maybe better. I would probably get an extra Mick Sauce and use it on my Sandwich. Friend got the Bradly and gave it top marks. All three meat flavors came through, jalapeños had great flavor that added to the sandwich. It's not cheap, but it's damn good. Be prepared to wait in line. I arrived around 1:50 and ordered around 2:20. I'm sure there are busier times. 100 percent worth the wait. They played CAKE and the employees were fantastic. read more

Save yourself an hour and $30 this place is not worth it. Even if the sandwich tasted good, no sandwich is worth standing in a post soviet era line for. The pictures in the wall were overinflated and not accurate to the amount of meat each sandwich contains. A barely ample amount in the middle that thins out to plain bread towards the end. Taste was good, tender melt in your mouth meat, but the vibe was not it. They had a security guard standing outside telling you that you can't stand agains the wall on the public sidewalk to wait for your sandwich. read more

6/5!!! Hands down the BEST sandwich we've ever had -- and somehow the waffle fries were just as memorable. Literally some of the best fries we've ever had too! We ordered the 49er sandwich, and WOW. My partner is normally not the biggest fan of corned beef based on his experiences at Jewish delis, but I encouraged him to give this one a try. The cashier even told us the 49er was tied for their #1 sandwich, so we knew we had to go for it. No regrets whatsoever. Everything worked together perfectly -- the meats, cheese, cherry peppers, coleslaw, and sauces. SO GOOD. And DO NOT skip the waffle fries. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. They came with Thousand Island sauce and MAN... that sauce is CRACK. We could not stop dipping. We've actually walked past this place before and noticed there was always a line. They even have a security person helping manage the line, and he was super chill and friendly. The first time we walked by, he encouraged us to come back and give them a try -- glad we finally listened! We got lucky this time because the cashier mentioned the lines are usually much longer. We only waited about 10 minutes to order and another ~10 minutes for our sandwiches to come out, which was totally worth it. Just FYI, it's takeout only, so there's no indoor dining. We're already planning to come back and try another sandwich, although it's going to be VERY hard not to order the 49er again. 6/5. Sandwich perfection. Waffle fry perfection. Deli Boatd IS a premier sando shop, and the people waiting in line to order sandwiches, will all confirm just how amazing the sandwiches are. You easily will over here, people in front of you, behind you, etc., all deciding what they will be ordering, what they've had, and what they want to try. Like a feral animal, you will want to order everything, but you can't and you shouldn't. You definitely should order at least a couple of sandwiches, even if it's just for you. The sando's come with pickles. If you've ever had amazing deli food, where pickles were served, these pickles will take you back to that moment. We ordered the 49 er and the carzle. My friend wanted to come here. It was a huge line and we waited over 30 minutes. We arrived around 10am. The line went by somewhat quick. There were QR codes on the wall so we knew what we wanted to order while in line. We ordered and waited outside for the food. Unfortunately, it's overrated. The sandwiches are deliberately constructed in a way that makes them look huge in photos, but they are actually quite small. Very disappointing! I was only partially full after eating one, and I wasn't even that hungry to start off with. Also, the fact that you can't sit inside is woeful, but I suppose it might be a necessary tool to ward off the itinerant population of SoMa. read more

We were the first ones in line at 10:25am and pretty soon 50+ people were in line at 11am. They opened up and we got a Carzle and a sandwich that had avocado in it along with the waffle fries. The food was scrumptious and the pastrami is chopped up so finely that you could reslly taste every morsel with the sauces and soft bread. The pastrami got so salty at the end though. To treat yourself or not treat yourself to a $20+ sandwich, why the f not! I came here with a yelp friend to try a couple of things on their menu and it did not disappoint. We didn't really wait as we came early, but usually wait times can range from 40 minutes to an hour and a half depending on when you go. Do not go after 2 pm as they will probably not serve you as they close at 3 pm. I ordered the following sandwiches: +49er (corned beef, pastrami, brisket, white american cheese, cherry peppers, cole slaw, 1000 island, Board sauce, french roll - $24) - I found this to be tasty, but super rich. I wish there was more cole slaw or something more acidic to cut all of this meat. +Armando (turkey, bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, sprouts, pepperoncini blend, mayo, Board sauce, garlic french roll - $22) - I loved this so much. The turkey bacon avocado combo is a God send and the garlic french roll is the cherry on top. +Allison (pastrami, corned beef, cheddar, provolone, pepperoncini blend, cole slaw, 1000 island, cleveland brown mustard, french roll - $24) - I liked this more than the 49er sandwich as it had more cole slaw, but I would order some mick sauce on the side to pack more of a punch. I've long heard about the legendary Deli Board and figured it was finally time to try it! I strolled over on a Friday afternoon to stand in line and give it a shot. I would be prepared for a wait here (probably 20-30 minutes on average). Also, be warned that they may run out of specific types of meat if you arrive closer to closing. They were running low on roast beef by the time we made it to the front of the line. Once we made it to the front everything moved pretty smoothly. My group ordered two 49ers and an order of waffle fries. Our food took about 10 minutes to come out. Now the sandwich itself... was excellent. Definitely worth the hype. Juicy, flavorful brisket and corned beef with cherry peppers to add a nice lil kick. The sandwich was stuffed with meat and toppings and quite filling. I also appreciated how they went with a standard French roll instead of the Dutch crunch you'd typically see at a sandwich shop. I think the bread selection allowed the meat to stand out. This was such an amazing sandwich! We visited on my most recent SF visit after a friend saw some rave reviews for it online. There was a looooong line on a Sunday afternoon. We waited around 45 minutes to place our order which came out soon after! The line snakes around the side of the restaurant (so come on a sunny day) and the inside is a small little space to place your order at the counter. The sandwiches are huge - we decided to split one which was a good call. We opted for the Armando sandwich - the warm sandwich had such a lovely crunch to the bread and I adored the filling inside. The avocado was a lovely touch and I adored the sauces inside! We found a nearby park to enjoy our sandwiches which seemed to be a popular choice! They have a really cool system once we placed our order our 4 sandwiches came out 10 mins later. Now to the sandwich. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Since I was staying within walking distance and knew they were famous for premium ingredients, I had to give it a go. I arrived around 11:30 AM on a Sunday so while the line was long, it moved at a steady pace. They balance a core menu with daily specials called the Chairman's Corner. I ordered three sandwiches that were packed with high quality meats. The bread on all of them was fresh and sturdy enough to hold up against the juicy fillings without getting soggy. The 555 ($23, regular menu) was the winner. It was packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. Tangy from the pepperoncini blend and pickles, salty but not overly so, with a lovely mild sweetness from their "Board Sauce." The Freddie ($23 special) was a turkey-based sandwich that was good, but didn't quite hit the flavor heights of the 555. The Bradley ($24, regular menu) was a beef trifecta of pastrami, brisket, and corned. Like the Freddie, it was high quality, but flavor wise it felt more good than great. These are expensive sandwiches. While I knew the cost going in, $23-$24 for a sandwich makes this a once in a while experience rather than a regular indulgence (unless you're pulling in a high Bay Area salary!) It was absolutely worth the experience for the quality and the fantastic staff, but my wallet will need a break before the next try. On a non food note...Everyone was incredibly nice, but the owner truly went above and beyond. He was outside at the sole table doing an interview, yet he didn't hesitate to jump up and guide a wandering unhoused person off the busy street to make sure she was safe. He gave her a drink and some chips and told her to be careful of the cars. That kind of genuine care for the community says a lot about the heart of this business. read more

Always wanted to try this place. I'm a huge fan of sandwiches. I never missed going to Katz while in NY. I was practically raised on Molinari and Freddie's. Well now I have the time. I dropped off my car at the mechanic and he said it will take about 2 hours. Perfect, "I'm going to Deli Board." Walked 4 blocks, got in line, met this cool kid behind me. Kinda reminded me of my son. The park across the street had a district supervisor's rally or something. Back to the story. It took exactly one hour to get your sandwich. Where do I begin!! The line is long for a reason. This sandwich was sooo good! But don't forget to arrive earlier that 2pm. The first time I tried coming here, I was turned away. I got here around 1 and it was around an hour wait, but worth it. The pastrami in both the Allison and 49er were top notch. I love that it's house made and not overly salty. Small, dry sandwiches that'll cost you over $25?! No thank you. We waited in line for about 30 minutes after 1 PM. They even have security regulating the crowd, which honestly felt a little excessive. Every time you get slightly too close to the store or aren't standing exactly where they want you, security is right there telling you to move or that you're standing in line incorrectly. I get that they probably do this because of the area and to keep certain people away and maybe it's working because I didn't see any issues... but being ordered around while waiting for a sandwich was unnecessary and annoying. As for the food, the deli meat is definitely good quality, but the sandwiches are small, dry, and honestly all taste the same. We got the 49ers, Bradley, and another sandwich, and I could barely tell the difference between them. For $25+ per sandwich and a 30-minute wait, I was expecting something much more memorable. During the whole thing, the owner was coming in and out managing the line, cleaning up the side walk, cracking jokes with kind of the rough east coast no bs kinda vibe and I loved it. During all this when I was in the line inside the store that was filled with some cool alternate yoga deco, I guess another guy in line outside got randomly punched in the face, and the guy in front of me turned out to be a SF sheriff. So when people found out, the reaction was pretty fast and bunch of SFPD showed up pretty quickly. The owner offered the guy some free sandwich and all and gave another random homeless girl that was there some chips too, while making a joke about all the cops were finally out to arrest him. Anyway, I got the 49er and the waffle fries and I gotta say the sandwich was absolutely packed with meat. So much so, it was a bit too much for me, where I'd loved a bit more slaw in terms of ratio. But I do get the appeal of the meat mountain. I did appreciate the quality and the juiciness of it. Also, the waffle fries were generously packed to the point where it was enough to share with 2 or 3 people. They were perfect amount of crisp fried in fresh oil and went great with their sauce. All of it came out to be more than $50 bucks which again, a bit much for me. So I think I'll just get the sandwich next time. I get the cult following and I might comeback for more. Being born & raised in the Bay, you sometimes will be surprised when you haven't heard of a place that's well known & popular for years. That really speaks to just how many different spots there are, especially in San Francisco, where even City locals don't know them all. The videos I was seeing on this place from all the sports media people I follow had me salivating to come and try this place. We had an event to come to the City for on Friday March 20th and finally could make it happen. This spot is located in the SoMa district on Folsom near Russ. Now onto the sandwiches. The 49er would be the sandwich I'd say was easily the most shown in people's videos when bragging about coming here. It's got pastrami, brisket, & corn beef, then for fixings, 1,000 island dressing, cherry peppers, house made cole slaw, American cheese. I'm not the biggest corn beef guy, so I had my mind made up on a different sandwich..... The Carzle. This comes with Brisket, pastrami, provolone cheese, cherry peppers, board sauce, & on a garlic french roll. When you first bite your teeth into one of these things it's awesome. Bread is hot, fresh, as are the ingredients to the sandwich. They also what it seems like is chop the meat into very small pieces, actually an underrated feature when you think about it. When you make a sandwich at home, or a chain makes one for you, usually your bites, they're sometimes followed by you ripping the meat to get the bite in your mouth, here there's none of that, one bite and you're getting a mix of all the stuff listed on the menu. The Wifey ended up getting the a.stud, which has pastrami, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, avocado, cole slaw, Board sauce, on a garlic French Roll. One thing I'll say was the jals on here were a nice touch, gave the sandwich the perfect kick. I also loved the concentration being 1 meat here as well, awesome awesome pastrami. We split these 2 sandwiches. Man, I was in heaven. I couldn't pass up the Carzle, I'm a huge sucker for brisket, it's my favorite meat along with a good ribeye or filet, but those are my top 3. Cherry peppers are so good on a sandwich in my opinion, I thought the board sauce tasted like maybe a mayo/light oil mix? , only thing I'd change would be from provolone to cheddar or white cheddar. Fave thing about these was how easy they were to eat-bread was soft but had good thickness, meat & other fillings plentiful but not spilling out, sauce was present but not soaking thru. After seeing many posts and hoopla about this place, we decided to give it a whirl! Parking was easy, turn left at the next corner. Don't mind the construction Honeybuckets. Waited in line for 20 minutes. Placed our order and then waited another 15ish to receive it. We ordered three of their popular sandwiches and the fries. The sandwiches were fresh and as described. The meats and breads were fresh and the cheeses were melty with a nice pull. The barrel style chopped pickles were a nice addition! It was a beautiful day today- the weather was perfect. We enjoyed our lunch in a tailgate picnic. Our only -side eye- was paying nearly $80 (not including the fries) for three sandwiches. I came at opening (11am) and there was already a pretty huge line formed, I ended up waiting a total of one hour to order and get my food. Ordered: - 49er (no cheese, sub for Dutch crunch) - 555 (pickles on the side) - waffle fries The 49er was delicious! The pastrami was amazing, and it's packed with meat. The 555 was delicious as well, I felt like it was creamier and also the turkey cut the saltiness of the other meats. I was one of the first few people in line so I ordered the sandwich with a side of waffle fries. My order came out in 5 mins so I was happy about that! The pictures on Yelp made it seem bigger than what it was but I didn't mind because I only ended up eating half the sandwich. I thought the sandwich was a bit overpriced for what it was--all I tasted was pastrami. I really loved the crispiness of the waffle fries tho! Deli Board's been on my SF bucket list for some time now, becoming something of an institution. With the generously packed slices of pastrami and saucy interior, Deli Board's easily recognizable sandwiches have had San Franciscans and foodies alike clamoring for them, queueing long lines for decades. Today, I finally gave them a try, a visit long overdue. Decadence is the name of the game here. All sandwiches come substantially filled with meat yet remain delicately balanced by the other ingredients. I shared the Leroy Brown and 49er; the latter (in football respects and sandwich respects) reigns supreme. The cherry peppers coupled with the coleslaw make for a great complement to the meaty interior. Not usually a fan of multiple meats in a sandwich, but the addition of brisket was welcome and lended just enough sumptuousness to the whole ensemble. The Leroy Brown, on the other hand, with its slices of turkey and salami that felt all too gratuitous, was passable. The cheese also rendered the whole thing a tad too salty. Would've appreciated some tang to cut the indulgence of this one. Do expect a line here, but note that it moves fast and efficiently. Cumulatively probably have waited half an hour from start of line to bag received. Not bad. The prices are steep, but you're in San Francisco, Subway footlongs boast a $10 price tag. What more can I say that someone hasn't already said. The sandwiches are top notch here, especially if you like your sandwiches MEATY. The meat is soooo flavorful and the bread soooo fresh. The sauces with the warm meat and roll are AMAZING. I've been here at least 5 times in the last 6 months already. I've tried the Carzle, Leroy Brown, Allison and 49er; all equally amazing in their own right. I usually order the Waffle Fries and have even tried their chicken wings special one time. We usually get there 15 minutes before opening because the line does get long. read more

This is hands down my absolute favourite sandwich spot in the city. Maybe..dare I say...in the whole state. There is literally not a single thing they could do better. I guess that's why I come here far too often. The sandwiches are all fantastic; you literally can't go wrong. That said, I am particularly partial to the 555, the 49er, and the Carzle. The meats are so perfect and so well cut, the toppings are delicious and the large pickles make an already perfect sandwich somehow even better. Also the folx working here are super nice! The only drawback is the insanely long lines but...they still aren't long enough to deter me from returning time after time. read more

I don't know why there's so much hate for this delicious sandwich spot!! It's my Togo when it's not busy !! (Sucks having 30 min lunch ) but would always grab a sandwich if there's no line!! Sandwich is packed with flavorful deli meat and the sauce is just !! Highly recommend to try this place out if you haven't. Owner is nice and really respected in the community !! read more

Saw this spot on Tiktok and yes, it did live up to the hype. I was visiting from out of town and it wasn't easy to get to necessarily (they also dont do delivery or take out orders ahead of time) so had to uber over. The line took about 15-20 mins at around noon on a Thursday. Sandwiches are pricey but they are truly huge so definitely worth the price. I got the Armando (no sprouts) and the turkey and avocado quality were great. Wish it had a little more peppers on it to bring more of a kick but otherwise fantastic. Liked the two large chunks of pickle on the side added on as well. Do note- street outside was under construction so was hard to get over to (but temporary). read more
